Hello everyone,
The question I have is: where can I find the firmware for the Huawei Ascend G6-U251? it seems to be unavailable from the Huawei site and searches online mostly come up empty.
Is it technically possible for another user with the same phone model to extract the firmware from their phone (forgive my ignorance, I am still figuring out how installations and backups work and I am not quite clear yet on it all yet).
Some context about my situation if anyone cares to read through it all and make any suggestion.
Thank you all in advance.
After rooting and messing with my Huawei Ascend G6 I managed to get into a state where the phone is:
- rooted
- I am able to remove annoying bloatware apps
- I am able to move apps to the SD card to avoid the "not enough storage on device to install this app"
That's all nice, but in my enthusiasm I also removed an app called SystemUI.system.apk. I believe this app deals with the status bar, and my phone is now in a state where it starts up and generally works, but there is no status bar and there are no notifications.
I've spent a fair amount of time searching things online to get the status bar working again, but information is scant on this huawei model. There are no custom ROMS that I can install. So I started searching for the Firmware, to restore everything to its original state. The firmware I think is available on the huawei site, look for EMUI Firmware (I'd post the link but as this is my first post xda is preventing from doing so).
Note, one thing that took me a while to figure out is that the Huawei firmware is distributed under the EMUI name (huawei's android brand I think, correct me if I am wrong). I am currently downloading this:
Version: G6-L11/G6-L22/G6-L33,kernel.tar.gz
MD5: 022A448C0D1314F69F4266DE6FEAB4F1
Size: 108.60MB
although it doesn't list the U251 model, I'll give it a shot and see if I can pull just that SystemUI.system.apk file.
Also, for anyone going through the same pain of searching for this firmware or information on updates for the G6 - find the Huawei Ascend G6 group on facebook. It's quite active and seems to have good info on updates for the Ascend G6 (there is another post on xda pointing you to it).
Good luck and thanks.
Hi there,
I'm sorry but I can't find anything related to your question/device.

Good luck
Hi,
I recently purchased a Huawei GX1S and overall found it a good phone except for one thing: the ROM. It uses a Huawei customized ROM which I personally find horrible as it doesn't have any of the regular apps like Play Store or Chrome. It uses Huawei update servers, EMUI, as its system update download server so therefore I can't get any of the Google official updates.
I've Googled up several times to try and find the original Google custom ROM and haven't found anything related to it. The best I could find were 2 tutorial sites that had survey locked download links which I honestly don't trust and wouldn't waste my time on. There seems to be no information at all for this product. Are there any available custom ROMs out there that I can use with this device?
Thanks

Hi,
I found this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/help/csc-change-root-t3090502
Other than that, it seems some roms have a csc changer during install. You can browse the roms here and read the features to find ones with this feature, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/development
If you still need help, you will need to register on the site and you can ask for help here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/help/help-post-questions-instead-making-t3053516
Good luck!

If you aren't finding it with Google searches for:
"Stock firmware for (your model number)"
Or
"Return to stock (your model number)"
Them it probably isn't available to the public.
Try emailing the manufacturer to see if they'll give it to you.

Learn how to properly use a Google search, I typed exactly what you were looking for into the Google search bar, like this:
"TWRP for sm a300fu"
Then ran the search, the following link is the FIRST link in the search results.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa.../how-to-root-twpr-flash-a300fu-a300y-t3494362
Most of the time, if you just type exactly what you're looking for in the Google search bar, it will find what you need. It isn't like the information is hidden under a rock or in a haystack.
***NOTE*** if the search terms I used above had not found any links to what you were looking for, it would not mean that what you are looking for is well hidden, it would mean that what you were looking for probably doesn't exist. In other words, if my search had not found any links, it would have meant that there is not a TWRP for your device.
In the future, do your own searching before coming here and asking. Don't waste our time looking for something that you could have very easily found for yourself if you had just put forth the effort to try for yourself first. All you had to do was type exactly what you typed in the title of your thread into the Google search bar instead and you would have found TWRP for your device.
