Help with flashing stock ROM on Nokia 3.1 (Mediatek MT6750) - General Questions and Answers

I got my Nokia 3.1 in a bit of a weird situation trying to flash the stock ROM. I feel like it's a lost cause, but since I can still boot in recovery mode, there may still be a solution, I will explain in case someone can help.
It started when I tried to update from Android 8.0 to 10.0 (none of the previous OTA updates had worked and would always reboot in Oreo 8.0). This time, it didn't work and got the phone stuck in a boot loop.
The phone is still under warranty, but because I bought it overseas and there's no Nokia care centre here is New Zealand, I had no option but trying to repair it myself.
A wipe/factory reset didn't help, but after changing the active slot from B to A (using fastboot), it booted again in Oreo 8.0. Only problem is that I could no longer start a fresh Oreo 8.0 install without updating first and since all updates failed, I was stuck.
I suspect slot B is damaged or corrupt, hence the impossibility to update. To check it, I switched back the active slot to B after a factory reset, and that was not a great idea, the phone wouldn't even boot and looked hard-bricked.
But I still managed to use SP tool to download firmware, so I did that with the original Nokia 3.1 stock ROM (ES2).
However, I could not flash all files, I'm not too sure why.
I had the error message:
ERROR: STATUS_SEC_INSUFFICIENT_BUFFER
Verified boot is enabled
Please download signed image (sutinfo-verified.img) or disable verified boot
I didn't know how to do either of these, so I skipped the three problematic files: sutinfo.img, systeminfo_a.img, and cda_a.img (not sure what they do?).
It worked and un-bricked the phone, but it now boots to recovery mode only. What puzzles me is that I also no longer have access to fastboot, even when I reboot to bootloader (as if it skipped bootloader and went straight to recovery). I suspect it is because it still boots on slot B but I don't know how I can check that or change it back to slot A without fastboot access.
I tried using adb: adb shell getprop ro.boot_suffix but although it can see the device, it failed because it says device is unauthorized. I've tried all the fixes for this I found, to no avail.
So that's where I am, able to boot to recovery (but with adb unauthorized), able to flash firmware (except those files that must be signed), and unable to access fastboot.
I'm giving up hope that it's repairable, but I'd love to at least understand what happened, if someone has any idea...
Sorry for the long story...

[Completed] XPERIA Z2 Tablet Unrooted Itself?

Hi all,
I have a Verizon Xperia Z2 tablet (SGP561) that had been a Verizon store demo (fully functional). I rooted it with KingRoot to get all the Verizon crap off (I only use it as WiFi anyway), upgraded it to stock Android 5.1.1, used Super-Sume to get rid of KingRoot and set it up with my apps. I used this guide to make sure it went according to plan: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...z2-tablet-models-regions-5-t3415832?nocache=1
Everything was fine until I put an SD card in and installed Apps2SD. I don't know if either of those are the cause or that's just a coincidence.
Since then, the farthest I can get is the Verizon boot screen. I can get to TWRP, but my backup does not appear there. Factory Wipe does not have any effect. It can read the SD card.
When I tried to use FlashTool to get the FTF I put on there back, the log spat out an error message that USB debugging might not be switched on (it was) and then gave me the message "Upgrading, do not disconnect device from PC. SOftware Status: Modified". It then reboots and goes to the Verizon boot screen, where it stays forever.
So, to my questions:
Can someone point me to where I could find a suitable stock ROM to try?
It was suggested to me that I "adb a logcat while the phone is bootlooping". I'm afraid that one is over my head, so could anyone tell me how?
(I should add that when I run ADB in TWRP, it fails. It says "Updating partition details...done. Full SELinux support is present, Running boot script... Finished running boot script. MTP Enabled. Starting ADB sideload feature..." THen, after about 5 minutes it tells me it failed.)
Thanks!
Resolved
In case anyone else encounters a similar problem, creating a new FTF and reflashing worked for me (I had tried it before and it had not worked, but third time's a charm, I suppose). I used the instructions here: http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/03/1...peria-lollipop-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool/
I no longer have root, but I am on 5.1.1 and will see where I can go from here.

Bricked. No recovery or fastboot

Hey,
I need some help with this problem. I have a frd lo4 on nougat. I tried to return to stock from being rooted. The dLoad folder method wasn’t working (returned invalid package) so I unrooted via the SU app, flashed stock recovery, and went into fastboot and relocked the bootloader with the code.
Now it won’t boot or shut off. Just a bootloop showing the blue screen. I could use to access fastboot before but now my pc doesn’t detect my phone. I’ve tried different ports and pc’s. I can’t access recovery either.
Any help is appreciated
EDIT: I let the battery die, then tried going into fastboot mode and it worked. I flashed the stock recovery 1 and 2. I then used the correct rollback package and put it on my sd card then flashed. I then downloaded the full 6.0 firmware and did the same. Now I’m unrooted, locked bootloader, and stock.
Hope this helps someone.
Excatly the same thing happened to me 1 week ago.. My phone was going on bott loop in recovery mode.. I tried Dload method and recovery but nothing happened.. atlast i let the battery die. After the battery is completly dead i connexted the charger and hola the adb is working now. Then i flashed correct recovery and rom. Ecerything is working fine now.
Hi everyone!
First, sorry reviving the threadm but this one is similar to my trouble.
Second, every flash process was done with dload method and vol + - and power combination.
Third, I never unlock my phone before or flashed any custom rom or recovery, everything was stock.
Last night, I tried to rollback my honor 8 frd-al19 to emui 6.0 with proper rollback package and firmware for Android 6.0 (both official and for my model), but phone went into boot lock. It isn't boot loop, It's stuck on the Honor blue logo. I can't even turn off the phone.
I did this procedure once before with success. I was on fdr-al19c432b360 firmware 100% functional (I was an idiot to rollback again when not needed at all... I know). I applied the rollback package correctly, and then I did a mistake and flashed full c636b131 Android 6.0 firmware instead of c432b131 Android 6.0.
Phone started ok with everything working. But I noticed my bad (emui didn't find any update package from OTA, and noticed the error in version model shown) and reflashed rollback package... At this point is where I think I messed up the recoveries or something. When ended the flashing process, I copied the correct firmware (the c432b131 android 6) on dload folder and tried again to flash.... but this time phone never entered on erecovery nor recovery. Only thing I get is stuck honor blue screen. It refuses to enter on recovery or erecovery. It just reboots, vibrate twice and keeps stuck after that on honor screen.
Strange thing, is that I did this procedure once before some months ago with success, but that time I didn't make the mistake with the versions.
After panic, I tried to boot in fastboot connected to my pc, and HiSuite knows there is something connected, because it launches it self, but don't recognize the phone and says it can't be recovered. Also, Adb don't see the phone either, only fastboot.
With fastboot commands I tried to reboot into recovery and nothing happened. Then wipe cache/user data, reflash stock recovery. Everything failed with message "remote: not allowed". And of course, because I never unlocked my bootloader. Fastboot says phone locked, frp locked (was frp, don't remember now exactly).
Then, I read about to let the battery die. I did. That didn't work either, phone keeps stuck on honor blue logo.
I downloaded multitool for huawei software, and everything requires an unlocked bootloader to recover.
Then, I tried to get unlock code, but huawei site ask me product id which I can't get because phone is bricked (I have all other data, imei, serial, etc.) . Tried with id generator too, and nothing what I tried have work so far. It's frustrating.
I'm pretty hopeless now, no unlock, no recovery, no erecovery, so I can't flash anything on the damn phone to try to recover it.
Can I save my phone or is it just an expensive brick? Any help will be REALLY welcome.

Well, is a bit silly to answer yourself but this can help someone else:
I did purchase a license of 3 days of dc phoenix software and force updated version android 6.0 c432B131 on my honor 8 fdr L19.
It flashed ok, but software said that couldn't install update. On phone went to 99% for long time (more than 1 hour).
So I looking for some info, and also the software said that I had to manually update. I just copied the same rom with dload method: just the same UPDATE.APP on the folder, and tried the 3 buttons: It worked!
After a success bootup, it found inmediatelly (OTA) the update to android 7, c432b360 firmware and downloaded and installed.
Here went something strange: after updated again via OTA, everything was working ok, but on about phone, the version shown wasn't the c432b360. Instead it said something about test keys build. Just for being safe, I tried to full reset the phone and... it failed. It said failed on erecovery menu, and after that, the next boot up I couldn't pass over wifi setting menu: keyboard was missing and it just tried to talk to text input. Another panic moment, so I tried to enter on recovery to clear cache and reset user with no luck. After that, phone refused to start showing an error message on fastboot screen: "phone couldn't pass verification, it may not function properly".
What to do? just do all the things again, but just with dload method. As I was on android 7, first I installed downgrade package. Ok, it did well. After, installed again c432b131 (android 6). And finally success!.
Once again, phone ask for install OTA android 7 and I let it. Now, I just didn't tried to do a factory reset and so far is ok.... but it hasn't AOSP Android keyboard anymore. So far is working ok, everything is working: wifi, phone, 4g mobile internet, nfc, sensors, apps, gps, compass... so I'm pretty happy now, but not sure what happened when I tried to factory reset and what happened to AOSP Android keyboard.

lenovo a2109a-f Bootloop (can still access with fastboot and the bootloader..)

EDIT: title is incorrect, model is actually S2109A-F
Hi, I'm pretty novice but have searched a solid 2 days about this topic on this device.
The lenovo a2109a-f I recently got (I know, its like 4-5 years old, but for 40$, not a bad 9+" tablet) was in fine working order, but did have some bloatware. Feeling ballsy, I attempted a root, and now it boot loops, meaning it will constantly reboot and show the animated splash screen, and play the synthetic chime sound. Each loop lasts about 1-2 minutes.
Since I can still access the fastboot and the boot recovery I've tried the following:
1) attempt the install of a new rom (original ICS or JB for this device) from a micro SD card inserted into the slot
- no go, it says it mounts the sd card, but wont read from it
2) attempt factor reset (cache, factory reset etc)
- no change and same root file still shows up in the tablet "/sdcard/"
3) Rerun the flash recovery process
- Tablet seems to accept linux (from windows) commands via cmd (fastboot -i <address/commands go here>), but no change for the boot loop
4) attempted other recovery images in fastboot mode
- thought I actually damaged it more. Since it stopped boot looping but wouldn't even boot to recovery at all. I then flashed the original recovery ("CWM_S2109.img") and was able to get the bootloader back and the bootlooping behavior again.
My question for you all, is there something I need to do via the fastboot method to clear the cache of the bootloader, or the memory of the device and install the bootloader that way and hope it accepts a basic OEM rom? Again, I'm no programmer, but am able to follow instructions and would love to be able to fix my 40$ mistake here sometime. Thanks in advance for all your help. I've used a lot of your tips and resources here over the years and have learned a lot from your skills and experience.

LineageOS mtp not working, twrp lost after flash, cant boot to twrp from fastboot

hello, recently i bought myself a new op6, as it was good for modding and such. unlocked the bootloader, flashed twrp, and rooted it the day after, used it for a couple of days, before I installed elementalX. was happy with that for some days. then I decided I wanted to try out lineageOS, in order to de-google my self, in my quest for privacy.
TL;TR:
mtp is not working after flashing, neither is twrp, cant even access it through fastboot with booting the .img file.
does this have something to do with the a/b partition thing on these phones, perhaps?
I would guess that I flashed lineageOS the wrong way, and that is the issue, but since I cant access twrp, I cant restore and reflash the correct way.
more detailes below
--------------------------------------
backed up before installing elementalX, to have something to go back to, in case of failure
rebooted into twrp, and wiped everything, exept internal storage (i looked this up several places, prior to flashing, that this was the way to do it, so assumed this was the correct way)
flashed lineageOS 15.1
wiped dalvik and rebooted
took ages to boot, so figured id reboot again a couple of times, with no succsess
tried to boot to twrp, to restore back state prior to flashing, but ended up in lineageOS' own recovery.
tried to boot from fastboot, and reflash twrp
goes out of bootloader and screen turns black, led turns on, and nothing. tried waiting for a bit, but nothing seems to happen
have to manually turn of phone, and reboot. tried this several times, but same result.
after reboot i turned to the recovery to look after any solutions there, but nothing
started adb, just to check, and it says "device unauthorized"
sortof gave up, so figured I could atleast get going installing apks, but after downloading f-droid, I couldnt get it to install
found out this was some sort of permission issue, so had to move it to internal storage to get it to install
after installing some apks, I was going to transfer my contacts from my pc, but cant get mtp working..
if someone know a soulution to this, I would be really greatfull, as Im at a loss. cant seem to find anyone who has had a simillar issue..
You can always use EDL and MsmDownloadTool. Check that thread
thanks, will definetly check that out.
now it apears that I have another issue, the key for adb is no longer valid. i did get the prompt when I connected the usb, but that didnt appear to do anything. have tried to revoke it, reanable, reboot both phone and pc, also delete the keys on my pc. I have no root access anymore, so cant really enter the root on my phone, to pull out the keys there, neither can i push my own keys, as it seems atleast. I may be doing it wrong too, for all i know..
If you can enable debugging and see your phone with adb devices, you can adb push /sdcard/<romfile>.zip
I am able to enable debugging mode, yes. Will this enable me to push my own key, or any other existing key for that matter, to remove the unauthorized label?
Id also like to at that i done goofed when flashing lineageOS. Ive come to and understanding that I have to flash OOS 1.5.1 (i think that was it) on both slots, before then flashing the custom rom onto the device, and reflashing twrp after that. Which i did not do. I also were running pie at that time, so theres another mistake I made to begin with. Neither was I really aware of the concept of a/b partition system at hand..
Can i switch slots in fastboot, and then boot inton twrp, and reflash back to OOS 1.5.1, on both slots, and then reflash LOS 15.1? And ofcource reflash twrp and root afterwards, which totally slipped my mind..

Help would be appreciated

Okay. I was messing around with my firmware which I've done in the past. I've had a few problems then due to my phone model being obscure (Samsung Galaxy S6: SM-S906L). I've always had a copy of the firmware saved to my computer in the event of a bootloop or a similar issue, I figured I could just flash it with Odin to fix it. I have also done this in the past. After accidently wiping my phone, I went to re-install Magisk, but noticed my phone trying to push an update. I let it go through without much though and after it finished saw it didn't change much. I carried on with re-installing Magisk when I figured I might as well fix some problems I had with booting the phone (I would have to boot it into download mode then recovery to get it out of a bootloop each time I turned it off). I carried on with flashing my saved firmware to fix the problem. Everything flashed fine except the bootloader. It's come to my understanding now that because I let the update carry through with my phone, my saved firmware is no longer compatiable dispite the fact that it didn't change my android version. So now I have a bootloader installed that is meant for a higher update without my known ability to downgrade. Due to the obscurity of my phone model, I can't find anything to bring my firmware up to what my bootloader is at. So now my phone is stuck in a bootloop with the ability to access download mode, but recovery mode simply gives me a "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" error. I would greatly appreciate it if someone has any advise they could give me.
