P40 Pro Soft Bricked looking for Firmware 11.0.0.168 (C432E3R4P1) zip file - Huawei P40 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello,
After successfully downgraded my P40 Pro to 10.1.0.131 and installed GMS on it, I wanted to go back to the latest firmware using HiSuite and HiSuite Proxy and I have briked my phone because I haven't selected anything in the Cust and Preloaded areas.
After installing 11.0.0.168 the phone rebooted telling me I have the wrong software installed and I have tried the eRecovery method to make my phone work again without success, I get the error message: Get package info failed.
I have tried to modify the .dll file of HiSuite with my phone model and use HiSuite Proxy again but I get the error: Phone not supported
Then I have tried to flash the software using an USB stick, here I see there is connection but I find only 10.x.x.x firmwares and is telling me the version is not correct.
So now I am looking for a .zip file of the firmware 11.0.0.168, I hope by flashing this one (having also the Cust and Preloaded zips) my phone will start again.
Do you know where can I find it?
Thank you in advance !

I'm searching for
11.0.0.168 (C432E8R4P1) zip
for weeks now. But there's only a C185-leak available at this moment. I have tried that one, but it does not work. Same for all 10.x.x.xxx-versions: "Incompatible with the current version" (11.0.0.170)
Checking all the sites once a day. If I can find something I'll let you know.

Another device stuck on FRD-L09C432B394

First of all, sorry for both repeating the topic, and for my ignorance!
I have an Honor 8 which is stuck on FRD-L09C432B394 and Android security patch level: 5 August 2017. I have received at least 2 OTA updates since I purchased the device almost 2 years ago but not since September last year (2017)!
I’m in the UK, I did not do anything with the device since I purchased it, and using the latest HiSuite version (HiSuite 8.0.1.300_OVE), no updates available either!
I downloaded a ROM from // huawei - firmware com/ (Sorry, can’t post links!) which is holds the description:
Build: FRDL09C432B521 800521FRDL19C432B521 800521FRDL02C432B521 800521
Android: 8.x - Oreo
Emui: 8.0
Size: 1.38GB
When I unzip this file I only copied UPDATE.APP to dload on MicroSD card, when trying to update via *#*#2846579#*#*, it starts but then fails at 5%!
Now I did some research and it seems like there’s more files required to update, when I unzip the downloaded ROM I only get the following files though:
full_mainpkg.tag (1KB)
new_filecontext_system (27KB)
new_filecontext_vendor (49KB)
UPDATE.APP (2,920,857KB)
VERSION.mbn (1KB)
And one folder named META-INF containing a few files.
When I did some research it seems like the files required are:
1) update.zip
2) update_full_xxxx_yyyy.zip ("xxxx" and "yyyy" = depending from hardware model/region)
3) update_data_full_public.zip
Where do I get these from? Is it UPDATE.APP or update.zip?
What am I missing? And if anyone knows, why am I not getting the update via HiSuite?
Thank you in advance!

I'm not sure if you mean flash via HiSuite as in downloading the Oreo ROM then use HiSuite to install it? Or just use HiSuite to check for updates and let it install it?
I do have the latest version of HiSuite (8.0.1.300_OVE) installed. Checking for updates through the software says that I've got the latest official version

You Sir are a genius! :good::good:
I didn’t have the time to try it last week but I just did and miraculously your 2 Update.app files have worked and flashed my device to B399!
Immediately after I got an OTA update to B404! But stuck there unfortunately! No updates available OTA nor on HiSuite after B404! Also trying to instal B407 via dload keeps failing at 5% every time! I read in your thread saying you haven’t done anything to the B399 file? Just deleted ‘Other files’ and rezipped? It worked anyway! Would be great if you could advise me on how to do it for a B407 or B521! If not, you’re still a genius!
Stuck on B404 now! An upgrade from B394, but wouldn’t mind moving up the line a bit!

I’m not sure what do you mean? Do I need to expect a bit of patience to get B406/7? I don’t have any patience left, I've had enough with Huawei
I’ve downloaded about 6 different firmware files from B405 to B521, I always tried the FullOTA-MF files first, then OTA-MF, all keeps failing at 5% but I ALWAYS get the ‘Software install failed’ message at 5% every time I try the SD Card\dload\UPDATE.APP method Are the firmware files I’m downloading corrupt? Your files did work so I don't think it's anything to do with my phone, but your files are the only ones that worked! I can't get my head around it

You first have to check if installation of each firmware is approved using Firmware Finder app. If it says it's not approved, it will fail at 5%, so there is no point downloading them
For me on my L09-C432, 406 was approved but was not displayed in system update app, I had to use Firmware Finder proxy to send it to system update app. Then I got 407, and could update to Oreo using hisuite on PC.
This method will fail on newer versions, but if 406 is approved for you and not displayed in system update app you can try it.

That’s what’s frustrating me, all the firmware files I’ve downloaded are approved for my device Or so does Firmware Finder app says! Yet they all fail to install at 5%!
Proxy method doesn’t work on B404, or at least not working for me So nothing is working now
I’ve had enough with this phone, just to avoid smashing it into a wall next time it drives me crazy, I’m looking to get another phone, Xiaomi Mi A2 might be the one. Still looking though
Successful update
Frustrated as I was I decided to try one last time and I’m running Oreo now
Trick is to use the official Honor rollback package from Android 7.0 to Android 6.0 (B131 in UK), let it preform OTA update back to Android 7 (B380 if I remember correctly) then use Firmware Finder application's in-app proxy to let the phone do the update at this stage! And it worked!
It downloaded the ROM files then when download completed it said the package has changed and requested to download again! I downloaded that and it started installation! Everything went well during installation but at the end it said it has failed because it could not find the update package I thought it failed and restarted the device only to find it running Android 8 and EMUI 8! Full reset and all working flawlessly
HiSuite acknowledges the update and offers to rollback to B407 if you’re having problems! Please note that I was stuck on B394! So even rolling back would be an upgrade
I’ve tested different apps, NFC (I never use it for contactless payments though so can’t confirm that, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t work) Also GPS and everything’s working just fine! Only issue is/was battery draining but that’s due to the auto launch in battery settings! I changed some of the application settings into manual launch and all great now!
Thank you for all those who helped :good: And hopefully this might help some of the frustrated Honor 8 users like myself! And hopefully won’t be stuck on B521 now!

Sorry for the possibly stupid question, but how did you find/apply the rollback package? Was it through firmware finder or is there some other way?

No such thing as stupid question! We all need to start somewhere
Finding the rollback package is via the official Honor support website for (Preferably) the country where you purchased your handset from. Or if it was EU, any EU country.
Rollback process will be executed by downloading and unzipping 2 files, the Honor 8_Rollback Package_FRD-L09_from Android 7.0 EMUI 5.0 to Android 6.0 EMUI 4.1_C900B300 (Around 75 MB in size) and the Honor 8_Firmware_FRD-L09_Android 6.0_EMUI 4.1_CXYZB131 (Around 1.75GB in size).
Next you should have a MicroSD Card installed, formatted, and create a folder on root called dload.
Then Unzip the files you downloaded, will get you 2 Update.app files, copy the first one (From C900B300) to the dload folder, switch phone off, press Volume-, Volume+ and the Power button and don’t let go till system starts updating, this one won’t take long.
When finished, format you MicroSD Card, create dload folder again, then copy the second Update.app file (From CXYZB131) into the folder, same button combination to update. This update will take longer.
When finished, try Firmware Finder app immediately if you can and use the in-app proxy method to let your phone do the update, if it didn't work, let the phone do OTA update but don’t let it update too many times because Firmware Finder doesn’t work with newer System Update apps.
Hope that helps. And good luck :good:

Thanks for the post, finally got some time where I could try this out and i'm now upgraded to 8.0 from the B394 I was previously stuck on.
I noticed a huge lag when first running 8.0 but it seems to have settled.
For me everything seems to be running just fine, all my apps works, all hardware works and, as far as I can see in 0.5 days use the phone runs it all about as good as it did on 7.0 after the initial lag that is

Update issues after Downgrade

Hi all, I have downgraded my p40 pro to 131 to get google apps working. Then tried auto updates and it tells me that there is an update but same version 131, updated to 131 using auto update but it still keeps telling me that I'm on 131 and same version of update available. Connected to PC and use Hisuite and same story, tells me 131 update available (which I already have) and nothing else. Was able to update to 154 using proxy but now same story, it keeps telling me that 154 update available which I did auto update but I still get notification that I there is new update to 154. I cleared data and cache both for Huawei Core and Update app but still same story.
Please help!?!

thanks, another question is, will it wipe off the phone?
When I did mine, No. But remove or backup any personal stuff off your memory card if you have one, just in case. Note if you've done the GMS install, make sure you log into All you're accounts, ie YouTube etc first before upgrading firmware. Cause you won't be able to add later.

Update: Ok found it, it is via the advance button and paste the link there to check if it's approved or not.
Is this done via the HiSuit Proxy Advance button? how can i check if it's approved or not?
Use firmware finder to check it's an approved version.

Hmmm we are all on C636. No idea what went wrong. Only difference is 4RP1 and 5RP1. Any difference in those?
Same situation here, I downgrade to version 131 o install GSM and now the phone won't update.
I had to update it using HiSuite and now I'm on 183 version.
Hope there is a way to fix the OTA updates on the phone.
getting regular updates after installing GMS via googlefier
Doing some research I have found what is happening:
On your P40 Pro, in the "About phone" screen you can see the build number and then a number between ( ), example: Build number 10.1.0.131 (C636E8R5P1)
The number after the C will tell you the version or region of your firmware, in the example C636 = version/region 636
When you downgrade using a different version/region you will loose the OTA updates on the phone, and this will only be restored after you install your correct version/region firmware.
You will need to find the correct version of your firmware and have the "dload" version, and install it from external card. There is a video showing how to do this, but the link on the video is for a version/region 636, if you have a different version/region it won't fix anything.
Once you have the correct firmware and install it, you will begin receiving OTA again. This process, at least on my phone, erased everything, so be aware of this.

Any way to unbrick a P40 Pro? "Your device has loaded a different operating system"

So like a dummy I flashed the wrong firmware on my P40 Pro. LGRP6 instead of LGRP4. Now when booting it says "Your device has loaded a different operating system" and then goes straight to erecovery. In eRecovery, downloading and restoring the system doesn't work because it fails to retrieve package info.
I already tried everything possible with HiSuite Proxy, too. I read bricking a P40 Pro this way requires to replace the motherboard, but not sure how true that is. My phone is still under warranty, but I'd prefer to fix it myself, if possible.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, I just get retrieving package info failed. Every time
Then it seems motherboard replacement is the only known option left.
Same issue with me
I spent a month to fix it and didn't find a way.
I tried Chimera Mobile and it didn't helped.
The only thing that probably can help is SigmaKey software. If anybody has it please check and say did it helped or not.
Huawei don't want to replace it by warranty for me, that is why I try everything.

I can't find anybody with SigmaKey. Probably I'll go to replace the motherboard in the nearest future.
Other methods definetely don't help.
Do you have any update? Please share if yes.
Hi all! My device is finally fixed! It was fixed by disassembly, hardware testpoint and flashing of Android 11 via SigmaKey!
You have to find a very expirienced person to do this work. I can recommend one person in Moscow, Russia in private messages.
Disassembly is probably necessary

After 4 days trying everythingI found also a guy who told me exactly what you are saying. disassembly is required because of the test point. No other way currently.
SoI will go to a phone shop tomorrow to disassemble the back cover of my P40Pro+. Then the guy will do the whole flashing process via remote. But it's paid service for 30$. I decided to do or because I wanna use this phone.

The only other way is to try to replace the motherboard by warranty.
However, in my case Huawei refused me this.
I think 30$ is a good price because it was very difficult for me to find a person good enough to do it.
Hi guys. Just posting a small update here. I found a xda user who accepted to help me unbrick my P40 Pro for a donation via remote desktop. He will be using paid tools and hopefully it will unbrick the device. I'll post another update soon, to let you guys know the outcome. Fingers crossed!

It is not always possible without disassembly. (Like was in my case)
I wish you good luck but be ready for disassembly.
Another update. First of all big thanks to @oslo83 for accepting to help me with my bricked P40 Pro. Unfortunately things didn't go our way and the device is still bricked. The problem is that I flashed LGRP6 EMUI 11, with EMUI 10.1 preload & cust. A ****ty situation but it is what it is. @oslo83 advised me to take the device to Huawei repair center (it's still under warranty) and that's what I'm going to do.
However if anyone has a bricked P40 Pro, I still recommend oslo83 services, there's a chance your brick is different from mine and that he will be able to unbrick it. If not, he will issue a refund like he did for me.
Hi guys, I have a brilliant update for you guys:
The guy I was working on this issue was able to fix my phone remotely with SigmaKey. After hours of tries he made it!
There is no software solution yet - so the back cover has to be dissembled. I went to a phone shop at the corner and let them open it. After removing ca. 10 screws you can reach the "Test Point". There are some videos on YouTube which can support you. Its not easy but its makable.
The genius guy gives a step by step instruction what to do via WhatsApp.
So at the end my P40Pro+ works again and I am so happy! I will start the downgrade now (to install gms)and I will DEFINITELY use the correct FW this time
I can share the contact - send me a private message.
Another update hopefully the next one will be the FINAL one.
So like @oslo83 suggested, I contacted Huawei via chat on their official site. They accepted to repair my device for free with no problem. I sent my phone to the repair center and now I simply have to wait. The person in the Huawei chat told me it could take up to two weeks. And another thing, they let me know the phone will be updated to the latest firmware, so I probably won't be able to downgrade and install GMS, unless there is a way to install it on EMUI 11 (not sure). But at least I'll have a working P40 Pro again
I have the same problem. I'm tryingto fix it with hsuite proxy and the phone in fastboot&rescue mod
In HiSuiteConfig.xml I added to be able to enter the recovery mode
<rule type="ELS-N29" cnName="HUAWEI P40 Pro" enName="HUAWEI P40 Pro" option="" ></rule>
I'm testing to flash this:
Base version: ELS-LGRP4-OVS 10.1.0.176
Custom version: ELS-N29-CUST 10.1.0.8(C432)
Preload version: ELS-N29-PRELOAD 10.1.0.2(C432R5)
Checked "Recovery OS", CUST PKG and Preloaded PKG
So far it connects
I can download and unpack the firmware on the phone
but then I have an error-message on (Installing 0%) telling me, that on this phone the recovery mode is not available. I'm trying with different base firmware - but every attempt takes a lot of time.

Update: It's always the same error message after unpacking the files. So now I'm trying to install an EMUI11 rom.
Now testing with:
ELS-LGRP4-OVS 11.0.0.175
ELS-N29-CUST 11.0.0.3(C432)
ELS-N29-PRELOAD 11.0.0.3(C432R5)
Update: Failed to at 0% :-(

It looks like I have flashed the following:
"FirmWare" : "ELS-LGRP4-OVS 11.0.0.170"
"FirmWare" : "ELS-N29-CUST 11.0.0.3(C301)"
"FirmWare" : "ELS-N29-PRELOAD 11.0.0.3(C635R2)"
Still trying to reflash ... any ideas?
I've built now my own dload
using the files downloaded by hsuite over hisuite proxy inside Hisuite\ROM/
and copy them on a USB-C-drive /dload
trying the usb-flashing method. So far it went only to 37%

Is the firmware finder 2.12.17.3 still working?

I was wanting to downgrade my P40 pro using method 2. But when I was using firmare finder to get the url it always shows an error message as in attached photo.
Is it still working? Any update for downgrade method 2?
Thanks a lot
Same error for me, please send help, heheh cant downgrade my huawei matepad t8
Same issue here...
was looking on other threads and found everyone posting URLs like http://update.dbankcdn.com/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G5633/g1604/v409481/f1/ ... but all links to http://update.dbankcdn.com returning "An error occurred. " message. This is general nginx error, actual error is 404.
Does anyone know where can i get the ELS-LGRP4-OVS 10.1.0.131 firmware ? The lowest i can go in Hisuit is 10.1.0.176 and lzplay does not work on anything above 10.1.0.15x .
Please help guys... It's really frustrating to have such a beast of the device like P40 pro but not able to use it due to absence of a basic google services.
Thank you in advance.
Does this help: https://pro-teammt.ru/en/online-firmware-database/

Well it's official... I contacted the Team MT (firmware finder developers) and they acknowledged - Huawei moved all their firmware from http://update.dbankcdn.com to unknown location. Therefore there is no way to downgrade via Hisute proxy. I've tried to downgrade to 10.1.0.114 via OTG, but to no avail... I get error "incompatibility with current version" and update stops...
Did you have any success with downgrading ?
Same thing happens here too, "incompatibility with current version" sounds like wrong region or diff. hardware though. I could downgrade to 10.1.0.182 via HiSuite but nothing further down. There are some rebranding services or repairers they may have these resources but costs $$

"incompatibility with current version" in my case was due to insufficient disk space on my OTG USB dongle...
8Gb is not enough as it's unpacking entire dload contents to disk. 4.7 GB update package needs another 5.5 GB of space to unzip.
Another issue that can cause it is incorrect device/firmware... Check your build number but not the 10.1.0.xxx - check what is in brackets. For example (C432E8R5P2) and see first 4 characters. In my case it is C432, which means that i have global version of P40 pro. Then go to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/googlefier-install-gms-on-huawei-honor.4180485/#post-83769465 and find firmware with same 4 characters. In my case i downloaded 10.1.0.121(C432E8R5P2) and it worked flawlessly.
After you've downgraded, use googlifier method as described in aforementioned thread to set up google services.

STUMPED on how to downgrade after GMS failure

Like to see if anyone may have a solution on how to downgrade back to EMUI 10 after a successful play store installation that eventually failed, I can not run any apps on the phone and can not upgrade. The p40 pro is an ELS-N04 C992 with EMUI 11.0.0.130.
I tried HiSuite with no luck, just the "no internet connection" and made sure the windows 10 firewall was open, it was. The firmware finder on my p40 is version 9.9.2 and most if not all the packages I check says the firmware was removed from the server!. I also tried to restore the phone from a few backups via USB but the phone does not recognize the files from the backup.
Ultimately what my goal is is to get back to the phone's original version of 10.1.0.183. Love some help on this and if someone has a solution man I would love to hear it!
Firmware finder project is closed I was told

Oh my god your kidding, so I'm stuck with a non-working p40 pro
If that's the case, (and I just read that) can you do an upgrade to a higher version or re-load googlefier to get it to work again?
Need usb adaptor. Download firmware for your device and region and downgrade via recovery options (hold power + volume up). Then use googlefier

download firmware you need off one of the many different firmware websites... might cost you 2usd or thereabouts. E.g. i found mine ELS-N29 10.1.0.114 (C636)... but thats for my specific model and region, so be careful to choose the right one or you could brick your phone
