Z flip - Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Questions & Answers

I'm buying a z flip on the bay. Top screen only works. Would I still be able to use this as a functional phone?

Pic

This is the description:
Screen has black spots and LCD lines
Screen is creased
Back is cracked and separating
Bottom of touch screen doesn't work

Looks like a parts queen to me. If that's what you want it for ok otherwise I wouldn't touch it.

If the bottom part didn't work shouldn't the top part? It's only 120.00. Calls should work and everything and camera and charges.

I have no love for this model.
That's not much screen area to work with and you see how it ended up. I don't see the point unless you repair it or use it for parts.
For that much money you could get a Dell E6400 in good condition.
For $600 you can get a 10+ 512 gb 4G in good condition from B&H Photo with a questions ask return policy.
For a lot less than a 10+ you can get other fully functional older Notes and other models.

Cracked Screen on my Touch Pro

I dropped my touch pro and cracked the screen in a few places. I think it works normally except for the screen, as it receives calls fine...
A new phone isn't in my budget right now. Does anyone know of a good place (hopefully in DC, MD or VA) that will supply or install a replacement touch screen?
(btw, no recent threads came up when I searched.)
Ebay!
Just looked, $30 including postage for a screen & digitiser if you are able to do it yourself.
How hard is it to replace a screen if it has surface damage? Is there anywhere i could find a walkthrough or help?
Shame man, its a tragedy of what happened to your phone...
Luckily its not too bad, and you may just be able to fix it. You can download the service manual for the phone here: http://htcwinmobile.blogspot.com/2009/03/htc-raphaeltouch-pro-service-manual.html
Just a note though, make sure you DO USE tweezers or something to get the speaker wires out of the way before snapping the enclosure back into position... I had to reopen the phone again, after powering it, to rejoin one of the little wires thats like a tenth of a millimeter thick DO NOT IGNORE ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU IN THE MANUAL. Oh, and what works well for the "plastic removal tool" is a cut out piece of plastic ice cream container. AGIAN, do not ignore anything in there... You are voiding the warranty permanently when you do it yourself (which you unfortunately have to).
Anyways, good luck!
I drop my phone also, but the screen didn't actually cracked! but I do have is problems with the screen in other ways! Sometimes I get a black screen when I turn on the phone and sometimes not, but when the screen turns on, it flickers a lot and have lines thru it. What suprises me is that sometimes I get perfect images on the screen (Which makes me think that the screen it's not damaged).
Any suggestion would be apreciated. Thanks!
3 days and still no answer from anyone! I would like someone to throw me ligth on this issue. I'm waiting for this to know exactly what I need to buy, before I start assuming things.
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the LCD connector may have come unseated. You could open up the phone and make sure all connectors are firmly seated if you feel confident in your abilities.

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking on that also and wanted to take my chances opening the phone (oh god!).
BTW, I saw the $30 LCD Screen+Digitizer combo on ebay that Beeble referred to, but I'm not sure if it fits on the fuze (my model). What have come to my mind it's to buy also the front camera of the phone (like a thread on the kaiser) to mod the cell, in case I need to buy the screen+digitizer. I've search all threads about this issue but nobody has done it because it was too expensive for the result; I believe with this price it's worth it right now!
solved
Try this steps:

I used Diamod (!) LCD and Touch Pro digitiser. Works perfect.
Much more cheaper
If your screen works fine sometimes, you most likely don't need to replace it. there's probably just a loose connection somewhere. If you really want to replace it though, there's an ebay seller with a really good deal. $20 for the screen and digitizer already glued into a new front body piece: http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-HTC-FUZE-LC...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item3ef8817bf6 That one's for the fuze, but I think the seller has other models too. I'd definitely get the LCD and digitizer together or else you might end up like I did on my first attempt: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584050

WOW! What a long way to get to the screen. Good luck for everyone who tries to dismount and mount the Raphael.

Thanks for the advise maxh,
I just wanted to let you know that a miracle just happened! my cellphone started to work just fine without even opening the phone! it has more than a week on this situation so I believe that it's exactly what you stated (the LCD conector became unseated or loose). Since it's still working, I have no need to open it! so I'll just wait until it becomes defective again and at that point just open it and tight up the LCD connector!
Anyway, I would love if somebody could make the mod that I was refereing to before (changing the screen of the fuze by the touch pro one) and see if it's possible to attach the front camera on the fuze.
Once again, thanks everybody for your opinions.
I got my new display+ digitizer on Ebay (65$) and replaced it, using the russian link mentioned above ( follow the exact procedure) , it took me 2 hours to do it, and after lot of patience it worked! My problem was the digitizer never worked fine, and after replaced it it worked like never before. If You are not familiar with repairs, it will be a mistake and waste of money to buy a display without digitizer. NOW, I have a small problem, my display has a NEW color, it's like color temp is WARM for this display, and COLD for my old display, AND COLOR level is lower, and the result is display without vivid colors, black like gray. Is there any way to change the DISPLAY color settings?

Backlight bleed galaxy note pro

How much of this is to be expected?
I have a noticeable amount , of course I only noticed it when in a dark room against black backgrounds.. but it makes me wonder if I should demand another unit from amazon.
Sent from my SM-P900 using XDA Free mobile app
Mine has it too. bottom right side and bottom. Only visible when watching full screen video that's letterboxed. Doesn't bother me though.
I notice it gets worse when I flex the tablet by holding it in landscape by the bottom left corner so I kind of wonder if in part it is more predominant on that corner for my tablet because that's the primary way that I hold the tablet. It's not like I can flex it the other way to get rid of the bleeding completely though so I don't know if I can reverse it. If memory serves, out of the box I already had some bleed anyhow. This is my second Note Pro and the first one had bleed on the bottom as well.
I'm sure you'll get responses from some who have no light bleed, some of which actually do but it doesn't bother them and some who really do not have any bleed. It's up to you I guess if it is worth the effort and waiting to try to get a perfect one. For me it simply is not . .
Thanks.. can any one post any pictures of their tablet?
I have attached mine under full brightness, total darkness and black background.. it is slightly exaggerated in some phots as it depends on what angle you see the screen
Sent from my SM-P900 using XDA Free mobile app
I have the same hot spot on the bottom edge to the right of center. On the right bottom corner I have some that is less pronounced.
The only 'sort of' light bleed I have is from the two softkeys when they light up.... Other than that, none whatsoever. (Can't take a photo as I can't imagine they'll shut down the entire train to give me some darkness...)

Note Edge N915S Screen Replacement Question

So I recently broke the screen to my phone and it was working fine but yesterday I started to get lines across the screen and cannot use anymore.
Figured its time to finally buy a replacement screen and I want the one already on the frame. I just can't seem to find one specific to the Korean models the 915 S/K/L.
Instead there are only ones for 915 P/T which is the American models. After looking between the 2 frames many many times I can only spot one difference between the two which is the positioning of the thermal tape right under the one for the CPU. All in all I think it should fit but still hesitant. Does anyone have experience replacing screens on the Edge who has any experience you could share with me.
The first picture is of the frame from my N915S and the second frame is for a listing I have been looking to buy which is for the N915P
Welp, I just tried my luck and ordered the part in and it fit everything without a problem.
For anyone in a similar situation for me it seems like the frames for this phone will fit with all models.

Replaced it myself, it's easier to buy the entire frame assembly + screen rather than just the screen as taking off the screen off the frame is a pain.
Also if you buy frame + screen you have a better chance at finding OEM parts rather than chinese knockoff.
Gotta warn you though the replacement for a screen costs more than some whole phones.
Something like this would be optimal: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Excellent-Bl...241748?hash=item4af43d5b94:g:VxkAAOSwT4lWThZa
Tutorial on how to swap over all the parts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYEwEHRki_8
Mine is the Korean model the 915S and the frame I bought was for 915T and 915P but everything still fit so it shouldn't matter which model frame you buy.

Thanks I'll check it out. And yeah while the pricing is huge, this phone is a one of a kind phone. It still doesn't justify the pricing but I'll let it slide because of how much this phone has helped me out with the multi screen and its note taking features

That's the exact same reason why I wanted to get this fixed. I usually sell off phones before buying a new one but want to keep this around as the first curved phone I ever owned.
Also found out that the headphone jack needs to be replaced with the one that matches your motherboard. Was trying to get audio to work in my car for hours before finding out that the issue was on the phone haha
I have ordered this one
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Fast...90.html?spm=2114.13010208.99999999.274.5R2YVv
for a common dreaded problem of having vertical green lines appearing on LCD from nowhere (although my fault, it got it dropped on flat floor from my shoulder height a couple of times). In my case the green lines are appearing on the edge panel itself only, so the old LCD maybe useful for me to keep just for an emergency replacement as well.
Does this one looks ok, I mean any of the replacement LCD+Frame+Digitizer combo ordered from either ebay or china would rather be coming from only a handful or sources (resellers), and maybe only one or two manufacturers (who might be manufacturing it as OEM as well).
How was your experience with the replacement LCD, does it looks and feels just like original in screen clarity, colours and touch responsiveness.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

I bought mine with a cracked screen and replaced it myself. It was my first time repairing a smartphone and I followed the same instructions as the Youtube video linked above.
I found the process quite easy, luckily most of the components have screws and the video is easy to follow so I was done after 20 minutes. I can't compare with the previous screen by if I do a comparison with other phones we have at home (Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, Nexus 6) the screen looks fantastic!

My T-mobile V20 arrived via UPS

Very little light bleed on the bottom right corner with brightness at 100%. none on second screen. Phone feels great and comparable to the note 7 . curved metal edges feel good in the hand.
UPS just picked up my shipment and it will be here on the 20th. Great to hear, have been on a G5 since I turned in our Note 7's v2. The more good things I hear the more excited I get about the phones getting here.
You might want to change your title since your phone hasn't really arrived.
Just got mine. I have just the slightest bit of light bleed around where the front camera is and across the left part of the second screen. you can only really see it on white backgrounds and the top just looks slightly brighter than below. It's nothing like the v10 where it was like someone was just shining a tiny flashlight from the top left corner of the second screen. Overall, I'm pleased so far.
Thank god for the option to change DPI being built into android now. I couldn't stand the huge DPI on past LG phones.
mine was delivered about an hour ago
Cool, let us know hows the battery!

Yeah, no where near as bad as the V10 was with the second screen. I have the blue light filter set to low all the time since it warms up the screen just slightly. This thing has a great screen considering it's LCD. I am finding this a perfect replacement for the Note 7. Also nice to be holding a phone that I don't feel like i'm going to break just by looking at it. The Note 7 just felt like it was solid, but delicate. This thing just feels solid. I'll still put a minimal case on it just for scratch protection, but otherwise i think this thing could handle a few drops.

I also set the blue light filter to low. The screen was just too cold and harsh without it. I find the body of the phone kinda slick, but a thin case will take care of that and help keep it from getting scuffed when I drop it.

I thought about leaving it on, but I've got some trial tempered glass ones on the way and I didn't like how it felt with that plastic one on there.
You folks from T-mobile with a v20 in hand right now suck big time jking. I ordered a week ago via Att and still have over a week to wait. I am very jealous, especially since I am using an LG phoenix 2 as temp and hate it to death. Anyways, enjoy the V20.

XZ Premium Screen Burn Issue

After about a year and a half of use my XZ Premium has burn marks on the right side of the screen (see link attached). Is this fixable without replacing the screen or does it have to be replaced?
https://imgur.com/a/e1LqXsq
Those are pressure marks. LCD's don't have burn. It could be from the battery or something else. Either way, you would need to replace LCD.
How much does it cost to replace the screen? I might consider buying a new phone instead if it will cost me too much.

Why would you replace it? If the screen works, i would keep using it. Save your cash until it dies completely
I also have one in the left upper corner near the sim card tray. It is common with these lines of Xperia, up until they changed to amoled. Usually it does not bother and it can bee seen only under black or dark colors or bright white. Keep in mind that in some cases it spreads and the screen looks really bad. A replacement ends up to about 100$. It does not worth it. Unless you really love the phone.

So far mine is only visible on bright images. I have been taking care of my phone and it just saddens me that this happened. I wasn't planning on switching anytime soon because recent Sony flagships don't really interest me to do an upgrade
I have this problem for about 4 weeks For me on the left side of the screen appeared It is quite visible I took care of this phone too :/ For now it works. I have Root, so probably nothing from the guarantee from T-Mobile
I see that it's quite a common issue. Does anyone know why this happens?
Hi I had screen burn on second hand one i bought it not that old and rebooted often and then wouldn't charge so getting refund just now. The xz1 and xz2 have dropped to similar price on eBay on some listing which is eat phone to buy any problems with news xz lines they still waterproof I live on a boat so important
