File encrypted! How can I open it!! HELP!! 2 - General Topics

I MADE THIS THREAD A FEW MONTHS AGO, DIDN'T GET THE ANSWER!! PLEASE HELP!
So, my brother backed up my Samsung Galaxy S4 on his laptop about 3 years ago. Can't remember the program used. He gave me the backup file recently. It's a .bak file which is 1.4GB.
(I screenshotted the file name and attached it here titled " FILE BACKUP TITLE.PNG")
I edited the file, to a .exe. (eg “Samsung SM-G350E_20191001_103009.bak” delete the bak and write exe after the dot and press enter.) That way I can access everything through winrar. However all of the files are encrypted! We have no idea what the password is, what shall I do! (Attached the "enter password" screen in winrar titled " RAR.PNG")
It has 1000's of photos from 2014-2017, I have no idea on what to do. I've checked out brute forcing, but I wasn't sure how to do it.
Thanks.

How do I copy a file that is in ROM that is tied to services and resists copying?

The file I'm trying to copy is ezinput.dll. Specifically, the version from my new Sprint Diamond Touch Pro.
I never had any problems copying files from ROM, but this one resists.
I tried using 1) Explorer via Activesync, 2) Resco Explorer (error: Cannot copy, Invalid parameter), 3) Total Commander (Cannot copy), 4) zipping the file (result is a 0 byte file), and stopping all the related services but results are the same.
Thinking that the dll is locked because it is loaded, I renamed all references of this file in the registry, reset, no joy.
Using Memmaid, I see that Services spawns many threads, and some of the et9 related dlls are started by it. Is this why I can't copy the file? If so, how do I keep Services from starting the .dlls?
The big questions are 1) Why can't I copy? and 2) How do I copy a file that resists copying?
Thanks.
question here is why do you want to copy the file, well i would like to know why lol
Have you got a rom update for the diamond rom you could extract the file from that, maybe it is protected ,which is why it cant be copied. Have you tried clicking copy in resco then just paste a copy back into the windows directory it will just rename it copy of ezinput.dll ,then maybe you will be able to copy that copy of the file?
Yes, I can extract the ROM (no update as far as I know) if I needed to, but I'm trying to avoid that.
I want to copy that file because the Touch Pro has slightly variations in its soft keybard that I would like to use.
I asked one of my developers, and he explains that the file is opened as "exclusive". I need to find a way to keep that file from running on startup. It's not running as a service, it's not in the startup, it's a registered .dll that is being called by another process.
Does WM6.x have a .dll cache?
There must be a way to copy this file... Help?

As I indicated in the original post, TC did not work. If you have a Diamond/Touch Pro/WM6.x w/ HTC's soft-keyboard, I would like you to try to use TC to copy windows/ezinput.dll to another location. My guess is that it will NOT work.

[Q] Problem signing update.zip

Hi all! I have an i9003 and i wish to install a custom update.zip... the problem is that i get always signature problem.
In the log of recovery i see that the program check the sign of package with one file present in the /res directory of the phone called KEY.
My question is.... can i use that key file to sign my package? How?
I see that another member of this forum (for another phone model) make an update.zip and the related key to put in the res directory.. i really would know how he done it....
Thanks in advance.

[Q] How can I change file path inside of a exe file?

Hi.
First of all, let me say that half of time took me to look for the right forum in XDA to post this message, and I'm still not sure I'm in the right place..
I think my Q is about modifying my OS, and this is why I post it here.
If the admin think there's better forum to this issue - I'd love to hear it..
Now, to business:
I have a GPS device, brand is X-GPS Navigation, Model GPS-S450B, that I will like to play with.
The OS is Windows® Embedded CE 6.0.
I just found out that at my GPS device, there is a file that resposible to a certain BMP that shown up at the shutdown process.
The filename is "PowerKey.exe", and it reffer to a file named "Notice_en.bmp".
I want to change that Notice-en.bmp file, to show that message in another langueage. I tried to overwrite the file with a similar bmp file, no luck. The file just re-created.
I've tried to edit the PowerKey.exe with a hex editor, and write a new path, to a file in NandFlash directory instead of the Notice_en that lays in Windows folder.
That also didn't go so well. "PowerKey has been preform illegal action and have to be shout down" or something like that, was the message. I could only put the device to sleep, until I recovered the old PowerKey file.
Any solution how to change the BMP file that resposible for the shutdown message?
(I guess the best idea is to write a registry entry to overwrite the BMP file in \Windows directory with the one in the \NandFlash directory every boot, only problem - I donno how to do it. )
Anyone?
There's no solution to my problem?
Recompile the exe.
Thank you.
Any chance to general guidlines in how is that done?

[Completed] [Q] Cut/Paste issues. (moving folders to Desktop)

Hello, I didn't know where to post this so I thought here would be best, so I can be pointed to the right place.
in one of my camera folders, I've had around 12,000 pictures "had 30,000 before deleting".. I decided it's time to move it to my PC and sort them out.. I have tried to copy them before when they were 30,000 but I've never been able to do that (it just doesn't work)
when I tried to copy them this time through connecting my Note 3 Rooted, I accidentally "cut" the folder and pasted it my desktop in PC..
the folder I have copied was Empty..
when I checked back on my android there was no trace of the folder.. and my Gallery no more shows the folder.
I tried to undo the process but it also failed.
I don't know where are the files exactly?
I've used DiskDigger to recover the files.. but I couldn't see them anywhere.
I've used ES file Explorer to unhidden the files (if they were hidden) but to no avail.
I hope someone, anyone, would know what I can do to recover the pictures or at least know what exactly happened
thank you!
anyone? where should I post this at least...
is this an issue that is not known?
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Have you written to the storage at all since these files went missing?

nope I haven't, I immediately did a recovery attempt..
the files are just not there... not a single one lol
so they must be "not deleted" somehow, somewhere.. they're there..

The only thing you can do is continue to try different data recovery methods and hope that one of them works. Sorry, that's about all the advice I can give you.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active (G891AUCU6CSF2) - Unable to create or find combination file.

Hello lads, new poster here -
I've had a bit of an FRP issue with my phone, and after fiddling with this for a few hours, and searching for a few more (I ran out of google results after page 3), I've been completely unable to find a combination file for this specific model (U6CSF2). I've attempted to make one from a guide (Image attached), but the key step, renaming the AP file to a .zip and extracting some files, doesn't work as the new zip folder requires a password (Image attached as well).
Now, this password thing happened on two separate firmware folders I downloaded. Are these the same folders and one was ripped off and re-uploaded to a new site, or is this password a Samsung thing that someone here knows? (I was unaware you could even password encrypt a file just incase it gets re-zipped).
I'm a complete novice, probably doing something silly someone could point out, any help is appreciated, including this specific combination file if someone knows where to find it.
(I did try looking for the password around these downloads and by searching the name of the uploader, but to no avail.)
Turning it on and off again did not fix it. Any ideas?
