Noticed today when i was taking some pictures with my S21+ that when you snap a photo there is a slight vibration from the phone. i believe its mechanical from the camera itself but wanted to double check.
also noticed a slight pause after taking the photo, kind of like a processing delay. is this all normal?

No, in camera settings, turn off vibration.

Does anyone of your NS make 'tick' sound? For example, when I capture a QR code, it makes very brief 'tick' sound. It's not the camera shutter sound. I can tell the difference...
I think there were few more instances where my NS makes tick sound but I can't recall.
it is app related, the barcodescanner makes an other sound than the camera app

I use Google Goggles. Would it be the same reason?
I think I had an instance with Google Camera app too. I can't recall though.
I honestly thought my camera didn't make such noise until few days back. I had this phone for more than 3 months now..
I've heard my Nexus S 'tick' after using Google Goggles but it doesn't happen all the time. Used to get it with my old SGS, too.
Only happens with Google Goggles though so its probably app related.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
This tick sound is the mechanical focus mechanism of the camera lense. It continuously focuses from macro to infinity to reset in one short moment.
As hardly any application focuses repeatedly, except for let's say barcode readers, you won't hear that ticking in the standard camera app.
In a couple of days since buying my NS (9023) I noticed this click noise coming from the camera and quickly discovered it was from the camera's macro-to-infinity focus switch mechanism. The thing I would like to know if this happens to everybody else or is my NS "special" in some nasty way.
Also, sometimes after taking a macro pic the camera app gets stuck on displaying the picture taken without going back to the live-view camera screen to take the next picture. The only solution out of this is pressing the home button which makes the same clicking noise as above but louder. This makes me think that the macro switch mechanism inside the camera hardware gets stuck somehow.
Should I send it to be repaired? :-|
Hello,
Just got a used Razr HD Maxx, 4.4.2. Everything is fine except that I have a couple of camera issues:
1. Taking pictures: when the camera is focusing, I hear a click noise from the camera. Is this normal?
2. Taking video in low light: the camera does not focus. Before I click the record button, the camera finds focus just fine. As soon as I click the video record button, the focus immediately changes and becomes blurry. I cannot change focus once recording starts.
Has anyone experienced these issues? Thanks!
Any and every video camera app I tried has some sort of built in image stabilization and this makes any footage useless for me. Corner warping and distortion is very visible a lot of times.
Yes this same problem also with me, AS the time we need the images the distortion occurs and image get vanished.
Change your shot mode to auto, but I believe your pictures will no longer be as HD as they could be but should be fine just fine.
do you guys find the camera abit slow on focusing and when we press shoot the shutter will also slow? im not able to take my 1 YO son's photo without blurry face. :crying:
Occasionally in dodgy lighting (especially indoors). I get the sharpening image message.
Hi, i have been watching a lot of videos in reviews and youtube and i have noticed a common problem in video recording, like some frame dropping. You can check in this video with the train movement.

(i can't share the full link, please put the http an 3w first)
Is any way to fix it?
Thanks!
Hi,
yes it is.. Disabling EIS helps a lot, but mostly it works without often frame drops using FilmicPro or Open Camera ( this is most stable for video recording).
About fix for a stock camera, I would not put many hopes for it, even Mi 10 Pro with SD 865 does video with stutters. I believe this most of software problem.
Similar to what Dom said. I don't think it's frame drop, it looks like the image EIS stabilisation is getting confused with the scene moving at different speeds. It's probably trying to track train motion and floor motion.
Try again with image stabilisaion disabled. If you need steady footage maybe see if your video editor handles it better.
Also in the low light scenes the EIS gives footage a weird ghosting effect (even the GoPro7 does it).
I wish there was an auto disable EIS in low light option
Shouldnt the OIS help? So its not completely unstabillized? That should work for video as well and maybe evene better?

OIS is always on and cannot be turned off as it's a physical part of the camera sensor. However the OIS level of stabilisation is subtle compared to EIS
