Can someone please make a twrp for umidigi Bison please...
Ok guys I managed to root the umidigi bison what you need is the patched boot.img and the vbmeta.img download the stock rom and extract the boot.img patch it with latest magisk manager. , Next I flashed the imgs through Ubuntu os in this order
Fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash boot magiskpatched.img
Fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
And that's it attention: you can't alter the system in anyway what so ever or you will have to reflash your stock rom and go through the same process...
Assuming you already got your bootloader unlocked and adb debugging on you will have successhere the files I used
I have one as well I've been testing on. Thus far its a mixed bag. I like the hardware and capabilities. The phone camera software sucks. Want to root the phone to get a stable version of GCam running.

Hi!
I got it for almost 3 weeks and I feel the same; to me it's almost as I have a Hummer with a beatle carburator.
I love the hardware but the SO it's very so-so, to say it kindly.
I think that the camera could do a lot better with a little software improve so I would love to root it Can somebody share a method to do the rooting?

I have one as well. There are two major issues with it. Only one of the two programmable keys works and they claimed to support PTT (push to talk) but I see no such feature.
I also have had connectivity issues with ATT in USA. Only 3g signal works.
Do any of you have these issues?

In my experience to get a custom rom made requires alot of people asking and even paying some $ to get it done. We Bison owners are few and may not generate enough interest....yet!

Following this intently. I've been hammering Umidigi tech support for the solution. If this was sorted out and I got better pictures, this phone would be great. Right now I'm sort of holding on
if we can GCAM to work on Umidigi Bison with the quad-lens, it would be great.

I have one and was able to do something with the second button. You need to uninstall the Zello app that comes preloaded on the phone. The second button is programmed to work with this, but when it's no longer available, it does nothing (no place to configure it either)
You can then find a program on Google Play called Button Mapper Pro, then add this button. From there, you can customize what it does, single click, double click and long press. Works great.
I had an Ulefone Armor 2 and did the same thing with the buttons, although I could not remove the Zello app on that phone so the long press was always confusing the apps and crashed the device. I didn't see anything like this on the Bison. I also have an AT&T SIM card (prepaid), and I get 4G on this but no volte

I don't know about all the lens working but I did find another thread here about GCAM working on this device.
this link worked for me
BSG GCam 8.1 - CYANOGEN MODS
www.cyanogenmods.org
was surprised that the night sight cam worked really well, although the pic is "smaller" when viewing it? probably misconfigured screen res and stuff. I didn't play with it enough. Portrait mode works on rear camera too. Front cam was always a no show though.
I really liked the fact that this camera on the Bison is "Limited" API 2 doesn't seem to be enabled yet the key items I like about the GCAM (portrait and night sight) are working well enough.

Changed service to Tmobile and now its kickin with with VoLTE!
I will try Button Mapper. I guess Zello was the PTT app though so I will have to figure that out if we want PTT.
Thanks for the suggestion!

I am not so sure this is a good app. The download is 99 meg, ten times the size of open cam. After install other apps are randomely crashing or wont open. I uninstalled it and still have those issues. May need a factory reset.
So I managed to get root with a patched boot.img as per instructions here. Thought I'd try to make my own TWRP for this device but failed. However, there's a TWRP port utility from hovatek that I used and it seems to get a bit better (actually got the TWRP recovery boot screen to come up) but like many others on a fairly new mediatek android device, it needs a newer version of TWRP (3.5 or higher I guess) - the TWRP porter is version 1.7a, gives you 3.4 TWRP.
So close
I'll keep at it and see what I can get. I was already able to get a small device tree to help build recovery and is up on Github

Hey guys i know the Pixel Experience rom has been released for a long time, more information about this Pixel Experience rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/8-1-0-pixel-experience-t3796011
but unfortunately we could not boot on nokia devices after we flashed this rom
Congratulations that bootloop problem has been solved right now, we are not tired to flash roms
DOWNLOAD TWRP https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-e7zNrXp_mi468h-Zu1X5gbwQtgE17I6
follow these steps
1: unlock your bootloader
thank for @hikari_calyx
2: erase data/factory reset
3: connect your computer with adb and flash any roms based on project preble ( AOSP or RR )(why this step ? my friend told me that this twrp has a bug which can't boot recovery on official firmware)
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
4: flash this TWRP supported project treble with
Code:
fastboot flash boot_a TWRP.img
Code:
fastboot flash boot_b TWRP.img
5: boot into the twrp
6: extract rom image from PE zip and download Magisk-v16.6.zip, after that move them to Internal Storage
7: format data and flash the Pixel Experience image, choose "System image" Notice: Don't do a reboot before flash Magisk.zip
8: flash the magisk.zip
9: wipe all data and reboot. Done !
Notice: you may see Your Device Is Uncertified when you intend to login Google on this device
Just Do This
Download and install Device ID.apk
copy your Google Service Framework ID
fill your GSF ID on this web and Clink on REGISTER
reboot some times you will be able to use google apps
btw all project treble roms do not include Adaptive brightness and Ambient display
fix them at here https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/overlay-enable-night-light-adaptive-t3741965
I'm on this rom for three days and every things go fine unless fingerprint control bug (that means you can control your phone easily with fingerprint)
thanks for viewing, sorry for my english is poor but I've been improving it, I wrote this GUIDE without translate tool
thanks for every member which develop the project treble rom and TWRP and something else
some amazing screenshots

Thank you for your development for the Nokia 7 plus. Really appreciated.
Well, I installed the system image, but now my SIM is not recognized.
I will go through setup and see if the SIM works afterwards?
EDIT: No IMEI on SIM slot 1, there is an IMEI on slot 2 but this slot also does not work.
And of course, I did not do a backup of my working system. (You'd think I would have learned by now, but NO )

I got my entire system back up and running using the July patched boot image flashed into boot a and b and then sideloaded rollback zip etc, etc....
In general I have found that when I get my self into these situations, if I actually have a back up it ends up failing anyway.
It's always more fun walking the tightrope.
Anyway, both SIM slots are fine on stock ROM rooted with magisk, xposed etc.
I won't be flashing any treble images until I hear more success stories in that respect, I feel that our twrp still has some kinks that need to be ironed out.

Hi,
from what I have read, no, its not a daily driver, yet. I'd wait till the beta's are available in`May, to give it a try.
Though you could always just flash the update & see if it is OK for you. If not revert back to 10.

Usually, you can either sideload the ota or flash the new image in fastboot after removing the -w. Who knows with google though, they might decide to change that procedure somehow, too Best bet is to just wait for it to be released and follow whatever instructions are given at that point.

The canary Magisk is buggy to say the least. After removing it from my P3XL a while ago, I had to revert to stable on my wife's P3 because attempted patching just results in the app closing. It patched fine with stable.

Yeah, no issues. Been running it for over 12 hours now with multiple reboots and EX kernel install. Flashed factory image without -w. Attempted to patch boot. On failure (app closing), I force closed canary MM, cleared cache and data from app and then uninstalled it. Installed the stable APK and patched boot. Flashed magisk_patched to both slots, and it booted fine. Then installed EX (old one). This morning , updated EX to the new one. Not a single issue since the canary app closure (which others have reported when patching on various devices for days on the canary thread).

Same result. After booting sequence it just ended up with "powering off" and went to recovery after rebooting. Must have missed something. Thank you. I'll wait for your patched file then.
Edit: I found the culprit. It's my magisk modules. I removed everything and managed to get it to boot. Now just need to figure out which one is causing the bootloop. Thanks!

Just saw your edit. Do you have the Edge Sense Plus module installed? It normally takes J a day or so update the module for the new build. You pretty much need to disable that every month until he posts an update.

No I don't use Edge Sense Plus. But I did use the Centre Clock module. I think it's related to the system UI crashing hence the powering off immediately after booting. Which might also explain why the animation was kind of laggy. I'm guessing something to do with the feature drop which affected the system UI which leads to incompatibility between the ui and the module. But yeah just a guess.

I do not use that module, but it definitely sounds like it could be an issue since you weren't actually boot looped and were able to remove it. I try to keep my module use minimal (and use well vetted ones only) to avoid wondering whether they are the root cause of issues when they happen. Best of luck. Just glad you are up and running.

Sorry to stay OT, but since you mentioned EX kernel, does using it also not hide the unlocked bootloader in our "new and improved" SafetyNet world? I'm one of those for whom everything is still working so far--Pay, banking apps, device is certified, etc. I'd hate to lose all that, though, because I'm not going to unroot. I guess if I have to I can use Pay on my watch and use the banks' Web sites instead of their apps.

I was wondering if we can use the TWRP Installer Zips from like for example the Pixel 2 XL which is almost the same as what we flash actually. Our TWRP is actually from a One Plus 2 or so, while using an old Lazy Flasher with old Magisk Boot File. While the newer TWRP Installers are using a Magisk kind of Installer to do the Ramdisk changes. Only thing i wonder is if the included ramdisk cpio is Device specific or a general thing which shares between different devices!? I'm really about to just try a flash on risk but i would like to here if You know that...
@MartinX3 can hopefully look at this
The ramdisk also contains device specific files
I put the twrp 1/5 on my to-do list

This will flash the Recovery to both booth Slots. after that do "fastboot -w" which will format Your Device. Reboot into the Recovery and repeat Step 18 if possible. Would be nice to hear from You again!
Edit: You need to pass Step 18 to use Your Storage. After flashing the Zips will Your System start to work normally again. (Touch and everything else)

Thank you for the advice! I actually got my phone working with (just) magisk with your other tutorial, that also had the a and b slots. I'll edit it to see if this works too!
Also thank you for supporting a lesser known phone!
edit-
I've tried your new steps, but the phone still freezes when formatting it. Am I doing something stupid?

TWRP Recovery Project for the Samsung Galaxy A41 [Only for Android 11 Devices, will be upgraded soon.]
Team Win Recovery Project or TWRP for short. Its a fully touch driven user interface, completely theme-able & you can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Now ported to the SM-A415F.
I am not responsible for any bricked imei, when flashing TWRP backup the EFS & NVRAM partitions to be safe, do not root until having an actually good working backup, if you signal goes restore your backup, if you didn't have a previous backup I got a fix for you , flash your firmware as always but on the CP slot in Odin Flash Tool get the CP slot from a CUD4 firmware corresponding your CSC code.

A mantainer is required for this device, I just revived the project but someone with the device needs to mantain it.

Yeah, just reflash stock firmware via Odin.
Also I should update this build, the latest isn't actually the latest.
Wait until v1.2.0 gets released

The process can easily be done via fastboot.

Hi everyone. I have this device but I'm facing a problem. After over 2 years of use, it fell on the ground a few days ago, and the screen is all black. I am trying to retrieve the files from it, I have some stuff that I need. The problem is, the device is fingerprint and password locked, so when I connect it to my PC, it doesn't let me see inside the storage until I unlock it. I've trying to place my fingers on the on-screen sensor, but to no avail. I've also tried blindly writing the password but again no success. I am guessing; besides the screen, the touch sensor is also not working. I've found many solutions (various data recovery apps for PC, screen mirroring, ADB commands), but, all require usb debugging enabled, but that is not the case on my A41. My last resort is this, but I need to ask something before I do it.
1. Does flashing it automatically factory reset my phone
2. If not, does this recovery work with volume button controls (because TWRP has a UI unlike CWM which I used like a decade ago) so I can blindly locate the right options?
3. Is it possible to boot without factory reseting?
4. If not, can I just connect my device while in recovery and copy the files from there, before factory reseting it?
I don't want to fix the screen because it's like a hundred euros, and the phone is not worth that much, let alone the screen. I'll be getting a new phone next month and until them I'm using an old phone I have laying around.
Any help is appreciated.

There's nothing you can do, maybe some repair centre could temporally replace the screen just to save the data from it.

I guess I'll just repair the screen even if It's not actually worth it. Thanks though.

The latest version works on both Android versions
Will there ever be custom ROMs for the S7 FE?
Is there something certain holding devs back from making one?
Just curious.
I don't know but you can easily flash GSI now. Also I am wondering if S pen is working with GSI...

I've tried dual boot Pixel Experience 13 GSI using DSU Sideloader. It works great. Got UI bugs like the taskbar is cropped, the Settings app is not dual pane.
The S Pen works. if you hover the pen a mouse icon appear. Buttons on the S Pen seems cannot do anything.
Overall the GSI feels very snappy but you will lose some function like protect battery, Dex, S Pen features, better multitasking/multi-windows experience, etc.

Hello thanks for your answer, dsu sideloader is working here? I don't see the option in the developer settings, you used the app on GitHub?
Yes i use DSU Sideloader app on the github. No root needed but bootloader must be unlocked

It's super cheap on Amazon right now. Hopefully the cheap price can be an appeal enough that releasing a custom ROM is worth it.
I'm no developer, but if you want your Samsung tablet to run AOSP like a Pixel, check out my guide here.
Otherwise, you can install GSIs from LineageOS, PHHTreble, or other projects.
Until ROMS can preserve some OEM capabilities it will be a ways off before custom ROMs are in high enough demand for this device. Sort of like Sony and how rooting can make you lose access to certain camera functions (if I recall).

Hi!
First you have to unlock the bootloader (IT WILL ERASE ALL USER DATA) (method for maybe all Samsung device) by deactivated OEM LOCK in développement options,
then shutting down tablet and press both vol + and - while you plug the usb cable.
You LL see a warning green screen and you LL be able to unlock the bootloader.
After that I don't know if there is a TWRP recovery for that tablet but if there is one, you could flash it with Odin and then flash GSI.
If there is no TWRP, I think you can flash GSI but I don't know the method att all ..... Maybe take a look on internet "how flash GSI with Odin"?

There is an other solution with DSU SIDELOADER but it will just a make a partition with original ROM, and the GSI one.
Bootloader must also be unlocked
Don't hesitate to ask if you don't know what what I am talking about

Not necessarily, you can patch the stock recovery to accept fastboot commands with this

First of all, there are several LOS 20 GSI ROMs. Can you give a link to the one you used. And how did you flash it without fastboot? AFAIK, there is no TWRP except for the SM-T735.
