Hi,
It has been a week since i bought my s7. I was not quite pleased with the battery life. It was just ok. But now it is getting worse.
battery is 10% at the time of writing this.
Total usage is 22 hours
Screen on time is 3 hours
Android system is taking 23% battery
Screen 19 %
Facebook 17 %
Is this normal? I was expecting atleast 4 to 5 hours SOT?
I have the AOD turned on. Sync is always off. I dont even have the mobile data turned on. I mostly use wifi for facebook and browsing.
Any suggestions on how to improve it?
Aod takes 1% in 1 hour. Facebook takes too much but its known issue. Facebook knows that too and making fix right now. You can disable and enable it and then it will be ok.

Though I own a S7 Edge, the following is from my experience with Note II & S2. I am not facing this with S7 Edge.
When I get a new device or get updates, I do a factory reset and start over. Just clearing the cache doesn't help.
I am using Package Disabler Pro to disable apps when not required and it doesn't require root access.

Disable aod. Aod doesn't let doze kick in. So idle drain with AOD is 2-3% per hr.

Hello, I'd like some help about battery drain too.
I've been using my S7 for 4 months and never made factory reset after the OTA updates.
Today, for example, the battery level fell down from 100 to 43% in 6 hours.
I've taken some screenshots from battery usage screen and the items described inside de Android System item, which is the most drainer one.
If you could give me your thoughts and forgive my poor English, I'd appreciate!
I had the complete opposite to you, well in the first few weeks anyways. It would take like an hour to kill like 3% and I left my phone at 60% once, left it overnight without charge and only dropped 2% - This was the case a number of times
Fjesuino. I wiped my cache, and the battery time did improve a little. Try it out, it might work. But i think there is something wrong with your device android system and sd shouldn't be that high.

S7 Exynos and back then I didn't really use AOD. It wouldn't be fair to show battery usage right now though as I'm using quite a heavy custom kernel.
As well as all the other tips you're getting above, I'd recommend flashing the Hydra ROM onto your phone as there are a lot of features to save battery. It ports to the Note 7 and you get features like reducing screen resolution, reduce background processes, it's even got its own RAM manager.
Personally, I don't see the battery as that much of an issue though and I do bash my phone a lot through the day as well.
Have you got a lot of apps installed? Do you have a SD?

The phones here in pakistan are mostly "smuggled" or imported. I have an imported one from canada g930w8, so it's without warranty.
But i dont want to root it, i have used many custom roms on previous android devices. i personally dont like third party ROMs that much. So i'll just debloat the current one.
Thanks for your suggestion ?

Playing Candy Crush for 22 hours straight can take its toll on your battery (and your marriage). Rate this thread to express how the Samsung Galaxy S9+'s battery performs under heavy use. A higher rating indicates that it lasts a long time even when playing games, streaming video and audio, and doing other CPU-intensive activities.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
About 3-4h of heavy use, about the same of what you can expect from the old s8+. I'm sure you can tweak that a bit when you fiddle with power saving modes and display resolution.
The S9+ doesn't have the best battery life. If you expect this phone to last you all day on a heavy usage you will be disappointed. If you need something that lasts all day under heavy use then the Mate 10 pro would be ideal. Another option would be the pixel XL 2.
I think the battery life is pretty good on the S9+. I spent the day on wifi but the screen on time in on par to when I had the Pixel 2 Xl.

depends on what you are using it for. in my experiences, bluetooth is a drop in the bucket when compared to screen brightness and background syncing/processes

Coming from a pixel 2 XL I completely disagree. I averaged at least 2 hours more screen on time then my pixel ever did at its best in my standby time is better than the pixel. I didn't buy it for that reason but it's a nice extra

yes this is a normal phenomenon if you use the phone continuously without a changeover or just a minimum break. nothing new under the sun. try not to use the phone and your results. This can normally be achieved at Exynos at any time.
A request to all: whoever posts battery endurance, plz mention the following :
1. Exynos version or Snapdragon version.
2. The entire lists of tweaks such as
applying of black theme , wifi Scanning off or not, data/wifi both on or one is off, nearby device Scanning is on or off, whether wifi power saving on or off, how many email accounts r in use and how many are in sync and what all are in sync, gallery etc r in sync to cloud or not, location method is in high accuracy/battery saving/GPS only, "improve accuracy" is on or off, if any power saving is enabled, "smart stay" and other measures in advanced feature settings are on or off, if any package disabler or manually disabling stuff via adb etc.....
3. Single or dual sim used.
4. Show the screenshot in full using "scroll capture".

Hi All,
Is anyone getting really bad standby drain on the Exynos version? Soon as I take the phone off 100% charge within minutes of checking it again it falls down to 98% with nothing running or in the background. Last night while I slept for 8 hours it lost 11% which 0 apps running in the background. Please let me know cheers.

Hi I've had the same experience with the note 10+ s20 ultra and now note 20 ultra, at work today on lte connection I got 2.5 hours sot over 12 hours at the end of which my battery was empty. This might improve when the software learns my usage patterns but I found there's nothing you can do about the standby drain, the only 2 brands in my experience with good standby battery life are Huawei and apple.

Yeah I had the exact same issue with my note 10 plus even with learning usage which I sent back. Just come from the Huawei Mate 20X which had the best battery life to this. Hopefully it may improve otherwise I can't see myself keeping it.
I had the P30 Pro and the battery life was far better than this. Let's hope it improves over the next few days.
Just installed the new update which may help.
4h normal use (about 1h screen on), the battery dropped from 90% to 50%
The standby drain is really bad. Really hope after few days of usage it can improve tremendously
4% overnight only.
Yesterday, 6 hours SOT. 7am to 10pm. 120hz. Typically getting 5 to 6 hours SOT.

How does Auto Brightness affect the standby battery drain? I am curious.
When you go out doors day time or sunshine your screen automatically goes full brightness so it will drain battery quickly. Keep your screen brightness low or medium
Now I'm past the first week or so I'm having no battery issues. Happy as usual with my next Note!
I get around 3% battery drain in around 7 hours overnight, but then at work I might not use it for an hour and its drained 3 or 4 %. Maybe alot to do with signal.
If you used the S21 Ultra as primary driver and then upgraded to the S22 Ultra, how's your experience with the S22 Ultra purely in terms of batterylife? Do share your thoughts. Thank you.
my experience, bad. In reviews, they claim that there is a 5-10% reduction, but in my opinion, it is at least 20% worse

That is correct. I used to get similar endurance on S21 ultra. I sold it after 3 months as I wasn't happy with the camera and pro mode. Granted last year..there wasnt great smartphone cameras that were made..except 13 pro Max
it started off worse for me on the s22 ultra but has improved, i believe its slightly better now than the s21 ultra, battery life for me is like a rollercoater, some days i come out of a 10hr shift in work and ive only lost 15% and other days i lose nearly 45% so i cant explain what happens on certain days
I had the s21u and in the beginning it was the same or a bit worse on some days...Had the phone now for almost 2 weeks and compared to the s21u it's much improved. With my day to day use I could get 24 hours max on a charge with about 4 hours sot. With s22u I get with the same usage patterns at least 36 hours on a charge with 6 hours sot....There are some days of heave use with camera/video recording that it would last at the most 24 hours...This includes +- 6 hours when I sleep of idling of the phone

With such a huge difference, probably the usage pattern wasn't similar at all with the S21U or it was configured differently in settings or battery in the S21U depleted a lot I would say.
Actually the usage and setup was basically the same....for some reason my battery life was mediocre on the s21u....there were days when I got better battery life, but that didn't happen that often
Terrible compared to the S21U

With this Combination you get at least 30% more Battery Life or even double or more.
Just don't be a Victim Noob of preinstalled Software. lol.
I am getting similar battery life when Im not using my Galaxy Watch4. Syncing with the watch seemed to have been killing my battery much faster. Of course I havent reconnected the watch yet for like a week already because of that. It is possible it is a coincidence that the battery life improved at the same time I got tired of wearing the watch all the time.
So far the poll suggested that S21U had better batterylife.
Some web reports suggest that after installing the GOS disabling update("AVC9" build) the batterylife has improved. This is not mentioned in the changelog. Take it with a pinch of salt, install the update and observe if it's actually true..
Mine isn't bad. The pic shows 5h50m SOT with 37% battery remaining. My brightness slider is at around 33%. I've debloated a bunch of system apps with ADB and also I've used deep sleep on all apps I don't need notifications from #exynos

And do you think that doing a hard reset and setting it up as new can improve the battery?
I lost 5 or 6% overnight, and after last week's update that's been reduced to 3%
I have poor reception at work and even there I have way less drain now, so I'm a happy camper.
Sounds like some app(s) that are draining too much battery imo.

You should check which apps comsume battery too much, then decide what to do next.
When i first started i weren't happy at all with the battery drain. It barely used to last with 5hrs or so of screen on time! (Light usage too)
After the first 4 days it got better. I used an app called Alliance Shield X, which i believe helped me a lot. Now I'm happy with my battery drain.
Edit: Also the Galaxy Max Hz App.

Galaxy Max Hz allows you to adjust screen refresh rates (highs and lows), and a few other settings like lowest hz on screen off/Aod refresh rate
Instander is just some 3rd party Instagram with additional features, lol. I don't use it a lot so i can't say for certain, but looking at the stats, it seems to be a decent drain
