MIUI Version for the UK - update - Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Questions & Answers

Just want to check with people what MIUI version they are on? Perferably for users in the UK. My MIUI version is 12.0.6.0 Stable?
I was under the impression that I should be on 12.5 by now and Android 11. I check for updates everyday and nothing seems to be found.
Just want to check this is the case and I haven't got an issue with my phone.
I really want to swap to a ASOP ROM based on 11 but want the 108mp camera to work, but no ROMS seem to offer this other than the Official MIUI, or the ROMs do not advertise it at least.
Hopeing someone can tell me if I should be on a later version number or not.
TIA

12.5 isn't stable yet but there should be an OTA for Android 11 yeah. You could flash the zip manually even with locked bootloader by using the "select zip" method.

Here's the recovery zip
Xiaomi.eu is probably the best ROM for keeping Google pay etc. and I can confirm it has the 108mp mode.

Does Global Developer ROM support Android Pay?

Im thinking about switching from Global Stable to Global Developer ROM (based on suggestions here) but am wondering if my banking apps and android pay will still work?
I like the fact that the global dev gets weekly OTA updates. But what will happen when the phone starts getting a bit older, will they still release weekly updates? Also is it possible to easily switch back to global stable rom in the future (like when Global Stable is on a new release)?
As far as I am aware, it should support android pay. I have the global developer ROM installed (switched from global stable to developer which is very easy and doesn't even need a full wipe), but I also installed magisk so I could hide root and it allowed android pay to work.
I believe you need to unlock your bootloader to switch from global stable to global developer and an unlocked bootloader will cause android pay to fail. I don't see why you can't re-lock the bootloader once you are on developer though.
As for the weekly OTA updates, they are "usually weekly". The latest developer ROM came out October 12th if I remember correctly and there hasn't been another one since. But I think that this is likely due to no major changes occurring. There was a release on the 19th, but the changes didn't affect our phone (5s plus) so we have not got that release yet. There should be a release today, but I only see one for the china developer ROM.
I do see that the global stable should be coming out November 2nd. So if you are wanting to go to developer just because it is "new and shiney", may as well wait for the 2nd and grab the global stable.
You can swith from global stable to global developer very easy. Just download the rom from miui.com then go to updater. Then click on the 3 dots and choose "choose the update package" so no root and no unlocked bootloader. But it wipes all your data so do a backup.
Google do certify only stable ROMs so Android Pay will not work on Global Developer ROM out of the box.
I have tested this at my own phone with vanila Global Developer ROM, locked boot loader and no root.
Other banking software may work or may doesn't work. It depends of the software vendor and what verification they are making.
I rolled back to Global Stable to avoid mess with Android Pay.

MIUI 12 and security updates

I'm still on MIUI 11 with no security updates on the phone. I tried force updating via settings and it stated no updates were available. Does anyone have any ideas?
So I have a similar question. I found the latest MIUI 11 stable ROM, however I can't tell if the version is correct. Can anyone help with this?
The file I found under the global software forums is this. QJACNXM
The version on my phone says this QJAEUXM
I could not find this particular file name anywhere.

OTA Mi 10 Ultra (Miui 12.0.15)

Hello,
I'm new to Xiaomi world, and i want to understand some points :
I have a Xiaomi 10 Ultra with MIUI 12.0.15.QJJCNXM Stable by xiaomi.eu installed by the Trandingshenzen + TWRP 3.4.2b-0623 wzsx150
Today i received an OTA notification for the update to 12.1.1.0.RJJCNXM
I need some answers to understand how Xiaomi world works :
1-What is my rom exactly ? official, no-official, fan-build ...
2-Base on the first question, the OTA i recevied is Official also or other variant (no-official, Fan-build) ?
3-As i have a custom recovery and unlocked bootloader, the OTA can be installed on my phone or it will brick my phone ?
4-If answer to question 3 is yes(OTA Installed), am i loosing the TWRP or not ? (Important question)
5-If answer to 3 is No, how can go get OTA updated ? (maybe flashing a full rom will be a solution, this will make me loosing all data ? and TWRP also ? )
Last one 6-which are official/Stable roms available for the Mi 10 ULTRA beside chinese orignal one ?
Thanks a lot guys for your understanding and your help.
Regards,
1-What is my rom exactly ? official, no-official, fan-build ...
It is the stable ROM branch. It is based on the official latest stable Chinese version, so as near official as it can get.
2-Base on the first question, the OTA i recevied is Official also or other variant (no-official, Fan-build) ?
Any OTA downloaded version will be the next stable released version based on the above answer.
3-As i have a custom recovery and unlocked bootloader, the OTA can be installed on my phone or it will brick my phone ?
You will not brick your phone by using OTA notified updates. I would remind you to use a pattern screen lock currently as the pin or password versions may not work with your twrp version. It won't hurt if you try but as it won't decrypt your ROM, you can't update, so just reboot system and change screen lock to pattern and try again.
4-If answer to question 3 is yes(OTA Installed), am i loosing the TWRP or not ? (Important question)
As long as you stay on EU ROMs, your twrp will remain. If you change branch to Chinese stock, it will be removed. But you would have to do this manually, so you would know. Your OTA updates will remain EU.
5-If answer to 3 is No, how can go get OTA updated ? (maybe flashing a full rom will be a solution, this will make me loosing all data ? and TWRP also ? )
If you flash the same branch ROM manually, you need to just wipe dalvik and cache. However if you decide to go to weekly, beta, branch ROMs or back to stock Chinese, you would then need to Format due to possible partition differences between them. If you don't, it may boot loop.
Last one 6-which are official/Stable roms available for the Mi 10 ULTRA beside chinese orignal one ?
Currently only one custom ROM is available and that it EU versions, either stable or weekly, beta. There was another available but that was based on the EU ROM but more like an ASOP ROM. However, it looks like further development has now stopped.
Thanks a lot for your prompt answer, very clear.
So basically the branch rom MIUI by Xiaomi.eu has it own OTA system, which gonna update to the new MIUI by Xiaomi.eu and keep my TWRP as before (just need to decrypt rom when installing) ?
I saw that you have also a Xiaomi 10 Ultra, which rom are you using by the way ?
thanks again for your time
Yes, that's right, its own OTA will keep it on the same branch using twrp.
I use the EU weekly or beta branch of ROM. I've never had any show stoppers in the updates and obviously got A11 earlier and miui12.5 too. It's taken from the Wednesday Chinese nightly each week, converted to EU format and ready normally by Friday and for OTA on Saturday evening. Due to in house testing and Chinese holidays, it sometimes doesn't update every week but not far off.
If you decide to change to weekly, then you will need to format once flashed but after that and as long as you stay on it, just dalvik and cache wipes after each update. Again, please remember that twrp may not be able to decrypt the phone for updating unless you use a pattern screen lock.
Enjoy your phone, I came from. Huawei P40 pro plus due to Google issues and use at work but this phone is pretty much as good, if not better. Lots of people here and over at the Xiaomi EU forums to answer any questions.
thanks a lot, very kind from. Just updated to OTA android 11 Miui 12.1.1.
(My TWRP decrypt both ways : Pin and Pattern, i tried both)
Was hoping to get P40 Pro also, but as they dont provide bootloader unlock anymore so i get the Ultra which is way better until now.
cheers

MIUI 12.2.4 Global Downgrade Questions

Hey there forum !
So it's a well known problem MIUI 12.2.4 is a proper mess. I upgraded thinking it's going to be a normal update but it screwed over all my stuff.
After reading many guides and tutorials on the internet I'm still left with many unanswered questions and that's why I'm creating this post to help others and myself get over this mess.
1.) Today I can unlock my bootloader after a week of struggling with this new update.
2.) I choose 12.0.4 Android 10 since this was the last stable update I had and it worked like a charm
What questions do I have? :
I have mi flash software but I don't know what to flash. Is it enough to download MIUI 12.0.4 Fastboot and flash that or do I have to flash firmware and rom after?
I noticed some people are flashing firmwares also ? When do I flash only rom vs firmware also?
Thank you very much
Miflash only works with Fastboot files(TGZ).
firmware contains only the necessary instructions for the hardware to be able to work with the operating system installed on the device .
Xiaomi EU roms works better than stock rom(android 11).

Cannot upgrade to 12.5 MIUI

I have a Russian (thanks Amazon !!) Redmi 9a 32Gb/2gb. It is currently running latest 12.0.x ROM version, but i would like to upgrade it to 12.5.
I see on xiaomi ROM site there is currently a 12.5.x version for Russian version, but the OTA never arrived and if i download the recovery zip file and install it manually, it fails verification and stops.
Is there a way to install 12.5 without unlocking the bootloader ?
Is 12.5 supported on this specific redmi 9a ?
thanks !
mmm... spflashtool might work, but Ive only ever used it on a bircked device to unbrick it, never on a functional device to just change the ROM version, but if you really wanna do it without unlocking bootloader thats your best choice.
I will say anyway, its probably safer to unlock bootloader install recovery and install the rom from there, its your call tho.
Heres how I unbricked my device

Right now I cannot unlock the bootloader, maybe in the next months I might try (I want to wait for the warranty to expire). My concern is that my version of Redmi 9A with just 2G of Ram is actually not compatible with MIUI 12.5. The 12.5 rom is actually available, but OTA will leave me in the 12.0 branch and verification fails if I try to install the ROM manually. I would not want to brick it by installing an unsupported ROM.
My phone model is M2006C3LG and the ROM I have right now says I have 1.8Gb of available RAM, I don't think you have a different device from mine.
Im a total n00b so I may be wrong about this next thing, but, I think the only difference is what version of MIUI they were sold with since the hardware doesn't allow downgrades further than the stock ROM that came with the device.
There is always antirollback after MIUI 10, but I think its even further locked for the original stock ROM that came to the device, but yeah, this is all my own speculation due to a bricking incident I faced.
The model number is the same, but the 9A was available with different sizes of RAM 2 or 3 or 4 Gb. Mine is the low end 32/2 which is the model still on sale today. If you still have 1.8 Gb of free RAM you very likely has the 3 or 4 GB model.
Maybe you are right, the OTA allows only for updates within the same MIUi version; I saw several guides on-line and i think i will try the miflash tool and switch to the global version. I have to find a way to unlock bootloader without Xiaomi account (no way in hell I'm signing up for that) and without sim card (this phone is used as a smaller wi-fi only tablet). There are some tools for an offline unlock, I will try those first.
It is incredible how Xiaomi is making it complex just to update to a stable official ROM; given also how much bloatware is shovelled with the stock ROM, I'm not sure I will ever consider Xiaomi again.

Thanks for the info. So you upgraded to latest 12.0 without moving to 12.5, any reason for not trying 12.5 ? The phone is currently barely usable with Android 10, maybe Android 11 is even heavier, but why not give it a try ?
I saw several youtube videos and guides and by using MI Flash with a Fastboot image (scattered tgz) it should be a total reflash of the phone.
