Hi all,
Just bought my Galaxy Note 8" WiFi model GT-N5110 and planning to buy a 32GB micro SD card to use with it.
What are your recommendations? Is it worth to use a class 10 card? I'm planning to buy a sandisk ultra, but before I wish to hear your opinion.
Thanks guys!

I use a sandisk Ultra 64gb, class 10, not the UHS-1 model, the one that came before that one, i got an UHS-1 on my galaxy S4, and both perform the same, you should get the UHS-1, since now is the cheapest model, since the expensive one are the golden extreme version.
Get this one, but in 32GB if you want:

Thank you very much for the tip! I just bought a 32GB Ultra, since here in Brazil the 64GB still is very expensive.

This was the biggest sell for me. I bought a Sandisk 64 GB class 10 SD card and put about 40 movies on it and my books and i am all set for long trips. None of the ipads have the feature.
Sandisk UHS-1
Yes, i also buy sandisk uhs 1 with 32GB. So far so good, never had read and write problem. Watching movies without glitch. But now, its almost full. Better buy 64Gb if you have the money.
So basically we have two front runners in fastest MicroSD card out there:
Sandisk extreme pro 8/16/32/64gb vs Samsung pro 8/16/32/64gb, both are class 10.
The minutia of difference in speed any which way isn't really of consequence but the compatibility with GN3.
I would very much appreciate feedbacks from folks who are currently using and/or have history about the two models above..
Can anyone confirm if NOTE 3 only supports microSDHC or can it be paired with with microSDXC as well.
Using Samsung Pro 64gb microSDXC here. No Problems.

Sandisk extreme pro doesn't exist! Do you mean Extreme Plus?

The microSDXC work just fine but the maximum speed is not reached. From what I have seen the limit (so far!) on Note 3 is around 18-20 Mb/s.
Hey guys, My wife and I will be getting the Note4, what SD card is recommended? I don't know if we're going with a 64 or a 128 just wondering about quality and SD vs SDXC. thanks..

My Thoughts
I was contemplating the 128 but i don't think i'll ever use it, and im a music and movie junkie, but i don't keep movies (or tv shows) on my phone after i watched them, so i went with a 64gig sandisk mobile ultra. I also don't believe the phones can take full use of the higher transfer rates of some cards (48mb/s+ cards) so i went with this guy here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JAKH0F4
its Amazon Prime Eligible and comes with the adapter and usb reader.
I'm sure others will post their thoughts as well
Goodluck

Bingo! This card rocks and priced right!

These phones won't take advantage of the higher speeds of the Extremes and Pros unless you're removing the card from your phone and plugging it into a USB 3.0 card reader each time. So The 48MB/s Ultras and Evos are good enough.

Samsung 64gb Evo
yeah, like he said, if you are only using the card in your phone, get this guy for less than 40 bucks!
Just picked up one of these
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Elect...412429044&sr=1-6&keywords=64+gb+micro+sd+card
Got good reviews and has the bandwidth for 4K. The Note 4 will be my first 4K device so I wanted to make sure I had a good card to go with it. Dont need 128 GB (yet) personally as I stream pandora for my music. I am sure the sandisk cards would have been just fine as well.
I have the 128GB microSD card and it's great! Super fast, and stupid high capacity. But with picture and video file sizes getting bigger and bigger, and phones doing more and more, I believe that the space will come in handy. I've currently got LOTS of HD movies on it in the Note 3... but if I need the space on the Note 4 I can easily delete them.
hi,
I need to ask what you thin about this SD : SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra Micro SD (SDXC) Card - Class 10 UHS-1
I had this about a year and would be good for note 4 and QHD video? or which speed is good for note 4 to be great for video camera?
thanks

Really makes no difference since the phone does not support the UHS-I speeds. The SanDisk Ultra would be as good as a more expensive ones.
sanddisk and Samsung are both highly rated as very good quality. You can't go wrong with either. I suggest which ever one on sale or cheaper that's the way to go.
great guys thanks, I was scared to buy new one card.
Im getting this..
Samsung Electronics 64GB PRO Micro SDXC with Adapter Upto 90MB/s Class 10 Memory Card (MB-MG64DA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IVPU88U/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_kLSmub1MQDR6P
Grabbed this one for $80 during the sale in the morning.
http://www.amazon.com/Lexar-High-Performance-microSDHC-Memory-LSDMI128BBNL633R/dp/B00O1M21H8
Decided to go with it since Lexar (micron/crucial) makes the best chips and the warranty is better than the one provided by Samsung and SanDisk. But most importantly, it's faster than the current SanDisk.
I wish there was an option to up the voltage to the SD card readers in Samsung phones. I get that they lower the power for battery life and heat, buy I also want to get decent transfer speeds with my phone. No real point in getting an SD card above 48MB/s for phone use only as the required voltage for UHS-1 is not available. I do believe that all Snapdragons since the 600 support UHS-1 though. Too bad.
i'm curious about the 128 gb max storage on specification, does that mean phone+ micro sd = 128 max or 128gb micro sd+ phone internal storage?

128gb max is the microsdxc alone (but that's only because there aren't any 256GB microsdxc cards on the market)
it's 128gb + 32gb
Running SanDisk ultra sdxc 128GB in my GN3 and mt Go Pro Hero3 black .
Like computers, our devices tested/rated for what memory is currently available when the device is released.
For example GN3 is rated for 64GB sdxc, but 128GB works fine.
For what was initially stated in the OP.
The variants of "sd" are based on capacity. With few exceptions to some 4gb mSD cards, sdhc is 4gb-32gb , and sdxc is 64+GB for meow. Until something greater than 128GB is released, which may or may not be sdxc or variant of.
Whats the max speed can the note 4 read on sd card? Same as note 3 and other recents samsung phones?
+1^100000000
THIS IS THE BEST CARD OUT PERIOD.
If you want the best, here you go:
Samsung Electronics 64GB PRO Micro SDXC with Adapter Upto 90MB/s Class 10 Memory Card (MB-MG64DA/AM)
For the cost of your kidney you can also opt for: Lexar High-Performance microSDHC 633x 128GB UHS-I Flash Memory Card LSDMI128BBNL633R
(However, I'd wait for Samsung's 128GB PRO ....one things for sure, you can count on it in every way.)
SanDisk is garbage...never again. The integrity of the cards have tanked over the years.
Go Samsung....

Lexar is every bit as good as Samsung if not better. they're owned by Micron/Crucial and are known in the photography and computer sphere for making the best chips out there, but I guess their stuff is marketed as more high brow so the average consumer isn't acquainted with the brand. Note that the Lexar cards have lifetime warranties for a reason.
do people have any of these cards already? if yes, which ones?

I have a Lexar 633x MicroSDXC and I feel good
I bought the Sandisk 128 the day it came out. The price has been cut in half ever since to about $50-$60 which indicates newer versions (ie pro or extreme) or higher capacities will be released. I haven't had any issues with them and am content with read write speeds. I would however recommend the extreme or pros if you plan to do a lot of 4K video recording.
Thanks to both of you. I may do a one minute 4k recording cause it's there but otherwise it's a useless feature for me. won't use it.
Get the Samsung Pro or Sandisk Extreme, you will not have any issues with performance, when I was previously doing bench marks almost two years ago the Sandisk was twice as fast, might have changed a little now.

Buy the cheapest
No but really, Sandisk Extreme Plus and the Samsung EVO Plus seem to work well, they have high read speeds and somewhat good write speeds. I bought the Sandisk Extreme Plus on black friday for $40 and after having it for a month, it works pretty good (copying photos or videos is relatively quick). I copied a 1.9GB video to it and it took about 2 minutes (15.69 MB/s was the transfer speed).
TRANSCEND microSDXC UHS-I Class 10 - TS128GUSDU1
I got the Samsung 128gb evo+ pro, if you're going for a lot of data then you shouldn't go cheap on the writing speed. Never doing that again. I already have it 3/4th filled and it's still going great.
However, now, those 128GB card with 90MB/s label, only read on 90MB/s. The writing speed is only 20~30MB/s.
I use Lexar 633x too.

and you have no problem such as data loss or partial reading, because in the specifications it says that it reads up to 256 gb, while in some samsung with lower characteristics it reads up to 512gb, in the past I had a redmi note 2 in which i had to install a script to make it read a 128gb one, here i don't need it?
