Xperia XZ F8331 rooting status unknown - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

Backstory
Device was working absolutely fine before, it was bootloader unlocked and ran few ROMs. Few weeks ago I tried to flash a GSI which freaked the phone out big time.
Ended up restoring to stock but little I knew it locked the bootloader. I do have the original TA partition backup and I've tried to manual flash it from Flashtool, no luck.
Of course once it restored it identified itself as F8332 and wouldn't take F8331 ROMs, had to pack F8331 ROM as F8332 with Flashtool.
Status as of now
Entering service menu it shows "Rooting status: unknown". Enabling OEM unlock and trying to send commands via fastboot says "command not allowed".
Downgrading to Marshmallow breaks cameras and SIM, on Oreo only camera comes back with weird black spots which weren't there before.
Any clues? Unlocking with Flashtool returns back with a weird error and I can't exploit root stock MM.
All I care about is getting it back to original state or at least bootloader unlocked.

ADB Sideload not working for me

Despite all the good posts on here I have been unable to get my phone out of a boot loop, and am now quite desperate for help please!
If anyone can point me in the direction of a rom or kernel that will definitively work on my phone I will be eternally grateful
It was ok until I decided to unlock bootloader and root it.
Unlock bootloader went well, as did flashing TWRP and also CWM – I have a suspicion that it was rooting with OneClickRoot caused the problem.
After over a day of failure I discovered how to do ADB Sideload at this thread: I used CM11 I got from this thread: and also tried a Stock one from here:
sadly nothing worked, and I'm now afraid of filling my phone storage with large files. I have added some screen shots of my failed attempts with TWRP & CWM
they both fail, and TWRP does warn me not to reboot as I have no OS installed, but I had to keep on trying.
Another weird thing is that I cannot always reboot to recovery from the Hboot screen and have to re-flash a recovery image each time.

SOLVED
no need to reply now folks, I got the job done ... see here

Unable to root with latest stock flash

A little background
I accidentally disabled and re-enabled developer options and forgot to reactivate oem unlock. when I swapped out my sim card for a trip, it generated the "custom binary blocked by FRP"
I went ahead and solved it by flashing a stock rom.
Here's where my main problem happened :
I can't seem to root the device and I can't seem to be able to flash a custom rom over it either.
When I attempted to root via cf auto root or Magisk (via Odin), the phone will load up then I get a screen saying "Verification Failed" + a notice that the only way to fix it is to do a factory reset.
I just reflash the stock rom back but lose root.
I also tried doing a dirty flash of SuperStock and while the initial install was successful, it won't load up. I left it alone for an hour and nothing happened.
I don't know what else I can do to atleast just root the phone so I can use titanium backup to backup all my app data.
I'm assuming that when I flashed the stock unrooted rom, it went ahead and encrypted my internal storage which is the issue I'm having right now.
I would love to get this sorted out.
I've attached a ss of the build info
Thanks!

Phone can't detect sim card after flashing, no IMEI

I flashed a root rom, didn't work. Flashed a stock rom, phone turned on normally. All functions are working fine except that no sim card can be detected and the phone's IMEI is gone! During flashing of stock rom I didn't flash BL as that caused errors.
I used a 7.0 stock rom, should I use 6.01 instead?
Edit: Camera and home button seems to have issues too. Can't use the home button without opening camera, and camera doesn't work.
Is your S7 fake?
Where did you get the stock rom from?
Did you write down or remember the "Build Number" before you flash your phone?
If Yes, redownload the stock rom that with the same "Build Number" and reflash with the latest Odin.
Also, make sure to enable USB debugging and OEM unlock.
When You use odin to flash a stock rom to your phone, make sure it look something like this on your computer before you click Start:

Pixel 2 Stuck On Bootloader, Can't Boot/Recovery [ERROR: Slot Unbootable: Load Error]

Hey guys! I have a Pixel 2 that basically bricked this morning. When booting only the bootloader comes up. The device can't boot into the OS or even the recovery.
Now I understand the Pixel 2's are dual partition and my "Boot-slot" is "b" not "a". I don't remember changing it though, that is if the factory default is "a". I'm not sure if everything is on "a" and that's why this is happening but I can't switch the boot slot over to "a" through fastboot as "slot change is not allowed in lock state". I did not enable USB Debugging so I can't change Lock State, or at least not that I know of.
Does anyone know how to get this phone back up and running?

Re flash factory image.
You don't need usb debugging for fastboot, only ADB. Unlock your bootloader using fb, then reflash the factory image, as enzyne said. Yeah, when you unlock, you're going to lose everything, as it completely wipes your device, but at least you'll have your phone back.

No Play-Protect Certification despite complete OOS reinstall

So I wasnt able to use GPay anymore when I rooted my device a month or two ago. Understandable.
To fix that, I've tried unrooting: didnt work. Now I reinstalled OOS entirely, wiped the whole device first, and it still doesnt work.
Do I need to lock the bootloader again or what are the criteria to get the certification?
Here some screenshots

Wipe all is different with erase all, if you really want to wipe all use toolallinone firmware recovery flash and select wipe all and reboot options. Gpay probly sees the root files or magisk manager somewhere still
I don't really think that that was the case. I wiped everything in TWRP and then formatted the data as well.
In case someone else is facing this problem, this is what I did:
Boot into fastboot and re-lock the bootloader.
Code:
fastboot oem lock
I was then only able to boot into fastboot, and since the bootloader is locked, you can't boot into TWRP etc.
You then turn off the device and use MSM Tool to re-install OOS.
