This one should be working on EMUI5:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/development/twrp-t3566563/page71
There are differences between partition schemes on 5 to 8. That's why you need the correct TWRP. And btw, there is no fully working TWRP for EMUI8 for our device.

A working TWRP for Honor 8 EMUI 8 is:
[Recovery][BKL][EMUI 8.x][Unofficial]TWRP 3.2.1-0 working recovery from View 10
Backup your stock recovery per this post. If you are too lazy, I can upload my backup from .104 build (C432) to Mega. Download twrp_bkl_0.7.img from this post and place it in same directory with your ADB. After successful backup as precaution...
forum.xda-developers.com
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp_bkl_0.7.img
Even though it's for Honor View 10, It works on Honor 8 EMUI 8, even in Treble Roms
------------------------------------
And also to fix not being able to backup /data in Android 8 or in Treble Roms, you can flash this in TWRP
[Deprecated] Universal DM-Verity, ForceEncrypt, Disk Quota Disabler [11/2/2020]
Hi all! For the past couple of months, I've been looking into making a more universal solution to disable dm-verity and forceencrypt. Needing to take different zips, modify them for different devices, and then cross your fingers when you switch...
forum.xda-developers.com
This should disable dm-verity and disable forceencrypt

I think im stuck in nougat
i have updated my honor 6x to nougat through firmware finder. now this is my build no BLN-L22C675B310.
i tried to downgrade to MM but there is no roll back package for this build no
so i tried to format and wipe entire ph from twrp but the twrp from LOS download section is not booting even after completely power off then tried to boot into recovery not working. i think its for MM. so i tried twrp 3.1 berlin recovery
this time i can enter into recovery and i format data and wipe everything many times nothing happens after reboot it boots to nougat.
anyone help me

You can be happy that you have still access to the system. So is a lottery with rollback packages (ehm
edit:
How go to MM without rollback package, via TWRP:
1. download twrp for MM, flash him, reboot recovery
2. make a factory reset in twrp, reboot recovery
3. flash full firmware MM (right firmware if not sure is it right don't flash it!!!)
4. reboot recovery, twrp is now replaced from stock recovery
5. tap factory reset in stock recovery
6. reboot, done
Guys, I dont take any responsibility about your device... I always can help you but is really possible to brick your device with this method (...corrupted .zip, unconsciously change zips etc) Ok? Thx

twrp for mm is not working on N. i tried to flash all the MM twrp recoveries they are not booting only twrp for N was working but its not wiping the device.
i have some experience on these recoveries when i was in MM. you can wipe your complete system, data and everything only from twrp recovery available on LOS 13 download section. remaining all twrp will not do the job. so finally we need good twrp for N.

I updated my Honor 8 to Oreo, but the current TWRP (https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/development/twrp-t3566563) doesn't flash Magisk.zip properly, and the offical TWRP on (https://dl.twrp.me/frd/twrp-3.2.2-0-frd.img.html) doesn't seem to boot at all.
Have anybody of you made it to flash Magisk with the Oreo version?
Will there be a Treble TWRP for Honor 8??
I've also tried with Huawei P10 Lite TWRP (https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10-lite/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-oreo-t3777582) and still getting error while flashing Magisk.
Side note : I use Honor 8 L09C432 (Europe), but I rebranded it to L09C10 (Russia) as I couldn't stand to wait for the European version to release

People Said That This Twrp Works For Honor 8 Oreo Even If Its For Honor View 10, Try It:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....velopment/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3769917/amp/
hi any feedback about twrp for honor 10 view?
Thx
Tried it. Asking for password, the one I use to unlock the screen doesn't work.
TWRP is not recommended to use for treble on kirin devices. Well.. you can try it but there is not that much support like from using fastboot comands on stock recovery
you can download Magisk.apk and then follow these instructions : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-install-magisk-mate-9-running-t3773878
Try to do it with patience, dont be worried if it fails
This method is running on all oreo based treble roms and even kirin-GSI android P. I've tested the method on my FRD-ALL00, but it will work on any FRD as i know
PM me if anyone needs some additional help

Reasons for me are:
No xposed framework on EMUI 8, so no track control using volume keys and other tweaks I had before
Missing new Honor/Android security updates while we wait for official release
TWRP for EMUI 8 not loading all partitions, so not possible to do a full backup
I've tried to use the dload method, but erecovery for EMUI 5 won't flash as it is a different layout
TWRP is no good, as it can't mount the data partition

I used hurupdater to downgrade from 8 to 7. Also, you can use HWOTA. Both methods are not guaranteed if you make a mistake along the way (it can brick your phone or end up with a frp lock - there are always ways to fix those issues though).
Works perfectly, thank you.
Used hurupdater, copied EMUI 5 zip files to SD card, along with hur zip file.
Into TWRP, and installed hur zip file.
Reboot, with inevitable bootloop, so went into stock recovery and did a Reset.
Then booted fine and with adb installed TWRP, Magisk and Xposed again.

it's a recovery so magisk is your choice if you want it or not.

I had this problem before. when you flash twrp, try to reboot to twrp again. then the twrp won't be flashed by stock recovery.
is Recovery_ramdisk same as Ramdisk?
i am trying to install magisk. i want to patch the ramdisk so i can flash my phone s i can get root. my bootloader is unlocked already.
i used huawei extractor to take out partions from the firmware for my mopile, but i only found either recovery_ramdisk or erecovery_ramdisk. i didnt find ramdisk or boot in the update.app file.
here is a screen shot
https://imgur.com/b1dS3rF
As far as I guessed recovery_ramdisk.img is a combined image of boot.img and recovery.img.
can i use it to install magisk?
I am not really sure but you may need to split it into boot image and recovery image and use the boot image to use magisk. Try 7zip(google that)and try if there is luck.
by the way you are using huawei?have you unlocked bootloader(that is a hard job)?

Didnt work. Thnks for trying though.
2yrs later, LoL, so i have a mate 10 pro, i know this is 20's section
but similarly, after i would "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk magisk_patched_blah.img" it would complete, then upon power cycle, or "fastboot reboot" it would boot without root.
but when i flashed it, then hit enter right after the reboot command, immediately disconnected usb & immediately held power & vol+ until screen showed it was booting...then it booted normal, WITH root.
then allows for magisk to direct install. then it was full root. thought i would mention as that didnt happen on emui 8.0.0.137/139 for me. but after i did an update to 9.1.0.300 (i have cust 605) the rooting got a touch harder.
