Getting apps on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G - General Questions and Answers

Hi ! I got a Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G from someone who couldn't use it since it's a chinese model that doesn't support Google services. I unlocked the bootloader and installed Xiaomi's EU ROM but this phone isn't Google Play Protect Certified so I can't get apps. I'm sorry guys for this newbie thread but I'm a bit confused with my next step, I could try another OS but Google might remain inaccessible, maybe someone have some experience with this model or know what else might work ?
Thanks for any insight you might have !

Use Yalp Store instead of Googe Play Store:
Yalp Store (Android)
Download any of Google Play's APKs

U could try installing a custom rom that comes with gapps
Don't know if it's gonna work but it's worth a try

As far as I know, for the stock rom of this model, you just need to download & install the Google Play Store apk in order to run Google Play.

Curious to hear if you found a way to install gapps as I have nearly the same problem with my Chinese version. Came with gapps installed, but latest MIUI update disabled it and I don't have any exp flashing anything! Seriously need help in NYC!

I experienced the same - after update v12.0.3, Gapps stopped working. I then searched for solutions and was able to flash it back with ROM version before the update. What I did was:
1. Enable the Developer Options on your Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G.
Go to Settings>My Device>All Specs>Tap 5 or 6 times on the MIUI Version/ Build Number until you see a pop message that shows you “You are now a developer”.
2. Head to the Settings>Additional Settings>Developer Options>enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlock.
3. Go to Settings>Developer Options>Mi Unlock Status and then:
a.Agree to Permission
b.Click Add account and device
c.Turn off wi-fi and use mobile data
d.Your device will be "binded"
3. Using a computer download Mi Unlock tool. In my case I downloaded it from https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/11/download-xiaomi-mi-unlock-tool/:
a. The version I first downloaded is miflash_unlock-en-3.5.1128.45.
b. Install it. In my case, the USB driver for my device was also installed.
Another website to download the unlock tool is https://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html. This is the version miflash_unlock-en-5.5.224.24. In my case, it was the first version installation where my USB driver was installed. But the second version was the one I used to unlock.
c. Run the unlock tool.
d. Enter you Mi Account credentials. You may need to enter the code sent to the Phone number registered to your Mi Account.
4. Power off your device. Long press the volume down and power button until you see the Fastboot screen. Connect your Device to the PC and then:
a. Click Refresh. Unlock tool shall now show your device and then click unlock.
b. After a short while, you will be advised to unlock after few days, in my case it's 7 days. (It is important at this point that you already creatde a Backup and copy it to your computer. Copy separately the DCIM Folder).
5. After the waiting period:
a.Power off your device. Long press the volume down and power button until you see the Fastboot screen. Connect your Device to the PC.
b. Run the unlock tool.
d. Enter you Mi Account credentials.
e. Click Refresh. Unlock tool shall now show your device and then click unlock.
6. Download Mi Flash Tool. In my case, its MiFlash20210226. unzip and install it.(Note: download the Mi Flash Tool in advance so you have it ready. You may download it same time when you download the unlock tool).
7. Download the Rom Version before the update. I downloaded it from https://xiaomirom.com/en/rom/redmi-note-9-pro-5g-mi-10t-lite-gauguin-china-fastboot-recovery-rom/. In my case, It is a history Fastboot Rom since it is a rollback. It is gauguin_images_V12.0.11.0.QJSCNXM_20210219.0000.00_10.0_cn_01867c5953.tgz. Unzip it and place it in drive C of your computer. (Note: download the Rom Fast Boot in advance so you have it ready).
8. To prevent anti roll back error, I edited all the .bat files. I renamed them to .txt and deleted a portion that restricts roll back. In my case, I deleted the portion after the 2 lines that starts in "fastboot %* getvar..." The portion that I deleted starts with "::check anti_version" and followed by 4 lines of "if..". After delete, you will see that all the lines now start with "fastboot %* only. I then rename it back to .bat. You may want to check out this youtube video:
8. Run the Mi Flash tool and then:
a.Power off your device. Long press the volume down and power button until you see the Fastboot screen. Connect your Device to the PC.
b. Click Refresh. MiFlash tool shall now show your device.
c. Click Select button and find the folder of the ROM in your Drive C. VERY IMPORTANT: at the bottom of the flash tool window, you must select "Clean all" before you click flash button.
6. Wait patiently while flashing. After flashing (about more than 500+ seconds) your device will reboot. Note that the flash tool may say error (something about lock) but in my case, flashing was successful even if it said error. Your device will now reboot. MIUI may take a while to load. Wait patiently. You may need to register again using your MI credentials. It may be in chinese text but you will know because it is shown first after boot. After that, it will all be setting up like its a new phone (you can now choose English language).
IMPORTANT ADVISORY: It is important that you create a Backup and copy it to your computer. Unlocking already deletes the data of your phone. After flashing, you may copy it back to MIUI>Backup Folder>All Backup and use it to restore your contacts and other settings. Also always make sure your phone battery is 80% full if not 100% when unlocking or flashing. In my experience, China Rom is still best to use for Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G because it maximizes the use and features of your phone.Other ROM (India or Global may cause bugs and camera issues). Only caveat is, you can no longer update your MIUI. As the updated MIUI is the one that stops the Gapps from running in the first place. After all this, you will appreciate how unique, special and one of a kind phone is Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G.
UPDATE JUNE 1 2021:
Guys, just right now, after checking, my phone showed MIUI 12.5 as available update. Fingers crossed, I updated my Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G to MIUI 12.5 (v12.5.2.0), and like a blessing from heaven, all my doubts, fears and worries of not being able to use GMS are gone. After updating with v12.0.3 before, all my Gapps stopped working. But with this update, you just have to go to Settings, Accounts and Sync, Basic Google Services (this is new) and just enable it. And just like that, all that nightmare about Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G China rom not allowing google apps is gone. MIUI 12.5 is so smooth and awesome, so feature-rich. For me, sticking to China Rom (english language though) is still the best for China rom phones for you to be able to maximize and enjoy all its features. Flashing other roms may cause bugs and camera issues. Salvation has come! I have no idea about other models but I think K40 also has available update already.

Lenovo S8 A7600 [Official Rom] [Instructions]

Hello
Seeing there is very little info about this model, I decided to make available my findings. Initially I was a bit annoyed with the phone in the start. The "stock" rom was a disaster (malware-ridden, non-official). First I tried to de-bloat that but the whole rom was just bad and unstable. Since then I've learned some things, and newer official builds have surfaced.
Also I should say; this phone is basically a K3 Note with 720p screen (another difference is MT6752M cpu instead of MT6752 in the K3 Note) and it's very similar to the A7000 model.
The best rom I have tried so far is this : VIBEUI_V2.5_1532_5.1797.1_ST_A7600_CU ---> DL - This is latest official stock Rom for the 7600 (not 7600M which is Chinese version)
Here is also TWRP recovery with english + chinese language: DL
Rename ROM to "update.zip", use stock recovery and flash (probably best to use stock lenovo recovery first to make sure everything gets flashed, can be flashed with twrp but I suspect it only flashes boot and system), boot it up, finish the setup wizard, turn it off. Use SPflashtool to flash TWRP, turn off again.
Start phone in recovery mode (Press volume Up + Down, and power button. Hold until recovery appears). Now you can flash Gapps (arm64, lollipop 5.0, opengapps.org), SuperSU, xposed arm64 lollipop, etc.
I have been able to get a very pleasing phone doing this. I don't really feel right now that much is missing, and I'm not annoyed by various other problems. Using xposed modules gravity box, GEL settings, Lollipop memory fix, etc.
This Rom has very little bloatware, there are some chinese apps, but they can easily be uninstalled - don't even need root. There are a few more you can uninstall using root if you want, but be careful not to break the system.
I'm not going to explain everything in great detail here. Using SPFlashTool is explained so many other places. Getting supersu and xposed also explained everywhere.
If I could I would integrate all in to one flashable package, but I'm not a rom cooker. Sorry
PS: As you can see in the image, i use iFONT xposed. But I don't enable it as xposed module, that caused problems. I just used it to download a font and applied it. It's system wide, and it works
There's a newer link in post #6 with the latest firmware

sorry, I had to remove your links, because I have small amount of posts and I am not allowed to submit post with urls - even if quoted.
Hi!
Do you know way to install other languages into ROM (or add them and somehow rebuild ROM), I am searching informations for last few days with no succes. The main problem is when international apps using EN for directory, when all information in directory should be in my language (polish). Changing locale helps, but settings are crashing with changed locales..
Also I installed xposed, but system tells me that xposed is not installed... I heard about it from your post and found only version v79 for sdk 21. I need to remove search box from desktop at google now.
Any custom rom for this device ?
Hi everyone, hi @askermk2000
I just received my Lenovo S8 A7600 "Golden Warrior" phone from an Asian vendor, it came with VIBEUI_V2.5_1524_5.1460.1_ST_A7600_CU and SuperSU was seemingly installed when I first turned on phone (asked me to update binary).
Specs are MTK6752M 64-bit OctaCore, 2GB RAM, 8GB storage.
Can I install your version VIBEUI_V2.5_1532_5.1797.1_ST_A7600_CU through the Lenovo stock recovery/flash (phone) as you suggest?
You mention "not 7600M" so I am not sure...
I also see in other places that there's even a newer VibeUI version VIBEUI_V2.5_1537_5.1978.1_ST_A7600_CU, any idea where to get it and if it is compatible? I cannot find any download link...
Thanks...

Hello
It's wise of you to remove that dubious vendor firmware.
Since "A7600M" is a model number, or simply name of the phone, I would be surprised if it doesn't say so anywhere. Look at the packaging, phone and battery compartment etc. If you don't see A7600M anywhere, it's likely not that model.
See here: Lenovo Inquiry Page
At the bottom there you'll find link for the latest official (Full) firmware.
Thank you @askermk2000 for your kind and immediate reply.
This known asian vendor on their page mentions: Lenovo "Golden Warrior" S8 A7600, 4G, LTE, MTK6752M @1.5GHz 64bit OctaCore, 2GB RAM, 8GB storage, 5.5inch HD IPS screen, OTG, Android 5.0 Phone
In settings, the ROM version is: VIBEUI_V2.5_1524_5.1460.1_ST_A7600_CU, no bloatware; was surprised to see SuperSU pre-installed but the vendor does have a service (at a cost) to provide pre-rooted phones (which I did NOT order but maybe got).
The (Lenovo) box doesn't mention much, even under the phone I can see a lot of Chinese, so it's definitely for China -- vendor wrote it's unlocked for world use on their page.
The mentioned model is A7600 on the rear, there's only a A838 reference besides model (i.e. QQ-A838-xxxxxx) but not much more than that.
I suspect these may be older stock they wanted to get rid of.
As you can see, the model is (S8) A7600, not A7600M. The chipset has "M" i.e. is MTK6752M.
So can I not use the official latest (full) firmware that you posted, via stock recovery?
Is this not for MTK6752M processor? Will this firmware brick the phone, you think?
Thank you very much in advance!

No, your phone is the right model, as you said "Unlocked for world use", the A7600M only works in china.
MTK6752M is the chipset used - it has nothing to do with A7600M, that there are two M's there is a coincidence.
So you can go ahead and use the latest firmware.
OK for the sake of information to everyone, I did the following:
0. Formatted SD card from within the phone (just to be sure). Then charged battery fully to 100%.
1. Copy (via PC) the latest firmware zip file (currently is VIBEUI_V2.5_1628_5.2186.1_ST_A7600_CU_WC5DAF1811.zip about 1GB size) to root of my SD card. This file looks like a recovery type, but files inside (some IMG, DAT and scatter files) could be flashable from PC (i.e. like SP Flash Tool etc.).
2. Renamed it update.zip
3. Put SD and battery back to phone.
4. Started phone in recovery mode: Pressed Volume Up + Down and Power buttons simultaneously; held them until recovery screen appeared. First, Lenovo logo, then a screen to choose language (Chinese/English); pressed English.
5. Selected the Install Upgrade Pack menu and pressed "YES" to the warning about encrypted phones.
6. Waited for update with circle-type update progress; for some reason it got seemingly stuck at 75% for some period. Waited patiently to finish.
7. I selected "Back" to go and clean user data.
8. Once done, I pressed back touch-button and selected "Restart".
9. Waited to see what happens. Was curiously greeted with a white chinese splash-screen saying "4G" something. Waited...
10. Phone next booted to the usual Lenovo logo, with some chinese text at the bottom and three dots [...] flashing with thin white progress-line (most likely "rebuilding apps"?). This took a while, too.
11. The phone finally went into the wizard in Chinese, and then offered choice of English or Chinese as wizard language.
Wizard finished OK, then went to Settings -> About device -> ROM is upgraded indeed to VibeUI v2.5-1628 and Android 5.0.2.
NOTE: There's a LOT of chinese stuff, unfortunately, I guess it's part of the ROM; obviously this ROM is non-rooted...
However, the asian vendor installed/shipped ROM (VIBEUI_V2.5_1524_5.1460.1_ST_A7600_CU) was very light and fast -- I guess a deodex version? Or a VibeUI port?
Many thanks @askermk2000 for your help nevertheless.
Any idea, compared to your experience., if...
a) if your URL for latest firmware is maybe only for China? Your first post photos/screenshots don't have such Chinese apps On this ROM version, the shutdown logo is again that white chinese splash-screen with a big red "4G". Perhaps there's some other version for non-Chinese region?
b) if there's a stock, deodex ROM like that one? How did the Asian vendor find such light ROM, I am curious -- in that shipped ROM version, I had many menu languages. Now I only have English and Chinese as choices
c) if I need TWRP so I can flash Play Store, gapps and SuperSU? I don't think stock Recovery allows for these, any idea?
Cheers mate.

Hello again
Yes, the official Chinese rom only has Eng/Chinese language. There may be a way to add more, idk because I only need English. The 4G boot logo is normal, was there on the rom linked in the first post also.
All the Chinese apps (or almost all) can be uninstalled without root permission. I never experience the rom to be less than fast and good, but I always immediately uninstalled the chinese apps, they do me no good anyways.
The rom you where supplied with is what is called ROW (international). If it's possible to get an updated ROW rom idk. All I know is that if you want a clean unhampered ROM, then the one I've shown you is the way to go.
PS: Yes you need custom recovery to flash the other stuff. Here is an updated TWRP: TWRP-3.0.2.3
^^This recovery has wrong device description in build.prop (actually it uses Lenovo K3) as a consequence you will receive error if trying to flash ROM's. So try the old one if you get these errors.
HI everyone, hi @askermk2000 and many many thanks for sharing your TWRP version 3.0.2.3 with us.
I followed this thread on how to root the Lenovo S8 A7600 phone and downloaded the tools needed (SP Flash Tool v5.1452.00 and VCOM drivers) on my Windows 7 laptop; then, installed them accordingly. Many thanks to @XxpikaachuuxX for providing links and steps on his thread!
1. Started up SP Flash Tool with administrator rights.
2. Chose the scatter file that was inside your shared TWRP-3.0.2.3 zip file; recovery image is automatically selected.
3. Shut down phone, remove battery.
4. Made sure all boxes in list were unchecked, except "recovery" then pressed "Download" button.
5 . Plugged phone on USB cable to PC, then inserted battery under the phone, as instructed.
6. Windows made a "USB plugged" sound, then SP Flash Tool detected phone OK and flashed recovery fine (there was the green tick-mark shown!)
7. Removed cable, removed battery, waited 10 seconds, re-inserted battery.
Then, copied to my SD card root folder, via PC (card reader) the following:
a) UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
b) gapps-lp-20150211-signed.zip from this thread (lp=Lollipop)
(I had downloaded and installed wrong Gapps for 5.1 Android, but we need 5.0 version for this ROM--silly me. I just re-flashed via TWRP the correct package).
Went into recovery by pressing briefly Power then when the short vibration was felt, pressed VOL+ and VOL- and POWER simultaneously; the pleasant splash-screen of TWRP was shown!
1. Installed the needed SuperSU; then went back.
2. Installed gapps.
3. Wiped cache and Davlik (inside TWRP) then rebooted phone i.e. "system".
4. Waited patiently as it took a few minutes to go on the main Home screen.
5. Created Google account in "Settings" then went straight to "PlayStore" to update all applications, including SuperSU.
6. Ran SuperSU and upon request, updated the binary "normally" and rebooted just fine.
NOTE: In the Wi-Fi detected lists, since my first ever boot of this phone, I get a (fake?) SSID entry "NVRAM WARNING: Err = 0x10" which is apparently easily fixed for other phones. Do you guys you also got that?
A bunch of final questions to you, @askermk2000 when you have time to reply.
1) Does the stock weather display on a Home page work for you? I only get Chinese cities, location doesn't work as it says "city not found". Manual input of e.g. Europe cities doesn't show results, either.
2) Despite removing most via "Settings -> App Manager", any suggestions oh how to remove some further chinese apps that are marked "system app"? This article suggests NoBloat Free, Titanium Backup, System App Remover and App Master. I am not familiar with this approach but for example, "LenovoStore" could be removed...
3) Do you have by any chance the original, black b/g, folding (yes, boring) Lenovo animation boot logo to share? I see there's a file logo.bin for SP Flash Tools but others talk about /system/media/bootanimation.zip file... I ask if you have it, as the "Boot Animations" PlayStore app may not have the stock Lenovo boot. Perhaps flashing it via SP Flash Tool is better?
4) Will you kindly share any updates here to TWRP versions, whenever released? Do you anticipate any update in the coming 1-2 months, for example? (not sure there are bugs in TWRP-3.0.2.3, if any)
5) If there is a newer Lenovo official ROM available (than today) we obviously lose the TWRP recovery if we flash it all via SP Flash Tools; but we keep TWRP recovery if we update to the new ROM via TWRP, correct?
Thank you.

About that Wi-Fi problem. No I don't have it, and I was reading that page with the fix. It seems it's caused by using wrong settings in SPFlashtool, so likely the vendor did this when applying his trash firmware.
If you wifi is not working (as some reported in that thread) I would of course try to get a refund.
Weather gadget only has Chinese cities, yes I noticed that so I was using yahoo weather instead on my phone.
I would suggest Titanium Backup, it's what I use.
No, sorry I don't have any boot logos or animations.
This phone is a bit slow on the updates. But if there's an update, you can do it through the OTA update function which only downloads the changes as a patch. Though If your phone is heavily modified it might not work correctly. Could try a factory reset first, or simply start a fresh.
Then you would probably need to download the original recovery and flash that first.
PS: You can break the system by removing too much of the lenovo stuff. Remember VibeUi is heavily integrated and impossible to remove completely. Also, for gapps go to www.opengapps.org

Can you help me a bit? I got an infected phone and i need to install a new rom to keep myself safe. (im kinda noob to installing stuff like these)

Hi. I need to ask. What does this mean? Does this include Play Store? Is it a global version?
Or is it just another Chinese ROM?
Thank you!

Guys I have just received an OTA update 1.4gb version 3.05 on my phone.
I would install it but my fear is to loose all data and settings.
Did anyone installed it?
I've also received the OTA update, I would try it but the chinese links for Gapps are nor working (source download not posssible)
Does anyone know how to unroot the terminal?
When local updating to 3.05, the terminal will brick.
How to install Android 9
I've installed it the following way.
Downloaded the new android version to my Nubia X.
Started localupdate via phone --> settings --> update --> localupdate.
Android 9 installed automatically without problems. Your phone should now be unrooted.
Now you need the Root-toolkit for v3.05 --> works only in windows :/
Connect your phone via usb in fastbootmode (you need to activate usb-debugging before)
Execute the root toolkit v3.05
can't post the link, somebody else have to do it.
a window opens --> close it (can't read chinese language)
another window should open --> klick on root.
wait after "success" appears.
Your phone should be restarting.
I'm using android 9 on my nubia x since a month and its working way better then android 8.
I'm not responsible if you brick your phone.
I give no guarantee

I would install Android 9 but my fear is to loose all configurations, permissions, etc and It will take long time to reconfigure every thing.
My question is : is it really worth to install it or there are more or less the same performance?
Anyone knows if nubia X will have final android 9?

Download the rom for Android 9, got to settings -> "System update", then from the menu up, select "Local update".
No issues with 3.05 - works fine, nothings from the apps, data or setting is flushed. But the phone is unrooted and you need to process it again.
But recently I have updated it from 3.03 to 3.11 and I can't find the root tool.
Anyone has idea where to find it?
Thanks.
3.11 play store
Looking allsou the rooting tool for 3.11. Needed play store.

Deep TEST fot OPPO RENO ACE(unlock bootloader)

OPPO's official website provides users with an official way to unlock bootloader.
coloros link:
https://bbs.coloros.net/graphic?id=1498611
you need to install the deeptest.apk to submit unlock request.
The application must meet all the following conditions:
1. The time to market must be more than 3 months;
2. No application record within 60 days;
3. The last consecutive login time of the OPPO account on this machine exceeds 60 days;
4. The number of in-depth test users has not reached the quota limit;
5. Non-government enterprises and operators customize mobile phones;
6. Support mobile phones listed in mainland China.
Unfortunately, there are currently no available quota. But if you want , you have to register an oppo account, and login time should more than 60 days.
So does this mean we can install custom rooms?
So... Hey guys,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I was actually able to flash the GSI from the link below on my OPPO Reno Ace:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/aosp-10-0-quack-phh-treble-t3992559
I am super new to all this, but I decided to take the risk anyways because I really wanted to get away from ColorOS. Luckily it worked out to the point that the phone seems functional so far (just flashed it as of writing this).
Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk! I am not responsible for what happens to your phone for following what I did. Please think twice before trying! Also remember to back-up your phone first!
Before I continue on how I got it to work, I got the Reno Ace Gundam edition. Not sure if that makes a difference but I thought this should be mentioned. Also since I couldn't find a version of TWRP for the Reno Ace; I followed the instructions on how to flash without it.
Here are all the main links I used:
Walkthrough for Deep Test app: https://forum.xda-developers.com/find-X/how-to/guide-how-to-apply-deep-testing-pafm00-t3888013
GSI: https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/aosp-10-0-quack-phh-treble-t3992559

Extra Links in case of weird trouble. Hopefully you won't need it:
Google Usb Driver: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/oem-usb#InstallingDriver
How to manually install Google USB Driver: https://visualgdb.com/KB/usbdebug-manual/
Useful Key Word: Kedacom USB Device
*** Backup your phone before going forward.
Getting the Deep Testing app:
Now first, you do need to sign-up for an OPPO account. The link from the OP will take you to their site and you can sign-up from there.
- You will be required to login to your OPPO account in order to use the app.
- The file you download is named "Reno Ace深度测试.apk".
- Add ".apk" to the end of the filename if it's not already there. DO NOT rename the file.
- Once logged into your OPPO account on your phone, you stay logged in so you don't need to worry about actively logging in everyday.
- Next, follow the instructions on how to use the app from the Deep Test thread.
- Keep trying until your submission gets accepted, then the hardest part begins: you...wait...
- Once approved, it took ~2 days for me to be able unlock.
Make sure you have ADB ready on your computer:
- There are plenty of guides on it, so I'll just leave a link here; honestly I forgot the specifics already: https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
Steps:
- Prepare your GSI: You can look for other GSI(s), but from my research it seems safest to get it from here first; before trying others: GSI thread
- This link explains what GSI are and how to choose which one to get.
- *Make sure to extract the ".img" file from the ".img.xz" zip file.*
- Download "vbmeta.img" from "Troubleshooting Tips" of the "Flash GSI without TWRP" section of the How to Flash GSI Guide.
-After you've extracted the ADB folder, keep the files (.img files) you intend to flash within the "platform-tools" folder.
*Noob tip lol: Clicking on the folder address and typing "cmd" is the quick way to open command prompt within the directory.*
- *** There are some unique steps for the Reno Ace, if not all OPPO phones, due to the Deep Testing app. ***
- After you get your approval, note that if you press the "Start Deep Testing" text you will be immediately put into fastboot mode. SO DO NOT PRESS IT NOW.
- Make sure you have OEM Unlock and USB Debugging enabled within Developer Options. Then connect your phone to your PC and set it to transfer files.
- On computer, open command prompt within the "platform- tools" folder. Enter the command "adb devices", when you see your device ID and "device" next to it, this means the phone has been connected. (If a prompt on your phone pop-ups, tap the "Always allow this computer to USB Debug" and "Allow". This is just what I did, not sure if it's necessary).
- Now go into the Deep Testing app on your phone, tap on "Queue status" and then "Start Deep Testing".
- You should see the images from this Oppo Find X tutorial, on your phone. Landing on the screen with the big green "Start" on top.
- Once you're here, enter "fastboot flashing unlock" into ADB and you'll move on to the next screen where you select "Unlock the Bootloader".
- After confirming, your phone will factory reset itself, and reboot into ColorOS again.
- Check to make sure your phone is connected to adb.
- From here on you follow "Flash GSI without TWRP" part of the How to Flash GSI Guide starting at step 2. If you have your ".img" files in the "platform-tools" folder then you can skip step 3.
- Before step 5 you need to flash the vbmeta: fastboot flash vbmeta name_of_vbmeta.img
Then flash the GSI ".img" file with fastboot -w flash system name_of_system.img.
(The comments there mentions that the "-u" is incorrect and should be "-w", which worked for me.)
* Important: without flashing "vbmeta.img" you'll be stuck in a boot loop because the phone prevents you from booting into the GSI. If this does happen, hold down Volume Down and Power until the phone vibrates to boot back into "fastboot mode". Enter "fastboot device" in ADB to confirm the phone is connected, and start over from step 4 in the How to Flash GSI Guide. *
- Once you finish step 6 your phone should boot into the GSI.
Hopefully this proves useful. I'm no expert, I simply found my way around things.
I honestly have no idea where to go from here, Magisk? LineageOS? If anyone can give me some pointers, that would be very much appreciated.
Things that are not working for me:
- Can't setup In-screen Fingerprint sensor
I got a twrp that works just finished rooting with help of the vbmeta above

Would you mind giving a link to the twrp you found? I was searching around for one as well, but I couldn't find anything I felt comfortable with.
Also did you also flash a gsi? If you did, I was wondering if your headphone jack is working. Mine doesn't work anymore; the phone seems to recognize it, but no headphone icon shows up and sound plays through the speakers only.

Yes looks familiar it should be that one the twrp itself has Chinese and English languages.
Formatting and wipe is working otg also haven't really tested alot also you can flash ozip stock rom with it if you plan on rooting the boot gets corrupted but with the vbmeta bypasses it.
if you plan on installing V4A don't do the magisk module will bootloop have to look for the rootless V4A. (also need AML and the sound is great)
also don't change to f2fs i did it and the phone make weird noises went back to ext4.

Awesome! Thanks for the info, it will come in handy later on. Still just learning and getting familiar with all this.
A follow up after a couple of days of using phhusson's gsi.
Overall the phone is functioning very well. Generally smoother than on ColorOS.
Things to note:
- Battery life is good, same if not better than on ColorOS.
- Fast charge works. Full charge in around under 30 mins.
- Wi-fi works and Data works.
- Phone and Text work.
- Camera works.
- Headphone jack won't work until you go into the treble-settings (Phh Treble Settings) -> Qualcomm features -> and turn on "Use alternate audio policy"; then restart your phone. Then it will work again, although no headphone icons will appear. I don't use Headsets, so I couldn't test if that works as well.
- The phone will be rooted by default, so certain apps can't be downloaded, or used. (Root can be removed, but it doesn't seem like a good idea.) There are ways around this, but I didn't dive very deep into it.
Problems to note:
- In-screen fingerprint sensor can't be used.
- No auto-adjusting brightness.
- Brightness is a lot brighter than in ColorOS. Even lowest brightness is bright.
- Auto-Rotate is very sensitive and won't stay landscape when phone is flat on a table.
- Certain apps may not be full screen if you use the new gesture navigation. (Shadowverse)
- I didn't test Bluetooth or NFC. I don't use them much, or at all, so I'll follow up on that when the time comes and no one else has mentioned anything on them yet.
That should be all for now. Honestly very happy with the move. Hope this helps.
**Just an extra reminder that this is my experience with this specific gsi. **
Is this still available? I can't download the APK from Oppo, I logged onto my 'heytap' account but the download link just brings me to my account information.

you need to install the deeptest.apk to submit unlock request.
The application must meet all the following conditions:
1. The time to market must be more than 3 months;
2. No application record within 60 days;
3. The last consecutive login time of the OPPO account on this machine exceeds 60 days;
4. The number of in-depth test users has not reached the quota limit;
5. Non-government enterprises and operators customize mobile phones;
6. Support mobile phones listed in mainland China.
Unfortunately, there are currently no available quota. But if you want , you have to register an oppo account, and login time should more than 60 days.

X2 Pro - Chinese version living in the EU (regrouped Questions and Answers)

Hello Guys,
So i'm new to Oppo, but an old wolf within these corridors.
I have some questions for you crazy people who bought the Chinese DUAL sim version of the Oppo Find X2 Pro.
I went through all the threads, read them and there are some inconsistent answers. So i will post my questions (feel free to ask me to add more) and will update the orginal post with the answers you will give me - so this helps new comers.
1. Does Google Playstore work?
-Confirmed working
2. Does Google Pay work?
-Confirmed working
3. Does Google assistant work?
-Apparently yes, but the "Hey Google" voice detection apparently is grayed out and doesn't work (Need more confirmation on this also)
- Works with issues or extra application
4. Do Gsuite applications work?
-Normally they should as Oppo is not blacklisted like Huawei and runs GMS. But could someone confirm please.
5. Do third party launchers work (without ADBing "pm" the orignal launcher) ?
- NEED CONFIRMATION - but apparently not
- Confirmed not working
6. Does 5G / 4G work?
Apparently a forum member living in Italy says it works fine, but found that some 5G bands are not present in the Chinese version. Please reply yes or no and on which carrier you are and which country.
- NEED MORE CONFIRMATIONS
7. Does WifiCalling and / or VoLTE work? And if they do /don't please write down your carrier/country
-NEED CONFIRMATION
8. Can you force install the Global ROM onto the Chinese Phone (important point here)?
-Still waiting to see if that is possible. Waiting to get confirmation from people who tried / succeeded / failed please
- Waiting on results
9. Can you unlock bootloader and install TWRP.
-Only answers i could find were : yes and no, bootloader not yet unlockable, TWRP working... very confusing.
9. Apparently you can't use an app like Textra or other to replace the Stock SMS app (who uses SMS anyhow, right? but still an interesting point).
-Anyone?
10. Looking for tutorials on how to use MEMStool, QPST, etc... anyone know of any so i can link them here? Coming from Samsung, Oneplus, etc could be handy
- Anyone?
11- Autostart of more than 5 untrusted applications? asked by @yarik88
Has anyone won this limitation? This is very important, as it affects notifications from third-party applications. And without autorun, calls are not accepted in some messengers that are not indicated by Oppo as trusted.
You can give permission to the application to autostart related applications, therefore, perhaps there is a program (something like an autostart manager) giving it the right to autostart, it will already launch the application that you specify in it. But so far I have not found one and these are my assumptions
12. Anything else?
Thanks for your feedback and help.
I can come back to you on the other questions for but for now I bought mine from Wonda. Google Play was pre installed and works fine (I had a P40 Pro before so I know about Play Store not working fully!)
Google Pay works without issue. The app is stable and have used all my cards to pay using NFC.
Google assistant works once when you set it up, then it takes itself out of settings. I use the Google Voice Search app instead (I only use mine to set timers etc). All my other Google apps work fine, maps gmail etc.
4G works fine, I have the option for 5G in the menu but don't have a 5G sim to test. No option in the menu for VoLTE/WIFI calling it seems.
Flashing Global ROM needs more testers
8. Can you force install the Global ROM onto the Chinese Phone (important point here)?
All attempts to flash the Global (CPH) software on a Chinese (PDEM) phone were unsuccessful so far, however, it seems that all these people (claiming a failure while flashing) are members of the Beta program.
My friend with an Oneplus phone reports the same behaviour (the phone just won't let you flash an older firmware), furthermore, one Beta user here reported that now he can not even flash the original PDEM software while getting the same error message (The installed version is lower than current).
tl;dr
So there is a solid chance that all of this has nothing to do with Global/Chinese ROM, we just need users who AREN'T in the Beta program to test the ROM.
Global ROM (UK version), 12th May 2020, 3 597 MB, CPH2025_11_A.18: https://oppo-uk.custhelp.com/app/software_update_detail/p_name/Find+X2+Pro/session/
The same ROM decrypted from .ozip to .zip for those who want to play with it: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjPo24k0toyl0VJOap14txM-W3Nl?e=ePbq9I
While I've got you here, can you please see if you can install Nova launcher or lawn chair... Just to see if third party launchers work.
Thanks!!!

I think the same with all Chinese rom phones, there isn't an option to set another launcher. Yes you can download them and they appear but once you close an app it reverts back to stock. Just tried and no it doesn't set as home launcher (Lawnchair 2 anyway).
SO only way is to adb and uninstall the orginal launcher...thanks for confirming.

Blazingly fast phone, with almost unlimited RAM... and they limit autostart to 5.
Bizarre (theres that buzzword again!)
I don't get this thing of autostart... Are you telling me that this phone with 12gb of ram...limits 5 applications? Meaning if you have mail, WhatsApp, telegram, calendar , or other apps you need notifications for you are limited to 5 apps max??!!?
Please elaborate...I'm having a hard time believing this. Seems worst than Huawei's app killer...

ItsIt's very similar to this.
This is Oppo's worst idea. I don't understand how they think in China, forbidding the user to use his phone. Just the thought that there are so many ad notifications from apps to take this step.
You have the "Manage autorun" setting in it on top of the list of trusted applications from installed (I have Instagramm, Skype, Telegramm, Whatsapp, Vk, Facebook) I think there are more, but here OPPO decides which applications to consider trusted.
Apps from this list do not affect the 5 apps limit.
And below is a list of all the other apps installed on your phone. And you can select Only 5 applications that have been autorun.
Notifications from applications that don't have autorun permission come in very badly, usually only when you start the application itself. But sometimes they break through, too, but not always.
For example, a SIGNAL messenger without autorun does not receive call notifications and becomes useless, you can get within an hour notifications that you missed a call.

Now that's devastating to hear. Considering previously mentioned cases it should have allowed you to flash it... I'm speechless and saddened.
May I at least, out of pure misery, ask you which tool did you use to flash the ROM?

On a side note, I went to a local store to.see the single SIM version, and we looked inside...and there were connectors for 2 SIM cards...so my question now is : if we hack the card, and able to put two sims inside...is there a way to change the system for it to work with 2 Sims...

Thank you for your hard work! You deserve some sort of donation at this point.
To save your time, avoid the latest (4th) method (QPST) - files the application requires for flashing are not located in the Oppo's Global ROM.

I guess a lot of people are waiting on you :fingers-crossed:
Great job for the community. fingers, toes , everything crossed to see if it works.
BUT i still beleive that there is a way to hack the dual sim for single sim international phones, which in a way would be much better.

How To Guide Install Xiaomi EU, IN, ID ROMs instead of Global without Unlocking Bootloader!

This Guide is for any Xiaomi device with any 'Stock ROM'. Please do the following steps carefully, especially from step 7 to the last step:
Check the current MIUI version on your device, and to do this do the following:
Go to settings> About phone> you will find the version number next to MIUI Version.
You will need to download the same version, so go to the XiaomiRom website.
In the search box above, type your phone’s name, and download the ROM version with the same number you have.
You must make sure that the ROM you are downloading is Recovery version and not Fastboot and it is the same version that is currently on your phone
Now, following the same steps, download the appropriate Indonesian (ID), or European (EU) ROM for your phone with any version number you want but it must be the same Android version.
For example: If you currently have Android 11, the other ROMs must also be Android 11 as well
Now you have two files, the global ROM which is the same as your current version, and the Indonesian ROM that you want to flash.
Go to Settings app > About phone > System updates. Now by pressing the three points above list select the phrase “choose the update package” or the Select Update , the Package .
In case you don’t see this option, simply click on the MIUI logo for 10 consecutive clicks, then the option will appear.
Now, you will choose your “current” official Xiaomi ROM and a message will appear: Your phone will restart automatically with the button: Reboot and update, Leave it and don’t click on it now and leave this page as it is and don’t close it!.
Go to the home screen > file manager > Downloads > then go to the official ROM file that you chose in the previous step and copy its current name “long click with the option to rename and then copy the file name”.
Did you copy the name of the global ROM version? Now delete it!
Again, go to the Indonesian ROM file you downloaded, and rename it, then paste the name of the ROM you copied in the previous step, and do not forget that the file extension is .zip for one time and not duplicated.
Now, go back to the page that I told you not to clos in step 7 and hit the restart and update button.
Now, the phone will reboot, and start installing the Indonesian ROM or any other ROM you downloaded in the first steps on your instead of the global one.
So, what have we done here?! Simply, starting from step 7, the phone told us that we will install the global version of the ROM, so at the same time the system Decrypt it to find out the data of the Zip file of the ROM that you chose, and thus the OS skipped here the stage of making sure that this version is compatible with your current phone.
Then, in step 9 and step 10 we deleted the ‘System Approved’ ROM and renamed the Indonesian ROM to the same name as the ROM the phone approved in Step 7 – so the phone went straight to it since it’s the same name.

Yes it is safe. But I used this method to downgrade from 12.5.5 Global to 12.0.4 global. As there are news that MIUI 12.5.5 is causing an issue and people's devices are getting hard bricked suddenly.
Thank you in advance, I'm new on this forum. Doing this process, do you lose any data?

Then, in step 9 and step 10 we deleted the ‘System Approved’ ROM and renamed the Indonesian ROM to the same name as the ROM the phone approved in Step 7 – so the phone went straight to it since it’s the same name.

thank you.will i loose any data?i want to go ID for enable call record
Is google play certification passes with this method? Are Playstore and other google apps work after switching Rom's area for instance Global to Indonesia or EU?
If it helps anyone who comes to this thread and interested in the answer: I Switched from 12.5.7 Global to 12.0.3 Indonesian rom. After restart a data wipe was needed. I haven't signed in any google account yet but google play protection says that my device is certified.
I have 12.5.4(RJUEUXM) EEA, could I flash 12.5.7(RJUMIXM) Global using this method? I assume so, but my question is, will it need a full wipe?
Also, can I flash a xiaomi.eu recovery using this method, or is it silly to even consider it?
I installed MiUI 12.5.4.0 indonasian on my Global Poco X3 pro after unlocking bootloader. And now I have Upgraded it to MiUI 12.5.7 Global using this method. By doing this, my data was not erased. Everything seems to be working but after few hours I noticed that some apps e.g SMS is not opening. I am resetting my device now as I have already backed up my data.
Thanks for tutorial. Munchy's video helped a lot as well.
My phone with Android 10 and also MIUI 12.0.5 and I want to change to ROM MIUI 12.5 and Android 11 can I change or not?
I try to go from Global_V12.5.4.0.RJUEUXM to xiaomi.eu_multi_POCOX3Pro_V12.5.7.0.RJUMIXM but it didn'r work for me.
Boot locked here.
