Hi, I have tried 2 different CR Android 11. and video recorder doesn't work properly.
For example, in Gcam I can save videos but there's no sound at all. (I have tried NG, and 3 more versions all the same issue)
In Anx, it records the video, but when I go to gallery the video length says 14 hrs and it doesn't even play the video.
Is there any app that records video properly without bugging so much?, to me video recording is essential on my phone. I'm seriously considering going back to MIUI because I see that all CR have the same issue.

Just happened the same thing to me in Lineage OS 17.1.
I wonder if it is related to some libs missing or being different in some Roms. I couldn't make video recording work right with any camera app.
At the moment I went back to MIUI Global Rom until I find if it is rom related, if it is any issue with some library or what else could I do to choose an appropriate rom. Because it is very tired to begin rom switching only to discover again that video recording doesn't work and I have to reflash and reinstall apps again.
Edit; I forgot to ask if you were able to solve your issue

I have a problem with the camera and video hardware to all custom firmware which are based on cyanogenmod kernel. Camera work but does not move and hardware video on player don*t move. On firmware are based on stock all right work. I've tried everything hboot and recovery but result is the same. Install Miui 2.1.6.08 then install kernel UNITY_V9_2.6.35.14 is the only variant when camera well works but hardware video does not work at all. I hope to help developers!

I've got this very same issue. I was on MIUI 1.12.30 and on Lowveld's Reaper v1.1, both really good ROMs but for some reason, the camera preview window freezes after a couple of seconds. pictures come out ok though. same thing when playing videos either through a browser or even a local video file saved in the sd card, the video playback would freeze after a couple of seconds but the audio is normal.
if viewing video camera captured in program mode it shows normally but the problem remains
If viewing video touch on the screen then video moves and camera too
The same problem
I have the same problem - any help would be really appreciated.
i have got the same problem here.
tried to use Reaper 3.0 but got the camera problem.
miui, endymion and blindice works well with the camera on my DS.
i got hboot 2.00.0002, sense 3.0 and S-ON
the app "pudding camera" works for me as a half solution, since it only takes pictures and no video, but the camera is working with this app.
hope there will be a solution soon
i know its been month since the last post
I am on reaper v3 and my camera and videocamera are working.
UNfortunately i just don't get the same good pics as with sense roms.
It's a real shame, as i take many pictures and at the same time i couldnt live without reaper rom. it's just perfect, apart from the camera thing.
im using lg camera and sometimes get better results, but in low light the noise is really unbearable. tried different settings of iso and stuff but nothing.
i dont know about developing, so sorry is the question is dumb but using a different kernel would help?
HI all, a question, some user (joe21o,vishal24387) have written that the video recording working fine with CM 10.1 Alpha 8 by master dhiru1602, but I and many other users have a lot of problem with video recording (video/audio sync, poor video quality with low bit rate, dropped frames).
How is it possibile? Are there different hardware for the cam?
Please, are there some developer who can explain to me how it is possible this?
Thanks,
Myzzi

recording, camera and audio everything is working smooth and charm for me and it will work for everyone who will follow the OP's instructions.if they say they want a clean and full wipe then you have to do it... they say it for a reason... follow their steps/guidelines to point to point.... and you should have everything working
Hi, thanks for the reply. There is a problem...I followed the guide step by step for two times. The first time I did full wipe from querty ROM, the second time I did a reflash ddlf1 (full reset) always followed the guide in the post. However there are others user with this problem, so please I ask to the user with poor quality, sync audio/video problem in video recording to write a note in this post. Thanks

Hi, haven't you the sync audio/video problem? Haven't you the frame lost problem in video 1280x720? Please check if you have this problem, if you want, i can post a sample video of the issues.
I'm asking to verify if it is something that only happens to some or something that happens to all, but for many these issues is not so important.
Thanks,
Myzzib
sync audio/video work fine for me
and poor video quality with low bit rate, dropped frames yes i faced this problem on A8
Now, I am on like s4 ROM 2.0.2, which is also based on Dhiru's alpha8, I just recorded a video to double confirm, no audio video sync issues or drop in frame rate....
On clean alpha6, 7 and 8 rom (no custom roms, just dhiru's)
I get bad framerate, skipping and audio non synced, on 480p and 720p. And yes, i've already tried coming from clean ddlf2 or other combinations.
Btw, the whole "kpu->ddlf2->cm10.1->alpha8->whatever" thing is just nonsense, this was confirmed by dhiru himself. You just need proper partitions and clean caches. (the rom will wipe partitions by itself while flashing). You're just wasting time wiping and flashing over and over.
Attached screenshot of video camera config (geolocation is disabled and videos are stored on internal sd) and a video recorded @ 480p.

Hi, I viewed your video and I have the same issues that you have. I don't know how is possible that for others users the video recording working well. Is possible different hw? Or different cam firmware? Is there a developer which has the response? Thx

video recording works like charm in probam rom without any dropped frame issue, but when I flash any other rom the problem arises again. I think full wipe will work to solve the issue.

Hi, I have installed Probam v 4.2 with full wipe, format system, format emmc, wipe delvik, fantastic ROM, but the problem with video recording is always here . I have attached a sample video.
Hello
i´m just wondering because i don´t find much to read about it.
After i upgraded to 6.0.1 my main camera can record one video after boot. then the camera app fc.
Front camera and taking pictures working fine.
After a reboot video recording (might) work again once.
If that occures also video playback via mxplayer, album and youtube don´t work.
I already reflashed the latest firmware, used stock rom´s and different kernels. Nothing solves my problem.
Luckily i found an old 6.0 backup so i restored that to see if it´s maybe smth hardware related.
But no. With the "old" 6.0 backup camera working good again.
So anyone has similar issues or ideas?
Thank you
PanAroma
Dear community,
Everything seems to work except video recording at 60 fps (at any resolution). I can select it but when i press the record button i only get a toast message: ''Could not start media recorder. Can't start video recording'' (without the quotes).
Also in Whatsapp I'm able to send and receive pictures. Same in Snapchat. Everything works fine(at 30fps but that's normal in the apps how it should). Its just the main camera(snap camera) that can't film in 60fps. However, 30 fps works good on any resolution (even 4k). Taking and reviewing pictures also works flawlessly. In the past i used a Candy6 rom based on 6.0.1 that had the same camera app (the default snap camera). 60 fps worked flawlessly there.
I did a clean flash. Wiped everything, flashed the rom and Gapps and rebooted.
I'm currently on the newest build of Resurrection Remix 7.1.2
is there some .zip i deed to flash in recovery to enable 60fps recording or something else maybe? Perhaps another kernel?
That's the only thing i miss because the rest of the rom is perfect, performs very well and even supports Substratum.
I attached a logcat and a screenshot. Only thing i did is update magisk and restores some (not camera related) apps from titanium backup but that should not matter.
I hope someone can help because i really miss the feature.
Hi, I have a Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G (codename: VEUX, verified using adb) Indonesia version (model: 2201116SG). Right now I'm using Evolution X ver 7.3 (build Nov 20, 2022). Before, I'm using stock MIUI Global 13.0.2.0 (RKCIDXM). I posted this thread to present my findings about this phone, and hopefully find a fix.
I was trying to find a suitable GCam port for this phone, but ONLY Arnova8G2's ver 8.4.300 GCam port that works in this phone. All other ports will crash or show black screen when using Video recording mode. However, photo mode works just fine in all GCam ports. I can even add auxiliary cameras and enable the tele/macro and ultrawide lens. The problem reappears, however, when I enable aux cam in Arnova8G2's GCam port. The app keeps crashing when I switch to video mode, and I need to clear app data and cache to get it working again.
I've also installed Open Camera by Mark Harman, and tried to record 1920x1080 video, but it says "Failed to record video". The highest resolution I can get is 1600x900. Lowering the FPS didn't help, It says "Sorry, frame rate not supported on your device".
Playing 1920x1080 videos (whether 30 or 60fps) worked just fine using Google Photos. If the resolution is higher than that, then Google Photos and any media player will refuse to play it. The highest video resolution I can play is 1080x2040, even a 1080x2400 video (same resolution as the display) results in the same error.
I haven't tried recording and playing 1080p videos back in stock MIUI, but judging from the Live Wallpaper Bug Thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/dynamic-wallpaper-mi-video-bugs.4439695/), the problem might persist in stock ROM.
I know that the Snapdragon 695 SoC has a hardware limitation of recording video up to [email protected] But, this thing was like "GIVE ME A VIDEO THAT IS EXACTLY 1080x2040, OR ELSE. AND DON'T EVEN THINK TO RECORD AT 1080p!!". I still have my old Redmi S2 (codename: YSL), and just for reference, I tried installing one of the GCam port file that I've used in this phone. Guess what, the Arnova8G2 version didn't work, but other GCam port works perfectly. I installed BSG 8.1 GV2b in Redmi S2, and managed to record [email protected], although it crashed in like 3 seconds. Playing a 1920x1080 30fps video (a much higher resolution than the 720p display that the Redmi S2 has) using Google Photos also works, although as expected, the video is very choppy.
So, In conclusion, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is picky about what video to play and record. This might be a hardware problem, because it persist even in different ROMs. If this really is a hardware problem, then It's kinda suck, 'cause I need to record important video occasionally. Oh well, I'll need to use other tricks just for recording video then. I wanna hear what you guys thought about this though.
We been struggling with this since this phone came out, but i been playing videos up to 4k on mx player without a problem
still no solution to record 4k tho
Is a hardware limitation from the snapdragon processor. There is no way of make 4K recording in this device.
4K playback is fine.
Aw bummer. Welp, on the bright side, I've finally managed to find a perfect GCam, It's BSG's GCam MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1zfix_MGC. Everything works, including video recording up to [email protected], front camera works, slow motion, etc.
