DVD embedded subtitles (Vobsub) - MX Player

Can you see embedded DVD Subtitles (Vobsub) in mkv video files ?
I didn't manage to do it because, even if MX Player recognised the differents streams, including the DVD subtitles, I couldn't select the subtitles in menu (as if there was no subtitles stream).
I had :
- to extract the subtitles from the mkv file (.idx and .sub)
- to reencode them in SRT format by using an OCR online service
- to replace the Vobsub subtitles by the SRT ones in the mkv video file.
Can you share an easier solution, it there is one, please ?

Subtitle Movie format srt and SUB or IDX
Tanks
same here ... looking for a player capable of reading also subtitles (.srt)
It is not a player, but you can
a) recode a movie to shrink it size without noticing any difference in Topaz's screen
b) Embed subtitles
c) play the mp4 movie it produces without any additional software: just the HTC video player included in your ROM

Tested and is really working + it gets frequent updates
For playback I use CorePlayerâ„¢ Mobile, because i never managed to get tcpmp 0.7*/0.8* to work with a subtitle plug-in.
So I also re-encode .avi (xvid) + .srt files with AVI ReComp

MKV subtitles gone when converted

I've recently downloaded a MKV file with subtitles but i can't find the srt file however when it play it with VLC player its there. My problem is that when i convert it to mp4 for my phone the subs are gone! Is there anyway to like make it reappear.
The subtitle (using mkv merge) shows S_TEXT/ASS (ID3, type: subtitles) when i put the mkv in. I tried muxing it but it still doesn't show up when i convert it.
Is there a solution?
I dont think WP7 supports subtitles yet, to tell you the truth subtitles on a mobile device would be tiny and i dont know why you would want to, but that's just me. If you really want the subtitles your going to have to hard encode them into the video which means re-encoding the whole thing again, which means diminished quality.

Did you thought about Hard-Subbing the movie? It's fast and easy.

Can Galaxy Tab Plus play videos with subtitles on TV?

Can it do it with the HDMI adapter and a video player like mvideoplayer ?
It is possible if you have the player in Software (S/W) Decoder mode, for both .avi files with external .srt files and .mkv files with the subs muxed in. Subtitles will not display if you are in Hardware (H/W) Decoder mode. It should be the same with MX Player Pro.
Hope that helps!
It should handle the 700MB avi in Software Decoder mode ?
It should. I tried with a 1.5 gb avi file in software and it worked
you can, just rename the subtitle as the same as the video file ex: theraidredemption.mkv --> theraidredemption.srt
tested with stock video player app and dice player app (both in H/W decoder mode)

How did you get the stock video app to play subtitles? It does not have any options for it.
You just have to rename the .srt the same as the video file, video.mkv and video.srt, when you play the .mkv it will auto load the subtitle, you don't need to change a single setting, it works on my tablet too using the stock video player.
Ah, good to know. Shame the stock player doesn't handle subs within mkv files.

M2V & M4V is already there in supported extension list.
DAT is a common extension. It may contain any data like text, graphics or videos. VCDs use it as a mpeg container. Just add it to Settings >> List >> File extensions. It can be played in S/W decoder.
Similarly M2P is a streaming container for MPEG2 & ASX for ASF. Since MPEG2 & ASF are supported by MXPlayer, Just add these extensions too in Settings >> List >> File extensions. It can be played in S/W decoder.

[BUG] Subtitle inside of video files

Could you fix the subtitles bug? When some files has subtitles inside of them (not srt file separate) the player don't show. As an example I have Zack Snyder Justice League and the TV Show Falcon and the Winter Soldier (torrent files).
I know its something wrong because: 1) Other players can use the file subtitle. 2) Extracting the subtitle as .srt and opening with Mx Player Pro makes them work as it should.
Thanks for your attention

PS: The problem isn't with subtitle coding because when I extract subtitles with programs in my Computer and save as .srt they work fine with Android. The same thing happens with Android TV.
