The version of the Kindle app is the same between my Samsung and Fire HD 8 tablets BUT the apps act completely different.
I ran the Fire Toolbox (which is awesome) but whenever I try to install the app from the Play Store it just 'enables' it and it is kinda weak compared with the general Android version.
Is this the same app that acts differently between versions of tablet? If so, can I get the one of my cleaned up Fire to act like the general Android version?

The pre-installed Amazon Kindle app is the same package name as a Google Play version.

I may or may not have replaced the integrated kindle app with one from the Google store. Then I got one of those books with Estrada features, which apparently dont work in the smartphone app. I looked to see if anyone has posted the official one, but didn't see a copy. Anyone have a copy?
I would be interested in a copy of the Kindle Fire Kindle apk as well. I read somewhere that it had additional options vs the regular android kindle app.
You can uninstall the update to Kindle and it should revert you back.to the stock reader.
I'm not sure how well the stock one works outside the stock launcher. I couldn't find a way to select a book when I had a custom launcher installed.

Hi, I just rooted my kindle fire to be able to access the android market, and in the market app it does not even bring up blood and glory when searched? But if I go to the market via the web I can see it but it then says it is not compatible with my rooted kindle?? So I cannot download It.???? So are there just some apps that will not work??? Or is there a way around this?
Thanks!

Apps a deigned to work only with the right hardware. You could try to fake it so the market thinks its a different device but it still may not work
Because its the Kindle Fire the Amazon App Store is default. And so when company's like Gameloft release a game they'll assume that your Kindle Fire doesn't have access to the Android Market and most of the time they'll only release the app for the Android Market meaning that the Market app will filter the app out. One of the ways to get around this is to go onto your computer and download the apk file and then transfer it to your Kindle. Once you've installed it on your Kindle it should run. You can download an apk file via your Kindles browser as long as it is an apk file. I'm not to sure about paid app's however.
Thank for the info!
So how do I go about downloading the APK file (blood and glory) to a computer, as the market again will not let you download it (need android device)??? and once I have the file do I just drop it in to the main kindle drive (no special folder or any thing).. because when trying to find all my other APK app files that are installed on my kindle I can't find where they are store at on my kindle??
I am pretty new to all this still...
Thanks again, you guys are great!
I'm not sure if anyone had this situation, but I've been trying to install Android and got stuck.
I was able to install TWRP through Kindle Fire Utility v.0.9.
I Wiped the system so that I can install Android "tryforsdcard"
But I noticed that I unzipped it prior to moving it over to Kindle.
I don't have update.zip in the SD card to go back to factory setting.
On Kindle Fire Utility, it says
ADB Status: ONLINE
ADB Rooted: YES
Boot Status: 5001
I can't go back to Bootmode Normal, it'll just stop.
I know if I can go into Kindle and load update.zip/tryforsdcard then I can install either of the OS, but can't get in from PC. on Device settings it is recognizing as Android ADB Interface, and on my Comp it shows Removable Disk(D, where I used to be able to have access, in transparent gray...
I appreciate your help!!
Since this topic is about the Kindle Fire, does anyone know if it can access the Android market or is it limited to Amazon's Android App Store?
I considered making a Kindle Fire purchase for playing my Android games on. But there are some that were bought through the Android market. If the Kindle Fire doesn't access the Android market, I wouldn't be able to use my Android market apps and games on it.
If it doesn't I'll look into an iPad or Android tablet. I have a majority of the same games from Android on iOS. Getting an iPad would allow me to play the games I usually play on Android. Getting an Android tablet would also let me play all of them that I have between the Amazon App store and Android market.

I think if you root it, you can. Once rooted, you install the market.apk on it.

Is anyone else having issues downloading tablet specific apps on to the kindle fire from the web market? It says that the kindle is not compatible.
For example: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cnn.mobile.android.tablet
That app says it is incompatible with the kindle running ics.
Am I alone, or missing something?
Oddly enough the app in the link you posted isn't compatible with my Kindle running CM7, but this one from Time Magazine (for tablets) is: Time Magazine Tablet App
What is the determining factor here?
I guess my Android version checks out for that specific tablet app, but yours should check out too since you're running ICS...
Yea, the Time magazine is compatible as well. Are honeycomb apps still just honeycomb only, and not ics compatible yet?
Hi, i'm totally new to rooting and installing alternate ROMs, but i just installed KitKat CM11 and GAPPS KK on my kindle fire HD 7" following RootJunky's excellent tutorial video 'How To Install KitKat CM11 on the Kindle Fire HD 7in' -
Everything appears to be working fine and dandy, but when i download a new app from Google Play or 1 Mobile Market, they send the Amazon Kindle version rather than the android version (i know KFT is android but i don't know how else to phrase this) . So far i have about 80% success rate in these downloaded apps working.
For example, Dolphin Browser, Lastpass, MoliPlayer, Pocket, Amazon Kindle Reader all work, most games do not.
My guess is that this is something to do with the graphics demand of the games.
My rather long winded question is this, is it possible to make my machine not appear to be a KFT as far as these sites are concerned. If so would these apps be more likely to work, or is the problem not an incorrect version of the app but rather some incompatibility between KitKat operating system and Kindle hardware.
Any suggestion / info gratefully received.
