Install TWRP without USB - General Questions and Answers

I have a Mi 9T Global 6/128GB running stock MIUI 12.0.7 Global with bootloader already unlocked. However the USB port has gone bad and only works for charging.
Is there a way for me to install TWRP without a USB connection?
Everything I've done and observed:
USB debugging enabled
USB tethering option greyed out - no USB connection detected
Default USB action set to MTP does not help
It charges but no prompt for USB mode when connected
Phone does not show up on PC
No new device detected in device manager
No problematic device detected in device manager in any mode
No device detected through ADB in any mode
No device detected through fastboot in fastboot mode
No device detected in miflash tool regardles of phone in system or fastboot
No device detected in miunlock tool regardless of phone in system or fastboot
No detected USB device on which I can attempt a driver update
USB drivers verified updated
Tried on my desktop and laptop, with multiple cables and ports
OTG with another Android device does not work
I was using RR Android Q when I realized this issue. At that time I was using TWRP and even in recovery with everything mounted and MTP enabled, the phone was still not detected on PC. I flashed the latest stable MIUI zip hoping it would be fixed bit no bueno.
I want to get TWRP back to install a custom rom because I refuse to use MIUI.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Because this phone doesnt have card slot my guess is you can't re-install TWRP.

Is your phone rooted? if it isn't then try rooting it with kingroot (I know it's bad, but you don't exaclty have any other option)
After rooting then follow this thread.
Briefly:
After rooting the device, install flashify.
Flash TWRP through flashify.
Do a factory reset to remove kingroot.
Download and flash your desired ROM.
I don't know if this method works and I recommend searching into it first before trying it.
If it actually works, don't forget to backup everything before flashing. Also once you flash there is no going back since Xiaomi devices has rollback protection.

[Q] Disabling MTP Mode and enabling USB Debugging while Phone is Off

Dear Experts,
I Unlocked the Bootloader of My Xperia L using the official Sony way. But after the successful unlocking the Phone is not booting at all. It gets stuck at the Xperia colour theme loading... I gone through various posts and found a solution that I have to Flash my phone using flashtools.
Now I instaled flashtools as well as the required drivers. However when I do the flashing in flash mode, the device disconnects automatically and flashtools says that "make sure you are not in MTP mode". I remember that My phone was in MTP mode when i was unlocking the bootloader and the USB debugging was always on... Now after unlocking bootloader the USB Debugging is showing as off (can be seen in the attached file)
After reading couple more posts about MTP ... I understand that I can't successfully flash unless the phone is out of MTP mode, and USB debugging is on. As my mobile is not booting, I can not go to the settings and tick or untick any of the two.
Please help me with a way to do it. I am attaching a screen print of the flashtools for Ref....
It will be a great relief to me....
Thanks in Advance...

Every Time I connect the phone in flash mode. once it starts flashing process, the phone automatically disconnects and comes on in normal mode.

how to connect in flashmode without using the buttons?im stock in sony logo and i need to turn on usb debugging to use flashtool
1, the adb drivers aren't installed correctly in your pc
2, don't worry about usb debugging
Just connect the phone to the computer in flash mode by pressing vol down and then plug-in the usb cable to your phone.
Flash tool will recognise it automatically if the drivers are installed correctly
3, then reinstall the stock ROM with flash tool
That's it
You said your device is being disconnected while flashing so
When you start flashing from flash tool start the flashing process
(Without connecting the phone to pc)
After the FTF is extracted flash tool will ask to connect the device
Then just connect your device in flash mode

Hello,
Do you know how to install fastboot or flash mode drivers in Windows 10? Also, the flashtool for me is stuck on "please wait until the end of process", how to make it work?
Note: My device gets recognized in ADB when booted up, but does not when in fastboot or flashmode. (Plugging in cable while pressing vol. down)

the drivers will be on the flash tool folder just open the app then tick drivers for Xperia L (thoshan) and general fast boot drivers.
and use the latest flash tool if you can ( Now I am using a Mac so I have a flash tool which was made for apple. but I used to flash my phone using windows and this is the version of the flash tool "flashtool-0.9.18.5" and this worked fine for me ).
if anything else is needed just reply

p5110 Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)

Hello.
So today i've decided to update firmware on my p5110.
It was already rooted and with cyan 10. I've installed TWRP 3.0.0.0 via CWM recovery and booted in TWRP. And then i chose Format data and it completely wiped out all of my files. I knew that, but i was thinking that i'll be able to flash ADB Sideload without a problem.
After that i've tried to boot into ADB Sideload, and nothing happened. My PC is not recognizing p5110. Sometimes it's showing notification "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" in Device Manager, but most of the time it's not connected.
So, basically, now i have a tablet with working recovery, without any files on it and with no OS. I can't flash original firmware via Odin, and i can't flash it through ADB sideload, cause it's not recognized.
I reinstalled Samsung USB Drivers on my pc, installed ADB drivers and Android SDK, my other Samsung devices have no problems with USB connection, and the cable is fine.
Also, I have Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Is there any solution? Please, help.
I have exactly this same issue - running windows 10.
Following the CM installation instructions here:
https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_espressowifi
Windows itself complains that the "device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and can not be recognised" and Zadig itself sees it as
"Unknown USB Device (Device desciptor request failed).
Any thoughts on this?
Cheers

[Completed] MOTO X PLay Root gone wrong!

Alright, I wanted to root my moto x play and and i tried doinng it using this tool. http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...l-windroid-universal-android-toolkit-t3206881
Unlocking the boot loader worked fine and it got unlocked. After when i flashed on twrp, it prompted to me set up the device and so i did turning on usb debug mode. After i flashed on supersu and when i tired going into recovery mode twrp was not there. So i flashed on supersu first and then twrp and finally it worked. After i ran supersu and booted the device it doe not get past the boot loader warning. the device is readable in adb but i cant sideload and push anything onto /sdcard does not exist and when i side load i get error:closed. in device manager the phone shows up as mtp usb device but with a yellow triange. when i run the command adb usb the driver install fails. i really hope this is not a brick and i can recover.
sidenote= the sd card does not work so i can not flash another rom.
please help.
Found fix.
Update: not bricked. Flashed on stock ROM using a otg cable.

Mi4c Bricked: no OS, no USB debugging. Any ideas?

Hi,
my MI4c is bricked (there is no OS installed and usb debugging is not activated): I have TWRP installed, but I can't install a new OS from my PC because I can't use command prompts (usb debugging is not activated). I was thinking about buying a usb pen (type C) to try and install a custom ROM that way, but I'm not sure that will work. Anybody have any other ideas?
Thanks for any help.
Fastboot flash the MIUI and start from there.

Can you copy files over MTP?
Problem solved. I was able to install a miui China rom using miflash. I then requested unlock permission from xiaomi, which was granted, and now I'm running a Superluminal marshmallow rom.

can you get into fastboot? if so, you will probably have to start over. choose the right carrier. if you don't know it or aren't 100% sure, select other. You could also try this one.

The standard things to try when the device is not recognized are:
1. Update drivers
2. Make sure you are using the latest version of platform tools from https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
3. Try different USB ports and cables, preferably USB 2.0. USB 3.0 may not work.
4. Try a different PC.
Are you using "fastboot devices" to detect the device? "adb devices" does not work in fastboot mode.
