Rooting Failed - Redmi 9A Questions & Answers

I just bought a new Redmi 9a with hopes to root this device. But after much time and effort in attempting to root it. I was just stuck with a boot loop. I did all the necessary requirement in order to root. Unlocked Bootloader (waited 7 days) Downloaded and Installed Updated Drivers..etc
I was successful in almost all steps of the rooting process until the one where im supposed to enter the twrp recovery mode. Is there a solution to this? or is because the twrp file is unofficial? Is there no chance to root this model of phone just yet?

There is actually no reason to install TWRP because nothing seems to be working after a flash, like Magisk.
I rooted mine by flashing boot.img from Tigrouzen, you can find his work in dev section. The only thing you have to do is to play with ADB commands, it should take 5 minutes at most.
Important point : I'm on MIUI 12. I really dont know if it work on the newest update.
To finish, like everytime, sorry for my scoolish English.

There is already a guide to root with TWRP.
Would be great if you find way to root with exploit - without TWRP

That guide causes bootloop on F2FS.This method also works on f2fs file system.
I have a problem with this guide though. When I install Magisk through TWRP, when it flashes boot, it gets stuck, screen goes black for a while, then the phone vibrates and shows blue notification LED.... Really don't know what that's about

Is any of our (unfortunately only) few developers handling P2 working/trying to look for a method of rooting without unlocking bootloader?

Try Kingroot.
Do we need to unlock the bootloader and wait for 14 days to apply this root method ?
Please add it to this guide if so.
Thanks.
EDIT :
Your device needs to be unlocked by OEM.
Your device must have TWRP installed.
I didn't see it when I read the post for the first time. So we do have to wait 14 days before flashing TWRP.

Sorry for reply on a months-old thread but, has anyone firgured out how to root and install custom roms without unlocking Bootloader? I got a Chinese unit and not having a Chinese number is huge roadblock for me. :/
Is it necessary to flash both supersu and magisk for rooting device?? Will the device get rooted if i flash only Supersu?
There is not a lot of Updates released by Lenovo for this model, so if it breaks the OTA, just download from here

Will this method work with the S244 Nougat build?
I have a P2c72 model hardware which I bought from China, but it came loaded with P2a42 firmware which updated itself to Nougat S244 via OTA updates. I'm not sure how to root it and I'm currently in the 14 waiting period to unlock the bootloader!

Pixel Root Questions

Hi guys. Please bear with me - I am a noob to rooting phones and custome recoveries. I haven't had an android device since ~2011, so I need some time to get reacquainted. (Poke fun at me for using iPhones)
Either way, I recently got a 5" Google Pixel and have been looking for a decent guide to root it. I have done research on the topic, but I can't find a straightforward guide or instruction list. I believe I could do it, I just don't want to risk bricking a $700 device.
From my understanding, I need to unlock the boot loader, adb boot some custom recovery image, then install the latest root package. Again, if my jargon is confusing I apologize - I've beeb with the Jailbreaking community for quite a while and haven't tweaked an android device forever.
Could someone link a guide or help me out? Also I have been reading places that you must flash the supersu zip to two different locations for it to work properly.
In the end, I'm hoping to have my Pixel rooted on the most recent firmware and be able to use Adaway and to be able to update with FlashFire (I think that's the name). Also, I'm hoping to keep systemless root to avoid tripping SafetyNet. I would like to be able to easily update.
Thanks in advance guys, sorry for the long post. Hopefully someone more knowledgable can take me under their wing.

That's the procedure. I booted TWRP Alpha 2 for installing SuperSU, so that I didn't need to worry about the popup that sometimes doesn't show up on TWRP RC1. The following seems somewhat verbose to me, but it's the correct procedure and includes videos if you want to watch someone do each step. You don't need to download the TWRP zip, so like noted, you can stop at step 12 on the TWRP instructions and avoid installing TWRP to the phone.

How can I root my MIUI11 Redmi 8A dual without unlocking bootloader?

Hello all xda members,
I am not new in rooting. I was rooting my phone since 2014. When KitKat and lollipop introduced. After I purchased the new redmi 8A dual, it's impossible to root with kingoroot and with others. So, I googled how to root Android 10 miui11. I found there is an app called magisk. So I installed it. Now, I searched more, I found that I have to unlock my bootloader in order to install custom recovery. I really don't wanna unlock my bootloader and custom recovery. I just wanna root for temporarily because I need to convert some application to sys apps.
Now,
I found that people doing another magisk way to root and is called 'patching boot image', . I patched my boot image and download the platform tool. Now, I am completely puzzled because I don't know what to do next! Some are saying I have unlock bootloader and some are rooting without unlocking bootloader.
If by patching boot image root is possible without bootloader then could you please write the steps! I am completely noob in magisk line.
Or,
Is there any way to root MIUI11 without unlocking bootloader? I really don't wanna loss my data.
Thanks for reading!

Your only chance of rooting without unlocking bootloader is to find a universal rooting app or PC program that has an exploit that works on your device. But, I doubt that there is an app or PC program that can root your device, those stopped working on devices with android versions newer than Marshmallow.

Any TWRP recovery available for this phone?

Has anyone ran into the chance of seeing any custom recovery for this phone yet?
Unfortunately, I have no such experience
However, I successfully rooted the phone with Magisk

How did you do that since the current way is to rename the apk and flash in a custom recovery?
1 Unlock bootloader
2 get stock firmware from program, forgot the name is the recovery stuff for moto
3 extract boot l.img
4 install magisk app and click install in the app, choosing patch boot.img
5 open adb adb reboot fastboot fastboot flashing boot boot.img
Viola rooted. I don't see any twrp, roms or anything. Could try a different variant I know moto g stylus twrp is really moto g 8 pro, or something like that. I'd back up with the recovery program tho, it has saved me when messing with flashing roms. GL
I also got root albeit tricky since trying root on the MetroPCS version will make the screen lose all touch functionality.
What good is root on this phone with you can't do anything with Android 10 being Read Only. I've been reading up on that and even in custom recovery it still is Read Only. That's the problem. So yay we got root but can't modify anything in it.

Main reason for me to root would be to bypass Hotspot limit via MagiskHide Props Config, and Screen2Auto AA mod/hack to send all apps to Car Stereo.
Does this touchscreen bug affect the T-Mobile version of the Ace 5G? I haven't ordered one yet.

Question TWRP for Oneplus 9?

Today I tried to install twrp from this link
Install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 9/9 Pro [Android 13]
In this comprehensive tutorial, we will show you the steps to install the TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro devices.

I have the CN version (LE2110 ) with Oxygen 11.2.9.9.LE25AA. I was able to make it unlocked but on the step where I am in the temporary TWRP I can't now browser to any files I copied before. I have no access to the SDCARD, to flash TWRP permanent.
Is there another workaround to get TWRP running on the OP9 and root it after?
thanks
Andy
Great the twrp from op9 pro works perfecet. magisk and root as well. thanks very much for the great work.
Is there a way to disable the unlocked message which appears on the boot?
what happen if I lock it again? does TWRP and root work then?. Bit scary to try as yesterday I was hanging in a boot loop with trying twrp...)
thanks
I unlocked the bootloader with adb fastboot flashing unlock.
what do you mean by MSM?
right now I am on stock rom with all updates, TWRP with Magisk and root.
should I look the bootloader with ad fastboot flashing lock ? Do I still have TWRP and Magisk with root running after I lock the bootloader again?
thanks
Do not ever lock your bootloader with TWRP installed or root! It can and very likely will brick your device! You can only get rid of that message by going back to stock without root and without TWRP and then relock. You have been warned, do not even think about it
Hi,
ok thanks for the information, then I better leave this message,
thanks
Hi,
ok I will leave the message then.
thanks to all for quick support
It is/was "possible" to remove, but the difficulty and risk are not worth it.
