Neat brother, thanks for the heads up !
Do they force us to use Gapps, or is there a google free version as well for those who don't want the malware ?
Gapps is included. Don't think they have a non Gapps version. I am on Lineage at the moment as I could not get Google Chrome to work on the 4.0 version of this ROM and had issues getting cdDroid running. I would like to get on 11 but I need a stable ROM for my daily driver.

Chrome is working, but there's issue with in call audio. Don't use this version, they're fixing it.
Thank you for the update. Will hold off for the next release.

What's the bug? I'm using It for two hours and it seems pretty stable (ok, I haven't still test any call).

There's no in or out audio when you call or receive a call with the Phone app, even if connected through a Bluetooth device (car or headphone).
Besides that, this new official ROM is very good.
I'm really surprised of its stability... Is it feasible to use Nuclear version until the bug is fixed?

On 4.0, Chrome would just freeze at 60 seconds on the dot. Not sure if that is what yours is doing but if so then they still have not fixed it on 4.1 :-(

Maybe is worth to mention I had to install QQ1A.200105.007 firmware (January 2020) to be able to use TWRP to flash StatiXOS 4.1. Before, my device was using last Essential official build (February 2020) but with this firmware TWRP didn't work, as reported at many threads.
I know StatiXOS 4.1 is using its own vendor, but I guess the firmware goes beyond the vendor and there could be some leftovers.

Nope, I just didn't use 4.0 because of something else. My IMS was not registered and so no VoLTE available.

Well then I am glad that they fixed the Chrome issue in 4.1. Once the in-call audio I will give it another try.
Hope next version will be better. Many thanks!
I don't know if it's related to the ROM or the Android version but I can't get the Amazon apps to work (Amazon and Amazon Prime Video).

Has the camera app improved in Oreo?
Has anyone successfully tried flashing NMI81C to an unlocked device? I can't imagine there'd be a problem, but if no one has done it or seen any problems with it then I know what I'm doing when I get home tomorrow. That was the last build my bluetooth music controls worked with, so I'm pretty excited to be able to flash back to it.

I do not think any app was updated. Unless there is some API in Oreo that would inherently improve the cam.
Does anyone know if you can flash the unlocked firmware onto the Sprint's variant of the Essential after it is carrier unlocked?

Oreo running great...only found one bug dealing with wifi hotspot and not being able to select 5ghz as the band to use.
Since flashing Oreo last night I am getting excellent battery life and it appears that I may do better than I was on Android nougat. Personally I really like this phone and no the camera is not the best but for $450 this is probably the nicest phone anyone can hold in their hand at any price point. Once the dads get interested because of price and we can get a port for the Huawei camera I'm sure this camera would do very well

Nice, I will try to flash the Oreo beta of the Unlocked version to my Sprint variants. BTW, do you happen to know how to trigger the UICC unlock menu without having to have the Sprint sim in there and activate the phone? Sprint reps told me the phone is unlocked on their end, but my phone still say invalid sim because the UICC unlock menu has not been activated on the phone itself. Would flashing the unlocked firmware solves this?
Only downside for me so far on the beta is battery life.
On nougat I would go to bed with 100% battery and wake up with 100%.
On Oreo I woke up with like 97%. Keeps dying quicker during the day as well, but this is expected as they mentioned the Oreo framework wasn't optimized for battery life yet.

Not only does it work but definitely recommended as you will get the latest fingerprint sensor fix as well as better screen touches.
I am coming up on 24 hours into this Oreo beta, and it's my daily driver. So far, so good. Battery life seems a bit better for me, although it was great before - hard to do an apples to apples comparison though. No bluetooth issues, in fact, this seems a bit better with Plantronics Voyager/Legend than before - haven't tried in the car yet. I had one spontaneous reboot (I wasn't using it, just sitting on the desk and I noticed it rebooting) but so far, I can't see any reason not to charge ahead. The install did turn off wifi calling, I had to re-enable that. No service/signal issues (on T-Mobile in central Texas).
New View 10 owner. I'm getting fc's and hangs using GMaps. Waze works fine so it has nothing to do with GPS. I was a beta tester but I opted out and uninstalled any updates hoping that would work but only got more of the same.
Any help would be appreciated. Love the phone however!

Having the same exact issue and I've solved it, sort of. If you sign out of your Google account inside maps it will work perfectly, but once you sign in and restart the app it stops working again. So it works fine as long as you're not signed into your Google account inside the app...

I have no lagging issues, as far as I know
I mean the smart mode from the Screen Resolution:
You can switch from FHD+ (2160X1080) to HD+(1440X720).
Smart Screen Resolution: It decides on its own depending on your battery level.
Also from what've been reading recently, this might be a common software issue that is associated with the Kirin 970 chipset or EMUI 8.0 as some people are experiencing the same issues with the Huawei P20. Hopefully this speeds up the process of an upcoming patch to solve the problem.

I second this. No problems at all, and I have been using Google Maps often recently. Simply works flawlessly.
I am having the same issue. I tried factory reseting my phone and maps still closes on me. Only time maps seems to work is with the Andriod auto app. ?
Update:
Apparently the Magisk module "Pixel 2 blurry panorama fix" was the cause of all these problems.
I just (dirty) flashed the latest image with Android 10 and immediately started having issues.
1. The camera isn't working!! (No front and back. Other camera apps or video-calling like Duo don't work either)
This is the worst bug because I love the Pixel 2 camera. I tried uninstalling, emptying cache and data. It doesn't work in safe mode either.
update: Apparently Magisk module "Pixel 2 blurry panorama fix" was the culprit
2. After rebooting it always defaults to Night Light on.
Minor annoyance.
3. Fingerprint unlock seems slower. But this might have to do with the incompatibility of Nova Launcher Beta.
4. Tasker won't run.
The camera not working really bums me out most though. Anyone else having this problem after updating?
I have pixel2 with Android 10.

May be a recalibration of the signal indicator. Are you looking as the actual signal strength in an app (compared to what it was before)? The indicator (`bars` of signal strength) are notorously no linear in some phones to make them look better
hmmm....
i get problem flash screen when i press keyboard (chat,cmt,... )
sometimes crash app (i play game, and when it get battle game close - sometime )
parallel app not working .
some app can't hold in multitasking (my phone free-ram 1,9gb . i only get 1 app for multitasking, sometime it can hold, sometime it restar ??? )
Pixel 2 here i never rooted my device or installed any other ROM only Stock all the time.
Update to Android 10 with the recived OTA i never had any problems and cant find a single bug, the battery is the same like in PIE the LTE signal strenght and so on.
No freeze no crashes of the app and is working smooth.

Glad u posted this. I've been in a telegram for a lsposed module asking if anyone else using the module was having the same issue of that module making the p7p VPN stop. I guess it's not the module and is just the VPN itself.
Anyway, ya, mine isn't working either. Proton VPN is probably better anyway.

Who like to take that offer even for free...? There is no possibility to change location. "Unfortunately, the VPN by Google One is very barebones, and it’s kind of similar to Apple’s own Private Relay feature in iCloud+. The Google One VPN will reduce online tracking by hiding your IP address, protect you from hackers on unprotected Wi-Fi networks, and give you a secure and private connection when browsing the web." REDUCE? Really? Should be completely blocked. Google is really big business and everything what they do is not fir us. Everything is to get bigger money. How you can trust to VPN Google if they have some internal policy for that service. Is not VPN. VPN can block all tracking. Not just reduced.
