Hi, question before buying-
early reports and reviews says that Mate 9 is having some GPS issues. In reviews there were early, pre-selling devices, so theres question now when Mate can be find in shop.
Can You - owners tell how GPS is working? Im using smartphone as a daily navi in car, so this have to be perfect.
Just back from a 60 km car ride, navigating with Google maps. All good, gps works like a charm.
Als walked 10 kms through the woods today using Geotracker. Also spot on, followed the paths I walked really good.
Thanks for reply. So there are no problems like loosing satelites or slow fix?
I used it already several times, gps is fast and no problems (yet). MHA-L29
I've not had any problems with GPS either
Gps working fine with all apps, no problems at all.
Some reviewers say the phone does not support glonass. Can anyone on the latest firmware confirm that?
i have noticed some issue with gps on iski tracker app.
You can sow this on attached screenshot.

I use Waze every single day to commute, that's 2 hours per day. Zero problems.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using XDA Labs
I use GPS professionally
The Mate 9 is extremely quick at capturing satellites - probably the fastest phone yet.
It is also ready to use the new Galileo GNSS.

Totally agree.
p.s. Mate 9 captures Glonass satellites too. Problem (in some reviews) is in using apps, which are not working with GNSS standart. They are working with NMEA, but our Mate 9 does not report Glonass data in that standart.
So if GPS on Mate 9 is so great please tell me what is going on with my phone.

Huawei service consultant told me to do factory default but i'm on holiday and don't want to clean my phone now.

The Galileo and glonass are working, use updated gps test software like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.gpstest .
I get 2 Galileo satelites (Romania), 0 problems in waze.
Sure, working, but on my phone tracks looks like EKG.
If the GPS Test says it's OK then your phone is OK.
Have you tried different plotting apps?

I have tried two apps - iSki Tracker and Osmand and both with the same problem.
Have you seen the note about apps in post #11?
Try Geo Tracker

I use another app called SportyPal for cycling and have exact same problem as you. I set location settings on Mate9 to GPS device only and some days there are no jumps in track position and other days I have jumps on same track. Happens maybe 40% of time. Yesterday for example the track I cycled around a built up city environment recorded 29km traveled whereas normally the distance is about 20km. This makes the device pretty useless for tracking location and speed performance in a fitness app. Previously I used a Samsung Note2 for using same app and never had an issue of 4 years of use on same route.
@palatkik
My phone before mate 9 was also note 2 and I had no issue too. No I'm confused because of useless my new phone.

All fine
Hi,
my battery gets killed by those wakelocks (qpnp-vm-bms). At the moment it is laying on my table and I dont use it. Just online and waiting for calls (see attachment -> 43 seconds screen on). It is a XIAOMI REDMI 3 PRO with global ROM. I found several users who have this problem with a MI BAND attached, BT on and various ROMs. I dont have this band and BT is switched off. My other phone, wich I use daily and has a smaller battery (3000 inspite of 4000), lasts longer than this "akku-monster".
Anyone here has any idea or any solution to get rid o this?
Thanks a lot ....

Same problem on freshly installed lineageos rom. I've had issues with a sensor (accelerometer akm)
I also have this problem on Lineageos. Did you happen to find any source of this issue?

I try Google cards, asis smart ticket app for bus card and NFC feature from hardware tests, but there is no reaction on the phone. 2. I use these applications very well on my phone, the redmi note 8 pro. When I combine the Note 8 pro and Poco f2 pro back to back, there is no sound from the poco, but the note 8 pro shows the card read sound and the label screen opens. My phone's bootloader is off and I'm using MIUI 12.0.4 global. Do you have such a problem? Or how can I solve this problem?
I have the exact same problem, but I'm using 12.0.4 MI.
