Any issues with Google pay for unlocked bootloader? - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

I have Tmobile Oneplus 8. I haven't unlocked the bootloader yet. Will I have any issues with Google pay with unlocked bootloader if I'm going to unlock it?
I'm using company secure email app on my phone as well. If I have any issues, will I be able to lock the bootloader?

I don't know about tmobile version. But i have unlocked bootloader + root on oos11 and google pay is working fine here

I'm trying stock with locked bootloader and no root for the first time in maybe 8 years, but I've always got everything to work. You tried hiding it in Magisk?

You can, with msm tool, it relocks bootloader and factory resets everything to stock.

Root on locked bootloader

His guys just got the xzp and wow what a phone my only concern is root I have a locked bootloader and it's not unlockable but to be fair I've never unlocked a Xperia bootloader due to loosing drm keys etc
So my question is will we be able to get root on locked bootloaders like we did with past Xperia phones or are we stuck unless we unlock which in my case would mead no root ever :crying:
Thanks
Probably not would be my guess. You still need to unlock bootloader on previous models such as XZ/XZS.

Darn I love this device too but to never be able to have root might be a deal breaker
In service menu it says unlock bootloader allowed no but in developer options it give me the option to unlock the bootloader does this mean it's possible for me to unlock the bootloader

So what your saying is they maybe a work around getting root ect on locked bootloaders?
Thanks again
Like always, if a security breach is found on Android that allow getting root access, it will be possible to backup the DRM partition, then after if you like, unlocking the bootloader and then restore your DRM partition.
At least, it finished like this for the Z5, but you had to downgrade to Lollipop to get root access.
AFAIK, there is no known way to get root on Nougat today.

So there is the Dirty Cow exploit that seems pretty pervasive and promising.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/security/dirty-cow-t3484879
EDIT: Nevermind I'm an idiot, I didn't realize the dates on dirty cow.
Question still stands though, do we know if there is anyone on the XZ Premium working on it?

I don't think so, there will be more involved ppl when XZ1 will be released, since it's the same specs

It's not possible anymore. You really need to unlock the bootloader in order to root. Something about patching the kernel.

Buying Verizon Pixel, have some questions

Hello guys.
I'm going to buy used and bootloader unlocked Verizon Pixel tomorrow and I'm interested in couple of things:
1. Can I flash all the ROMs that are available for Pixel on Verizon version too?
2. Can I properly install TWRP, root using Magisk, etc?
3. Can I properly flash (and downgrade if needed) official system images (and are they ever available for Verizon models?)
4. Can I take part in Android Beta program?
5. Is there anything I should be afraid of?
Thanks in advance.
Make sure it is bootloader unlocked, and not just SIM unlocked. There are not many VZ ones around that are bootloader unlocked. You need that to do the items on you list.

As I already stated, bootloader is already unlocked.
No one has an answer?
If it's bootloader u locked then yeah u can do all those things. Just do not ever for any reason ever relock the bootloader. Also I believe there have been a few cases where ppl have had semibricks or other issues which required locked stock to fix or somehow resulted in locked stock
I got a replacement about a month ago on my small Pixel and that one was unlocked. However, the one I got from Verizon in store did not have an unlocked bootloader. I'm not sure what the deal is, but maybe getting a replacement from an "accidental" break might do the trick. just to clarify, my first Pixels' usb port got completely fried and started to smell bad whenever it charged, and the phone would get really hot. I am now on 8.1 with an unlocked bootloader but have yet to actually root the phone

I just realized that when I boot up the phone, it shows the "Redmi by Xiaomi" and below it says unlocked, (IDK if it has any relation). But the Developer options say that BL is locked and OEM Unlocking can be enabled. What does this mean?
This is same with me miui 11 stockrom
Magisk flashing creats bootloader locked
If i uninstall magisk it show unlocked again
Even Netflix installation works by this in playstore

Well that's cos at one point you had unlocked your bootloader and might have dirty flashed MIUI or used fastboot images, which aren't able to recognise the state. But in reality it remains unlocked and it just shows locked in the settings.

Yes true. It is unlocked. The unlocked message at boot verifies that bl is unlocked.

I apologize if this is a bit too late, but I have a follow up question. Can I try to unlock the bootloader even if it's really unlocked just to connect my account to my phone or something like that?

If it's unlocked, the Mi account is already linked tho.
Even if you try you won't see a difference, maybe the unlocked symbol might come up.

Woah. Unauthorised seller eh. Are you sure you are running the Orginal MIUI? The reason Xioami started locking away the bootloader was cos of these unauthorised sellers, unlocking the device and flashing it with an outdated ROM. You should try, Go to Developer settings, link your current Mi account and then proceed to unlock. Or if it says an acc is already linked, lock the bootloader (only if on MIUI Stock, Custom ROM would lead to a bootloop), and now go link your account. (Do take backups before proceeding)

Well, I did flash the latest MIUI Indian Global ROM a few weeks back so maybe I am running Original MIUI?
But I'm still gonna try to "unlock" it. And is there an option to keep all data after the unlock?
EDIT: I just read the Mi Unlock Tool's disclaimer and how they say some features won't work after the unlock. I mean, I know mine is unlocked but I think I'll just keep those features.

Usually the first time you unlock it wipes your internal storage , but it doesn't wipe it in the subsequent unlocks (as far as I've tried). Yep it doesn't actually affect any system functions.. everything is as smooth as before..Find my device works fine as well..the only risk is that if your device gets stolen they could easily wipe MIUI and bypass that account lock by flashing a custom ROM.

Once you pay off the phone. It can then be sim unlocked. The other way is to pay someone to sim unlock the phone.

Apparently you are out of luck without root, but if you want to do one thing from relocking bootloader and rooting, rooting would be easier.
Also if you brick your device you would still have options if you have unlocked bootloader.
