How to unbrick UleFone Armor 3WT? - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I have too bricked my 3WT in the rooting process, and I managed to do this to revive it:
1. You have to turn the phone off completely. It's hard to discern, because if it doesn't boot the screen is black in both on and off states. You can tell when it's off, because if you connect the phone to a computer by the USB cable, in the device manager it should appear as an UART port or MTK transfer (or something similar, I don't remember exactly).
2. With the phone turned off and disconnected, run SP Flash Tool (my version is 5.182), go to Options, then Connection category, and make sure you have USB connection, High Speed, and auto detect selected.
3. In the SP Flash Tool go to the Download tab, set the donwload agent to MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin (from the SP Flash Tool directory), and set the Scatter-loading file to MT6771_Android_scatter.txt from the stock rom directory (you must decompress the stock rom first). Leave Authentication file empty.
4. Below the files set the combo box to Download only. Also all the sections below should be checked.
5. Click the Download button at the top, and when the controls will gray out, one then connect the phone by the USB cable. The SP Flash Tool should then detect the phone and start flashing process. This will restore the stock firmware and replace the TWRP (bootloader still should be unlocked), but it's easy to root again from there.
After flashing if you have red Chinese text overlay on the screen after booting stock rom, you will have to reflash the keys. Procedure for that is described in the other Armor 3WT thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/ulefone-armor-3w-3wt.3969217/page-4

Hello everyone,
Recently I rooted my device (UleFone Armor 3WT), as described on page 2 of the original 'Ulefone Armor 3W/3WT' thread. This process went relatively smoothly, until afterwards I tried removing the bloatware via Titanium Backup. Where it would say it was removed, but the app stayed on the home screen, potentially a 'false root'. I then decided to remove the app folders manually in TWRP, which went fine for YouTube Music, but when I went for the following not so much:
Calendar (com.google.android.calendar)
Messages (com.google.android.messaging)
Chrome (com.google.android.chrome)
Drive (com.google.android.apps.docs)
Duo (com.google.android...)
Files (com.google.android.apps.nbu.files)
Photos (com.google.android.apps.photos)
Gmail (com.google.android.gm)
Google Sample Home Screen (com.google.android.gmsintegration)
Keep Notes (com.google.android.keep)
Google Play Films (com.google.android.videos)
Google Package Installer (I assume Play Store) (com.android.vending)
YouTube (com.google.android.youtube)
YouTube Music (...)
Google Restore (...)
Then I rebooted, but the device (after loading for 20 minutes) would only go in to TWRP recovery, I tried re-running the root process, this didn't work, then I wiped all the data except on the internal memory and SD card to re-instal the firmware (which we have acces to from the original thread), this didn't work as I didn't unpack the data properly (and the instal proces remained at 0%, so eventually I disconnected, twice).
At this point I brought it to a local guy, but he didn't know what to do either, and then after I got it back... It would not go in to TWRP recovery or even charge to do so! The device did have low battery, and the guy says he didn't do anything other than google for information which he didn't find. So I think it was just another part in this series of unfortunate events, and stupid decisions, but either way, I need to get this device back to factory settings, from a hard brick. The device still works in terms of hardware, and the light does come on with charging, it just doesn't go any further.
Any help would be much appreciated!
EDIT: I did have a replacement for each of the apps I removed, although I may have not allocated them correctly, this might be the problem, but I assume I shouldn't have deleted to google package installer, restore and sample home screen (which I think is the 'irremovable' google search widget), in the way I did.

[Q] PANIC

If I break forum etiquette in some way please excuse the lapse - this is my first post to any forum. Honestly, it's a bit intimidating but I'm more than a little desperate right now. Near panic would be a better description of my state.
My Droid Incredible is stuck in a continuous boot loop. 24-48 hours after downloading a sleep sound generating app (if this is relevant), I was trying to use a different app and a pop-up stated "internal error" and would not load the app. I tried another and same result. I tried to kill all running apps with advanced app killer and same result. I turned off the phone thinking that it would correct when turning it back on but no luck. Now it just power cycles in a continuous boot loop. There has been no solution through tech support or a store visit. I don't care about the phone. At this point I would like to strap it to a steak and throw it in a lion cage. I do care about the data its holding - none of which is backed up in any way. There is no sd card and no back-up in my gmail account. I need to try and rescue the following data: voice memos from the HTC app, notes from the 3bannana (catch notes) app, photos, videos, apps, bookmarks from the dolphin HD browser and the Android browser, pdf downloads, text messages, call log settings, etc.
I have tried to boot the phone with a sd card installed. I have tried to view the data from a Celebrite machine at the Verizon store - it sees the drive but not the data. I tried to get into a "safe mode" menu by depressing down volume+center click+menu. Nothing has worked.
Is there any desktop software (or any other solution) that would enable me to restore (rescue) the data from the phone while it is in this state?
If there isn't, please just make something up so I can continue for a while in a delusional state of hope and get over this gradually.
Thank you for your wisdom and mercy.

If you have a custom recovery image and the partitions aren't corrupt you should be able to recover everything with adb.
If you don't have a custom recovery then it might be impossible to recover anything.
Have you rooted the phone and installed a custom recovery?
With respect to backups - GMail for example is stored in the cloud - so the data on your phone is just a clone - you won't loose your mail - other apps I don't know, you'll have to check each.
If you can't get stable adb access you will need to research a factory reset for your phone which should fix it (but will wipe your data).

Unfortunately, I have not rooted my droid, have no custom recovery image and don't even know what adb is. As you can tell, I am a complete novice - but a novice in serious trouble if I can't recover the data. When you say stable adb access, what do you mean?
I was hoping to find some type of desktop recovery software that may be able to recognize the drive on the phone and then view and copy the data. Is it possible that this might exist. By the way is there a more appropriate sub-forum to place this post?
Thanks for your help,
Caleb

lol ADB is the Android Debugging Bridge - in layman's term, it's a way to gain terminal access to your phone and do several other things with your phone. Mostly for debugging, but can be used for these purposes if you're rooted/installed a custom recovery.
That said, it would be at this point in time, virtually impossible to save your data that hasn't been backed up. Even if you had root, this might have been a bit more accomplishable (though usually a custom recovery never hurt ). If you're REALLY desperate, there might still be a way, though the chances of it working and providing good results is a mixed bag of results.
I'm assuming that if you didn't have an SD card in there in the first place that it has some built-in memory, right? Well, If not, then Catch notes would not have worked as it depends on an SD card to hold backups and (if i believe correctly) notes. Also, I'm assuming that you had some accounts set up on your phone (HTC/Google). If not, then I don't know how you've gone this long without it, but I'm almost positive you did have at least those two. In that case, the voice memos might be saved as well as the call log settings. Contacts might also be synced, so its more of the physical stuff we need to worry (texts/pdfs/bookmarks/pictures/videos)
Now, there are ways to recover using a computer. It all requires that you get your phone to work again (don't throw it to the lions yet!) So, we'll need to try and unbrick it. Follow the instructions here to try and get your phone back into factory state. It's true this will delete all your data, but as you are now, you have even less of a chance of recovering it.
From here, you're going to just skip past the setups and everything. After that, you're going to mount the phone as a disk drive. Now, this is where things can either go really good or really bad for you.
Get a recovery software for Windows, Linux, or Mac here. I honestly prefer Recuva as it has worked well for me in the past and this other program I had to pay for (can't remember the name. Search google and you might find it ;P), but Recuva should serve these purposes well.
The reason why these things work very inconsistently is that when you delete stuff in your phone/computer, they don't actually get "deleted". Rather, they are flagged as "not needed" and is left there until the phone/computer needs more space. It'll search out any flags, then overwrite them. In our case, that will work for and against us. Since we have to rewrite about 1 GB of data to reinstall the system (or was it +- 500 MBs?) we'll have to assume that about that much will be lost to us. That's why usually videos are unrecoverable. They are large and usually take up the most space, so they will be hard to recover if anything.
However, this works out for us as we can recover things like texts, contacts, your color note files, bookmarks, pictures, and whatever else you can dream of with a very high success rate. This is because they are small enough and if they don't get touched, you can probably get them in their original form. However, if parts of it is overwritten (i.e. texts, video) , you'll know cause the texts will have funky characters that dont make sense and the video wont load. Use this to your advantage and recover only small things first. Rule of thumb: if its small and seen by the software, most likely untouched. Grab these first.
I apologize for this really really long post. I just wanted to explain every part to you so you can understand the thinking behind why I'm asking you to do something as delete your precious data. However, like I stated earlier, there is almost 100% chance you won't get everything back and you could still possibly lose all your data should the software not see it. However, I feel this is much better than not having any chance at all and just staring at your phone waiting for it to grow brains and spit out the data in a conveniently-hidden SD card. So, I hope this works for you and if things go well, let me know! =]

In case hard reset didn't work...
You can follow the following section by clicking here:
How to revert to factory (stock, S-ON, no root):
Get S-ON by flashing THIS FILE (218.5kb) via recovery the same way you would flash a ROM. If you're not on the stock radio, you'll first need to FLASH THE STOCK RADIO. If you don't know how to do this, then you've never flashed off the stock radio, so you're good.
Revert your phone back to the stock, unrooted ROM. You have two options.
Option 1: Download HTC Sync and run the RUU. You can download the RUU HERE (180MB).
Option 2: Download THIS FILE (172.5MB) and place it on the root of your SD card. Reboot your phone into HBOOT (Bootloader, NOT RECOVERY!!!). Once the bootloader checks the image, it will ask you if you want to update. Select Yes and let the update run. After the phone reboots, you will have a stock, factory Droid Incredible running the November update.

[Q] (Android) Market, software, and app problems because of root

(my question lies offset below, incase the reader wants to skip my paragraph and use it as reference. I had to type it all to give background to where I am now)
I have a DROID2 from Verizon Wireless running Android 2.2.3 Froyo, and have owned it for ~a year. One Day in early 2011 things started going wrong, like vibrate wouldn't work on messages (sms and email, using GoSms), my stock battery manager that told me % usage since last charge would crash when clicked, gmail and calendar wouldn't sync. I talked to a friend, backed up my phone, and reset to factory settings. then, he said that rooting was amazing, so I broke down, rooted my phone, backed it up with Droid X bootstrap recovery, and thought it was great. then my phone started to continually boot in recovery mode, even after I removed root and bootstrap. it also ran strangely sometimes and would be slow, but I figured that was my impatience. so i decided one day to root my phone (using z4root), use a root explorer, search my system files for ANYTHING with "recovery" that to me looked like that stupid bootstrap placed (because i read somewhere it made a file and it stayed in my system) and deleted those files. now, I have new problems:
apps that I had a few days ago (8-16-2011) and have NOT updated won't work on my phone from the market. the market app does not give me the ability to download, and online it says its not compatible with my phone, which is bull crap because I downloaded AND used the apps the day before, but deleted and wanted them back. some apps include: facebook, Heywire (2.6.1), and Adobe Flash 10.3. I reset my phone to factory TWICE yesterday in attempt to fix. when the phone first loads, the OLD market is installed, which I used to download Heywire before the new update came, which then said the SAME VERSION of Heywire is not compatible. there are also a few minor errors I have, the stock email app picture doesn't show in status bar, it is very slow, etc. I am currently NOT rooted and NEVER flashed a Rom. My friend said that I could just replace some files and it should be fine. Also, I have issues when powering on my phone. when I turn it off, to turn it back on I must 1. turn on 2. wait for Motorola "M" screen to dim 3. remove battery 4. turn on and wait for boot up My question is:
1. How do I figure out all the files I need?
2. Where can I get these files?
3. Is there a way I can get root access and just copy paste ALL system files back to the phone as if it is fresh out of the box?

[Q] Problem after rooting LG Optimus Me

Hello!
Two days ago I rooted my phone thanks to this forum. Everything was alright at first, but then I deleted some applications and I think one of them is causing the issue - probably Google Quick Search Box, or some other Google application (deleted a few that seemed innocent enough). I deleted also Facebook, Youtube and Twitter application (all of these were using the internet when the Internet is on and I didn't like it because it is spending me money - that's the reason I ended up rooting my phone).
The problem is when I try to add a new contact or access a new one, I see the android.process.acore ended unexpectedly error. I can see this error also when I do some other applications (Talk for example - not that I need it, just for information). Also, I cannot access the Market application - shows white screen for a second or two and then hides away.
I tried unrooting my phone, removing the battery and sd card out and then putting them in again, doing a hard reset through the buttons (I can't access the Privacy menu on settings also - same error).
I tried updating the software through LG PC Suite, but of course, I got: You have the newest version, update is not required. And of course there is no repair option, which is dumb, but who asks me.
Anyway, if I add some apk files to my sd card through the PC is there any way I could instal them on the LG Optimus Me phone? Since I wiped out my phone and have no access to Market (tried openning it through Browser and then logging in, selecting an application and click on Instal button - nothing happens), I don't have for example a Root explorer or some other type of exploring application on my phone, nor I have a Barcode scanner application.
Any ideas??
Some new info, thanks to my husband's Samsung Galaxy Gio, through bluetooth succeded to install Astro File Manager. Now I have access to the sd card. Now I am going to try to find what should be on the android 2.2.2 by default and install it. Hope this would work.
Just to say - still haven't solved the issue with the phone, but I tend to go around it. Hope I will find a solution one day, though.
Maybe you could try downgrading it or do a factory reset via recovery mode

[Q] yp-g70cwy/xaa malfunctioning

Hello, hoping someone here can help me. I have the galaxy player 5 (yp-g70cwy/xaa). When I first got it ran a software program that only allowed it to do one thing which was rate tv programs that I watched. I did a factory reset, wiped the cache and the davlik cache as well...after that the phone would only open as far as the samsung logo.
I recently started tinkering with it again and I rooted the phone, flashed the rom, used .pit files, with odin and superoneclick. I recently used android commander and I finally saw life! The only problem is that I will either get the message the setup wizard is not working and it will leave me on a blank screen that only shows the time, battery, and whether or not the usb is connected. I can connect the usb to the computer and drag and drop stuff into the ext sd card. The internal memory and internal sd card do not read. My computer shows the yp-g70 in devices but it will not show it under removable devices.
When I connect it to android commander I can see all the files on the device and I was finally able to get the phone to the play store. I logged on using my gmail account and I was able to download apps (that all worked fine). I used some third party apps to do what the phone could not do which was open up the settings, camera, etc. The home screen is completely blank. The lock screen shows the wallpaper I downloaded but not the home screen. After awhile the phone turned off with a full battery and it will only work if I reset to factory defaults but then I have to register with google all over again. Does not save anything!
Can anyone please tell me how to fix this device. I have been working on it for a week already and no improvement.
Update
I now have the phone to where it can download items from the play store. I can use the device like normal But I had to download an app for the start key because I cannot get to the options without it. When i downloaded and rebooted the recovery it still gets stuck at the samsung logo. I have to type something into the search bar in the android commander and the phone boots to the play store. It randomly turns off and I have to recover the files all over again...I dont know. It seems like an improvement but yet I know that there is a file in this phone that is bad. I downloaded anti virus but it is still not picking up anything.
any luck on this?
I have the same one and just started looking to see how I can tinker with it .. .

Gretel G1 displays lines but input/Audio works after flash

Okay,
I have a Gretel G1 (MT6580) here. I backed up the data and decided to flash it (like most cheap phones, it eventually got filled with Malware). So I followed the typical flashing procedure: Drivers, Flashtools, scatter, etc.
But this time, I was stupid enough to select "Format All + Download", so inevitably, it's not very usable right now.
Since then, and despite all the things I've tried (different drivers, versions, etc.) the phones been pretty much bricked. However, I did notice that the phone seems to be booting despite the display not showing much more than lines. I even unlocked the phone by trying the standard gesture (confirmed by the Android unlock sound effect).
I still seem to be able to flash the phone effectively, and access the non-system files normally (via file manager when the phone is on). I cannot however, get into system restore via the usual route (power and volume keys) or if I can, I can't tell if I'm in it due to the confused display.
I reckon I've probably removed an element that wasn't included in the needrom rom that makes the display stop working. Has anybody else got any ideas?
