Is possible to change from EEA rom to GLOBAL without unlocking bootloader? - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Questions & Ans

as the title says, i want to test the global beta A11, but i am in the EEA rom, I am on south america, the EEA rom is for EU region.
Do I need to unlock the bootloader to change to global rom? If not, how do I do that?

Just wait a few more days, A11 update as been removed by miui because of a lot of bugs, so my advice is just wait a few more days, maybe next week will be available by OTA

I know, but is known that EEA didn't receive the betas.
even if I didn't update to A11 is possible to go from EEA to global rom without the unlock bootloader thing? just curious, because is a official XIAOMI rom.

I think so, I'm not sure, but you can try if it works.
First download latest global ROM, it's 12.0.4
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/lmi/stable/V12.0.4.0.QJKMIXM/
Put ROM in your phone on folder "downloaded_rom"
Go to setting's/about phone/ROM version (were you search for updates)
In here press the 3 dots at top right, if you see option to "choose update package" press it and choose your downloaded ROM
If you don't have the option mentioned above, just press on the 12 logo to activate update functions.
If the update is successful you should be on global after the reboot.

probably will brick the phone, the author of the post says that cannot change the region of the firmware with this procedure. Maybe it will give a error before install like the users said in the comments.

About Widevine profiles and Global/CN versions of 5G model

Hi, I'm looking for a new phone and I've been searching for one that supports root (Magisk, unlocked bootloader) while keeping Widevine L1 .
I've read the Xiaomi 10 Pro can do that, but I have a few questions:
1. Does this happens only with the chinese version, or with the global version as well?
2. Does this work on the Mi 10 Pro 5G?
3. Does this work with any ROM, or xiaomi.eu only?
4. A little off-topic here, any other (non xiaomi) phone that can achieve this?
Thanks!
I have ch rom with magisk and I have widevine 1
Global version of the phone, or chinese version? I'm talking about HW not SW.

both china and global have L1, but be careful if you play around with things like persist partition you may break it. there are some people on xiaomi eu forum that managed to do that
I guess installing only xiaomi.eu ROM will do no harm hehe.

nope eu is awesome
just don't forget to "format data" (not factory reset or wipe) the first time you install twrp before flashing eu or it won't boot. there is also a stable eu miui 12 version available for mi 10 pro.
And about L1, is it possible to keep it with root on any ROM, or only xiaomi.eu ones?

I don't use 5G myself the option for it is in the settings (enable 5G and prefer 5G) and I cannot find anyone complaining on eu forums about mi 10. All I could find is a couple of people saying it doesn't work on K30 and an old post saying the bug is fixed in January for mi 9 pro. if it's broken on eu at least no one cared enough to make a bug report for it.

Whats the best rom to get tmobile 5g working? It works for me on the china rom, but EU and global it's a no go for some reason
It's weird that eu rom breaks your 5G, as it is based on the china ROM if I'm not mistaken. Try and post on their forums, maybe is a carrier specific issue?
5G works for me on eu rom but just on sim2. You have to buy sim tray with 2 sim slots and put your card in sim2 slot.

If you wanna stay on stock ROM, just use MiFlash (check the "clean all" option on the bottom) and fastboot ROM for Global version you wanna use. You don't need custom recovery.

Please note MIUI.EU and EU region firmware is difference. MIUI.EU based in global firmware code MI. EU region is EEA with EU firmware code. don't get it wrong.
1. Miui.eu is better for me with less bloatware and still keep miui feature. Use since mi 6x and old poco f1.
2. Indonesian language include in miui.eu
If you want try it UBL and flash global first with MI code firmware last version. Step in Miui.eu rom thread.

sure :good:
You can but it's not recommended. Different rom regions use different persist.img (use a hex editor to read it). A different persist.img has different data offsets and it can mess with things like Mi account, compass and different sensors, activation data etc.
Le:fastboot won't flash persist.img even if it's present in the ROM folder. You can flash persist.img from twrp but again, not recommended to flash another version of it.

So, you will try to flash global ROM after getting bootloader unlocked?
My main issue now in 12.0.1 is the dynamic refresh rate or something like that makes gaming experience like a crap as hell even if i stay in fixed 60Hz refresh rate

Yep, ive done so recently. Unlocking bootloader and installing the global rom... It was pretty straight forward but I ran into a lot of problems thanks to windows with my ADB drivers and miflash works. If u run into errors there's heaps of good guides on youtube you can look at based on your error type.

Afterwards you can but without being able to lock the bootloader, which means that the play store will not be certified and you will have to root the phone and use magisk or a Xiaomi Eu rom.

Can be tried a Weekly by updating (to return after a stable, clean flash required).
