GMS firmware update - Huawei P40 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello masters!
I successfully installed GMS on my P40 Pro by downgrading it to v10.1.0.131. Do we have a way to upgrade firmware version while GMS is installed?
Thank you.

By using the built in system updater

I have tried to update since I'm on. 131 version.
I checked on the built in updater and it says that I'm up to date, installed Hi suit on my PC and it says that I'm on the latest version.
I am on March security patch. Downloaded Firmware Finder but I don't know which one to select.
I have the ELS-NX9 build number. 131 and C636. How do I know which one to select

I have the same model and had no issues upgrading via built in system updater

hello bobman
just to double check, are you pertaining to the system update which can be found on settings then systems & updates?
Thank you.

Yes that is the one I used, although I received a notification for it prior to installing GMS.

Same. I am unable to receive Emui 11 after downgrade. It there a fix for this now?

if you downgrade with the hisuit proxy method, you wont get update notification

I was already at emui 11. I had to downgrade to install gms.

Can't update firmware after installing GSM

To install GSM I downgraded my P40 lite from Emui 10.0.1.236 all way down to Emui 10.0.1.108 using Firmware Finder, Hisuite proxy and Hisuite Itself.
Now after installing google, I want to update the phone to 10.0.1.236 again, but it says that the older version is the newest in the updates menu. I tried to reinstall Hisuite, tried to update with the Hisuite proxy and Firmware Finder and with builtin updater in the phone. But still... I can't update my system.
If someone knows some way to reactivate the updates on the phone please reply to this thread
Hi.
Was in the same situation. Tried multiple old firmwares with hisuite proxy, and they downloaded and worked just fine, but couldn't upgrade from them.
Finally found a suggestion on a German forum that worked.
Using the OTG software install method, download a firmware from easy-firmware(dot)com and install that. Be very careful what software you donwnload as you could brick your device.
This worked for me, installed version 144 for my P40 Pro Plus, got immediately a software update notification to 156. Delayed that, done the GMS install, restarted, updated to 156, and then, because I was in thebeta, updated to EMUI 11. All good.
Please be aware that the site is requiring money for the downloads, and that I am in no way affliated with them. It's your own decision what to do

Did you ever figure it out? My p40 lite is doing the same thing on 10.0.1.108 as well
OTG install a complete firmware. There is no other way.
Working perfectly ever since I wrote the previous post, upgraded from the Emui11 beta to the final without issues.

Will this remove the Googlefier install ?
Yeah, you have to completely reset and erase the phone, flash the oldest firmware you can find through OTG, then after booting stop the automatic updates from settings.
Then apply Googlefier and after everything is working fine, only then update.
I had a hard time finding the firmware files for OTG, maybe you're luckier.
So basically, I have 10.0.1.108 installed currently with Googlefier installed.. I'm not able to update the emui via hisuite/proxy, fails the install. So then I need to do OTG install of a fullota emui and then reinstall Googlefier? I guess anything newer than .108 should be ok?
Yes, but be careful, try picking an older software, or you won't be able to use Googlefier. It fails with the latest updates, so your best bet is install it on an older one and then update.
A reinstall of your version 108 or something a bit newer should work.

Update issues after Downgrade

Hi all, I have downgraded my p40 pro to 131 to get google apps working. Then tried auto updates and it tells me that there is an update but same version 131, updated to 131 using auto update but it still keeps telling me that I'm on 131 and same version of update available. Connected to PC and use Hisuite and same story, tells me 131 update available (which I already have) and nothing else. Was able to update to 154 using proxy but now same story, it keeps telling me that 154 update available which I did auto update but I still get notification that I there is new update to 154. I cleared data and cache both for Huawei Core and Update app but still same story.
Please help!?!
You will need to use Hisuit Proxi & firmware finder to get more upto date firmware.

Select Full, and use the check availability option to make sure its an approved for install as well, else it will fail.

thanks, another question is, will it wipe off the phone?
When I did mine, No. But remove or backup any personal stuff off your memory card if you have one, just in case. Note if you've done the GMS install, make sure you log into All you're accounts, ie YouTube etc first before upgrading firmware. Cause you won't be able to add later.

Update: Ok found it, it is via the advance button and paste the link there to check if it's approved or not.
Is this done via the HiSuit Proxy Advance button? how can i check if it's approved or not?
Use firmware finder to check it's an approved version.

Hmmm we are all on C636. No idea what went wrong. Only difference is 4RP1 and 5RP1. Any difference in those?
Same situation here, I downgrade to version 131 o install GSM and now the phone won't update.
I had to update it using HiSuite and now I'm on 183 version.
Hope there is a way to fix the OTA updates on the phone.
getting regular updates after installing GMS via googlefier
Doing some research I have found what is happening:
On your P40 Pro, in the "About phone" screen you can see the build number and then a number between ( ), example: Build number 10.1.0.131 (C636E8R5P1)
The number after the C will tell you the version or region of your firmware, in the example C636 = version/region 636
When you downgrade using a different version/region you will loose the OTA updates on the phone, and this will only be restored after you install your correct version/region firmware.
You will need to find the correct version of your firmware and have the "dload" version, and install it from external card. There is a video showing how to do this, but the link on the video is for a version/region 636, if you have a different version/region it won't fix anything.
Once you have the correct firmware and install it, you will begin receiving OTA again. This process, at least on my phone, erased everything, so be aware of this.

Which firmware should I install from FF? Latest avaible in FF or 10.1.0.270?
Search about your phone model, LIO-LGRP2 or LIO-LGRP4 (I don't know what model you have); once you know the model, search latest update, FullOTA (almost 4-5Gb).
Thanks. I will try this.
Be sure you choose the corect firmware, for exactly your phone model.
Right model, latest update, FullOTA.
Follow exactly the steps you need to do, from the presentation of HiSuite proxy method.

Downgraded to 131, installed GMS using Googlefier, now cant update firmware

I downgraded my p40 pro firmware to 131 and then installed GMS using googlefier. Everything is working as expected apart from when I search for firmware updates within both the settings menu of the phone and also the latest version of hisuite, its telling me 10.1.0.131 is up to date and the latest firmware version. Should I just leave it on 131 or should I update the firmware via another method?
Oh Ive just seen this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/update-issues-after-downgrade.4182407/#post-84014451, but even the latest version of hisuite on my laptop is telling me I have the most up to date firmware version. I thought it only stopped the OTA updates.
Try to get HiSuite 10.0.0.550 and upgrade with proxy method, if can't get a normal upgrade.
That means to use Firmware finder ... search about that.

How to update ELS-LGRP4-OVS C432?

After downgrading and installing GMS it seems to be so that OTA or Hisuite updates does not work anymore.
So far I have updated the phone to 10.1.0.183 using Hisuite proxy.
Would be nice to get the OTA updates working again, or get a newer version via Hisuite proxy.
Any suggestions?
Same situation here, i downgrade my phone from emui 11 to .131 to get GMS, i just can update to this same version via HISUITE HISUITE PROXY, but nothing neewer. my phone is C605E83RP1
Downgraded today back to 10.1.0.131 with hisuite proxy, then installed vanced, gms, and all the apps again.
Also got immediately two ota updates, and now the phone is on ver. 11.0.0.151.
So downgrade does not break ota updates, it is the hisuite proxy updates which breaks ota updates.
Hey, after installing Emui11, did google survive? I am at the moment 10.1.0.176 and it offered me 11. Should I update? Will google remain with youtube/maps working on my phone?
Thanks in advance for response.

Emui11 is based on the same android 10 as emui10.
My phone's gms is still working in emui11 like it worked in emui10.
