2. Touch the icon highlighted in the image

Hi, I used a normal USB-C to USB-A cable to connect to my PC and enable the USB tethering, because I'm using the tablet as a second monitor. Why are you using an OTG cable?

I used the otg cable because I want to connect my smartphone to the tablet to use the internet connection from the smartphone to the tablet via USB tethering.
I can enable usb tethering on the smartphone when both devices are connected but the tablet does not seem to use the internet connection.

I understand, but that's not what this guide is meant for and I don't know if that's possible. These instructions only allow you to enable USB Tethering, Bluetooth Tethering or create a Wi-Fi Hotspot to share the tablet connection.

I am also interested...
I have a Sirf Star II bt dongle, which has a mini usb port. I dont know if I could connect to it via mini usb with my HTC Wizard, and of course use it for GPS Navigation. The reason I want to do this is that I only want to give power supply to my Wizard, not both of the devices
I'm sure this is a rellay interesting thing, not only for GPS mouse USB, but also for USB hard disk and so on....
I'm almost sure that the hardware have the possibility to be used with host function, but I don't know if there are some specific driver to install...
I hope that some guru of this forum should help us..
nope
for my knowledge- there is no posibility of any (undocumented) usb host avilability for our devices. (chip, schematics e.t.c)- I'm 99% shure 4 that.
try Eten m600 or qtek 9000...
According to this diagram, the OMAP850 supports USB Host and Client, so with the proper drivers and cables it should be able to connect to and use USB devices
There is also some discussion about it over here http://www.htcwizardweb.net/node/661

ethernet port connection - is it possible?

ive done some searching but cant seem to find answer
i want to know if its possible to get some sort of adapter that would allow the diamond to be connected to an ethernet cable. Ive seen some adapters on ebay to allow you to connect a standard size usb input to the mini usb port and then i found a usb to ethernet port. would this work?
i want to be able to use the phone to check network connections and other basic things without having to carry a laptop round with me
any info would be much appreciated
HAve you finger something out? Got the same problem found some converters usb to rj45 but, lets say, in Poland it's not so cheap (I mean - the adapter) so I have to be sure to buy one.

I highly doubt windows has drivers for that built in
If you would boot a competent linux kernel talking to /dev/eth0 would probably do the trick though.

[Q] USB OTG not working, is this adapter good?

Hi everyone, I bought this female to female USB adapter http://dx.com/p/usb-female-to-female-adapters-pair-106349 to convert my regular micro USB cable to USB OTG one. Togehter with a tested and working USB-Y cable I connect a flash drive and it only blinks for a second (glows all the time when plugged into computer), then goes out. I tried my charger and laptop as power sources. The phone doesn't show anything, no new stuff in /mnt. Also tried mouse, no good either. The smartphone is HTC Sensation with ARHD 6.8. The kernel should support USB OTG, and there is a video on youtube with working example. Can this adapter be the problem, should I buy a normal USB OTG cable?

This female to female adapter doesn't convert USB cable into OTG. In USB OTG cable also two correct pins must be connected together.
Just buy USB OTG Cable with USB power.

Are you asking about using an external wifi adapter? To get better reception of a distant free public wifi or war driving?
I haven't done it with the S4, but I don't think it would be any different once you get the adapter driver sorted out. An example, [GUIDE] Using external USB wifi .
In reverse, I use a cheap Tenda W311U USB wifi stick at work, in AP mode so I can connect my phone (official work wifi is limited). It has a Linux driver, as do many other adapters.
You might search for "Android External Wifi Adapter" instead "wlan1 adapter" and you'll get better hits.

and there is Linux drivers. I tryed to compile it on my Asus M51vr laptop, - I got only compiling errors (even I installed kernel "something"..) About compiling on mobile phone - on READ-ONLY system and where is no compatible drivers..?
That's why am asking for help I've read that it's possible to connect Alfa USB adapter...

[Q] Tablet or phone as a powerbank

Hi. Is there any tweak or hack that will enable me to use my tab as a powerbank by using otg cable and usb cable. it is clearly that the power can come out from the usb port because it can power up a pendrive or for some tablet a hard disk. So it sound like possible to enable a tablet to become a powerbank.
Furthermore, is there any tweak that will enable me to transfer data from a tablet to a phone or vice versa by using otg cable and usb cable.
Thanks everyone.
asking response
anyone? or im just the one who in need of this...

Nope. There ain't no way you can use your phone as power bank meanwhile you can use its battery if you can remove that to get some power in your phone.. That works nice.
Why do you need to transfer data from tablet to phone using otg when you've got superbeam by the side.
Download and install suoerbeam you'll be addicted....
