Custom ROM for GM1913 - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I have an unbranded OP7P GM1913 on 10.0.5.GM21BA with NoLimits 10.2 debloat
The battery life (standby) is unsatisfactory. I basically never use the phone so its always on standby at home, but the standby drain is bad. I charge it to 70% at night and i come back from work on the next day its nearly down to 50%. I barely have anything installed. Aeroplane mode turned on. Wifi, bluetooth, and nfc turned off. I have not even given it a sim card or cell service. (its basically my spare phone) I bought it in August and its practically new. I use Battery Charge Limit and take care of the battery like a baby, never letting it drop below 40% or exceed 70%. I have not played any games on it.
So I'd like to install a custom rom that has great standby battery time. I do not need any performance boost or fancy features. Just clean and lean. I am avoiding stock rom because I dont trust the background telemetry, and all the serious debloat guides/mods are either outdated or shifted focus to newer Oneplus models.
Hope I can get some constructive replies
Thanks

Hi
CRDroid works correctly. I'm using the 7.0 version under A 11. You can try the 6.0 to begin.

Battery Drain Fix

Noticing your Galaxy S6 battery is draining too fast? This thread can help.
Part of the problem lies within a memory leak which is a known problem that Samsung is aware of and is reportedly patching in an upcoming update.
The other issue is Samsung attempts to load everything into memory and run several services in the background as well as hard loading the phone with bloatware.
Here is how I gained 30% better battery performance. Guaranteed
*Prerequisites
*Need to be rooted for every tip to work.
1. Disable anything you consider bloatware
2. Go to settings then application manager and disable both ANT radio service apps. You don't need this. Causes massive battery drain. Google it if you don't believe me.
3. Go to the app store and download "Servicely" from Franco. Paid app but worth the money...trust me. (Need root)
4. Once in servicely add running services and apps to your hit list, choose start at boot and run hit list while screen is off.
5. Reboot your phone. Give your phone a full charge and see the difference
Attached is a screenshot of realistic usage. I was on a poor lte signal for 9 hours and conducted several calls and used my phone moderately heavy. As you can see i got through my entire work day and still have 6 hours left at moderately heavy use.
Remember, this is realistic. I could have shown you a screenshot showing 18 hours left after only using it 1 hour. What I'm showing is a legit 9 hours of usage. Before I made these tweaks I would be at 10% battery or less after nine hours of the same usage.
Post your screenshots after 24-48 hours and let's see how much you are saving.

Do you have a VZW Galaxy S6?? or are you using a TMobile one?
Without doing most of what you have on the list:
Didn't load Servicely
Did not turning off ANT which is a low power service used by heart monitors and other physical monitors
Did already disabled the apps I don't use and
did the deal with the google services/play but not much other than that.
I don't play games on my phone, but I do use it for business, calls, lots of messaging and keep WiFi on most of the time except when I am between locations when I turn it off. I only use BT when driving and keep it off normally.
All of which can be done without root, though I have rooted my phone.
YMMV but a lot has to do with what apps you do use, what you actually turn off etc...

Yes I have VZW. Use your phone for a few days and you will start to see battery drain due to the memory leak primarily and your load of apps

I've had my phone for 10 days now. Rooted the first day, loaded my apps and configured that day and sunday so it was work ready on Monday. Ported my number over Monday morning. Pretty much the same for the past 7 days now since then.

I would recommend that you clear your cache in recovery. Based on the ss you posted your standby drain is high. Check the battery thread or pm me if you have questions

Its kind of like who cares?
There are 24 hours in a day and I sleep at least 7 hours of that. The screen shot shows it is 6 in the evening, the phone has been on for just under 11 hours and it still 53% full with an estimated 12 hours left. Even if I am up for say another 5 hours or so, I will still have another 4-5 hours worth of power easily and since I sleep with my phone on a charger every night I won't run out.
On top of that I have AC powered chargers all over the place, in my home office, by my recliner in the living room, in my office at work and even in my truck where I have a two port USB charger with 2A each which is better than some AC chargers. That is in case I really start using battery power for some reason and need to recharge sooner than once a day. All of which was purchased when I had my Note 3.
The costs to get into this phone has been one of the lowest of any phone I have ever purchased since it uses the same chargers, same apps etc. The only thing I bought was a light case as it is slippery without one and I picked up a $12.88 QI charger to use at work.
The phone already gets better battery usage than my previous Note 3 with a larger battery in it.
Stand by drain is high.... s not really relevant.

Let's stay on original topic and let's share ideas and be kind to one another. No need to be adversarial. Let's just offer up some cool tips.

What is your battery life experience?

This is the second full day of usage that I am getting out of my Pixel 2 and the first day of moderate-to-heavy usage. The previous day I was at home, so I did not use it as much and I noticed that the battery life was not too bad. But given that I did not use it intensely, I cannot tell for sure. But today, I noticed significant drain in the battery during my morning commute. As an example, my battery went from 79% to 76-75% in a matter of minutes (about 10 minutes). This was very concerning and made me feel like the battery performance was not really much better than my nearly 2 year old Nexus 5X whose battery has noticeably depleted in capacity.
I don't know if this battery drain has anything to do with poor cellular network connection during my commute as it completely cuts off in many places, so may be I am draining more battery trying to connect to a network. Or may be it is due to using bluetooth earphones. But I want to get a sense of what others are noticing and how I can more carefully test the battery performance to get a clearer understanding about its performance.
Never judge battery life from a single day or two of usage. You'll need at least a week to see if the battery performance remains consistent.
Much better than my iPhone 7 that I switched from. Can't ask for much more than that. (never should have jumped to iphone 6 in the first place)
I certainly get much more battery out of my Xiaomi Mi A1 with Android One (Oreo).
Though 4-6 SOT hours in the Pixel 2 are not that bad, it feels like not enough in comparison to 6-9 SOT hours I get with my other smartphone.

I get at least a full day if I leave for work fully charged. Much better than iPhone. The best I ever got was 21.5 hours but that was only after having it a week.

Xiaomi Mi A1, comes with built-in Android stock, dual camera...bang for the buck right now, costs like 150-200$. You can check it out on xda, its battery numbers are impressive.
And installing Google Cam makes it perform great even in lowlight conditions, perhaps not very far from Pixel 2...
Enviado desde mi Pixel 2 mediante Tapatalk
I'm getting hardly 5-6 hours of SOT with medium to heavy usage. Battery capacity could've been bigger!
I'm not even getting 2 Hrs of SOT. I've had my Pixel 2 XL for a week now and the battery performance is abysmal. I have the screen brightness set to less than 50% and the phone is not modded or anything out of the ordinary like that. Thinking of formatting and setting up the phone again. This is so annoying.
Pretty crappy IMO. I can get a full workday but thats at min-med use.

What does "min-med" use actually mean? SOT is a flawed metric, but at least gives some standard of reference (though as people use different brightness settings, do different things with their screen on time, have different signal conditions, it's still not easy to meaningfully compare).
FWIW the one time I didn't charge mine overnight it ran for 41 hours, > 6 hours SOT, still 7% left. Of course I'm not playing online games on LTE at full brightness, and I'm sure it wouldn't last close to that if I were, but for my use (as a PDA, phone, browser, a bit of audio streaming and a bit of light gaming) it will reliably last a full day (not workday) with charge to spare. I don't see this phone's battery as a problem at all.
Alright, I gave this a few more days of usage. I am getting around 3.5ish hours of SOT with 30% battery left. Sometimes less, but around the same ballpark. I think I can safely say that this is significantly more battery than my old Nexus 5X, which I had to constantly charge throughout the day and still have issues with depleted battery by the time I reach home. So that's good!
For me the battery life is super, I didn't get such stats with my old OnePlus 3.

Poor reception is a HUGE drain on battery. Specifically, modems will try to search for service more agressively when they start nearing their poor signal thresholds. I have a friend who lives in an area that has just enough cell signal to destroy my battery! I always have to put my phone in mode when I'm at her house to save battery!
My battery life on my Pixel 2 is horrible. All radios off, full charge this morning, phone is completely wiped as I am selling it and its down 35% by doing nothing. No wifi, no sim, no apps, just on. Its garbage. That and the stiff buttons is a quick sell-off to me. Its a work phone so I dont really care. Having a much better experience with my moto Z2 play that i now use as a work phone (personal phone is a Note 8).

Sounds like a warranty issue. Did you try getting it fixed?
And how can you sell a phone that belongs to your employer?

Fast battery drain on the Mi5s occurs when the fingerprint reader is active. Disable it by removing any fingerprints registered in the security setup (in other words, don't use your fingerprint reader option) and reboot. You will notice the phone runs much cooler and the battery lasts much much longer. To permanently resolve the issue and regain use of the fingerprint reader, you must root the phone or find some other way of disabling com.qualcomm.qti.biometric.fingerprint.service.
Until about four days ago, I would never consider taking my Mi5s out of the house because it was useless unless I wanted to drag a power bank with me. A comment by someone got me motivated to dig into this issue and I found other people at xiaomi.eu reporting the basics as I've stated above. Yesterday I removed fingerprints, fully charged the phone and today I have 50% battery left and a cool running phone. Normally, it would be less than 20 % after sitting idle overnight. I've asked Xiaomi to consider an app with root permission to fix this. I am not holding my breath.
Im on custom rom everyday i get around 12-15 hours continue backup excessive usage with wifi and gps on. And even vpn is on because im in china so need vpn for google, facebook and youtube.
Look this I havent locked my phone since 2 hours and battery is still 83 %

Idle battery consumption... 6% in 7 hours

My smartphone is new. I bought it sealed two weeks ago.
I have had a similar energy consumption with the two s7 I have owned. With a very light usage, with the phone in idle almost the entire time, no wifi and gps activated, I would say that I loose something like 20% a day. It is much higher than other phones I had like the s4 mini or more recently the Redmi Note 4, with something closer to 10% a day (the Redmi Note 4 has a 4000 mAh battery which is higher that the 3000 mAh battery of the s7, but still energy consumption seems to be lower). In general, idle energy consumption seems to be a bit high to me on the s7. But I heard that the pixel 3 for instance also has a standby time that is not impressive. Again, it depends on what is installed on your phone and how you use it.
Maybe some tools like betterbatterystats or something similar can help you to see what wakes up your device if you want to make sure it is not due to any app.
yep mine consumes the same , i think its some hardware issue , i flashed morokernel 7.4 and undervolted , used hidden settings magisk module to turn off wifi watchdog and background scanning , that saves almost nothing ,,
you can even turn off the doze feature and idle drain is the very same between doze and not doze...
the idle drain is just bad .. it will also be the first and last samsung phone ill ever have , back to sony after this one, my amazing z3c (rip) used 0 to 1% per night and gps was 5 times more exact than this samsung ****phone, had perfect pocket mode , what s7 is missing entirely
well at least it has a good screen on battery life , so its not totally unusable phone
buying samsung is like wanting to buy a german car but end up buying an english or french car instead lol ...
edit: just searched for a comparison officially:
16 hours Standby sony zx1 9 % samsung s7 23 %
but if you install swift installer , use dark themed apps , and firefox with darktheme addon for websites the amoled screen on time is impressive , almost the same as idle drain for normal browsing lol

Well yes, some other phones have more impressive idle power consumptions. I also have naptime installed to trigger doze when the screen goes off, but does not change battery life so much. Even ROMs with a very limited number of apps installed lead to a high idle power consumption, so seems like an hardware related problem to me. But I still consider the s7 as a great phone and keep it as my daily driver. It is kind of waterproof, has an excellent camera even in 2019 standards (and there's just one in the back, not dozens), I like the fact that it is a 5 inch phone that can easily fit in my pocket and that I can use with one hand, the design is quite good and polished (subjective), no curved edge and notch that I don't really like (subjective), it has nfc, a jack port, a great amoled display, fingerprint in the front panel. And recent Lineage OS and Lightrom ROMs work quite well. This phone has still a great support after a few years, and I have difficulties to find all the features I like on this phone on any other phone. So charging my phone every 2 days is ok for me
Edit:
- bad signal reception can also increase battery drain
- just came across this link if that can help: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/fixed-standby-battery-drain-t3758050

its wrong, but theres nothing we can change so stopping worrying is the right call ... 0,9% per hour is the best which is possible on this phone it seems ..
but of course we need to throw this phone in the trash after 2 years becasue the battery will have deteriorated and usage is closer to 2 - 3% per hour (which in effect means it wont wake you many mornings (unless you have 30%+ when you go to sleep) .. while other phones might hold out 4 or 5 years maybe even 6 until the idle drain reaches the treshhold of unsusability ...

I upgraded to an S9 in Arpil from an S7. The S7 has no sim card and I get about 3 or 4 days yes the phone is idle most of the time but never got that battery life when it had a sim card.
I am not suggesting you remove your sim card but this does indicate where some of the idle battery consumption goes,

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Really good. I use always on display and charge phone only every 2 days.
Sine last few days. I am facing excessive battery drain after updating to miui12
In my case something was constantly using location. So I checked and revoked location permission for all apps. But even then it was showing that an app is using location. I restarted my phone and it's now fine.
For me it was cell standby draining it seems. Guess my operator sucks
Im using Xiaomi eu rom, and i charge my phone every 5-6th day. And i charge to 80% not 100%. so with 100% i could easy run for 7 days.
Im not kid so i dont play games with phone. Im not kid so i use computer to do the job, so that's may be reason too, but this phoen especially with EU version rom - have amazing battery life. Original ROM that came with phone drained battery MUCH quicker.
My standby drain is about 0.3%/hr. Wifi almost always on except when i go to sleep. I also use firewall (AfWall+ )so china wont suck my private data overnight.
PS> also im not kid - my phone is in airplane mode when im sleeping Kids loves radiation i dont.
