Is it safe to switch from EEA ROM to the Global version? - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Questions & Ans

Hello,
I live in Latin America and I have the EEA version of this phone.
I download both EEA and Global ROMs (V12.2.4.0); I compare the firmware and vendor binaries, which are different. All the ROMs in this forum recommend using the Global version as a base, so I want to know if is it safe to make the change?
Is there a difference in the hardware of the phones sold in Europe compared to the rest of the world?
I read someone in this forum saying that he had switched to the global version and his phone had network throubles, no matter he flashes again the EEA version. Maybe the modems of some phones are different?

The difference between the global rom and the European rom is the European rom meets the European laws in force: limitations of personal data, limitations of certain functionality.
You can after unlocking the bootloader install the global rom without networks problem.
You can also install xiaomi Chinese roms.

Can i buy in china (during my trip) and install a Global ROM?

Hello everyone,
as per the title, can i buy the mi mix 2s in china from a local seller and then switch it to a Global Rom?
Will i encounter bands problem for example? i live in EU
Thank youu
Yes, you can just install the global rom, I'm living in germany and also got the chinese version. You may check what LTE bands are used in your country since the chinese version does not have all the bands the global version has. However, the extra bands the global version has are mostly used in africa and america so chances are good that you'll be fine
Are you entirely sure that the two versions come with different bands? I can't find any confirmation anywhere

Yes they do come with different bands. I do not recommend you buying the chinese variant!
Look for the model that ends with XA ! this is the Global one with all bands.
Trust us. There is a reason for different models to exist.
The Chinese model can install global ROM but you cannot lock bootloader afterwards so it is not safe and many apps will not work.
Global model has more bands than base Chinese models but same as 8/256 Chinese model.
You can, but it would be "better" to buy it and install a rooted ROM from here if you want full features like Android Pay to function.
You can't relock the bootloader if you change from the chinese ROM.
Yes you could, but that may be not suggested depending on the model you want to get...
For 6+64 / 6+128 models, China variant (XE model) differs from global variant (XA model): XE has less band support and you need to keep your BL unlocked to install global ROM. So you'd better not buy these two models in China.
Still, I can show you the missing bands on XE model if you'd like to know, but anyway I don't think it necessary to buy it...
For 8+256 model, there's no two variants, only one XA model for both China and other countries. You should be safe to buy it.
And, if you get XE variant and flash global ROM with BL unlocked, you still cannot install Magisk - you'll see bootloop and then enter recovery. That's another important reason why I don't recommend XE variant. The only way to install Magisk is to install MiPa kernel instead of the stock one.

Hi nebula72,
Yes, to comply to European laws, the matching version apparently has less bloatware and gives more choices on search engine & browser.
And yes (I'm sure you want to know...), you apparently can, without any issue, flash an EU OOS on top of a Global model, and vice versa.
See here for details :

Cheers.

Global ROM vs EU ROM? Shall I switch.

My OP7Pro is the international variant with Global ROM installed. I'd be soon permanently moving to the EU region, and just had this doubt if the global ROM has any difference related to modem/band settings than EU region.
I have read that apart from certain debloat due to EU restrictions, EU rom is same as the global ROM. So should I be fine living in EU flashed with global ROM and International variant of OP7Pro?
Anyone?
I don't think you will suffer in any way. A quick Google search shows that the vast majority of bands are covered and the biggest difference is the amount of bloatware on the global version compared to the eu version.

Im in the UK and have the global rom. Only reason I wanted it is the added equaliser in dolby atmos settings. Works with 4g,VoLTE etc, no problems here. I know that's the opposite to what you are saying, but you should be fine also I have no bloat on either rom minus a few one plus apps, which I had on EU rom anyway. Can all be uninstalled easily
Thanks guys, this solves my doubt. :fingers-crossed::good:

Global and Europe?

What's the difference between global AC01AA and
Europe AC01AB? Are global radio bands better? Thx in advance
I cross flashed many times, also dirty from EU to Global and vice versa and i can say, there are no differences noticeable (especially Bands). Network seems just fine on Global or on EU. In the past you got another audio equalizer or more bloatware, but in this case nothing than Dirac which is the same on both builds.
I think with the Indian Variant you will get more pre-installed apps like Amazon etc.. (didn't try that)
I don't know why they seperated Global and EU variants in the first case, so a more detailed explanation is welcome over here too.
Edit: but to be on the safe side, i would suggest you to flash the ROM which you're firmware came with.
My 2 cents..
Can I switch from Indian to Global ?
Sure, i don't see problems. But your pre-installed apps might still be there. Or you must do a complete factory reset after cross flashing to Global or to EU to get rid of some pre-installed apps which came with you're ROM in the first place.
Is it possible to go from 10.5.6 (Indian) to 10.5.5 (global) via local upgrade ? Thanks
Nope, only dirty from the same OTA Version. So only from 10.5.6 Indian to 10.5.6 to global.

Is it possible to flash Eu or global rom on an Indian variant op9?

Hello there. I've been searching for this answer everywhere but can't find anything. Some says EU or Global rom cross flashing is possible but I've heard from a few people that OnePlus 9 indian variant doesn't allow to flash eu or global rom, if you flash the phone might get bricked hardly (that why I've doubt)
Is there any indian variant user who've flashed eu or the global rom on op9? Asking it cz unlike the international version, op9 indian doesn't comes with wireless charging. People saying this is the entire reason not to flash eu rom on an Indian variant.
Even if you do, there is a chance GSM is not the same and you will have problems with SIM card.
