Debloat guide for LG Velvet - LG Velvet Guides, News, & Discussion

Every new phones come with its own list of useless bloated apps. You may root the phone and then, delete those apps but if you can't root or don't want to, you can also use ADB to remove them. They will still be in system folder but they won't run anymore. Here's a guide on how to use ADB Shell: How to Uninstall Carrier/OEM Bloatware Without Root Access (xda-developers.com) and here's my list of apps you can uninstall from the Velvet without any ill effects.

goog post.

Thanks for posting this! The list of apps changes a little with each LG iteration, and it's great to have a safe debloat list specific to the velvet.

Ok, so I kinda screwed up and did this before I set up everything. Now I can't change my phone's accent colour. Any ideas which package I need to re-add to fix that?
Edit: I discovered this after hard resetting my phone, but apparently one of these is now connected to the touch digitizer after last night's update.

Due to time constraints, I haven't fully narrowed it down. But I believe it's a combination of LG's theming system and LG World. But I could be wrong.
Edit: I guess I'm wrong. I just removed
Code:
com.facebook.system
com.facebook.services
com.facebook.appmanager
com.lge.gametuner
com.lge.gamepad
com.lge.gamelauncher
and the issue still exists. Now I'm stumped and have to hard reset again.

Hard reset? I can't get mine to reboot into recovery. Vol down and Power?
I figured it out. Thanks

Something on that first list breaks Android 11. If you restart it hangs after the LG boot screen and nothing happens. You can restart and nothing else and have to reboot into recovery and factory reset to get it sorted.

I appears to be com.lge.gametuner causing the boot issue. I disabled it instead using the command "adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.lge.gametuner". No issues so far, and it has remained disabled after several resets. Will keep an eye on it after the next update.

Just an fyi, a friend of mine (not me(totally me)) uninstalled a bunch of Verizon OEM apps that he thought were bloatware, and now when he tries to use the mobile hotspot it says, "An error has occurred when activating this functionality. Please try again later."
So, yeah, I'll post the solution when I find it in case anyone else is as dumb as my, "friend."

THX for the list! You are life saver. I only play one game (Island wars) and it was running so poorly I started thinking about selling my phone but now it run smoothly. It's mind boggling how much background garbage can slow down Android this day.

I'm extremely interested in this post due to having one of these phones, as I'm sure not any kind of a android expert I'm not exactly sure as to how to perform this debloating procedure on my phone, but I would assume it would involve connecting my phone to my windows computer.

Very strange, I got the phone on the first day of sale at launch in India as did u i believe.
It seems the roms are different.
My security patch is June whereas urs is july.
My version is 9.6.11 and urs is 9.6.14 something
Even kernel seems to be different.

It could be that packaging dates are different. You can go and manually check for update, and I believe you should get the latest update.

I am not using my POCO right now, especially with a locked bootloader. I tried un-locking bootloader, and it said 720 hour wait (30 days). I have applied for beta testing on MIUI forum, and hopefully they send me a confirmation for unlock within a week.
Do you think any of these services would effect bootloader unlocking process like Mi account getting detached from phone?
Thanks so much, miui has so many bloated Just waiting for a new rom!

Which app handles the Factory reset ?
Thanks for this. These tested results speeded up the process obviously. You can add whetstone(Xiaomi RAM management - not needed because android can take care), MSA(Xiaomi Ads), MIUI daemon(I donno the exact purpose but didn't cause any bootloop), MIUI security components (Guard provider), WM service, TelemetryJservice(Qualcomm Telemetry), Google Feedback.
2 things I did not remove are, MIUI account and Find device. Rest all the apps have alternatives such as google messages, firefox etc. etc.
If i want to undo / unremove these bloatware, what is the instruction? Can update miui can re appear these bloatware? Thanks
executing these commands ...mi account removed...now cant bind mi account with my device ...so how to unlock bootloader....can we rollback these changes
If i want only disable / enable these bloatware, how is the instruction? Very thanks..

Really a bluetooth issue? Can anybody else conform this? If you guys are pro, knows what you are doing then use this method else use Debloat tool also works for non-root user, this tool will remove apps which are safe to be uninstall. Follow here under link if you are interested in Debloat tool http://en.miui.com/thread-3620390-1-1.html

[GUIDE] Removing System Apps Etc without Bootloader Unlock or Rooting

HELLO EVERYONE!!! THIS GUIDE IS AVAILABLE ALL OVER XDA BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD POST IT HERE.
Basically, If you are like me, you like a nice clean debloated stock ROM, but I was too late to the party, and missed the date for bootloader unlocking (and root!)
But....all is not lost, we cannot use Titanium Backup Etc to freeze or remove system apps, because we have no root access.....
But there is a way to remove system apps without root, the commands given later will remove whatever program you want gone.
This procedure is at your own risk, make backups, it should work on most androids (Tested on Honor 10, Honor 9 Lite, Xperia XA1 and a Moto G6 Play) - Please dont moan at me if your phone explodes, makes weird noises, or kills you during the night - All the commands below will get rid of a LOT of stuff! Mine and 10 others who used this have suffered no problems at all.
What you Need :
1 x Honor 10
1 x USB Lead
ADB and Drivers installed properly on your PC
(Easiest thing to do is download and install Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 )
**Before you start, the apps option in your phone setting allows you to uninstall many programs, so uninstall away, some items just say 'disable' or nothing at all - these are the programs we are interested in **
follow the instructions on that thread how to install program properly.
Now on your phone, Enable USB Debugging (search XDA how to do this if you dont know)
open the command window (also known as CMD)
type in ADB DEVICES - if all your drivers etc all installed properly, then the message should read XXXXXXXXX (where the XXXXXXXXXXXs is your phone ID, and it will say device, if it says unauthorized, you may see a pop up on your phone screen, click allow, and run ADB devices, it should no longer say unauthorized
if you have nothing there, please install all drivers for your phone, search the forums on how to install drivers
now, type in ADB SHELL
my phone now says : HWCOL:/ $ and now allows me to enter the items that i need to debloat, you can get a list of app names by typing the command pm list packages
this will now list packages on your phone i.e
package:com.huawei.hifolder and the rest of your installed stuff
now you can enter these commands one by one, or CUT the commands and PASTE in your CMD window, after every command, it will say 'Success' but occasionally you will get error 'Failure [not installed for 0]' - this is because the app is not installed on your phone, dont worry about this.....
These commands will delete several Huawei items (some you might need, but in the interest of debloating, im including it), it will also debloat the extra included system apps (theres some facebook bloat, some other little programs, and a lot of google bloat - this will debloat a lot of it, and keep your phone lean and clean!)
Again, before doing this, read up about the programs installed on your phone, you may want a system app kept.....just choose which command you dont want to do.....) SO LETS GET TO IT

My phone is rooted and i tried to uninstall some system apps using TB.
Some apps could be removed but for some i got "apk not found".
I wasn't able to uninstall that translator app, so i would like to know if pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.microsoft.translator is working.
Yes it will work
Can I remove any of the listed above without major consequences?

Use the app on the play store app inspector to get package names
Used the whole list, I can't use my SIM card anymore. You add too many "useful" apps in your list I'll customized it
Thanks for the base
I deleted the systemmanager what will remove the "battery" section in settings.
Didn't recognize any other impact just fyi

Only happen to me after deleting system manager
Do you know if it works to remove demos apps (like the apps installed on a phone when it's for presentation in stores) and if yes which command ?
Edit: Realised that i can't even use USB debugging...
would I still be able to receive ota updates?
also, for a conservative approach, which programs would you recommend keeping ( from the list )?
Can we still use it now?
I'm running latest 8.1 because i got no 9.0 yet...

A list of apps to debloat

I've been debloating my Nokia 7 Plus since I got it in April, and occasionally I find a new app to remove, or that I simply do not use/need. I decided to share my script/list here in case someone else is also interested.
I remove most of the evenwell garbage, as well as a few Google apps such as GMail(I use Outlook), Play Music, Play Movies and TV and Youtube(I use Vanced). I also remove the Actions Service which recommends apps and actions in the launcher based on your usage patterns, which I do not really use ever. Digital Wellbeing is also removed.
The apps do not get wiped from your phone, but rather disabled for the current user, so you can enable them again if needed(I haven't bothered to try though).
Disable app actions in your Launcher settings before removing it. I am unsure whether not doing this will cause issues though, but I disabled it before removing the app. I also revoked the usage access permission of Digital Wellbeing before removing it, although it shouldn't matter.
Here is the script I use to debloat my phone via ADB:
Code:

You can execute these commands using ADB shell. If you do not have ADB, just install Minimal ADB and Fastboot. This is not a guide on using ADB, so you can find that elsewhere.
If anyone sees an app that should rather be left untouched, please let me know. My phone has been running fine for a week, so I believe everything should be safe to remove.
Thank you for your kind.

There is an app in the playstore, "apk inspector" that let you check package names. I have removed everything from evenwell before and dind't noticed anything bad. I think the phone became smoother.
PD: I forgot to comment At a glance is no more available after this... so i don't know wich one was...
What do all these apps do? Is there like a documentation for these apps and what they control? I've always missed that when trying to debloat my phone.
If you don't know what everything does one should be hesitant to just start deleting/disabling apps.

Putting it out here for everyone - "com.evenwell.foxlauncher.partner" is the package that is required for At A Glance, Clock, Calendar, Weather or Travel information to appear on the home launcher.
I had uninstalled everything else using "pm uninstall --user 0 <package names>".

[ADB][Debloat][Non-Root][OP6][OOS] Oxygen OS Debloat Solution

OOS ADB De-bloating List
Background:
Hello people, I've been back and forth unlocking / re-locking my boot loader and trying out basically everything on my OP6 since I got it a year back. I feel now that we have gotten OOS 10 with Android 10 on our devices there is no need to mess too much with rooting/unlocking, etc.
I would always root my devices to remove bloat or probably theme, but OOS 10 solves most of my theming needs with it's dark mode and customization, as for de-bloating I have found the below old but a very effective and simple method.
Requirements:
1. Windows / Linux PC.
2. Working ADB - Please set it up yourself, google is your friend
3. OP6/OP6T (Might work on other OOS devices too)
Instructions:
1. Connect the phone to the PC.
2. Open command prompt / Power Shell or terminal with admin privileges.
3. Type in the below, press ENTER and accept the prompt on your phone when it pops up.
Code:
adb devices
4. Next type in the follows and press ENTER.
Code:
adb shell
5. Next you can either copy paste the whole list or pick only those you want to remove, below is my full list, which includes most of the un-needed bloat from OnePlus and Google.
Code:

Note: I have removed many apps from Google and OnePlus which can be installed from the PlayStore or the apk can be found on apkmirror. Also this is a totally reversible method of debloating as it just uninstalls the apps for current user profile.
Ps. If you want to reverse the deleted app, check out the XDA Portal article linked below.

Hope the above helps those without root in maintaining a cleaner debloated phone.
Cheers !!

What is the impact on battery life for removing these apps?
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
@Protopia01
I lost only 3% at night. It was previously around 8-10%. "Standby" is satisfactory, especially when battery life is off screen.

Does anyone know the package name for system update?

does it improve battery life after removing these apps? If it improves battery how many extra SOT/Standby time you get?

The goal is to extend battery life anyway.
A few messages ago, I shared my own debloat code. The overnight loss of 0.3% / h I think this is pretty good value.
If you want, you can also take a look at other settings that I shared.

Great stuff. If we disable the apps instead of uninstalling them, then it may be possible to reenable them later though the menu system.
I don't seem to see Zen Mode or Digital Wellbeing in your list? That's certainly some worthless garbage that I need to get rid of. Thanks
Edit:
I see you do have Zen Mode in the list (last one). I didn't know they code named it "Brick Mode".

AFAIK Android shell pm uninstall command cannot be used with system and/or system-priv apps: herefore Android must be rooted.
My experience is that bloatware by default by OEM mostly gets installed as system-priv apps.

Please go through this - https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
I have tried this on Lenovo TAB 3 710F and it works with it Android 5.0
You are highly recommended to CAREFULLY read posts.
works fine on system and system-priv apps. no root required. we don't care about occupied storage on /system it's read-only partition anyway. uninstall will disable package in that case. you can clear its app data beforehand, or suppress the -k flag to free up disk space on /data partition.
My understanding is that
1. bloatware are apps no one really needs to drive an Android phone so it usually safely can get deleted: these OEM-added apps simply waste system resources.
2. uninstall and disable are 2 totally different actions.
Also people say that even in a disabled state, these apps will still spy on you and collect information, and thereafter send them to the company that made them. But this data is significantly less compared to what it would have collected when it was enabled.
