Is it possible to enable volte in xperia 5 in india? I bought xperia 5 j9210 from online. Unfortunately volte not working in india. is there any workaround? My wife is also using xperia 1 it also bought from online since sony stopped sales in india, volte is not working for that device aswell. Thanks in advance.
You may have to verify with your carrier if they support volte on the Xperia 1 & 5 at all?
if so, then then it may be a question of getting the firmware for your country/region flashed to the phone(s).

I am asking for your Xperia 5 only. Probably that same region's firmware (if it exists) on my 5 III might enable VoLTE. So far I have tried Global (Vodafone LC not Net Locked) and SEA but both haven't worked in enabling VoLTE.

@yogeshpatel7 If it's not a lot to ask from you, could you PLEASE spare 5-7mins to go through my request here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/enable-jio-volte-and-vowifi-on-xperia-5-iii.4467977/) and see if you could help enable this for 5 III? I hope I am not asking a lot from you and it would SUPER APPRECIATED if you could help make this work. Right now my phone is practically a paperweight as I can't make any calls as Jio is a 4G ONLY sim and doesn't work without VoLTE.
How to Enable Volte and 5G Without Permanent Root on Xperia 5 III and 1 III
First of all, Thanks to @johndaniel, @htcmage, @gorEisberg @Forbesii @morphvale @arjun_m4 for sharing all the information and files required for this guide. FIRST THING FIRST: Data is priceless. Always backup before you modify your phone...

Your right about the UK and volte if your network supports it which mine does had a text message from them the other week to say that 4g super voice(what my network call volte) is now available for the xa F3111
Sent from my Xperia XA using XDA Labs

Did you update the "New update of 9.8mb"
don't know what changed they have made in this patch, may be this patch include VoLte features.
i'm unable to update, since i have unlocked the bootloader.

Noppe that 9.8mb update had nothing to do with Volte. I checked everything can't seem to figure out what it was about maybe just some fix or something but no Volte yet ?

Yes it is not volte patch
But I think you should update to it
May be it has some fixes that are really necessary to our xa
Cause Sony is not so generous that it will give an update with extra feature in very short time from its latest update
I have listened about call log is lagging after nougat update
Not sure every one has this problem or not
But may be that 9.8 MB update relates to that problem or any other else
I suggest you to update when you have a free useless boring time to time pass with that update
I have a XA1 Dual Sim, but the situation may be same.
if you go to *#*#7378423#*#* > Service info > Software info under Current Modem Config if you have Vodafone LTE On, it has the default config, but if you have Jio LTE On, then the config changes to a Jio Specific Config, one of the reasons why my phone restarts when i change the settings between Vodafone and Jio, it needs to reload the Modem config file.
Now I believe Sony has VoLTE specific config for each of the Operator and the software is looking for some settings in the SIM to enable VoLTE Provisioning.
If anyone has root and can browse the content for the system folders /system/etc/customisations/modem/ , and could check if there are different config files for each of the Operator, take a screen shot, or may be one common config for VoLTE if all SIM support VoLTE.

Good day all, hope I'm on the right place/post here.
Wondering if someone can help, I've purchased a Xperia XA F3113 via Amazon from SA.
Phone works 99.9%, the other 0.01% is my issue.
To start with all the settings are set to LTE(Preferred)/WCDMA/GSM, my carrier Vodacom has sent and verified that my sim is LTE activated (Used the same sim on other phones with LTE present)
Here's everything I did to resolve the problem....
1- Phone came from USA with android 6 and no LTE signal just 3g (In a 4G environment)
2- Vodacom sent settings and confirmed. did not work
3- Spoke to Sony and they suggested I upgrade software
4- Upgraded software via Sony Companion to Nougat Android 7
5- Vodacom re-send the LTE settings still no luck.
6- If I search the mobile networks it only finds 3g-Vodacom, 2g-Vodacom, MTN, Cell C NO LTE on any network. Screen shot Attached....
7- Think I've reached Google's end of their information network (searched everything)
OK so now I'm thinking I want to flash/re-install ROM/Firmware with SA (South African) settings due to different Base band versions.
I came across a link but are not allowed to post it yet due to my 1ste post on you're site. But the ink only have the "(F3112_1302-4393_33.3.A.0.127-R1B_Customized_SA.ftf)" for model F3112 dual sim and apparently it wont work on the F3113 single sim....
Google this: 2017/06/xperia-xa-android-7-0-nougat-firmware
Can Anyone maybe help or have some suggestions except for returning the phone.....?
Thnx

Hi, I think that it will not solve your problem. Did not you asked yourself why Sony sell 3 differents single sim device (F3111, F3113 and F3115)?
Look here and "Networks":
http://www.xperiablog.net/specifications/2016-xperias/xperia-xa/
And if I look here Vodacom SA uses LTE B3 for 4G:
https://www.frequencycheck.com/carriers/vodacom-south-africa
To confirm your problem if you look here you will see that only F3111 and F3115 will have 4G on Vodacom SA:
https://www.frequencycheck.com/carr...eria+XA+&q[device_brand_id_eq]=&commit=Search
Be careful next time you buy a device

You can try but it will probably brick your device or Flashtool will not let you flash it (never tested). Firmwares are not unified probably for a good reason. Maybe an other user can confirm if it works or not

I don't want to break your hopes but the problem is not your network provider so changing some lines in build.prop will not enable LTE Band 3 on your device. It's a modem feature (or maybe related to modem firmware if you are lucky) so it's on the hardware side of your phone. You can try but I know the result The better way is to know if modem chips are same on all XA Single Sim and, if yes, try to flash the modem firmware from a F3111 or F3115.
Cool, will investigate and try that. Thank a lot

Flashing ROMs from F3111 or F3115 to F3113 is not a good idea. Like @rrvuhpg said it can brick your device. My advice is to send it back and ask for different model (if they have it, because you have warranty). There is also a possibility to change just baseband, but I don't have expirience in extracting baseband. I remember that when I used Huawei G510 I flashed MIUI rom with Chinese baseband and then developer added one small .zip file to flash it for other regions and it worked (but I changed that ROM because it takes too much resources for a that phone). So try contacting some senior developer or google for it, but do this if you can't change your phone, because you will lose warranty if you root phone.
Thank you guys I will definitively try some of you're advice's, thanks again....... Will give feedback asap. have a good one..

VoLTE is provider specific. This means that a special firmware has that support built in... Are you saying that you're a Saudi user and with original FW it worked? Why do you need to change regional software?
I'm India user but got this mobile from Saudi.. Changing firmware to India will get volte support.. In other Xperia xz premium users I see volte support which are running Indian firmware.

Why on earth would VOLTE be locked out of a region? I also have the international model XQ-AS72 and am in Australia so is this why I can't seem to see VOLTE setting as well?
Edit: also how do you view the information you've posted?
Bump
Also this code gets into the screen I was after.

I have the exact issue with the model. Not able to turn on Volte. Bought it from Hong Kong and using it on indian bands. Why is this happening? Is there a fix?
It's pretty **** we have this issue. Thanks Sony....nice job.
In US version XQ-AS62 there is an option to enable VoLTE from Mobile network.
As far as I know sometimes SIM companies block VoLTE as on my Xperia X Dual, I was able to use VoLTE in India on Jio but here in US T Mobile blocked it so no option of VoLTE even though phone had support. However on Xperia 5 II it's available and works.
Did you get Volte on Xperia 5 ii in India?
Did you try it on Airtel and jio?
Can you please provide the firmware version of your xperia 5 ii.
I have xperia 1 ii model XQAT52 and I don't get Volte in India on this device.

I am currently in US so can't check it and firmware version is 58.1.A.3.87 but VoLTE is supported out of box.
VOLTE requires the cell provider to provision for it in the firmware of your device. VOLTE will not work for a USA provider if you use a phone made for a different market like hongkong because the firmware doesnt expect it. You can blame the cell providers for this.
Different versions of Xperia 5ii
I found there are 3 different versions of Xperia 5ii. XQ-AS52, XQ-AS62, XQ-AS72 Anyone know the differences on these three models?

Good news is the latest WW firmware for me actually enabled VoLTE as a menu option by default, even when it wasnt listed in the patch notes. Now, I dont know if they added any carriers but I know there was a list of MBN's on ZenTalk of ones that were already inserted into the modem firmware, so if your carrier is on that list theres a very good chance that VoLTE will work.
Tried the update still its not supported.

its called Zain in Kuwait. Tried samsung phones and they are working fine but not on the ASUS rog 5. Note: the 5g is working fine. However when dial *#*#4636#*#* and checking the IMS it says not registered and VoLTE and the rest unavailable.
