No matter what camera app I downloaded I couldn't get good pictures out my original Motorola Droid. But the same apps gave great results on HTC Incredible S.
Clearly its a matter of which phone with how good a sensor.

1. HTC Sense 3.5 camera (Custom ROM by NIK :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312021 for HTC Incredible S - Ironically my first choice is an in-built app and not from Google Play Store)
2. Camera Zoom fx
3. Instagram
Camera 360 is pretty nice in my opinion.

Camera Zoom FX is a great choice
I also use HDR Camera for HDR shots or Camera360 as it offers lots of options as well
the best for me are both Instagram and HDR Camera+
Has anyone tried 'Camera ICS ' ? Lots of people on the forums mentioned this. It worked great for a while but then started force closing on my HTC Incredible S.
This app, when it was working, was definitely faster in focussing than the stock cam.
i think that camera zoom fx is the best app on play.
but cyanogenmod app je really great too.
Can someone mention a good camera app replacement for xperia e cm10
i know there is video bug but some third party app can record without problems
all playstore apps suck bigtime ,the only proper one i found was
focal (which shows full purple color all the time)
and
snap camera (which has its own gallery app and saves photos twice )
i also tried motorola camera app which had video problems before and had issues with screen size
i want to know if there is a stock app which can save photos on ext.card

There are diferrent,modified lg camera apk. One can be downloaded from google play store.

it took one good photo and gave"couldnt connect to camera"
it only happens when i check a photo in gallery and return to app.....app closes
CM10 rom problem not a single camera video works ....

Yes RAW is fully possible with apps from the play store like A Better Camera, Manual Camera, Camera FV-5 and Proshot some are paid apps but A Better Camera is free just make sure to check in setting to enable camera 2 API all those app support camera 2 API which our beloved g flex 2 fully supports and best of all no rooting or modding is required hope this answers your question

I have been trying lots of camera apps but all of then kind of suck, what do you guys recommend?
i recommend (and use) both the motorola camera and OpenCamera.
Cyanogen snap camera and for selfies youcamperfect works for me
Just try ported camera from meizu OS. its so fast, best camera so far on Moto G.. search on themes & apps section as "better camera for MOTO G"
