I have the same problem. I tried with POCO X3 - cant connect, then with Redmi Note 9 Pro and it works with no problem. So it seems that this is an issue with the phone. Also as we can see here, more people have problem with this.
This sucks as I used it a lot and wanted to continue using it.... I am on miui.eu
I can see the TV in the list on poco but when I try to connect - it dissapears.
mine works fine (samsung tv)

Mine is working fine with casting as well. Samsung tv. I'm on latest stock miui global rom.

I've used this app Smart IR Remote on my phone to control different TV's, fans, A/C's without an issue.
Are you getting any error messages? Anything else we can use or know to help figure out your issue?

No errors & I just tried that and no luck. It's a Vizio TV which I'm testing on. I've tried on another Vizio TV and a Samsung one with no luck too. I know it works or at least worked on the Samsung TV but now it's not working at all on my Vizio TV and I doubt even the Samsung one. (havent tried samsung again yet) Also I put my S4 and M8 beside each other and tried using the same app to turn on my TV and where the M8 failed multiple times the S4 turned it on within half a second first try. I even took off my Otterbox case to try and see if it was somehow blocking it and it still wouldn't work. Could this be some sort of hardware problem or could it be software?

From what I've read, the IR port is the power button too. So make sure you are pointing that end at the tv. That Otterbox is quite bulky, so make sure the power button area flap is up while trying remotes out.
I don't think it would be a hardware issue if you are able to use the stock tv app to control the tv.
What ROM are you using?

I know and I did, still wouldn't work. I'm also having an issue getting 4G in areas where my friends can get it and their using Verizon too so maybe i have some type of firmware issue and I need to flash a stock RUU as suggested in my thread about that. I'll edit this or post again with the results whenever I try it.

Oops, I didn't see that you had a custom Rom. I'm guessing software issue now.
I'm also facing the same issue with Sprint m8, but my wife verizon m8 works with other apps too , I'm on stock ruu , not rooted, no s off , basically I'm on lollipop without any modification .

So I tried to mirror Galaxy S6 to Samsung ue48h6400 and I got this error in my phone "Unable to connect to screen mirroring due to hardware issue".
Is there any fix for this? I heard this is due to rooting. Maybe there's some third-party app that is able to mirror my device to TV? I'm sure unrooting would fix it, but I don't want to do it.
Any thoughts?
Bump
Am I the only one having this? Has someone else fixed it?

Hi,
MHL and Screen Mirroring are not supported on the S6. I've been trying for days to figure a viable workaround. So far all I can find is the samsung all share smart hub or chromcast.

I don't understand how Screen mirroring is not supported when you have option for it. Do you think it's fixable with the updates?
just tried with my philips TV everything working great.
i have S6+root.

WiFi on----> screen mirroring on----> wait until it find my Philips TV WiFi connection---> hit "Phillips TV-WiFi" in screen mirroring menu---> accept connection on my Philips TV.
that's all.
I also have this issue with my Galaxy S6 connecting to my Samsung 50" Led smart TV. It worked before I rooted, but will not work since root
Ordered a new Roku stick and realized that the LG V10 will not allow me to mirror my phone to my TV. Do I need to get a chromecast or is there a way to get around this issue?
Roku apparently wont mirror with Android deviced on 4.0 or later. Come on...
I used to cast to my SmartTV all the time before my V10 bootlooped. There seems to be no first-party way to do it, but I just downloaded Miracast and streamed to my SmartTV (and my parent's Roku) just fine.

Kind of late to this since I'm looking around this forum. Did you ever get this resolved? I have always been able to stream directly by enabling Miracast in the LG Share & Connect setting.

Yes, when I receive an update always reset the phone.... but with no solution....
Thanks
This is happening since the first day and even after resetting it didn't work. Don't you think it's a hardware issue? If it is then you should visit Huawei, they will fix the issue if you have warranty.

I just got a Pixel, and I'm ready to sell it if no roms support Miracast. Chromecast is not an option - I need a phone that works with the Miracast standard. I have tried to mirror to a LG TV as well as trying two Miracast adapters (Microsoft and generic models). None have worked.
On both the Nougat and Oreo factory images, Rooting and editing build.prop did not work. The adapters/TV are visible, but the connection always fails.
Before the phone goes on Swappa, has anyone had success using Miracast with any rom. I searched, but the only results are those of people asking the same question as me.
Thanks for any info...

Seems like I researched this in the past, but came to the same conclusion; that it was not possible. I tried for a while and just wouldn't connect. Sorry Boss

I have great news - I was able to get Miracast screen mirroring to work using the CRDroid rom (https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel/development/rom-crdroidv3-2-t3607271?nocache=1). You still need to edit build.prop (add the line persist.debug.wfd.enable=1) and turn on wifi. After reboot, the phone immediately found the TV / adapter, and connected. I was able to mirror my screen, view pics, and a video. Another plus is that this particular rom is incredibly smooth and fast - even more than stock Oreo.
I'm glad I don't have to sell the phone now. Hope this info helps others with this question.

I just got the Pixel 2 XL, but same issue. Have not rooted my phone yet, or any phone actually, but I am willing if this will allow Miracast. Do you think it should work for me? Wifi is not an option so Chromecast is out and Pixel/Pixel 2 don't support hardwired options. What do you think?

This is great news! I always had thought it was hardware driven, but fantastic to hear that software was able to enable it. I wonder if @BeansTown106 knows about it? I believe he is currently compiling the next PureNexus Rom based on Oreo 8.0. Would LOVE to see this feature added in the next revision.

I just got Miracast working with "crDroidAndroid-8.1-20180405-marlin-v4.1" for the Pixel XL. I just went into settings - connected devices - cast - then hit the three dots in the upper right hand corner to 'enable cast'. then on my Fire Stick I started device mirroring. Bingo! Fire Stick shows up as connected. Works with VLC and Youtube testing so far. Sound and video. Rotation of phone to horizontal creates full screen (55" TV) mode. I have magisk 16* installed but there are no settings I used in that app for this to work, just wanted it noted as it is the only none stock app installed so far.
Linuxmon
UPDATE: Didn't notice I was in Pixel not Pixel XL forum. Hopefully sailfish works as well.
Web video caster works well for me on all ROMs and I'm using firehound ROM atm, just make sure you turn battery optimisation off for this app and adjust your setting's to your needs. I've tried many casting apps and this one seems to be the most stable best one I've found. See below where you may need to tick boxes to suit your TV/miracast needs. Also make sure you have no other apps running, only this one and that your on same WiFi network too as well other device on same network. Hope this helps
