Hello
I'm having a problem, I just updates Google Search via the Play Store to the new version 3.1.8. But to my disappointment, it crashes, it crashes immediately I try to open it or when I try to open Voice Search. I tried Clearing all data and reinstalling the app, but it still crashes. Please help.
Thank you

It's annoying. I thought I was the only one. I sent the crash report to Google. I hope they will respond with an update that fixes the problem, because I really wanna try the new features of Google Now.
Same here stock rooted.

Let me uninstall updates and try updating again.
*Edit: Still no luck, I guess I'll have to wait for a fix from Google.

You lucky then, I updated, and it doesn't work
Having same problem on stock device with no root.
Also noticed that Google+ doesn't work and crashes with the Google Search update. Removing the Google Search update fixes everything. Have submitted crash reports to Google for both defects.
Is there a way to only select the last update prior to Search v3.18 in the Play Store? Going back to the stock Google Search on the GN10.1 is a big step backwards.
Thanks.
apk is the only way

I think there's no option to rollback to prior updates. The only option is to go back to the stock version or Sideload the prior apk....

Understood.
As I've never done this for a Google app, could you tell me where I should search for the apk to sideload?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, having this same problem here... Google Now force closes / crashes on Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (Android 4.1.2).
For this, I hope Samsung gives my good old tablet a KIT KAT.

I'm also getting force closes from the new Google Newsstand app too. I went back and side loaded an old version of the Magazines apk, but all this is making me wonder if something changed in the Play Services API and we didn't get updated. Someone above mentioned that G+ wasn't working. Mine is.
NOT WORKING & VERSION
Search 3.18
Newsstand 3.0
G+ and translate are working. The error on search is related to number conversion (its what the error report says).
Still broken with the Dec 3 update. Sigh.

I had the same problem - not rooted, stock Note 10.1. Run KIES and there is a new Note 10.1 firmware update that fixes this problem. After the update from Samsung, Google Search and Google Plus run normally - no more blank black screens.
Also - before I updated the firmware, I tried uninstalling all updates to Search without reinstalling updates and it worked. The Samsung firmware update fixes the problem and allows all Google updates to work.

Thanks for the workaround. I've never used KIES as I didn't want more software on my laptop. Is there another way to update this firmware without using KIES?
As of this week I've noticed that the recent update to Google+ & Google News also crashes.

Hey, so I noticed this problem a few weeks ago and tried to do a factory reset to fix it, using the same huawei account (also tried with no account) it says 'Installation Failed' for every app I try to download or update.
It occurs 2-3 seconds after I press to download/update an app, I'm using MHA0AL00C00B213 build.

No update available through HiCare or system update check, I tried the firmware finder method but it's only finding B106.
The real problem here is that because I have a Chinese model, I can't install google play store (and it's associated functions).

True story. I tried updating and could not find an update (I cleared the carrier services and google framework but that did not work). I did a factory reset and when I went and manually checked for the update after getting to the home screen it found the update.
Thanks OP.
I cleared the google framework services, restarted the phone, then manually checked for updates 2x, after 1 min or so i got the oreo notification =)

That was more trouble that I was hoping for to get my Oreo update, but it was the only method that worked for me! Thanks for sharing
The VPN method doesn't seem to work for me. I tried both Orbot and Psiphon. Services Framework isn't listed in my Apps list either. I checked my mom's Moto G4 - it doesn't have it either. How did you guys manage to find it?

Im in the same situation , though i have the P40 Lite. Would be nice if someone who has been through this could share their experience.
kamesenin888 did you update, if so what was the result?
Thank you.
Nothing bad happened with the update but I fear of future updates
I've updated my p40 pro to the latest version without any issues, google services still work fine.
Hey! I got the Google play services installed on my p40 pro, have not had any problems with OTA updates, everything still works like a charm.
But my question is, when I open Aurora store it says play services is available to update, but in playstore there is no update.
If I update the services through Aurora will it make the play services stop workin?
I guess it's a modified version of play services that are installed when I used the guide to install play services with the lzplay installer.
I installed the 147 firmware on p40 pro ... and made a factory reset.
Be aware that if you update the firmware and do a factory reset... there is no way to install the lzplay and google play services.
If you decide to update in the future try to not do the factory reset or delet the cache...Until someone give us a working solution for the lzplay.

When i was on .131 lz play works fine .. after the update with the new security the creators of lz play I think blocked the phone. Because installing the google play services on any huawei phone is not supported from google and huawei ... maybe some of them complain to creators of the lzplay and they blocked.
So until someone find a new hole to install google play services .. everyone who update to july securiti and do a factory reset i think will not be able to install google play service animore.
No issues after update
I'm stuck at. 131

You can always downgrade using Hisuite proxy method below, I've made that mistake of updating to 147 (had auto updates setting on) but successfully downgraded to 131 and gms install went smoothly then updated itself to 147 and gms still working fine
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83238395&postcount=328
I will give it a try.
Thx for the tips
Do you guys have a link to the guide you followed to get GMS installed? My P40 pro is on the way and there are so many guides out there. I would rather use one that is known working.

Help me please. I tried to use the proxy and I got that I cannot find Internet connection and cannot downgrade. How do I solve this???
I managed to downgrade my software from 147 to 133 and then to install google services which work fine. Problem now is that there's no way to update the frimware from 133. I've tried OTA through phone and I'm being offered the same version I already got installed. Tried with HiSuite proxy method and only get error messages no matter what firmware (incremental) version i try to install. Guess there are hundreds of methods how to install google services and there might be some file I installed that locks the firmware to the one I've got installed. Has anyone experienced this problem and is there a fix for it?

I'd be interested in this also as I can't get mine to update, I bought it used last week so not sure if the previous owner downgraded from 147 before I had it.
Im currently running my P40 Pro with emui 10.1.0.131 - I installed GMS using the Googlify method with LZPlay etc..
Everything works, play store, maps, gmail etc.. i dont get notifications for GCloud stuff, but i do for Gmail every 15 minutes it syncs, so all in all i can use it pretty fully.
Can I upgrade to the latest version of software now this is all installed, or will this emui update break the GMS stuff ive got working? Obviously from what i understand there isnt a current method to install GMS on the latest EMUI so if thats the case that it will break it i'll stay as is, but if it shouldnt cause any issues, ill update.
Thanks!
You can upgrade, it will keep all without problems.

Thank you all.
any ideas on how to update to the latest version manually without losing data? when i check for update it says im on latest, but im on .121!
With HiSuite proxy, using Firmware finder.
Have you read about that ??
Need to know exactly your phone model and download the correct firmware.
See the video about HiSuite proxy method, to know ehat you must to do there.
It's not so hard, but you must follow thr correct steps and use the correct firmware.

Yes I have, that's what I used to downgrade from 183 to 121 to do gms setup and now stuck on 121.
But if I do that it will wipe my phone wouldn't it? I will lose gms and all my data which is what I'm trying to avoid. Am I missing something here?
I didn't lose anything ...

Let me get this straight. You installed Google services onto your Huawei phone that has been banned from Google, using one of the many methods on YouTube which installed one of the very old beta Google Play Services. Your Google account was set up and you had no stream of the usual error messages and notifications regarding the services. You then updated Google Play Services from an APK file that can be found online. You tried various newer versions until you settled on one that worked for Android Auto. And everything still works and you still have no stream of error messages and notifications regarding Google Play Services.
