Anyone having issues with the flip camera?
Mine worked fine when the phone was new, but now it flips _almost_ all the way up, then complains about camera being obstructed. When I gently push it back/forward I cannot feel anything obstructing the camera.
Same thing when i try to flip it back down.
I'm not sure if one of the many OTA:s has caused this or some other degradation from usage..

No change unfortunately
Have you tried the recalibration option?
Hello, maybe the next firmware will help you WW_29.13.7.47
Are you using a screen protector with black borders? Those tend to trigger the sensors, which is why the flip camera thinks something is in the way
I ended up doing an RMA with Asus and they replaced the motor. I assume it had become damaged somehow. I was not charged for the repair.

Hi to all,
I sent my TF to rma to repair some lightbleed and bad assembled screen (light from border).
They repaired it well but they forgot to properly attach everything inside, if i move the tablet i can hear something moving inside... seems a maracas :S :crying:
I'm sending it to rma again, but today i casually opened photo app and while switching from photo to video i heard a "double click sound". Is that normal or i have to report also that to rma service?
Thanks
The camera sounds are normal, I'm pretty sure - at least I always had them and they always seemed fine. It happens when you switch between front and back cameras or from video to camera...
Yeah, you can disable it if you have the AOKP rom in settings.
Hi all,
I wasn't able to find any threads related to this in the S6 forums but I wanted to see if anyone else has this. When I open my camera app, sometimes the camera takes 1-2 seconds to initially focus and during that time it makes a loud buzzing sound. It sounds like a focus motor or something in the camera and the camera output on screen flutters while it focuses. Once it focuses, everything is normal and it doesn't make any more noise to refocus. This also doesn't happen every time I open the camera app, seems mostly random. Has anyone else experienced this? I am already on my 2nd S6 since the first was defective for different reasons and I'm starting to get very disappointed with Samsung quality control.
I have the dame problem.
I don't know if this is normal.
I don't think so
Waiting for some explanations

going to bumps this too because after having the phone for a month this problem has just started to show its face.
I've first noticed a small buzzing just after a boot for 3/4 times and than I had a long one opening the camera. After that it's gone...
I have it also! Started a couple of days ago. I have dropped my phone a couple of times. What about you?
Had this happen for the first time today also. Had hdr off, switched back on and it went away. Coincidence? Phone never dropped.

Relax...is the mechanism of optical stabilization.

I have the same problem. It is also sometimes accompanied by the picture wiggling in wave patterns.

Try to clean up your camera lens.
Did your device take some damage in the past?
Did you take it underwater? (The S6 isn't waterproof anymore...)

But it's not that loud.
Otherways, you can't record videos properly, because the microphone records those sounds.

Same problem here since last week.[emoji26]
I tried hard reset and another camera app (Google photo), nothing work.
I think it's a hardware problem, it occurs after shaking the phone and launching the camera.
I feel that the OIS makes more noise when app is off.

This started happening with my S6 today. I think it's the OIS that poops out. I can make this happen with a light tap with my finger on the backside of the phone with the camera open and using the rear camera. And this happens with all camera apps: Samsung's bundled camera, Snap Camera and Camera FV-5.
Update: ..and just as sudden this started happening, it went away again. I hope it's a bug - with a fix in 5.1.1.
Update 2: No, it didn't go away. It comes and goes. I may need to take the phone to the service centre.
Mine has gotten worse. Almost every time I open the camera now, I have the buzzing.
Just checking in to say that mine started doing this, too, about four weeks after getting it. It does it randomly when I open Snapchat, too.
I am having this problem too on the Sprint version sometimes it is pretty loud. I'm planning on taking to service center I think.
I also get the waves before it focuses. I read on another forum that someone said they went to a Samsung service center and Samsung replaced their OIS sensor so I'm guessing this may not be something that is simply part of the design.
*Update #1*
I just got off the phone with Samsung customer service. The representative actually heard the buzzing from my phone over the phone while I was talking to her. Since the phone is still under factory warranty they are emailing me a shipping label to send the phone back for repair.
I also have Asurion insurance through Sprint but do not want a refurb for a phone that is less than a month old with no damage caused by me.
Unfortunately the turn around time from Samsung is about a 5 business days and that was after they told me 9-11 days in which I said I couldn't be without a phone that long.
So, I plan on going to Sprint to see if they will swap out my phone for a brand new one. I think if it is a manufacturer defect they will replace the phone without going through insurance for a refurb but I am not positive. It they won't swap it out for a new one I will go through Samsung.

Yes it appears to be hardware related.

I tried and initially it doesn't seem to happen when the mega pixels are lowered but I haven't tested extensively.
I went to Sprint today and the technician concluded that he was ordering me another phone so definitely seems hardware related.

On rooted Developer Edition Ultra:
Is there any additional procedure needed after replacing the rear camera module? The phone has random camera busy/restart errors. Attempting to isolate apps via SafeMode was inconclusive. So, I decided to disassemble the phone and re-seat the camera ribbon cable - after reassembling, the camera works for a day or two - then the error appears for a while.
Thinking that it might be a failure of a camera component itself I replaced the module with a new one (bought from eBay) yesterday and when reassembled/rebooted - the new camera did not appear. I reinstalled the original camera which is currently working.
FYI - all ribbon cables are aligned, clips tight etc.
When I have some time I will reinstall new camera again and reflash with 4.4. Does anyone know if a new module needs to be 'initialzed'? My assumption was that installing the like component would simply 'work'.
Here is my experience when my rear camera started failing. The cause was from a drop, landed face down with a case, no visible damage, not a single scratch. After a few days, the camera start failing to initialize. I can get it to work by squeezing on the back case just right. Opened it up and started playing with the ribbon, taking the entire motherboard out, etc. Ended up replacing the camera and still the same. The cause I believe was a hairline fracture to the motherboard caused by the drop. I was still under warranty and Motorola replaced my phone no questions asked. I used the website so I never even spoke to anyone. So, that was my experience with this issue.

Thanks Johnny - that sounds familiar - my XT1080 took a hard fall once. Camera problems started after but I always attributed the issue to the move from 4.2 to 4.4. Camera is working well right now though I do have to restart the phone every day or so. Before I used to have to press on the phone back below the camera. Your symptoms are almost identical to mine.
The issue I had after replacing the camera was that the rear facing camera did not appear in the app after reboot - only the front facing camera. When you tried the new camera was it recognized immediately by the phone?
This Ultra D.E. is my 'daily driver' it does everything I need - it's out of warranty and sending it to MOTO for repair will cost $183. If I don't sort it out with another camera, I will assume that the motherboard is at fault (that of course was my next assumption). Thanks for confirming the problem.
I'll post a follow-up as soon as I either fix it or send it to MOTO.
It should just pick it up. There usually ins't anything you need to do. My guess is that there is some type of micro fracture, and when you installed the new camera it affected it just right, not letting android detect it. Try it again. Either that, or the camera you received was DOA, or has its own problems with the cable etc... hard to tell.
Try taking a good close look at the motherboard, maybe with a magnifying glass, see if you notice any small lines or breaks.
The more frustrating issue im facing is, sometimes, (not all thr time) camera's reverse rotation is not fully occuring and stops still little out side the housing at the same time the camera module is loose enough to go inside the housing and comes out little bit when the phone faced downwards in the air.
If anyone has the same problem, please let me know
EDIT: my phone is running on latest firmware
There is a calibration tool in Settings. It may fix your problem.

No problem here.
Check if your Flip Camera and its metal dock is clean.
Calibrate Flip Camera and check functionality.
Service it.
I also have a problem
The camera thinks something is blocking it when i try a fast flip even if nothing is there and says impossible to flip. Sometimes it works.
I cannot calibrate it because of this problem
And it seems clean.
If i drive the camera manually it works but i can see the beginning of switch is a bit hard.
Retracting camera always works well.
All ideas are good to try
Just like that, out of the blue no more rear camera. When you try to launch app, it just instantly crashes. This happens with 3rd party camera apps as well.
When I'm checking hardware with apps like aida64, droid info and devcheck there are no rear camera, it's not detectable.
Cache clear, app disable, safe boot, hard reset does not solve this issue.
I see two options: 1) Google in last system update included firmware upgrade for camera that totally screwed it up; 2) it's really faulty rear camera (I hope not)
Apparently I'm not alone, but I couldn't find anywhere on the web complaining about it. Is it really isolated case?

I'm on the latest system update, and have had no camera problems. Sounds like you may have a faulty camera.
I'm on the latest as well with no issues. As mentioned, this screams failed camera. When repairing other phones and leaving a camera ribbon disconnected I experienced the exact same crashes with camera related apps.

Can it be that small slide from bed to floor could break camera? I would be shocked if that is true. Pixel phones are even more fragile than iphones.

Apparently it can.
Brought today to repair shop. Guy said that camera socket had cold solder joints. This would explain why small drop would cause socket failure, but should I believe him? Lets see after repair. This will offset me for 70€ , ouch. Also, he said that flash was burned???? What? Phone is month old and I never used flash.
It seems that Google phones have issues with quality control.
