First you need to unlock your bootloader. Then..
1. Download your stock rom(Try to get the latest version) & empty vbmeta.img.
2. Install magisk. Patch boot.img(From your stock rom).
3. Now flash emptyvbmeta.img and patchedboot.img in fastboot mode.

Hi, I finally managed to port TWRP recovery, which boot on 9001D. This allows to do the permanent root, to modify the stock rom and possibly to install other roms.
Recovery is still unstable, I need help to make it stable!
Then, now Available for 9001D:
- TWRP

Mmmm , better to use command
"fastboot boot recovery recovery.img"
If
"fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
Can be dangerous if recovery isn't built from source and the port is bad ...if port works using "boot" command maybe try to flash it ...
But I found another recovery to use as a base for my port , thanks !
*Also my BOOTLOADER IS LOCKED BY VODAFONE*
So anyways my port will be useless...

Yes , they have worked for me in the past but on other phones. Your bootloader must be unlocked and remember to use the command without the quotation marks ..""
*You should also rename your recovery to recovery.img AND VERY IMPORTANTLY put it in your adb or fastboot tools root folder.
Then if you installed adb and run a command window BUT FROM INSIDE the tools folder where the recovery image is and run the following commands one by one it will work if your drivers are installed and your bootloader is unlocked
adb devices
*Return a serial number for your phone in window
adb reboot bootloader
*phone should boot into bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
*will unlock your bootloader if you press volume up
fastboot boot recovery recovery.img
*The recovery should boot ( if it boots and you can make a backup to SD card successful ly
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

You need to use a patched boot.img to get root on this device as there is no fastboot. There are guides online on how to use magisk to patch the boot.img and then flash that to your phone. That will give you permanent root after which you will be able to install twrp. If you flash twro without root or a patched boot it will remove it each time you boot up.

Hello fellow A2 Lite owners!
I just got this device today and would LOVE to root 10.0.7.0, However it seems like the only way to go through this is by using a patched boot image which is not viable because none have showed up for 10.0.7.0 yet.
Will there be any other solutions for this? Thank you.

Obviously, It is my preferred way since I used it on a couple of devices including my Redmi Note 4 and Mi Pad.
My concern is not OTA but whether it would somehow break the ROM
Yes, I am aware of Mi Flash, Flashing stock ROMS, and other techniques but it's just that i don't have time for such long endeavors and would like to have a safe-ish way.
However I will try to get twrp running temporarily to install magisk.

Thats my current problem.
I tried to load up downloaded pached boot.img for version V10.0.7.0.PDLMIXM
I also tried to make patched boot.img from original boot.img over phone via Magisk. It doesnt work, bootloop again.

Boot twrp command » fastboot boot twrp.img
Flash twrp command » fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
I assume you tried "flashing twrp" command, if that's the case it will replace your boot.img to twrp.img that's why it appears the "system has been destroyed" error... Try the "boot twrp command" if you want to access twrp temporarily... Coz right now we cant do(flash full twrp recovery) that as far as I know....

Best way to unlock bootloader is install the allinone tool, tap build number to get developer option, oem unlock, advance reboot, boot into bootloader. From the allinone tool choose your model, and click unlock.
Wipes u clean, then install adb fastboot terminal and make note where it installs. Download the magisk manager and install modual as zip. Pick a TWRP img and download it. I would rename it to twrp, put that file where adb fastboot installed and put a copy on ur phone. Open the command prompt in that folder and put phone back on bootloader. Type fastboot boot twrp.img...should say booting, reboots to twrp on phone. Click advanced, install ram disk, find that twrp img and install. Then go back back and installed the magisk zip you downloaded. When you reboot twrp should stick and magisk should be installed

Do i have to remove my pin and fingerprints first before all of this?
anyone have a step by step to root Bison GT? Been out of the game for a while.
You can follow the steps in the link below but use the Bison GT boot.img file from the rom on umidigi's site. I can confirm this works.
https://community.umidigi.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=17376
*Remember, unlocking your bootloader will cause your phone to be erased.
Here is the short version:
In a nutshell, assuming you have your drivers setup for ADB and Fastboot...on this phone, everytime I go into bootloader mode, I have to goto device manager and set the driver manually to the google bootloader one.
Steps:
unlock bootloader
install magisk apk on phone(https://magiskmanager.com/)
Extract boot.img from stock rom that is installed on your device. https://community.umidigi.com/forum.php?mod=forumdisplay&fid=258
Copy boot.img over to your phone
Run magisk app on your phone, click install, click from file, locate boot.img on your phone and start. This will patch that boot.img
Copy patched boot.img that magisk created from your phone to your PC
Reboot phone into bootloader mode/fastboot (adb reboot-bootloader)
Flash patched boot image to boot partition: fastboot flash boot nameofpatchedboot.img
Reboot into phone and see if it worked.
This will get root working on Bison GT

Ah, You would use fastboot to flash it. Though, there are some steps in there I generalized. Like step 1, unlock bootloader requires a few steps and fastboot...
I'll have to go back and edit my post to get much more specific. I don't have time now, buy in a few days. Otherwise, if you find someone elses post about rooting and unlocking the older "Bison", those step should all be the same.
I think umidigi has this detailed out on their messageboard. Otherwise, just wait till I get back here to update this with all the details.

Oh nice, thank you for the rapid response. Unfortunately I do not yet have a X5 Pro, I'm actually waiting for custom roms to appear, ever since Xiaomi baked gestures into the stock launcher I stopped buying phones until I could custom rom. Nova Launcher is a must for me and using it without gestures feels wrong. I was just curious as to how you rooted without a custom recovery. Very interesting you are using magisk on a different device to patch the boot image in the fastboot rom, which I assume you will flash using the mi flash. Is that what's happening? Thank you.

Thank you.

No need to flash with mi flash after u patch it with magisk.
After magisk step
U will boot into fastboot and install the patched boot. Img
U may have 2
One is for fastboot rom
2nd is for recovery rom
Depends on the rom u falshed during flashing using mi flash tool
For fastboot u will use receovey comand
For bootloader rom u will use boot command while flashing boot. Img
Hope it will help u and others
Also yeah these are the silly things I wanted to root this phone. Navigation or lockscreen wallpaper suggestions or annoying box icons etc etc

If I'm not wrong, you can do these with the debloater via usb debugging
