Any customized themes that are compatible with EMUI 5.0 on the Honor 8 phone? Seems VUi is still on 4.1, isn't it?

I ran the beta for a while and I wasn't able to find any during the month or so I used it. I imagine it'll be a little bit after its official release before we see theme support.

It's kind of strange since I've been running L04-*B360 (same build as mentioned, but US variant) for ~couple of weeks now via the Charles update thread. It runs great, but I would be surprised if they released the exact same version of the beta I'm on as the "final release" version.
If it's the same version I'll just stick with the b360 build I'm on. I suppose it's possible that each "region" version of the H8 will wind up on some slightly different version of EMUI but that doesn't really sound right either.
Here's an attachment of my current beta build 360:

So there's no point in waiting for the final release in February? Just apply for beta, install 360 version?
That'd be disappointing by honor
Huawei is really starting to tick me off. That want to be "bigger than apple" but for updates it seems like North America is in the back of the cue.
Seriously, release those updates and release that source code so we can get custom Roms running properly.
Otherwise Huawei phones will not be on my shopping list again.
You make it very hard to like you.

They seem to have a very small team working on the US Beta (maybe only 1 person even)
the Beta releases were:
2016.11.11 FRD-L04C567 FRD-L04C567B317
2016.11.24 FRD-L04C567 FRD-L04C567B320
2016.12.08 FRD-L04C567 FRD-L04C567B324
2017.01.03 FRD-L04C567 FRD-L04C567B360
With a couple of small same number fixes in between
At this rate I don't see much else getting done before February.
Many have already gone up to the 360 beta using this method why wait ?

Yes it's a real shame.
I have been told by them via Google+ that those of us on the UK beta program will be being an update in the next few days.
It won't be the final but will be an update of some kind.
I will post on here when I get it

What's the point?
Now a good number of people are on Oreo and its pretty darn good. IMO, a custom kernel and Magisk should be enough for most people.

Does it really matter?
I believe kernel sources are released once only and there are so many devices that get ROMs and Kernels made for them - years after their official development has stopped. For eg. - If sources are released for Lollipop (and not for Nougat), LOS is also there for Nougat.
Could you please clarify and how much time will it take for an Oreo kernel (tentatively in your opinion, obviously)?
@sooti could you pitch in?
we should be thankful that we got the second latest kernel source code. this is enough for the great developer gang to get the custom kernel and rom working for MIA1.

Generally speaking any new android version simply requires a few commits to support the latest features especially security, they are usually common across all devices with some devices needing some extra patches to bring it up to oreo (usually selinux related) but for the most part its not complicated, The complex part is setting up the device tree and vendor IMO, for custom roms that is. but i'm not a huge kernel dev so i don't know.

Thanks for clearing that up. Considering many devs have switched to from other devices running Oreo, I don't think it'll be an issue then.

The phones been out for like... 2 weeks and they pushed an update the day of launch. Are you really expecting a faster update cycle than once every month from any phone?
"Still no proper Android P Beta" - For starters, Android P is a buggy mess on Pixel's right now. Hard for them to make a stable beta when Google isn't even there yet.
"No June Update" - It's 7 days into June, I'm not sure if you're aware of this but there's still like another 3 weeks left in the month?
"Treble A/B partition makes it hard on devs" - This is literally a treble problem though, not a OP problem.
Android P beta was just rushed out so that they could use it for announcements..

Hold on. Update is not suspended.. this is stable Beta ROM and some random users received it.. if everything is okay update will be rollout to everyone on Tuesday and download link will be available on MIUI download site.. this is the reason everyone may not update using updater..
This is how Xiaomi develiver software update
Since i'm on the dev build from the beginning, there is a way to make the status bar smaller... By going into setting > additional setting > accessibility > display size and change it to small.. it will make everything smaller in size
