Camera question - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

Please get me out of my misery. I’m probably doing something wrong but whenever I take a photo or video facing down towards the floor or ceiling, holding the phone landscape, viewing the result shows portrait and I have to edit to flip it landscape. Any tips for me?
Best regaeds,

Do you have your phone screen rotation locked to portait?
If not, you have to rotate your phone landscape facing straight on forward until the camera UI rotates.
If you're shooting weird angles, consider locking the auto rotate to landscape because the camera UI will rotate to the accelerometers readings.

Thanks for your reply. Auto rotate is enabled in the dropdown menu (blue) so I assume it's not locked to portrate. All pictures taken landscape facing forward are fine when viewed in gallery holding the phone landscape. It only happens holding the phone landscape downward, like taking photo of something on the ground or table. When such photos are taken, they appear in portrate when viewed holding phone in landscape.

Picture rotate?

For some reason whenever I view a picture in lanscape mode the picture rotates to the right making it upside down. Why, and is there a fix? It doesnt matter if I take the picture in landscape or portrait I get this issue.

[Q] landscape vs portrait

Is it a way to default the display mode to landscape when I lay down the g-tablet? Everytime, when I put it down flat, it change the display mode to portrait.
Also, in some sites (http://www.nytimes.com/), the contrast of the screen is sooooo bad (maybe, just my eyes) in the portrait mode, but it looks great in landscape. Is it a hardware defect or something software can fix?
I use a toggle widget from the market to turn off/on the auto-rotate setting

[Q] Video player - auto-rotate

Hi all.
I've tried a few alternative video players (so i can watch avi's etc), but all seem to have the same flaw. They won't auto-rotate the video. This is hugely inconvenient when watching something when the eeePad is in a stand case.
Anybody found a video player that will flip the picture round?

I'm not aware of anything that'll do this, I guess most video players are designed for landscape viewing. Is your stand case in portrait orientation?
I'm watching in landscape mode, though it'll only work if the tablet is the right way up, if you know what I mean. (power button at the top left). If I want the tablet at a different angle in the case stand, it turns the tablet upside down (power button bottom right), still landscape though. But the downloaded apps won't rotate the picture so it's useless.
I'm sure Rock Player or MoboPlayer used to flip the image. Maybe there's been an update? I've tried PR, MP, vPlayer and a couple of others, they all end up upside down.
VERY GRRR!!!

Oh, I see. Sounds like an odd design of the case to me - turning the TF upside down to watch 'at a different angle' ? Are you sure the TF itself isn't inside the case the wrong way round? I'm guessing your case has a kickstand of sorts for viewing at whatever angle you wish, is that right?

Moboplayer is able to autorotate the video. You need to go into Settings and put a check in Screen Rotation before it will auto rotate.
I think quite a few of the stand cases have this design. The "correct" way up is a high angle, maybe 70°. Then "upside-down" gives a low angle, like 20°...

upgraded to JB, lost screen rotation

really strange. this is not "slow" it's just not happening.
home screen
web browser
pulse
other apps
funny thing was i actually like this for most of my use. but then i started to notice it. the strange thing is sometimes i'll pick it up in portrait mode and unlock and i will get the vertical lock screen.
anyone notice this? am i missing a setting somewhere?
It happened to me the same thing, set with a reboot.
Do you have Auto rotate enabled or disabled? (The block with two arrows around it in the quick settings.)
With auto rotate off it doesn't rotate when unlocked. Picking it up (and unlocking) in portrait mode rotates the screen to portrait mode. The lock screen does rotate.

Portrait mode

What exactly is the new portrait mode camera option and what is it used for? I thought, simply, that holding camera vertically is portrait mode and horizontally is landscape mode [emoji848]

The feature is not referring to the actual orientation that the picture will be taken in. You are correct, how you hold the phone will determine that via the gyro sensor. The portrait mode on our phones is a mode that will simulate high camera aperture and depth of field when taking photos of objects. It will attempt to keep the subject in focus and blur the background. See the link below for some example pictures.
