If I am to get a Galaxy S Phone - or any new phone for that matter - they require Micro USB. I have a bunch of Mini USB accessories. But for some reason, I am having trouble finding Micro USB products. Where can I find some good ones?
Questions include:
Mainly, where should I look to find a good micro USB to USB, for my car?
I occasionally plug my Touch Pro into my TV with my soon to be useless Mini USB to AV Out. What do I do now? I have seen some Headphone To AV Out, do they work?
Micro USB to HDMI? Is that supported across most phones?
What kind of charger does the phone (or most phones) come with? Is it one of those AC Adapters, with the USB plug plugging into the AC Adapter? But the USB Cord is like, one foot? Will I need a regular cable too?
Questions, questions!! So many!!
Hello All,
I'm a new owner of a Galaxy S6 Edge, coming from a S4.
I had a Samsung multimedia dock for my S4, that had 3 USB ports, a HDMI Out port and a 3.5mm audio Out port. I purchased a wireless keyboard / track pad and plugged it into one of the USB ports on the dock to make typing texts & navigating the phone easier while at my desk.
Unfortunately, the male micro-USB plug on the Samsung multimedia dock does not fit the micro-USB port on my S6, rendering my wireless USB keyboard useless.
I've looked all over the internet and can't seem to find a similar docking station for the S6. Does anyone know of a docking station that has USB ports that will work with my USB wireless dongle & keyboard?
Much appreciated!
Hi,
Thanks for your report. It seems strange to me that the S6 micro USB port is different, should be the same old 11 pin that the Samsung used. Stupid question, but did you try inserting it the other way around, with the phone back facing you?
For your exact problem, with the keyboard, I assume the old USB On The Go adapter will work on S6, same as it does on S4, S3, Note2, etc. It's this one: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ET-R205UBEGSTA .
There's also a HDMI adapter, http://www.samsung.com/de/consumer/mobile-devices/accessories/connectivity/EE-HN910FWEGWW. Maybe those 2 can be combined, instead of using the dock.

Thanks for the reply!
Way ahead of ya on making sure the micro-USB plug on the docking station is facing the right direction. I tried docking it backwards and the plug n' port absolutely do not fit that way. It's facing the right direction, just that the port on the S6 is not able to accept the plug on the docking station....despite both being Micro-USB. I did notice, however, that the plug on the docking station had two small grooves indented in it, that looked different than any other standard micro-USB cable plug. It could be that those indentions made the device proprietary to the Samsung range of phones that released during the S3 / S4 years (including the Note 2 & 3). If you look at the compatibility of that docking station on Samsung's website, you'll notice that only the S3, S4, Note 2 & Note 3 come up.
I suppose the USB dongle you linked could work, but reading the device laying down flat, while trying to type on the keyboard might be problematic. You'd think that someone would make a universal micro-USB docking station with USB ports...but I haven't been able to find it.
I'm pretty sure the S6 no longer supports MHL which probably explains why the dock doesn't work either.
You can still go USB OTG, which should let you use your keyboard and trackpad mouse devices.

Interesting.....so are you saying that the micro-USB male plug on the Samsung docking station also had MHL connectivity integrated in it, which is why it's form factor is slightly different than a standard micro-USB plug?
The only times I've ever seen a MHL port on mobile devices was as a separate, similar looking, but different port than the micro-USB port.
I supposed all the wireless mirroring tech out now makes including hardware mirroring functionality not needed.

That's correct, it has to since it offers an HDMI out on the dock.

You're also probably right in your assumption that MHL isn't really needed anymore due to the widespread wireless screen mirroring technologies.
So I got the S7, and I also own a premium pair of headphones and a portable amp/DAC as well. My headphones are the AKG K553 Pro, and my amp/DAC is the Oppo HA-2. When I connect an OTG micro USB to micro USB (both sides male) cable to the S7 and my HA-2, ALL it does is start charging my HA-2, which it's not even supposed to do. No music gets sent to it.
The ONLY way to get it to work is to use a regular USB to micro USB cable........ put the included S7 USB to Micro USB adapter (white) on the USB side and plug ONLY that side into the phone. It does send music via USB this way, but it still is charging the HA-2 when it's not supposed to, and also the adapter included with the S7 sucks because it doesn't lock in well so comes out very easily.
There has to be a setting or something I can do to change it so the 1st cable I used (micro to micro) actually works but doesn't charge the HA-2. If anyone knows, let me know. Or else I won't be keeping this phone for very long it seems.
Thanks!
I need to get an analog video source (RCA cable) to display on my tablet, but only at certain times. Samsung states that the Tab A 10.1" supports simultaneous charging and OTG when using an OTG cable. So I plan to get an OTG cable that will split to a USB and female micro USB connector (see link). Then I want to buy a RCA to USB dongle, but I'm not sure if all of them will work. I've heard that only the UTV700 chipset one works.....but I don't know why? Any help here is appreciated. I found this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B5XY8EE/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A40NHWEFTZZNI
It has a switch to switch between the micro USB female connector and the USB connectors. I think by using this, I can control when the video source gets through to the tablet. I only need it at certain times. Thanks guys!
Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab s5e with official rom and latest updates.
This tablet doesn't have a headphones jack, only a single USB type c connector.
It comes with an adapter to connect the headphones to the USB port.
However, I am trying to connect my headphones as well as a disk on key at the same time. Each work separatly just fine.
I bought a couple of types c splitters but can still connect only one device at a time. It seems like these suppliers support a single device and a charger.
Can any one help?
Best scenario is if I can find a way to connect 2 sets of headphones (3.5mm or type c are both fine) , disk on key and charger at the same time (simultaneous charging is nice to have). I don't want to use wireless headphones. I would like this for traveling so the smaller the solution the better!
I see there are a lot of type c hubs with various connectors but I don't know if they can do everything I want and if they will work with my tablet.
Any help would be truly appreciated!
Thanks!
