It's a good question! There's been a major rearrangement with the result being the usual mess when things that weren't broke get "fixed"

Untill now, I managed to always found the answers I was looking for by using the search function. But not this time I'm affraid and as I can't ask the question on the concerned topic (1st post on xda youhou!), I'll then create a topic in this purpose...
My question is about the recent discovery of the huge security hole with the Exynos in the SII & III. Correct me if I'm wrong (and I must be...) but from my understanding, it has to deal with the CPU and the Samsung Kernel.
So my question is: are the Custom rom and kernel concerned with this issue?

Hi, I’ve encountered a problem while trying to flash my Galaxy Note 2 with the ‚Galaxy Note2 Toolkit‘. My phone build is "JR003C.N7100XXALIJ", which isn't in the list of the builds you can pick. The only similar ones are ALIE, ALJ1 and ALJ3 - I don't know how the numbering works, any idea which one of these is the "next build up" compared to ALIJ, which you’re supposed to pick if yours isn’t on the list? I just thought I’d ask before I somehow manage to brick my phone.
I apologise for posting here, I hope it doesn't count as spam. I'm unable to post in the thread for the toolkit, since I'm new here.
Does no one know? I'd really like to root the device.

First I hope I'm not invading; I used my judgment that that is th proper place for my question.
I found an old dusty Verizon Samsung Galaxy S; did some reading on wiki to find out that is can sustain ICS!
My first question - is that true?
My second question - how do I do it? it's my first time rooting and all the tutorials on YouTube I found are 1)very old 2)lacking the files 3) some users comment things don't work.
So if there is a good soul out there which is willing to help, help will be much appreciated.

So a month and a half ago I found a galaxy s7 in the street, since then I've advertised online and around town and have only got responses from thrives. After waiting long enough I've decided to try unlock it myself as it is blocked by the original owner, I was wondering if there is anyway of resetting it by fast boot commands or any other way ? Please help, shame to let such a good phone go to waste.
