First of all what flip lock wallet case is it? Just telling that won't help you anywhere.
Because of 1. We don't know brand of it. 2.you giving to poor info.

A wallet case is simply that. A case with a front that closes. As opposed to a rear cover.
The case manufacturer does not really have a bearing. The process of the screen going off and locking when the case is closed is the issue

The screen won't go on or off like it used since the s10 days, samsung introduced a new type of proximity sensor.
Similarly to how the AOD doesn't go off anymore when you close the flip case.is this what you're talking about ? If not , then it's also related to what I just mentioned.

Yes it is . I've come back to Samsung after a very long time, the last model I had was S8 Edge. So I'm playing catch up. I've found a work around using 3rd party apps

Good to hear. Welcome aboard.
In the past AOD would go off when case was closed.

I love my original s-View cover but it interferes my s4 compass especially with the cover is folded to the back of the phone. I can clearly see how the cover changes the direction of the Google Map compass while flipping the cover.

That's because there's a magnet in it to activate the hal sensor to tell the screen to go to s-veiw window
If you take a magnet and put it where the sensor is on the phone with the s-veiw cover open your screen will change like if the cover is closed

If the S-View covers work with the aid of a magnet, how does this one work?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281100942769
As I understand, no magnets here and yet they claim it has all S-View abilities!
PS ... anyone bought this cover? If yes, is this latched on to the built in battery cover or does it reduce bulk by replacing the battery cover?
Thanks

Got to have a magnet to trigger the S4 S-View mode on the display. Doesn't say it's got a magnet in the listing, then again doesn't say it hasn't.... Looks like it's got kind of a tpu case which snaps round the phone and the cover is glued onto that.

I have this cover. It does not replace the battery cover, but fits over it. However, the "leather" is very thin, so the case doesn't really add much bulk. The s-view function works perfectly. However, I won't continue to use this case once a better s-view case comes out. The part that holds the phone in the case doesn't cover the corners of the phone, so they are vulnerable if the phone is dropped. And, the front of the case could easily open if the phone is dropped, so there is no protection for the front of the phone, either. I really prefer flip cases, because I ruined an expensive phone by dropping it, so I want something that protects the phone. I really like the s-view option, but this isn't the case for me.
I got a cheap copy of the S-View which fits perfectly and works just as good. Unfortunately it seems the magnet is too strong because the S-View mode activates when I fold the cover around the back!
Is there any way to fix this?
Yeah do what I did, take it off, throw it into the corner in disgust, and put a tpu flip case on instead.

Dude, do you have a link to the one you bought - does it work just like the S-View?
I have the cover from Tridea. Got it yesterday.
It is actually quite nice and protects the phone better than the original S-view case. However, this is magnetic too and makes the compass more or less unusable.

I'm wondering this too. I paid $7, versus $60, so I can't complain, but I would LOVE to find out that the authentic ones actually fix this critical issue.
Why not buy an original one, guaranteed to work. I have had mine since day one and works great, even when flipped back. I can post a video. If need be.

If you open a compass app, does it point to the right directions (south, north etc) even when you slowly rotate the phone horizontally?

Maybe it is different for you, but the compass on the S4 sucks with or without the S-Cover. It constantly need recalibrating on many of these phones.

I agree. What is the reason for this though? Is it a software problem that could be fixed with an update, or a hardware problem which is pretty much permanent?
My S4 S-View (original) cover definitely interferes with compass readings. As this is an original Samsung case I find this quite incredible how this has been overlooked.
With the case on and open, my compass app would always point in the same direction.
Gradual movement of the front cover from the open to closed position would quickly alter the compass bearing etc.
I decided to ditch the S-View cover for the standard one for the following reasons:
1. Affects compass bearings as described
2. Unable to see notification LED when the cover is closed. (it is in fact not enabled at all when its closed)
3. I'd rather see my full screen caller ID on an incoming call than the small S-View window. I know if you open the case you will then see the caller ID screen, but I'd prefer to see it from the offset.
Only drawback now is that I hate leaving the screen uncovered so I've put a screen protector on, and I can never get to fit one perfectly...I always seem to get one or two specs of dust that cause bubbles.

I am guessing it is a hardware issue because several people have the problem (there is a thread in the "general" section about it) and it doesn't seem to matter which app or APK is used with it, it has the same issues and needs to be recalibrated periodically to work properly.

Well, it's tough to purchase a legit one sometimes, and knowing IF that design flaw doesn't exist in an authentic version would make it worth it.
Edit:
Fixed it myself. I pried open the fabric, took out the magnet, put a nail between the magnet and the hammer to shatter it, and put back half a disc. Works perfectly.
I have the original S-view cover and if I slowly open or close the cover over the phone, the compass changes values, and I even got a notification in compass app regarding the magnetic field while playing with the cover.
Is there any way to repair this behavior while keeping the S-view functionality?
So I just received a dimple.io full size for Xmas and I'm loving it so far. Currently I have the buttons programmed to open chrome, open textra and media pause play and next. I got the black one to match the back of my black back and I've been using them very often. They're set up horizontally centered under the moto dimple. The next step is to play with IFTT (tasker) and add some real functionality to my 7 hardware button mxpe. I just love the idea of adding buttons to a phone! I have dimples that actually do things!

Unfortunately the nfc lockscreen off enabler xposed module seems to be broken in marshmallow, I'm eagerly awaiting a fix so I can use the dimples when the phone is locked.
Could you post some pictures? I'd love to see how they fit under the camera. I have a case that leaves that part of the phone exposed, and I might buy one if I can fit it there.
Sorry for the quality it was taken with my z2 tablet
Nice! Thanks for the photos.
Do you think this would work with a case?
As cool as it sounds it just makes the phone look uglier (just my opinion)

As long as its not too thick that it interferes with nfc. Try using nfc with the case on first.
one could buy a cheapo tpu case and make a cut out for the dimples so the don't protrude as much. could be pretty sweet.
IMHO really overpriced for what it is.

This never worked on the 1575, even on the original Lollipop stock.
Smartlock however can be set to unlock with nfc tags, but doesn't work from screen off.

Nope
Seriously takes away from the appealing look of the phone. Would love to know if it works through a case directly though (without cutting it), I think there might be a few interesting ways to disguise it then. Thanks!
I have since moved it to the front of my z2 tablet. The functionality is more useful on a tablet IMO. The adhesive held up nicely as well.
Wife picked up note 9 and wants to have the sleep/wake function of a flip case we had way back with note 3 or 4.
Guy in best buy yesterday said they don't make them anymore. Not even Samsung. Has this feature been removed from the device? Or is there a case out there that still does this?
Something like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8sWs4UpVcs
or
https://www.amazon.com/Annymall-Tra...903704&sr=1-3&keywords=note+9+flip+wake+cover
Lol. So the guy at best buy knew nothing and the Samsung cover does have this feature? Sounded wrong when he said it. My Amazon searching only found cases that said no auto wake. Maybe I used the wrong search terms.
Thanks
Yes the samsung flip cover does it. I have it and I rotate it in with a few other cases depending on location and mood.

Is it dependant on a small magnet being located at the bottom left corner of the front cover? I remember that's how the older cases that featured the wake function were set up.
There is one on the Samsung flip so probably true still.
I just got my S10+ and installed this and the fingerprint sensor barely works with the screen protector. I would not recommend buying this at all. I'm about to take mine off and ask for a refund.

I just installed mine yesterday I actually had it able to read my prints after installing it. I did add 4 prints index, left thumb and 2 right thumb when I got the phone on wed. I have had about 4 domes on my s8+ and installed it on friends phones so I was comfortable with the process.
Can someone check their s10+ with the UV light and tell me if their screen looks like this. This is without any protector on.? Just want to see if this is normal. It's like a rectangular box on the screen. This can only be seen under uv only.

Hellboy, there is a demon living in your phone.
Whitestone dome doesn't work for me either.
The whitestone dome glass doesn't work well for me either, my finger print hits are less than 50%, sometimes as long as 10%. It is really frustrating. I've done everything to make this work, including re-registering prints, enabling touch sensitivity and obtaining all the software updates. The company is also incredibly hard to get a hold of.
I found this on yt and it did work for me
I did the registration of my thumbs 2x per thumb BEFORE THE INSTALLATION and it works PERFECTLY, I did NOT register my fingerprint after the installation.
Hope this helps someone!!!

Yes, I want to try that but I would need a new tempered glass, removing the old one to reapply after a week doesn't seem like a good idea (dust sticking to the bottom of the tempered glass that will now be full of LOCA glue). If whitestone sends a new kit/glass then I'm willing to give them a try again.
Just to caveat that press down on the finger print sensor is new instructions that was not in the original instructions when I bought the kit.

You're correct. Those instructions were not in the box.
I bought the 2 pack from Amazon and they will replace mines so I'm good. But the 1 that I have on now is good to go!
Also, the have a guaranteed on their screens, I think is something along the $10 for a new screen with proof of purchased

I've had my previous glass replaced by them on my Note 9 due to an error on my part.. They were pretty quick about their response. I did have to pay shipping. However, I've emailed twice about the S10+ and the FPS and I haven't heard anything back yet either.
For 50, its a ripoff. Just get a good case and a wet install and be careful.

Has anyone tried the method of pressing down the fingerprint area after the 15 sec UV flash? Has it made a difference? I don't want to remove the existing one if it's not going to get any better.
I wonder how the phone senses that the camera locking switch is on. Does anyone know how it works? Also, can we expect similar active cases from third parties (or maybe by Asus with different designs)? What do you think?
