Yeah, weird issue, make sure you report it to Oneplus so it gets patched next update. Since it's the first Android 11 stable there still are some bugs

Hi guys, using my Nexus 5 I noticed the brightness was very inconsistent, even with auto brightness turned off the screen seems to dim occasionally and then go back to full brightness during use.
Have you noticed it too, and is there any way to stop it from happening? I would really like to be able to enjoy the beautiful screen at full brightness without it going dim randomly, thanks.

Yes I noticed it too, but don't know if it is a software bug or a feature to prevent from overheating (like Samsung devices do) or a hardware problem. It is quite annoying!
I am currently running the April 22 cm12.1 official nightly and am experiencing screen flickering at lowest brightness. What I mean by flicker is the brightness goes up and down 1-2% every time I scroll. Adaptive brightness and all live display are turned off.
The situation is similar to this :https://youtu.be/-U5uClIJnnY

Go into your settings - Display and lights - LiveDisplay - and deactivate "Reduce power consumption" This worked for me.
Hello everyone,
I noticed that after updating my Mate 8 to Android 7, my screen seems to have an Auto brightness functionality going on, even though I've turned auto-brightness off.
For example, when my screen is in direct sunlight, I notice that my apps are brighter, and when I cover my light sensor they become darker even though my brightness is set to max all the time.
Anyone know why this happens?

There is an option in developer options
Please check the screenshot.
Increase visibility under sunlight
Check if this option is turned on. If it is on then switch it off and see if your problem is resolved. :good:

Hey, thanks! I didn't know that option was there.
I've turned it off now, and I'll see if this fixes my issue.
When auto brightness is enabled and I'm viewing the phone in direct sunlight, the maximum brightness seems to change really quickly. It brightens and dims quickly, almost qausing a feeling of screenflicker.
With auto brightness off, the problem is non existent.
It only happens when the phone hits 100% brightness. Anyone noticed this. And is there a solution other than turning auto brightness off?
Yes I noticed this today just got mine today and sat out in sun with auto brightness on it was flashing like mad ,

For me autobrightness is useless. Simply too dark in all conditions. Also max brightness is not enough for when you have direct sun on the screen.

I have noticed the same, it's usually too dark for my taste.. would be nice if you could config how dim it goes automatically.
O saw the flickering in sunlight as well. Probably a bug
I finally gave up and installed the Lux app. Hopefully they will solve the issue in the next updates.

You're all insane. This phone has the best auto brightness I've ever used. It's very responsive without changing so fast that it becomes an issue in flickering light conditions like walking past trees where sunlight filters through or something.
I have the same problem, yes.
OLED displays have two "maximum" brightnesses; the normal maximum, which is intended for full-time use, and High Brightness/Sunlight Mode, which maxes the pixel brightnesses out for temporary outdoors full-sunlight usage.
The OP6 might have the threshold for what it considers "full sunlight" set too high, which would cause a lot of flickering in the event that the phone isn't held perfectly still in sunlight because of the light sensor output dancing back and forth across the threshold.
There's probably no changing it until someone rolls out a custom kernel in which it can be disabled or tweaked, in the meantime you can find auto-brightness apps on the Play Store that let you set custom curves (note that this'll probably require root). Hopefully OnePlus will fix it in the stock kernel themselves, terrible auto-brightness can make or break a phone in my opinion : \

I would not hold your breath. It was an issue on the 5t and not sorted during the time I had it.
Can't say I've noticed the issue on the 6 though with adaptive brightness mode enabled
Couldn't agree more autobrightness seems too dark on my op6. Under direct sunlight, I have to disable auto and full the bar myself..
Auto-Brightness is too dark for me too... Hope OnePlus will be updated this, or add the possibility to adjust the Auto-Brightness.
The minimum auto-brightness can be adjusted from the slider, it will still be auto increasing when needed but it won't go below your threshold.
I'm testing this for a few days and it's working perfect, the minimum was also to low for me initially.
I've tested the auto-brightness with a flashlight:

EVERYONE WITH BRIGHTNESS ISSUE,
There are No problems with screen, it's flawless.. Although people dealing with auto brightness issue, should disable the night mode.. Cause when night mode is active, auto brightness tends to use more dark screen as dark as possible..
Regards.

I never said I have problems with the screen. Auto brightness is causing issues at Max brightness.
Night mode is off. Thanks for your comment though.

Actually I like yellow tinted screen(warm colors) , for that I enabled night mode. Since then I was facing problems like too dark in direct sun on auto brightness. Too dark even in room. Today I accidentally turned off night mode while showing handset to my friends.. And voila brightness got up nd up nd up... I tried in direct sunlight, now I don't have any problem viewing my handset even after wearing shades..
If there is still problem in ur auto brightness then bro I strongly suggest u to compare ur handset with other op6 cause it could be a manufacturing defects... I heard a developer got flickering issues, he returned handset..
Regards.

Nope. Is bad
I have auto tightness issue also. Have not noticed flashing, but screen dims often. Even when using phone, and in a steady lighted area such as indoors.
Appears to be an issue with the Always on Display. Disabling that should resolve the issue.
See detail below;
Frozen screen - Android Auto Community
by the way feel free to spam their support email as this issue has been going on too long!

Solution : enable developer options, and enable keep screen on while charging.
yup screen on = no Always on display..
though also battery and burn in aint good...
Screen will remain on, but brightness will drop to minimum level as the phone is left idle. When looking at the phone while driving, it looks almost off, the home screen is barely visible.
would be great if someone could build a tasker or Automate task that turned off AOD when AA is running.. though you prob need Root..
Anyone having a issue after C62 update of it just now not connecting at all?
jipp here.
android auto refuses the connection after the update.
My head unit is trying to connect while oppo is asking which usb type should be choosen (load/ android auto/mtp or so)
Selecting android auto results in a connection abort and a short vibration.
Already cleared app data, cache and even reinstalled android auto with no effort.
wow oppo really sucks..
just got CPH2025_11_C.53 - android auto is working flawless again

Hi guys,
I have a Find X2 Lite with CPH2005VF_11_C_78..
after the android 11 update android auto start to freeze switching apps (ex from maps to spotify a 15 seconds black sceen) or when navigating has to turn direction (the cursor start flickering and after a while the navigation resume).
Is this a similar problem to yours? any suggestion?
my oppo f1s always turn off even after restart, how to fix my boss?
Images on the lock screen, crash the Android Auto. It is an OS problem. Here is what to do, till the problem is solved :
-Go to Settings, Security, Smart Lock and and your car a trusted device. That way you have your phone unlocked while driving and fingerprint disappears.
(You can also remove fingerprint from lock screen by going to Settings, Passwords & Biometrics, Fingerprint, Screen-off unlock and select off, but then you have to wake up your phone before being able to use fingerprint)
-Go to Settings, ..Always-On Display, Always-On Display and disable it. (You can also select Always-On Display with battery saver, which turns off image after some seconds, but on those seconds, the Andriod Auto is crashed)
@[email protected]$#[email protected]& OnePlus, OPPO and Color OS...
Same thing at OnePlus 8T with OxygenOS 12 (which is ColorOS 12).
After update to 12 I still have some problems with AA. Now phone is totally unusable (totally laggy or black screen) when connected to AA and after when disconnected - must wait ca. 5 min or restart phone.
But... After reading this tread I turn off AOD. And stil same. Then I turn off also fingerprint reader at turned off display. And... Everything works perfectly
Will test AOD on, FP on and Smart Lock at my car. But OPPO is a joke...
