GM1917 stuck in bootloop after MSM tool - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

The short story is that I used the MSM Tool to try reset my OP7 Pro completely back to stock. I have the US/Global variant (GM1917). The image I used is the guacamole_21_P.31_201105 (found on this thread under GM21AA tools -> Android 10 -> OOS 10.3.7: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...0-gm21ba-collection-of-unbrick-tools.3956595/)
The MSM tool completed its work with no errors and the phone rebooted after it completed. On the first reboot it spun on the red dot and white circles screen for a few seconds before rebooting itself again. On the second reboot it stayed on that spinning dot screen for 15+ minutes, after which time I powered the phone off. I can get into fastboot/recovery. My understanding was using the MSM tool should basically completely reset back to the factory image, am I doing something wrong? Is there anything else I can do at this point or is the phone just hosed?
Longer history
The phone was originally unrooted, stock, locked bootloader, etc. No changes done by me. The phone started having a few random reboots yesterday (and some games I were playing started throwing random security violations or just outright closing themselves). This morning the phone itself started rebooting every minute or two. This had also happened back in October and only after about 4 or 5 factory resets did it finally stabilize itself. Instead of going the same route again I did some search around searching around. I decided I'd try to replace the kernel with arter97's (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/r64-arter97-kernel-for-oneplus-7-series.3952578/) since it seemed like the OS itself was randomly crapping out. I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP (twrp-3.5.0_9-0-guacamole.img) and Magisk (latest version) first in the same recovery session with no reboots in between. I rebooted and was having a bootloop issue at that point, but figured I'd proceed with the kernel update as well to see if that resolved it. When that also didn't help I decided I'd try to go the MSM route.

[Q] Having some major issues with my phone, help?

- A few days ago my phone freezes while I am using it, and its stuck on the google screen. at this point, it's on 5.0.1 unrooted, unlocked bootloader.
- I try going into recovery and wiping cache and doing factory reset. I keep getting errors but eventually the wipes work. Still doesn't boot though. So I do this a few times. I got it to boot twice but both times it froze within 5 mins and back to the same thing.
- I fastboot 5.0.1 factory image, goes through. but still no dice - stuck on google boot screen.
- I research and find out about the infamous power button problem. it doesn't seem like thats the issue with mine because the buttons seem to work fine. whatever, i take it to a local repair shop (phone is out of warranty) and the next day they inform me that there is no physical issue and that their software reset worked. they used the LG factory firmware way of resetting the device.
- Got the device back, used it for a while. It was fine for the time being but it was on 4.4.3 and I got the 4.4.4 update. I go and unlock bootloader, flash 5.0.1 factory image and push TWRP+root.
- Doesn't boot again, stuck on google logo
- I tried a whole bunch of stuff and nothing worked. I ended up with flashing 4.4.3 factory image in fastboot and relocking the bootloader so I could take it back to the shop the next day. At this point the phone wasn't even turning on.
- The next day (today), I tried turning it on, nothing. I put it in the charger for a while, then turned it on.... and it booted! used it for a while, it's fine.
- Did 4.4.4 system update, it's fine.
- Unlocked bootloader, it's fine.
- Tried to flash 5.0.1 factory image and again same issue - stuck on google screen.
- Been dicking around the last few hours trying to fix it ended with flashing 4.4.3 again but same issue, I then put the phone into download mode and connect to the computer but I got a green screen something about DemiGod Watchdog HW reset. I did the reset.
- Phone booted up again! Did the 4.4.4 system update and then it started freezing and rebooting withing few seconds of use. Now it's back to being stuck on google screen.
- I am obvious gonna bring it back to the shop now but any idea as to what is happening here?

1.I presume the "DemiGod Watchdog HW reset" green screen came up after you gave the phone for HW servicing? If so then they could have knocked around the parts a bit to cause a hardware issue(not sure what causes it)
2.Check the MD5 of the 5.0.1 factory image.
3.Instead of factory image use the OTA zip file and flash in stock recovery.
So I used the LG tool myself to flash the firmware (4.4.3 is the only one available) and it worked fine. Updated to 4.4.4. Fine.
I then adb sideload the 4.4.4 - 5.0.1, and stuck on google logo again .................im pulling my hair out this is so weird.

1) yes this was after.
2)i tried adb sideload.. ill try that good idea.
can't flash ota.zip in recovery. only adb and that didn't work.
think i'm just gonna hang on to 4.4.4 then for now. tried everything.
Just an update. I was running 4.4.4 just fine but the phone froze and went back to the Google screen again.
bump
Might as well rma

[Q] Weird softbrick - phone reboots constantly after factory reset

Ok, so I think I may have finally killed one of my S2 Skyrockets.
I attempted to use the factory reset function from within Candy 5.1.1. However, on reboot the phone entered TWRP, or rather tried. Instead of booting into the recovery, it just kept restarting over and over again. I couldn't get it to boot into the OS or TWRP.
Thinking I had just soft-bricked it, I went into ODIN mode and uploaded a full restore image. Now I don't get stuck in a TWRP bootloop, I am stuck in a different bootloot. I see "Rethink Possible" go black, wait a few seconds, then it restarts again. I have pulled the battery out several times, attempted to boot into recovery (where I get the original TWRP bootloop) etc.
Is there any way to recover this device, or am I hosed?
[UPDATE]
Ok, this was one of the scarier things I've run into, but I recovered the phone. I used the sammobile version of the UCMC1 image (which blows away everything). This didn't reboot, it just hung. However, I was able to get into 3e (the stock recovery) and do a factory reset. THAT got me past the block. I'm now in the process of putting TWRP back on along with Candy.
Apparently you REALLY don't want to screw with the factory reset function...

[2016]Random Reboots on my ONE. Please help.

Later edit5: Tried to restore my nandroid backup and TWRP froze. Had to hard reboot the phone...
Later edit4: It started working. It f***** started working. Out of nowere. Last night, the last thing i tried was this: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/fix-for-sudden-death-and-boot-loop.146107/
I rebooted the phone and it didn't work. I gave up.
This morning I turned it back on and ... surprise, surprise... it started working (optimizing apps and actually booting into cos12.1).
My happiness didn't last because as soon as the phone started updating some apps, it crashed, and entered a boot loop again. Good thing i managed to copy one of my previous backups.
Can someone explain this behavior?
Later edit3: my phone is still stuck in a bootloop. Neither roms are working.
Things I've tried:
- flash new roms
- erase/ flash persist
- flash color os
Nothing works!
Later edit2: while on cm13, i plugged it in to recharge. While connected to wall plug it did nothing(working fine, as it should be). As soon as i unplugged it started rebooting over and over again... a boot loop. This phone is starting to look like one of the biggest mistakes i ever made. I regret purchasing it.
Later edit: now it just turned off, and pressing the power button won't turn it back on. Had to press it for about 10 - 15 seconds. ANNOYING!
OP: I've been experiencing random reboots on my oneplus ONE since I've had it.
When i first got the phone, i was so excited about it and started flashing custom roms, just for fun and to see which one suites me. I messed up the phone (my camera wouldn't work anymore. All the roms gave me the same message"Camera has stopped working" ) and sent it back to warranty, here in my country, at the shop from which i've bought it. After two weeks they sent it back to me with the note "restored to factory settings". I've checked the "About" section and it was running cos12.1, 1 jan 2016 security patch, kernel 3.4.67.
So I've decided to stick with this rom because I didn't want to mess it up again. But, out of nowhere it rebooted. First i thought that it was an app that needed the phone to reboot. I didn't mind it. I've left my phone over the night and in the morning it was saying "enter pin" as it has rebooted.
Long story short, ever since it reboots at least 1 time a day, and it is getting really frustrating! Sometimes when i'm in an app, sometimes when it just lays around.
Reasons it rebooted:
- no reason, just siting and it rebooted
- opened waze app
- browsing chrome
- tried to connect to a saved wireless network, it rebooted and afterwards the network was not recognized anymore and had to retype the password
- no reason!!! just sitting!!
- fresh install of cos 12.1, i queued about 20 apps to install... it rebooted and continued installing after reboot.
- sometimes i heavily use it and it runs perfectly, but when i stop using the phone and lay it down it reboots. (this only happend one time)
Things I've tried:
- factory reset
- clear cache and dalvik cache
- power cicle the phone
- new rom
None of these worked.
Today I installed sultans CM13, with his 3.4.0 - sultan - caf kernel, hoping that my problems would disappear. (I installed TWRP 2.8.7.0.5, flashed the rom, cleared the cache, flashed the gapps, cleared the cache and reboot.)
It ran flawlessly. I've installed all my apps, played a little with it, configured it as I pleased and I've left it the table for about 15 minutes. When i picked it up, it rebooted(AGAIN!) out of nowhere.
What could it be? As I read through the forums i found out that a log with the exact problem is impossible to get because it gets deleted.
Could it be the wireless network? Could it be the sim card I am using or the phone modem? Could it be because of the launcher?
(for now, i've disabled my sim pin so when my phone reboots i don't miss phone calls if i don't notice it has rebooted)
Please help, as this problem is getting more and more frustrating...
Reboot log
Quickly after a reboot i reconnected the phone, opened cmd and typed adb logcat.
This is the log. 22:17 is the time when the phone rebooted so i extracted only that fragment of the log.
I am going to flash the stock cm13 nightly with the "stock" version of gapps. (until now i always flashed "nano").

Booting issue

Hi, I bought a used Nexus 5 and it has been causing quite some problem when booting. I flashed Cyanogenmod in it and it works fine for a few days. After that it keeps having the same problems in the following order:
- It would restart on its own, sometimes some random app will fail functioning (it's never the same app).
- Turns off on itself without restarting. Can still be turned on normally.
- From there it gets worse and start bootlooping. On CM it loops around the part where it initialises the apps. On stock its the colourful stuff that happens right after the Google logo.
- Finally it just gets stuck in boot. On CM it's stuck where it initialises apps while for stock it turns off right after the Google logo appears.
I have tried the following:
- The persist partition fix described at https://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/guide-to-fix-persist-partition-t2821576
- Cleaning the power button and made sure it wasn't stuck.
- Re-flashing CM, did a checksum to make sure the files are okay
- Went back to stock, did a checksum too.
It's a used phone so I have no idea what it went through in the past. Anything I can do to fix it?
Try running the phone with a stock ROM without root. If the problem still happens, it's probably a hardware problem.
It didn't have root but I flashed a factory image (plus another round of factory reset too) and even locked the bootloader + reset the tamper flag this time. It's working fine now but the problems normally start a few hours/days later so I can't be sure at the moment.
If it does fail again which hardware is the one with the problem? The warranty's long gone so will it be easy to buy a new part and replace it myself?
The cheapest solution may be to buy a used Nexus 5 with a smashed screen and working internal components to swap out components.

Help! Device goes MSM > Reboot > Auto-Wipe

The phone crashed suddenly while being used normally yesterday. Tried rebooting and it stays stuck in boot-logo or post boot-animation.
Rebooted into OnePlus recovery and did a wipe. It took a while, and it rebooted. Post reboot it started auto-wiping. Waited for 15 minutes - it was stuck on "wiping" before I reboot it manually, only for it to auto-wipe again on restart.
Then I went the MSM route, which happened successfully. Only this time, when the phone rebooted after MSM, it began auto-wiping again. I left the phone for an hour, it still said "wiping", which I had to cancel. Then the whole process starts again. The only difference after MSM process was the "Wiping" was written in Chinese.
What should I do to escape the auto-wipe loop.
Edit: To add, I did try the "fastboot oem unlock" but it says the phone state is locked, which is visible on the fastboot screen as well against Device State. So how do I unlock it when I can't even boot into the OS.
Reflash your phone using an older MSM version, like hydrogen 5.1.3

This is a Chinese version, but it works on my phone.
