A simple search could have answered that before you purchased the phone.
Glad I found this so Verizon hasn't changed I was just thinking maybe get that model for mm wave support but I want to be able to unlock the bootloader.

mmwave support is in all Pixel 5s sold in the US. No need to get a VZW branded device for any reason other than deals, rebates and paying it off over 24 months without further credit checks.

You paid for international unlock? It's free from XDA. Or was it domestic GSM unlock?

Unfortunately I haven't tried. I just came across this surfing the web. Looks like it worked, but it sounds like you can call sprint or stop at a store and ask them to do it.

Now that you've unlocked it, what carrier have you taken it to that is successful? What I've been reading is yes you can unlock it (domestic sim unlock) but due to different technologies there's no guarantee you can use it on GSM carriers like ATT or T-Mobile's 4G spectrum. You'll probably get 3G but not 4G LTE... Can you confirm?

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and I want to unlocked this cell phone is with Sprint, what can I do?
If you get the unlocked version from HTC's website, does it support Sprint, or will they have different radios? I tweeted HTC and they said that the unlocked version will NOT support Sprint.... But if you look on there website at the radios then I don't see an issue, they are the same as the unlocked version.
Here is a link to the website for the radios.
http://www.htc.com/us/smartphones/htc-u11/buy/#!color=black
And the unlocked radios:
http://www.htc.com/us/go/htc-u11-unlocked/
I also asked if I were to get the Sprint version would that support all other carriers (ie. AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon), I did not get a response from HTC.
I will say this would be absolutely ridiculous if the Sprint version is dumb down and doesn't support the rest of the world. I honestly would think about switching if this were the case. I just want to be on a GSM carrier that I don't have to worry about "if my phone will work" on this network. Annoying.
BTW I say this because I travel a lot, so having 1 phone that works everywhere would be the best thing in the world.

out of the box, the Unlocked ROM would not support Sprint, but the hardware is the same between the unlocked & sprint, so technically you could flash the Sprint ROM on the unlocked model. The problem is the unlocked IMEI would not be whitelisted. As far as the Sprint model supporting the GSM carriers...yes it would, provided the sim was unlocked...or you could flash the unlocked ROM.

OMFG THANK YOU! This makes way more sense now. I have been all over the Internet looking for an answer. Well at least I know the actual hardware is the same.
I feel like having to deal with hoping that Sprint will support the unlocked devices IMEI wpuld be worse then buying the Sprint flavor.
So I have 2 easy options then.
1. Buy it from Sprint at full price and do not extend my contact. Then have them unlock it which they can't say no to if I have no obligation to them.
2. Buy it from HTC but in the Sprint version. But I have to figure out if it is unlocked. I think it is. It looks like it is on there website.
Man I hate how buying phones and carrier plans work in the US. I wish we would go to an overseas model, and almost every phone is unlocked. Then you just decided what service you want yourself. So easy to just walk in a store and get service with whatever phone you want.

However, I do think I am going to purchase the phone at full price anyway as that is what I was planning on doing, but this is good to know. At least the hardware is the same and I wont be locked down by Sprint. I should just buy it direct from HTC I think.

Ya I was thinking the same thing. But its weird on HTC's website if you select the Sprint version it doesn't have the color black. But if you go to sprint they do..... facepalm.
Also I spoke with Sprint yesterday to see if they would tell me if the unlocked one works, and they refused to even check. They wanted the MEID of the device, which I don't have, and I told them I don't have it until I buy the phone online and have it shipped to me. So this is annoying.
Also I just ran across this article on Android Central that the Verizon version dose not have CDMA radios. Now that makes me wonder about the Sprint version.

Hey guys. Kinda bad news. HTC (Germany) just told me after telling me this morning my unit will ship today that it will ship on the 8th of June.
I asked why they didn’t contact me and sent me an email telling me it is delayed. They just told I am expected to contact them in order to know my shipping date. A bit ridiculous.
I sincerely hope they don’t have hardware issues.
Well if it’s the same as with my pixel xl then we all have to wait because HTC cant keep its production up with the demand.

I wonder what the likelyhood that oneplus 6t will have a locked bootloader if I get it from tmobile. I know you can get the unlocked version directly from oneplus.
I read somewhere that the bootloader will be locked until your're done paying off the phone. Then they will unlock the bootloader.

Unfortunately yes :/ just read it I think on the T-Mobile news app. Could have been from XDA though. I guess you can get it unlocked once you pay off half the phone.
I am on jump on demand, so I was ready to jump all over this! Tired of the lock bootloaders on my Samsung phones. I've had Samsung from the Galaxy 5 all the way up to the 9 obviously all snapdragon and all the "notes" in between. There's some awesome developers on here but no one has been able to unlock the bootloader I believe since Galaxy 6 :/
The jump on demand program is great since I like having the latest and greatest without having to Shell out the cash. Also the T-Mobile 6t version won't be a dual SIM card either.
Anyone please chime in and tell me something different .. haven't been rooted for a while, hopefully I missed something.
I have a T-Mo mobile and I confirm it's locked
Go to Tmobile and buy the phone outright or if on a plan, pay it off.

I know that it's not possible at the moment (at least from everything I've read), I was just curious if there was any developers actively attempting to achieve this, or if it's kind of a done deal? I've got a little money saved if there's any bounty currently going.
Thanks!

Very unlikely.
It's been a few years since any devs worked on rooting Verizon branded Motos, when you can just buy a unbranded model and unlock the bootloader.

Figured as much, just thought I'd ask. probably going the pixel route later this year for graphene.
I'm a OP 8t user currently looking at the P7P and I'm trying to figure out if I'm better of buying the unlocked version or if the Verizon variant is allowed to unlock the bootloader.
Anyone have any knowledge on this matter?
Thanks!
If you want to unlock the bootloader & ROOT -NEVER- get a Verizon ANYTHING. I have been on Verizon service forever but besides my first Android in 2010 (the pathetic HTC Droid Eris) and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, I wouldn't EVER get a device from them.

Still the consensus. I have heard that Verizon actually mandates locked bootloaders from any device manufacturer they contract with.
I give my phone upgrades / deals to others on my plan. Even tolerated a cracked 3xl screen for a few years, just because I didn't want Verizon to "fix" it with a locked replacement. Stay away.
