Hi guys,
I recently bought a VW van and it came fitted with a cheap head unit. After some research I found the the info below. I'm wondering if its possible to flash the firmware to upgrade the Android OS from Android 8.1 to 9, or flash a custom rom? I'm interested if anyone has come across the same model and had any success in doing this. Thanks!
Brand:Autofather
Manufacturer Part Number:AF-322115SM
MPN:DP-322111SM
Is it an MTCD/E

hi guys
I'm new here a novice still learning all that android systems can offer...
i have recently purchased the xtrons TD718A which works perfectly currently running the android 2.3.5 software.
I'm wondering if i can update it to the ICS 4.0?
xtrons have released there new version of the stereo i have TD728A which is running the 4.0 software. the unit is exact same spec as my unit.
i have gone as far as getting hold of the original software my unit comes with as well as the new software for the TD728A but I'm having trouble installing.
it comes up with the following error when i try to install...
error in tmp sideload package.zip == crane_C12R1-ota-20131104
(status7)
from my understanding xtrons have locked the unit causing this issue but like i said I'm a novice so there may be a way around it.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Installing someone else's roms is not advisable until you are 100% sure that all the partitions specs match

hi the spec is 100% match and the roms are generic that xtrons release only the version of android software changes when a new version of stereo is released so they can charge more for the same stereo with new software.

Did you already tried it?
If a Joying Rom would work, I don't know. If it comes from a MTCD/MTCE Headunit it could work.
I have a KGL Headunit and I am on the latest Dasaita HA Rom from 11.06.2018 and I must say that this Rom is the best for me.
I want to try Xtrons next but I think it will not happen because I am very happy with the HA Rom.

I have a xtrons but i want the video out optioneel like joying. Of Amy other rom with the option to show YouTube on the headrests
Is that working on the rom you use?
Johan
I never tried.
For me was important a good Sound, a good working GPS and a stable dashcam.
I tried the following roms:
Malaysk Android 6
Stock KGL Android 6
Malaysk Oreo
Stock KGL Oreo
Stock HA Oreo and that fits all I need
did you do this in the end?
I have MTCE_LM_2.88.
I have already upgraded MCU to MTCE_HA_2.99 seems to have fixed Reverse Camera problem.
I want to know if it is safe to use the Stock HA OTA rom from 12/18 to replace stock LM 07/18
Is it simply, just put update.zip in?
Afternoon. I've been trying to look at update my software on my headunit but have realised i have no idea what im doing would appreciate any help that anyone can give and point me in the right direction of where to find the correct file to download onto a stick.
Model: px3 (1024x600 W)
Android Version: 7.1.2
MCU version: MTCE_XRC2_V2.84_1
If there is any other info of the unit that is required it can be provided.

Updates get rolled out by OEM/Carrier if they deem it necessary. If you suspect you didn't automatically get it then request latest update from OEM/Carrier.
Sorry i forgot to mention in original post that its an aftermarket unit
Do you know which brand your head unit is?
I don't sorry dude. And the manual book just says android on it.
@mikeroyce Any luck finding the update? I also have the same unit.
I just got a new car and I've been having issues getting the A-Media Auto 800X480 to play music from my phone over bluetooth
I was looking into the issue and It seems I need to update it but a bit out of my depth. Would appreciate link to tutorial and proper update if possible.
A-Media Auto (800X480 S)
MCU Version: MTCD_KBT_V1.96.1
Android Version: 5.1.1
Kernel Version: 3.0.101+
Build Number: rk3188-userdebug 16112016.19.02.08
CPU: ARM Cortex-A9 @1.6GHz
Thanks in Advance!
Your system is an EONON branded unit. I determined this based on the KBT in the MCU version. It's also running a very old Android version 5.1.1. So with that being said, I would suggest searching for updates for EONON branded units based on the rk3188 CPU.
All of this except the brand name was taken from the information you provided and I Google searched for MTCD_KBT for that detail. I'm sure there will be instructions included with the updates if you are successful at finding.
While I realize my suggestion isn't exactly an update, but maybe the information will help you in your search.

Thanks. I've reached out to them to see if they could provide firmware.
@fizgig804 thank you for posting good detail about your system. Good luck on locating updated firmware for your system. Be careful as some updates can be for specific screen resolutions and you will specifically need updates for 800x480 screen resolution.
@PoppaRoxie1986 good job dissecting the info and helping.
Hey all,
I have just bought an audi that comes with the android tablets for the kids in the back seat. They are running android 4.4.2 and no OTA updates are available to it. Due to its old OS, im having problems getting things like bluetooth controllers and even the play store to work correctly (intermittent downloads stuck on pending forever / stalling).
I have seen other tablets of the same variety running android 7 but cannot find the software anywhere on the internet to update to the custom build for these head units.
Can anyone help me figure out how to make this tablet a little more usable in 2023?
Thanks
Request the matching Android 7+ from OEM.
I have emailed the maker of the device, JET OPTO via their website but they havn't responded.
Does anyone know if rooting and custom rom would work on this - retaining its function with hdmi in etc?
I was thinking, another way around it is to use a ?firestick and miracast a phone?
Android 4.4.2 easily get rooted via so-called one-click-tools, i.e.
How to Root Android 4.4 (4.4.2 & 4.4.4) | KingoRoot
Here is how to root android 4.4, including 4.4.2 and 4.4.4, with KingoRoot Android in just one click.

Hi
Same here. I cant find any info about update. There are some info that ppl have android 7 but no info how to do it. On audiworld someone did it by audi service. Ive made couple phones to service and no1 could tell me how tu update. Ive read somewher that rooting RSE III is very risky, it can freeze, then y can do nothing. In service the told me that they can change my old RSE to newer (silver one) cost is big. I dony want to risk that in couple years problem with update will be thisome. I think best way is to buy normal tablets andro or ios.
I can confirm taht you can update to oem audi android 7, already did it.
Hi, do you have the audi oem look files to update it?
I'm looking for the Android 7 update files for an RSEIII currently running on 4.4.2 as well.
Any news on this? I'm also looking for the update.
