My answer is mostly based on assumption. Verify the info before doing something serious with it.
cust.img file found in rom file is mainly used for storing bloatware like tictok, likely or Facebook. These app are pre-installed by Company. The cust.img is a disk image (you can mount it!) storing these apps. I may be wrong but I found that not flashing cust.img remove these apps. But I won't tell you to take that risk. Hope I could help you.

Hello Guys,
I have the european Version of the Honor 6x. After flashing a custom rom I wanted to come back to Stock Emui. But now I have a few problems with my Honor device. In the settings it isn't called Honor 6x any more, but generic-a15.
A huge part of the build.prop got lost so many things like f.e. the camera or the loudspeekers do not work any more.
Could someone maybe share the stock build.prop with me, so that I can solve at least one of the problems?
Thanks
In this case, the build.prop won't be helpful. You gotta flash the version.img of your actual firmware through fastboot or TWRP.
You can extract the version.img file with Huawei Update Extractor tool. You have to pull it out from the biggest update package that weights something like 1,49GB, usually "update.zip".

Yeah the thing is, huawei wont publish the firmware online anymore, if you try to find the img in the net you cannot find it at all
Huawei did that, true, but luckily there is another site on which all the update packages are uploaded. Just look for yours here http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/ you only have to write your build number and grab the file.
I messed up my build.prop with some "tweaks" (Thanks Zack. They don't work at all.). so could somebody else provide an original build.prop for BLN-L21? Thanks in advance.

Hello, so i decided to use TWRP to dump the system and the vendor image so that everyone can do whatever they want with it.
Heres the link.
if theres something wrong with the files or with the link please let me know.
The archives are small because i compressed them . . . a lot.

Unfortunately the only model that can be unlocked right now is the European one and version 10z still doesn't exist (maybe a typo?)
Any chans u have the 10k unmodified boot?
Could you do a system dump of the V40? I see you did the vendor for the V40.

First of all, thank you heaps LameMonster82, you are an absolute champion!!. I was searching for hours to find a kdz file for G710EM10p and your posting was the only one I found. For some reason the "thaks" buttob isn't visible to me.. maybe because I'm a new member.
I thought I could be helpful by listing the different KDZ files which are in your google drive folder so other people can find them while searching through google like I was.
In the above link from LameMonster82 there are following KDZ files for the LM-G710EM (European) variant of the LG G7 :
G710EM10b
G710EM10f
G710EM10k
G710EM10p
For the LG V40:
V405UA10c
V405UA10l
To install the KDZ file follow the guide here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-stock-firmware-lock-t3820888
Thanks again
I am having problem downloading G710EM10p kdz file, is there perhaps an alternative download link?

Download manages to get to 1 GB and then it drastically slows down and eventually fails. Via a download manager the farthest I got was 1,5 GB: although the download manager continued to download (it downloaded ~5 GB of data), the file was only 1,5 GB.

Doesn't seem to be something from me. Maybe Google's server are acting up or youre using your phone to download it. If you're using a phone it will sometimes do that. Try downloading another file and if not find a 10p version here: https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-lmg710em-firmwares/#tab=firmwares
I managed to download it! It went fine this time, I did not change anything on my side.
Thanks!
Btw, what is system_b.image? I cannot find anything of it on my phone.

It's the system partition but it's empty because when you install an update the system copies there. A/B support
Is it possible to extract any of the system apk files from the image without it being flashed?

Of course. You just need a 7Zip or WinRAR to open the image and fish it out

Actually, I have unpacked G7's kdz and there's 4.4 GB system_b image. When I mount it, I see bunch of odex and vdex files. I can't see where are those in my phone.

Odex and vdex files? Never heard of them. The image should still have a size but filled with 0.

Is this what you're looking for
I want to be able to root after erecovery and update to latest version. I know magisk can patch boot img for reflashing via fastboot.
Question is, how to extract original boot img?
I know there are tutorials, but they reference specific block that seems to be device dependent. Or am I making it too complicated?

You need the UPDATE.APP for the boot img.
You can find in Huawei Firmware Finder for your Version, download the Update.zip and unzip, inside is the UPDATE.APP.
Extract UPDATE.APP with Huawei Extractor https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454
Copy extracted Boot on your Phone and install Magisk and Patch the File
The patched File save Magisk on internal Memory, copy on your Pc and flash via Fastboot.
Your Bootloader must be unlocked!
Thanks for the run down. I'll give it a go.
Looks like I need a note 10 profile for Huawei extractor. Anyone have that available?

Yes, that's what I use with the unknown profile. I receive this error.
EDIT: I downloaded another file 8.2.0.158 and get same error, just different indices. I don't know if it makes a difference but most of the files found in FF are for C00B. My system info shows only C00. Could that be relevant?

Same Problem in 181 ,but in Settings uncheck :
1:Verify header checksum
and
2:Verifiy file checksum
Unchecking the 2 checksum checks you asked me to check opens up the update.app app-ropriately.
(couldn't resist )
Thanks for the help.
Baby stepping is driving me nuts.
I'm able to extract the update.app file but there is no "boot.img" in the several archives I looked at. Does it go by a different name? list attached.

Ramdisk.img
I've finally had a moment to sit down and put it all together. Got my latest stock oreo rom rooted. Feel confident I can do PIE if it ever shows up for me in the US. Thanks for the tutorial Letschky.
As luck would have it, PIE update arrived after tweaking up the rooted Oreo. Ready to root PIE, but there is no "ramdisk.img" in my downloaded 9.0.0.181 archive.
Has the name changed for PIE or is it a bad archive?

Don't worry you can still fix that..rename the extracted folder to the original file name of the .tgz fastboot ROM.. exclude the .tgz from the name then try to flash it again..error went away after discovering this..

For example, you downloaded the rom with this file name..
"miui_VIOLETINGlobal_V10.3.13.0.PFHINXM_6e7dae0213_9.0.zip"
Extract it until you see the folder. The name of the folder should be the same like this
"miui_VIOLETINGlobal_V10.3.13.0.PFHINXM_6e7dae0213_9.0"
