OnePlus 7 pro T-Mobile unlock - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

My T-Mobile OnePlus 7 pro is still locked so I haven't been able to use it for calls since I bought it last year.
Can anyone help me with the unlock?
Is anyone working on a possible unlock at the moment?

I need help desperately.

How is your device locked?
Please provide details.( Not trying to be a smartass or jerk)
Just like taking a car to a mechanic and explaining "My car wont work!", the specifics allow the experts to narrow down and isolate the problem

I just know it is network locked to T-Mobile. The person I bought it from told me so. I had no idea it would be so difficult to unlock. If I did, I wouldn't have bought it. I would be glad to provide the specifics but you'll have to guide on what information you need.

Im in the same situation!! only got my imei, and the phone (clean, but i cant unlock it)

OK, AGameOP7 / Kamatron ... By "Locked/Unlocked", are you just referring to being locked to a carrier and required to use a T-Mobile SIM card?
Or, do you mean that you can't unlock the phone or can't unlock the bootloader?
If it is the former (my guess), T-Mobile is required by law to unlock your phone from being used on T-Mobile's network when the contractual commitments for the phone (usually, a one or two year contract) have been met by the original owner.
If you bought these used from friends/family, I would expect that they have paid the phone off by now. The OP7P is more than 2 years old now.
You should be able to just call up T-Mobile, and have them look up the IMEI in their records to see if your OP7P is able to be unlocked at this point, which it certainly should. However, if it isn't and the T-Mob CSR refuses to unlock the phone ... you have one more option available. With T-Mob, you can purchase a pre-paid SIM and have it on the T-Mobile network for a month or two to finish off any contractual commitments T-Mobile still requires. That would cost you money, but it could be a last-ditch solution if you need it.

Same Problem,Still unlock one plus 7 pro

T-Mobile Unlocked Bootloader

Looking to clear up some questions I have in regards to Unlocking the Bootloader on a T-Mobile version of the OnePlus 7 Pro. I'm sure others will have similar questions being that T-Mobile will be the only Carrier / Store in the US that will have the phone available for purchase in-store this Friday.
After doing some research it appears the T-Mobile OnePlus 6T Bootloader can be unlocked if you request and are granted a SIM Unlock from T-Mobile. As shown here on the OnePlus website
https://support.oneplus.com/app/ans...-bootloader-for-oneplus-6t-(t-mobile-edition)
Sure, its required to wait 7 days for the bootloader unlock request to process but other then that it seems straight forward. I am aware of T-Mobile being hit or miss when requesting a Sim unlock if the Device is not fully paid off but if the device is paid in full the unlock process should be as straight forward as described on the website correct?
And after unlocking the bootloader will there be any differences between an International OnePlus 7 unlocked bootloader vs a T-Mobile unlocked bootloader? ( besides the only hardware difference being the Dual sim )
Will Custom roms be Universal between both version?... So many questions!
Hopefully someone who has gone through the T-Mobile boot loader unlock process on the 6T can clear some questions up.
You can bootloader unlock the T-Mobile variant 6t without having to simunlock, just requires some extra steps to achieve without having to payoff phone or contact T-Mobile. You can order the dual SIM tray to get dual SIM working as well once unlocked, I'm sure the opo 7pro will be the same way, no hardware differences.
Everything should pretty much work with it as well. Just did the same process for a friend's pixel through tmo..I have fully converted 2 fajitas since Novembers launch. One will sim unlock and the other via sorcery.
My experience was different - T-mobile refused to unlock my phone unless I used it for over 40 days on their network. This was despite me being a 2+ year customer on a 12 person family plan and planning on staying on after as well, paying outright for the device, and requesting an unlock via support. Wasn't able to get the 64 digit unlock code through fastboot because my 7 Pro wasn't SIM unlocked.
Whole process pissed me off enough that I'm gonna return the phone and buy it off the OnePlus website instead.

Well you should attempt to call them again, say that you travel a lot and that's the reason why you paid the phone off, I hear stories that some reps will consider unlocking it for you, just gotta give them a story. I would attempt again before returning it and having to pay that restocking fee.

I called them 4 times, and after being put on hold everytime they wouldn't even let me get my receipt. Apparently what they mean by "email receipt" is that they'll send you the document on a My T-Mobile account that can only be accessed by the owner of the account (in my case, I'm on a family plan with the owner in a different city). Long story short - They wouldn't let me do anything, even though my name was associated with the account. I complained enough that they said they'll waive the restocking fee, but it was a customer service nightmare. Already got the phone on OnePlus's website, and thank god for that. T-Mobile charged me 790 bucks in CA for just the phone. OnePlus gave me the phone, 6 months of accidental screen damage protection, a 60 dollar case and earphones bundle and 3 day shipping for 770.

I had this same issue when I had to get my OP6T sim unlocked from T-Mo. I called a bunch of times and they kept telling me no. As soon as I sent a tweet to the T-Mo support handle, they had it sim unlocked within a day. I didn't even have one payment made at that point. I've seen a lot of people have way more success with T-Mo twitter support since it's more of a marketing ploy it seems.

The way I see it, if that's how the customer experience is gonna be for something so minor, I don't wanna go back to them with bigger issues with the 7 Pro if or when I face them.

That's definitely how I felt after the whole ordeal. It left a sour taste in my mouth, but that $300 trade-in deal they had for the 6T was too good to pass up.
Haven't bought a carrier phone since the first Google Nexus days, so I thought maybe the carriers have changed since then. Bad mistake, back to buying unlocked only going forward again lol, I just ordered the OP7 Pro straight from OnePlus this morning.

Yes and guys that unlock bin is unique to a specific device, imei, and serial number ... Lol ... Talk to TMO on Twitter, they will unlock early if u have a tenure. Soon as we have a MSM tool we can prob decrypt and make a backdoor..
I was able to call into TMobile this morning and get my device unlocked even with financing. I just told them that I would be traveling for 3 months and the temporary unlock is for only 2 months and I didn't want to have to call in on that 3rd month to fight and get a 3rd month temp unlock. They agreed with me and said that I was approved to get it permanently unlocked. As soon as I got off the call I used the app to unlock my phone.

How?
Just fastboot oem unlock?
Just got off the phone with TMobile. One of the requirements of having the phone unlocked is to use the phone on T-Mobile network for 40 days. Which I have no problem with. Really enjoying this phone.
TMobile offered two prepay on EIP to unlock. JOD won't unlock the phone.
Just called three times. I was told they won't do it. I even offered to pay for the whole phone.
Do you have to have the SIM unlock to unlock the bootloader.

Oneplus 7 Pro T-Mobile Network Lock

Hi everybody,
It's great to finally "participate" after having found so many helpful posts.
As so many other people, I was fooled into buying a Oneplus 7 Pro, which I was told, was SIM unlocked.
Once I got the phone and inserted my SIM, a message popped up saying it is network locked to T-Mobile.
Here's what I've tried:
- T-Mobile Device Unlock app did not work.
(Some kind of error message)
- Flashed international
- Flashed T-Mobile again
- Flashed DP3
- Unlocked bootloader
Nothing works!
One of those websites that charges to unlock phones what's to charge me 90 euros for this, but I know how trustworthy that is. It's a lot of money.
With so many ways to unlock phones now a days, I'm surprised no one has been able to crack this thing.
Could it be just a question of time?
I'm sure someone will soon find a way, or if there already is a way, but I haven't found it, could someone please share a tutorial or a link, something please?
Sorry about this being my first post, but this is, hopefully just the beginning.
Thanks to all.
Yesterday I tried something else, from a video on YouTube for the modem/SIM unlock for the 6T.
Going through the command prompt in Windows and using the "fastboot erase modemst1" it did not work on the 7 Pro.
Any ideas as to how to get this command working on the 7 Pro?
Thanks
I have the same problem. I payed someone on ebay to unlock it but they refunded me as they were not able to unlock it.
Would be nice to find a solution .

They can't do it, got refunded. Neither does removing modemst1 and st2 partitions
Thanks for adding to that
At least now I know not to try those sites.
Sooner or later, there must be some way to crack these things.
Wouldn't it be possible to just make it think it's a GM1910 or a GM1913?
Completely replace the entire software from scratch.
It might be possible because the hardware is all the same...........? Right?
I am in the same situation. They couldn't unlock my phone and made a refund (ebay).
I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the international version.
I made a backup of my efs by TWRP.
Then I erase the efs areas (modemst1, modemst2, fsg, fsc) by using the QFIL program, but it did not work.
I found a comment on 4pda forum that efs data is recovered from the "/dev/block/by-name/oem_dycnvbk" section.
I made a backup of this section by using "dd if=/dev/block/by-name/oem_dycnvbk of=/sdcard/oem_dycnvbk.img" and then I cleaned it up with QFIL as well.
After that, my IMEIs became 0, but the phone also does not want to receive the network.
I will try something else, if you have any ideas - write.
One solution would be if someone would dump their partitions, particularly a phone that has been locked on Tmo and now is unlocked, then compare to see what's changed..
The only way to currently SIM unlock the T-Mobile version, is with the T-Mobile Unlock app that is a part of the T-Mobile firmware. To be eligible for a permanent unlock, you must meet all of T-Mobile's requirements for the device unlock.

I think I'm going to hold on to the phone for a little longer to see if someone comes up with a solution.
Once November comes around I'll put it up for sale on ebay. Maybe someone from the US will buy it to use it on T-Mobile.
How about reprogramming the T-Mobile Unlock APP in a way that it will issue an unlock code locally with a PC and not through the T-Mobile servers.
Is this a possibility?
Is there a disgruntled T-Mobile employee who wants to help???
I'm not a programmer, so I don't know what the heck I'm talking about or if this is even possible, but if one of the developers were to get their hands on the full Unlock APP code (or whatever it's called) then wouldn't it be possible to reverse engineer it and have it create an unlock code for the phone without having to go through T-Mobile?
Similar to cracking a game downloaded from torrents, there's usually a crack attached to it that tells your PC it's a retail version.
Any ideas?
i have been working on unlocking mine as well,i have a few theories on how it can be done. the only way is with the t-mobile unlock app. so i started there, i logged all the data that is sent to and from the server with wireshark and dont know were to go from there. The SSL is encrypted or i could see the important parts. also im thinking if they only use the imei to unlock then if it is changed to one that has already been unlocked then the app should work as normal and unlock it.and then just change imei back. i have also tried finding a modem from a gm1917 that is unlocked to just flash it over ours. i think i have tried every possible way.even payed sites. got my money back from cellunlocker.net and now unlock-panda.com is working on it. also had a hacker on Instagram working on it with no luck. he said the server kicked it back saying it was encrypted . i got mine off of ebay it is still tried to a account and has over due bill. Even tried T-mobile twitter and they wouldn't take my money to activate a new account .
That's great headway with the IMEI idea and using the app to record all info going back and forth. Too bad it didn't work.
Does anyone have any other ideas? What partitions to delete/wipe...modemst1-2 won't do anything...
I figured out the writing part and can change on oneplus 7 pro. With free software lol. Now just trying to get the numbers summited to the server and to see if it will work

T-mobile op8 sim unlock

So I'll preface this post by saying I can see there is an older thread that's related but has been locked so that's why I'm creating this one. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction of getting my op8 unlocked. It was purchased through t-mobile and is still being paid off. From what I can tell is it should be possible to get it unlocked I just don't know where to turn too. I've thought about calling t-mobile but from what I can tell is they typically offer temporary unlock codes and I'm not sure if that will suit me in my pursuit of rooting my phone. Anyways any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance.

You do not have to have it paid off. The usually want you to wait about 2 months and two payments and will issue a permanent unlock.
They have the ability to press a button and unlock, they may just not do it.

No not yet but I will here shorty. They've done it for me in the past without issue but I was an active duty air force person going overseas so hopefully they'll unlock me once again as a civy.
Call sprint customer service tell them you talked to oneplus and in order to get your phone working you need to downgrade software and the only way to do that is to unlock bootloader and only way to do that is a sim unlock if they won't do it request to speak with tier 2 in oklahoma they will call you m-f and as soon as you say that they process sim unlock
I just hit the TMobile permanent unlock to see if it would work and it did!
Permanent unlock allows toggling of OEM Unlock in developer options.
I am a Sprint-turned-Tmo OP8 user.
Does this mean I'm simply waiting for them to send email with bin file?

T-Mobile 8T+ unlock

Why do I read posts on here about everyone having success in getting t-mobile to unlock their phones even when their still being financed and I have talked to 5 different reps and everyone of them has flat out told me they will not unlock my phone until I pay it off?
I use the same recommended story that I'm an app developer and I need my bootloader unlocked which requires the device to be unlocked.

Have you been with T-Mobile long? I suspect they're more willing if you've been a customer for years and have remained in good standing, always paying your bills in time. Not saying that you haven't, I just think that will help. Maybe they're less inclined with new customers, though I'm just speculating.
Get at T-Force on Twitter, that's what I did. I was honest with them, told them I had to travel (so the unlock for me just happens to also help me here). They initially tried to do the temporary unlock and when that didn't work for whatever reason, they forced the full unlock. Took 5 minutes tops. Of course, YMMV...it depends on the rep you get. If one won't do it, try again the next day and you'll likely get a different rep.

they helped me with the unlock today.

So I would love if I could get this XDA community alive as far as the KB2007 is concerned. To update everyone with the process thus far.
I bought two Oneplus 8T+ From T-Mobile less than a month ago. Also started new service with them, go me!!!
I love the functionality of a rooted device. I've been using a non rooted S9+ on att for the last 2+ years.
So here we are.... I buy the phones, take them home. Only to see my OEM unlock greyed out..... DAMMIT.
I call t-mobile, they tell me I have to wait 40 days from the date purchased for them to unlock the SIM. Mark the day on my calendar.
Not really patient for that, so I started looking on good ole' XDA.
To my surprise I find some info that says I should message t-mobile on fb.
Why not??? Lets try it. They got the unlock done within 5 minutes.
Permanent unlock lets gooo!!!! So I reach out to oneplus, to get the bootloader unlocked. Got the unlock code. Used the website, pending application! GREAT!
So questions for the future. Is there any good OnePlus k2007 OFFICIAL Roms out?
And should I be fine using https://androidbiits.com/root-t-mobile-oneplus-8t-plus-5g-kb2007-easily/
as a source to root from? Any information would be gladly appreciated.

Lineage, crDroid, etc, all works with KB2007 with single SIM support. You can flash Global/EU/India OOS for dual SIM support.
It says there are no known issues from converting. So it won't make it anymore difficult for me to connect to tmobile towers? Is there anything I need to lookout for while doing this? Seems like a wild method. Why does the conversion need to happen. Jc?
Radio is not affected.
Do you want Dual SIM? That's the big thing it enables, along with faster updates w/o T-Mobile in the way.

Dual sim isn't a nesesaty. Just want to be able to root the device.
The faster update sounds nice.

If you flashed back to stock by using MSM for instance you have to start over as if you are taking the phone from the box.
Everything you did prior to the recovery is history and irrelevant to the current state of your phone with the exception of the unlock token.
You don't need a new one the original one will work.
nm i forgot to follow with oem unlock

Why do I read posts on here about everyone having success in getting t-mobile to unlock their phones even when their still being financed and I have talked to 5 different reps and everyone of them has flat out told me they will not unlock my phone until I pay it off?
I use the same recommended story that I'm an app developer and I need my bootloader unlocked which requires the device to be unlocked.

Sorry bro, he closed that thread a while back. It was legit, he unlocked both of mine. Keep a look out to see if he will do it again. Otherwise you may have to call TMO and persuade them to help or tweet the help desk. Happy modding!
So maybe I can give some help with information. T-Mobile will not allow you to seamlessly network unlock without a full payoff. You can typically contact T-Mobile's Twitter and get them to unlock it if you have a specific reason. According to someone I know directly in their support, they will typically unlock with minimal hassle if you have at least three device payments. However, you can typically get an unlock earlier if you give them a valid reason. A lot of people reported network issues with an OTA. Referencing this, and informing them that a bootloader unlock is necessary for repair, they unlocked mine with literally a single payment on file. It took a bit of persistence (and even referencing the XDA thread), but they did unlock it for me. Give it a shot. Worst they can say is no.

i'll have to give it a try. this is my first tmobile OP variant and i'm already upset that i didnt buy unlocked directly, i just didnt have the full amount up front and really needed a new phone. went with the 8.
Look in the 8+ forums. I just got my 8+ unlocked a few days back. I messaged the person and she got back within about two days. After that I sent her my info and I was unlocked in a couple hours.

Which thread is it in I'm having trouble finding it.
I just called T-Mobile and they approved the unlock for my OP8 (purchased in August 2020). My reasoning was T-Mobile is paying half of the phone (50% off deal) and told them I will be paying my half early (around $230 left). So they said yes to unlock my phone. Give it a try.
What if you buy a T-Mobile locked 8 on ebay? I thought you could still unlock bootloader with msm, am I screwed?

You need to request an unlock token (bin file) from Oneplus to flash before you unlock the bootloader.

Yeah but I bought the phone off of eBay so I don't think they will unlock. I am thinking of paying for an unlock service that costs around $80-$100 (I don't know of any legitimate ones) or returning the phone and buying the n10 5g. The only thing preventing me from getting the n10 5g is the lcd screen, that is a major issue for me.

though you bought it, are you a tmobile customer? I think if the phone is already paid off, and you use the phone on their network for at least 40 days straight, then you should qualify for an unlock.

I got my TMo OP8 off Swappa and just requested the unlock code from the OnePlus website the day it arrived. It took 7 days literally to the minute to get my unlock code, which I hear is the norm.
But also note that we're all talking about 2 different things: a bootloader unlock (which is what I did) and a carrier unlock (which is what OP was after, I believe).

when i checked the oneplus website for bootloader unlock it required an unlock code from tmobile. can you link me to the page where i can request the bootloader unlock?
edit: I am an idiot, disregard that.
Can you help me with getting the unlock token? what exact commands did you use to get unlock code? I followed the oneplus guide but get the response-
"C:\platform-tools>fastboot.exe oem get_unlock_code
FAILED (remote: 'Please enable OEM unlocking in Settings first')
fastboot: error: Command failed"
my understanding is that you need to sim unlock before you can oem unlock.

this is what i had the ebay seller i got my phone from do, and apparently they are going to unlock tonight; the rep said the phone needs to be used for at least 48hrs on tmo network, but preferably 40 days before unlocking. It seems they have an official policy on carrier unlocking and then another policy which is only used on twitter; all very confusing. my concern now is that custom roms will not work correctly on tmo op8t, as verizon owner have reported crdroid not working for them.
Ok mobdeep is back in the game of unlocking TMO phones. Head to his thread and read the info. Happy modding!
So I have an unlocked carrier t-mobile device and I want an unlocked bootloader. Who do I need to contact to get the 7 days rolling? Thanks

If you guys are wanting to root your Tmobile/Sprint phone here is the guide, i unlocked my phone, unlocked my bootloader & rooted it. To get token it took exactly a week. Here are the guides: Android 11 how to root T-MOBILE OP8 5G
TIP: Go into Settings>Wifi&Network>SIM&Network:> Network Unlock. This should get your phone unlocked which is the first step. Then head over to unlock token - OnePlus (United States) and apply to get your token, which took me 1 week exactly. Here is also a tool incase you brick your phone: Unbrick tool to restore your device to OxygenOS
