AirDroid can do remote control of the screen from another Android but doesn't mirror sound. scrcpy is open source so it should be possible to run it from within Android?
Before I start investigating this further, is it possible to remote control one Android device with sound from another?
It's hard to google for this info because I keep finding stuff about casting, screen mirroring and sound only and also for different devices. But I'm interested in Android to Android so I can use my non GApp capable eink only phone to access my GApp phone at home.

Hello, I'm searching for an alternative for BBQScreen which allows me to mirror/clone the screen of my S4 in realtime. I don't want to start any apps like Chromecast, just a realtime-streaming like AirPlay in connection with AirServer.I know there is an Android app called AirSync which allows me to create a connection to the AirServer, but a realtime-screen-mirroring like it is possible with an iOS-device is not possible (yet). BBQScreen makes this possible, but it regularly breaks down and I have to reconnect every few minutes...
Miracast should work like AirPlay, but I think it's not working as it should yet. If I'm mistaking, please let me know!
Reflector 2 Screen-Mirroring
Hello!
To answer your question, a great alternative to BBQscreen is Reflector 2. It runs on a Mac or Windows computer and is compatible with Android devices using Google Cast. There is no additional software needed for the device(s) you wish to mirror. When your device is mirrored to your computer screen, the app will allow you to see what's happening on your device in real-time, as well as record your mirrored devices. As long as your computer and device are on the same network, you shouldn't experience issues using the app.
I'm using AirServer now. Works quite well, although iOS-devices still work better...
Hi,
I'm after some advice. I need to connect an android 5.x device to a tv using hdmi. It need to be full android as per a tablet. Ideally the device will have a standard resolution such as 1920 x 1080.
The reason being I have to install some software for android that turns it into kiosk mode and then run digital signage software. The software is site kiosk by provisio.
The tv will be a large format touch screen so in essence a giant tablet. I could plug in a tablet which would work but it seems a waste as I don't need the tablet screen.
Are there any devices I could use, off the shelf or something I could get and then install android on to. I was thinking of an rpi 3 but seems android doesn't work yet on the pi, well not android 5.x anyway
I also looked at android tv devices but I'm not sure these run a std android os and therefore the software I need to use may not install.
Any suggestion would be great fully received.
Thanks....
I simply want to control my T-800 tablet from my 6P phone. Mostly I just want to control songs and volume. I can’t find anything that works.
There is a TeamViewer Host that runs on the Tablet but none of their own TeamViewer clients can not connect and I have not been able to get them to help me.
There also seems to be a VNC Host for Android but it needs a rooted device just to try it out.
Such a simple thing on the desktop, is there nothing that just works for Android devices?
Bump.
Hello everyone,
my application is (and will remain) free, without ads, and open source.
It lets you control the sound volume of an Android device remotely from any other device that has a web browser, Android or not.
Therefore this also includes non-Android devices (such as PC, Mac, iPhone and so on) which thus act as a remote controller.
Both devices must be connected to the same local network (Wifi).
First, I did build that app for myself, because I often use an Android tablet, connected to an audio sound system (HiFi, an old one that does not have a remote controller), to play music, and I wanted to be able to adjust sound remotely from an iPhone, in a simple way. As I did not find a free existing solution, I did it myself. I have chosen a web solution : we can now control volume remotely from any device that has a web browser.
Finally, convinced that this could be useful to someone else, I have made it public :
On Google Play Store : play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tanaka42.webremotevolumecontrol
On GitHub : github.com/tanaka42/androidapp-webremotevolumecontrol
You will find more information and screenshots in above links.

My app now has more than 150 users located all around the world, I am very happy
so, my goal is to run waydroid (android on Linux) and be able to cast YouTube videos to the YouTube app for android tv. waydroid is essentially, an android compatibility layer for Linux. It runs atop lineage, and allows you to run android apps on Linux. my goal is to be able to cast youtube from my phone to my linux computer via waydroid, and lineage. Not sure about what the simplest way of doing so would be. would it make sense to spoof lineage to an android tv box? can that even be done? is there a way to install android tv specific apps onto lineage? the linegae os build i'm using comes with GAPPS, but i don't know how to install the youtube app for google tv.I've even thought about building lineage from source, but i'd only do that as a last resort. Again, i'm trying to cast youtube from my phone to essentially a stock android lineage, rather than casting from my phone to a chromecast. I've thought about using smarttubenext, and some other similar apps, but i want full youtube cast support, meaning not having to pair with a tv code.
Does anyone have any idea on how to install youtube for android tv on top of a semi-standard lineage build?
