I can not root Sony xperia z3 with following specs:
Unlocked bootloader - Carbonrom 8.0 - Android 10 - Latest Build installed - CARBON-CR-8.0-PAX-RELEASE-z3-20201220-1318.zip, and TWRP - all working fine.
But no magisk zip installed by twrp will root device. I think supersu does not work with android 10 but tried it anyway. I had MM on device and supersu rooted it fine through TWRP.
p.s. Sorry, I did factory reset and Magisk 20.4 installed through TWRP rooted phone fine. No problem here.
No problem

Hi everyone, I recently got a xiaomi mi4i and I want to install cyanogenmod 12.1.
For that, I need to root y phone.
Can you help me plz?
I rooted my v6 and 7.0 successfully.
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4i/development/tool-mi-toolkit-v4-root-twrp-stock-t3170607
Not sure about the latest V7.1 as I am reluctant to update - why mess with something that works well enough...
Toolkit v4 does work on 7.1
Updated to 7.1.1 (OTA)
This one doesn't work for rooting:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4i/development/tool-mi-toolkit-v4-root-twrp-stock-t3170607
This one works, after rebooting twice:
http://androidmtk.com/root-xiaomi-mi4i
[note: it doesn't have recovery, but my recovery from previous root was intact. anyway it is easy to re-flash recovery if I need to]
anyone tried on latest 7.2.3?
Fastboot flash TWRP recovery and flash supersu zip via TWRP
For locked BL?
I can't download fastboot and adb drivers. And TWRP....
Activate fastboot in developer options.
How to chance IOS value of mi4i
Have now done the following .
1. Cell unroot per SuperSU ( If only a short note, then the app closed )
2. boot into TWRP manually and flashed Magisk - v6
3. next phh 's systemless superuser ) with Super SU magisk version already tried )
4. Mobile launched new
5. After that, it will not boot - When loading only the LED that flashes red and I have to flash a new firmware ...
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong ?
Have a Sony Xperia Z3 D6603
gerooted and SuperSU ( 2.78 )
TWRP 3.0.2-0
Rom : PureX v5 ( Android 6.0.1 - 23.5.A.1.291 )
Locked Blootloader
would be great if he had a solution for me ...

I had the same, but maybe the SU can't uninstall. I'm on existenz Rom...
Don't you need an unlocked bootloader?
Sent from my D6633 using Tapatalk
at magisk was nothing about it because that an unlocked bootloader is required.
Yes unlocked Bootloader is required. My Bootloader is unlocked. But can't delete the superuser.apk. That's bad
Exactly the same happened to me. I tried SLiMM 3.1 and PureX V5. After installing Magisk in TWRP device is like dead - only led flashes. If I used Elite kernel, system boots, but the system gets random restarts. Now flashing eXistenZ.
Maybe cause you need to be on stock rom and stock kernel
I use the stock kernel with custom Rom based on the latest official version
Got same issue when using stock kernel on my Xperia Z2, switched to Advanced stock kernel Marshmallow 6.0.1 'cause it has Systemless root support and SElinux permissive and now everything works.
I have try it again, with unroot and install Magisk. Now it works with the advanced stock kernel. But I have some reboots when root is enabled.

I have the same problem, I can see S1 /SOMC Flash Device in Device Manager.
Could someone please post step by step instructions to restore a to Marshmellow?
Will I have to download an Image and a Flashtool?
I have D6603 with TWRP, I am not able to boot to recovery.

Here's the short version of my story:
1) Got my new OP6 and turned it on.
2) Immediately upgraded OS to 9.02
3) Unlocked the bootloader + installed TWRP+Magisk
Problem. Xposed modules aren't (yet) supported on Android Pie. I want to downgrade.
4) Downloaded + Installed OS 5.18
5) Reinstalled Magisk on other slot before rebooting
Now I have OS 5.18 installed, Magisk root installed, bootloader unlocked, but TWRP was Erased. I'm away from home for the holidays, and I don't have access to any computer for another month.
Is there a way I might install TWRP with Magisk? I'm not afraid to use the command terminal if needed. Thank you

Hello. I'm trying to flash a TWRP custom recovery on a SM-A305G (Galaxy A30). While reading the official A30's post on the TWRP website, in order to properly flash the custom recovery, they recommend me to first root my device with Magisk (which I understand how to) but THEN flashing a pre-rooted TWRP image for my device. How could this be done?

Thanks in advance to who could answer this question. Internet hero.
Rooting Android OS is adding an user with elevated rights ( comparable to adminstrator in Windows OS ) to it, nothing else.
TWRP recovery does not require a phone's Android is rooted.

That just isn't how it is done, we don't root TWRP, we root the phone's OS. There isn't anything to "root" in or about TWRP because TWRP has the power to modify a device without needing root.
It isn't required, but, it is possible to root a device and then use an app such as Rashr, Flashify or TWRP Manager along with root permissions to flash a TWRP img or even use a Terminal Emulator app with root permissions to install TWRP via dd commands. It doesn't "have" to be done this way, it's just an alternative way to achieve root and flash TWRP on devices that are capable of doing it this way, in this order, not all devices can do it this way.
I want to have Magisk AND TWRP.
I rooted the phone with Magisk and had Magisk running.
Then installed TWRP app and flashed TWRP with root permission.
Now TWRP is installed but Magisk is gone again.
How can I have BOTH?

Flash the Magisk.zip via TWRP just to be sure binaries are installed, then wipe cache and dalvik cache in TWRP then boot into system and install the Magisk Manager app(if it dosen't get installed when you flash the Magisk.zip).
Unfortunately not working.
I installed Magisk via Odin wirh a Magisk-patched stock rom ( Galaxy A10). WORKED
Then installed TWRP via Odin and got TWRP and Magisk working by immediately booting into recovery after flashing.
But then I installed the CrDroid custom rom via TWRP and now Magisk is gone.
