Is there a way to have Always-On-Display actually always on?? - Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Questions & Answers

I ditched my last phone because no AOD and here I'm having basically the same problem since Mi 10 Pro turns off AOD whenever it lies in dark place, which kinda defies the point of having AOD. -.-
I'm thinking with some background app if not by normal way (some settings).
Or is there a ROM where this 100% works?

Sound profile changing by its own and other weird things...

Hi folks!
My OPO is with OxygenOS and I experience 2 strange things since I am in 5.0 (was the same when OTA brings me CM12):
My sound profile change randomly: when I put the OPO in "None" mode before going to bed, most of the time when I wake up it is in "Priority" mode or even in "Always" mode... It also happens sometimes in the day... which can be quite annoying when you think your phone is silent and begin to ring loudly at work for instance... or when you want to sleep and then a notification arrives at 2.00 am...
The other thing is linked to the app "Night Clock" that I use. I activate the app before going to bed with a nice soft red display of the time and at random hours, every night, the app is closed and I have in front of me a bright screen making the bedroom looks like night club... (at least from a luminosity point of view... especially for my wife... )
It is as if something was "playing" with my phone settings/notifications...
So, is it a known issue (haven't seen any thread on that, so i dont think so...) and do you have some sort of brilliant ideas to get back those 2 pesky points to normal?
Thanks a lot in advance!

[Request] Module/ switch to keep Always on display dimm or bright all time

For example if i'm at home or outdoor the AOD keeps low brightness all the time. I think the bright mode is too bright. At least for me. I have seen some other users asking for this too.
Even now, when i'm siting and writing this post the AOD randomly turns on brightness, after a minute turns off, and back on again There's no light change in my room. I have updated to the latest version. Some time ago I saw this feature in rom, but can't remember witch one. Back then developer said it's kernel related feature.
Just throwing some ideas but would be cool if there were an option to only turn on AOD when there is a notification.

After upgrade to Android 8.0 AOD on my S7 is to dark

After upgrading my Samsung Galaxy S7 from Android 7 to 8.0 Always On Display is very dark. It's annoying especialy outside during sunny days, the clock is invisible then. Before upgrading it was automaticaly adjusting to the light, in dark room the clock was dark, in the very in illuminated surroundings was very bright. Now auto-brightness doesn't work. Any solution for this problem?
If not is there any chance to roll back to Android 7? I didn't find even one advntage in Android 8 and the problem with AOD is very BIG disadvantage for me.

I had this same problem. I just turned on the automatic brightness.
BTW in my case oreo just prefected my experience with android more smooth interface, longest battery life so far etc.
I have automatic brightness turned on but it doesn't work in AOD mode.
I think the AOD pictures are too dark for sure. i was trying to show someone my siamese cat one i bought outside in the sun and i couldn't see anything. not even the time.
I don't use any picture in AOD mode. I was always using it as a watch to check the time. Now I can't, in sunny days, because the clock is invisible

Does it have a notification LED?

I rarely use my phone and don't obsessively check it. If something needs my attention it flashes the coloured led on an every 1-second cycle. I have colours set up for email, sms and whatsapp.
I can see it at a glance on my desk/couch without needing to pick up the phone, I also know a notification is waiting for me if I was far away from the phone to hear the notification sound or vibration. I'm also deaf so I don't take voice calls, so anything that is an emergency will be in text form and has to grab my attention.
This is why I had to skip buying the OnePlus 6T - it has no LED. Other alternatives such as the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 has only 1 colour on its LED. I don't know what other alternatives there are. I've always stuck with phones that are easily unlockable and has good ROM support (Nexus 4 to OPO to OP3 currently), so I can finetune the LED colours and timing frequency on a per app basis.
p.s. I'm aware there are third-party tools such as Always on Amoled on Google Play. But I have no idea if it's any good, development may stop at any time, and they're usually battery drainers.
I'm totally same boat with you and we are sinking.
WHY in Earth notification led is removed now days?
It was probably best thing Android had starting day 1. when I started use it (2008)
I'm also using OnePlus 5T still because led removed after this model....
It doesn't have the LED, but it does light up the left side of the screen instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B9cJeF0x8Q
If this can be properly customized (make this the only trace of ambient display, set colors for individual apps and ideally shift the light strip to the top side instead of the left side to use a litte bit less battery) I'd be fine with that
Wow! This sounds awesome if can customize!
Normal 7 don't have nothing I think?

The guy presenting this review says that both the pro and non-pro have the feature https://youtu.be/_e5Imvxw8kk?t=204
However, I'd like to see a video of it working on the non-pro variant just to be sure it really does have the feature. Would also like to know whether it can be set to keep lighting intermittently until the notification is manually dismissed, just like a LED notification light works.

What is everyone doing for notifications?

Hey all,
I just picked up a 7 Pro and it's my first phone without a notification light. What are you all doing to make sure you don't miss important notifications?
On my OnePlus 5 I used to use Light Manager to show me a static (not blinking) light of a different color depending on the notification, so I could glance at my phone and know what notifications were waiting for me. (Especially helpful was a unique color for when my wife texted me. Little quality-of-life stuff like this goes a long way, ya know?)
Now that I don't have a notification light I've tried:
- Ambient Display: This seems too easy to miss a notification after it has passed. Always picking up or tapping on the phone to see notifications is a hassle.
- Always On AMOLED: I've tried two apps by the same name and they both drain my battery horribly, even if I have it set to show only a black screen unless a notification comes in.
- NotifyBuddy: This is close, but the blinking light drives me nuts and I've heard the battery drain is bad here too.
Has anyone found something that works for them and doesn't destroy battery life?
I just pickup my phone and it shows notifications. At first i missed the LED light but not anymore.
I am using this currently and it works really well. What it does is make the built in Horizon light continue to repeat itself according to your chosen settings...much like it should by default but OnePlus dropped the ball!

What is the sense of having that "horizon light" if it doesn't actually DO anything? I don't get it... why include it....
