Hello
As far as I remember, the official maximum microSD capacity on X2 is 56 gb, but I'm positive that some users installed successfully 128 gb microSD on this device.
Have try higher capacity? Or do you know any theorical limit?thx to you all

I had a 128gb in mine and it worked fine.

Do youuse fat32 format even for large SD?
I know many stuff about formats, and I also know that not all systems can read or write exfat, ntfq, hfs+, ext4..... Wp
So I wonder if a android microsdcard (mainly or almost only used on an unique anDroid device) has still to be formated in fat32 to be sure (and to forget 4+ gb file unfortunately, without speaking of soece size optilisation, file protecting.....)
I got a 1Tb sdxc uhs-I u3 Samsung card for the mediapad x2, which format would you recommand me (don't know if stock kernel deals with many formats.)
Thx again

[Q] Can't Android 4.0 manage two partitions on SD card?

Hi, I am moving from WinMo to Android and would like to have an offline Wikipedia, that weights 10GB. This could be handled by EXT2.
The SD card is FAT32 formatted and I would like to continue being able to access it via USB as well. So I have reduced the FAT32 partition and added a 11GB EXT2 partition. Since this change Android does not recognize anything on my SD card.

Hi,
I am fairly sure that you do not need an EXT2 partition on Android.
Why not just format the whole sd card to a single FAT 32 partition.
I am sure it will work.
I gave the explanation: Try to store a 10GB file on Fat32 !

Hi,
Sorry,my bad.
I was just thinking of 10GB OF information,not a 10GB file.
The only thing I can think of,is exfat.
But I do not know if that works on Sensation ,yet.

I tried exFAT as well: is not recognized on a Sensation.
I have just looked on anothe Android: It really looks like Andoird can't cope with partitioned SD cards. With partitioned cards it just don't recognize anything, not even the first one.

Hi,
It seems that it is not Android that cannot cope with exfat.
Rather, it is the version.
4.2.2 is able to read it on my S4.
It may be worth your while asking devs of the 4.2.2 ROMS on the Sensation when their ROMS will be able to read exfat cards.

I have read that it depends on the device vendor, since fees need to be paid to M$.
Currently i am still with a stock ROM, maybe a cooked on could do?

Hi,
That is what I was suggesting.
There are quite a few ROMS for 4.2.2 on the Sensation.
Read through the first posts to see if it mentioned or not.
And maybe even post in the thread to see if it is available,or if it is being planned.
Correct me if I am wrong, but is this not implemented on the kernel level?
Maybe talking to some kernel devs as well.

[HTC One SV] SD Card

[HTC One SV] SD Card
I found it nowhere else.
The HTC ONE SV works also with microSDXC Card. In the specs it says microSDHC cards but I operate mine since I bought it with a 64GB microSDXC card without any problems.
I have to post this here because we still have no dedicated Forum for the HTC One SV
This are good news!
Also thinking about buying a bigger one.
Which one do you use, have you a link?

Is there a way to increase the 1.1GB space for the application (EX join with the 4GB internal space). I don't need internal space for data, i usually store them in the SD.

After this mod your sd card will be recognized as internal memory and the internal around 4 GB will be recognized as sd card.
Ok... Is possible to change partition table for join application space with intrrnal space (1.1+4 GB) and use for applicazioni? So the sd could be used as external space...
Sent from my HTC One SV using xda app-developers app
I think for the moment this mod is all and the best you can do.
As i did not create it, i can't say, if there will be other variants in the future.

Nope, as far as I can remember it was detected by the phone worked.. It still works like a charm. I am using the phone now for over a year with that card and never had problems. I think I tested nearly all available ROMS for that phone and never had problems with the card. At present I am using ViperSV 1.1.1.on the phone.

See, I'm also running ViperSV 1.1.1 and when I put the card in initially it said it was unsupported or damaged. Tried reformatting it in Windows, now shows up as 59GB exFAT in Windows but still not working on the phone. Is yours formatted differently or something?
UPDATE: I'm hearing elsewhere that it needs to be formatted as FAT32 in order to work, and Windows doesn't want to format it to anything other than exFAT or NTFS (while SD Formatter only uses exFAT). Apparently there's some sort of issue with the fact that the Class 10 cards have exFAT and a mysterious 16MB hidden offset partition at the start of the drive, so I'm now gonna try getting rid of that to see if it works.
UPDATE: Yep, looks like both: 1. The phone (Android?) doesn't support exFAT without a mounting mod, and 2. That weird 16MB offset at the start of the drive seems to cause compatibility issues as well. Have wiped the offset and reformatted to FAT32, and the card now works.
Thanks for the recommendation and the quick reply!

[Q] Ext SD Card questions

Hey all, quick question regarding m8's handling of sd cards.
I have a 32gb external ssd in my vzw one m8 running LolliGPE, and I'm just wondering what the best way is to format it. I believe that if I were to format it on the phone itself it will use FAT which causes issues with my TWRP backups due to the size.
So with that being said, I think NTFS or exfat is the way to go...
do you connect the SD directly to your computer and format it there before inserting into the phone or what? i want a versatile format that i won't run into file size limitations with...
thanks for your help!

For 2 GB Fat 32 is fine. It may b that it just wasn't large enough for exfat.
I'd put it in the phone, format it, and forget about it. You'll b fine.
If u insist on changing it you can use Aparted from the play store.

128GB SD Card in Honor 6?

RE: 128GB SD Card in Honor 6?
Hi guys,
It is at all possible to use a 128GB micro sd card in the honor 6?
I'm currently on EMUI 2.3, rooted, with a 64GB card. Maybe an OS update or a mod is out there to do it?
All input will be greatly received.

Dont ask me, I have no idea. There might be some root apps that can make partitions on SD card, or you could try gParted.

Having investigated the partition idea, I came across the Link2SD app.
So i hink I'll get myself a 128GB card regardless, partition it in to two 64GB spaces, and see if one will link as internal memory.
I'll report back my findings.

Help with external SD card

So i have had the P900 for a few years now and want to try and get some use out of it. Im into photography and would like to use the tab for some light editing while on the road. My question is, will the tab be able to read a Sandisk 64gb Extreme pro SD card if i get an OTG? I am running and old version of Android, 4.4..2. I believe its original firmware only thing that was done was root. Thanks

First of all you should update to stock 5.0.2.
I'm having a 200GB card internally but if your OTG is good enough it should be able to read it of course depending on the file system it uses.
Why don't you want to insert it?
Btw my P900 is working with Lineage OS 14.1 = Nougat perfectly well.

Went ahead and updated to stock 5.0.2. Got scared there for a minute as i had done a mistake trying to flash a custom rom and took mea while to find stock rom. Now in regards to the external SD card, I use it on a Fujifilm mirrorless camera and my understanding is that the SDXC cards use the exFat format. I want to make sure, before i buy a OTG cable, that the tab can actually read the card. I want to be able to transfer pictures from said external SD card into the tab and edit them with Lightroom or Snapseed.
I also have another tab, the Samsung Galaxy 7.7 tab, and that one doesn’t read the SD card, i get an error message when i connected the sd card on its OTG. Something about “high power device” or something similar.

Afaik you can format cards like you need it.
Of course with the appropriate formater.
FAT, exFAT, NTFS, ext2, ext4.... depends on your necessities.
My P900 card was formatted exFAT and can read/write.
In other devices I use other formats (SDHX as well).
I believe I read somewhere that someone connected a 1TB portable HDD. I'll try to find it...
