Currently this link https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm.../nougat-h90130b-boot-img-img-upgrade-t3638750 suggests that this can be flashed on the H900.
I am starting this thread so that people can share their experiences of what they have tried so far and declutter the above thread so that all H900 related discussion can take place here.
I am currently on Marshmallow with no root and have experienced the same issues as many others
The instructions on the above thread read as follows
* adb reboot recovery
* adb push boot.img /sdcard
* adb push system.img /sdcard
* adb push modem.img /sdcard
* adb push rpm.img /sdcard
* adb shell
* cd /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name
* dd if=/sdcard/boot.img of=boot
* dd if=/sdcard/system.img of=system
* dd if=/sdcard/modem.img of=modem
* dd if=/sdcard/rpm.img of=rpm
* exit
* adb reboot system
The challenges :
1. 'adb reboot recovery' when we do this on H900 on MM we get a green droid with red triangle and can no longer see the device over adb.
2. 'cd /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name' gives permission denied.
What I tried was the following :
1. Copied boot.img to /sdcard
2. Copied system.img to /sdcard
3. I then installed dirtycow and managed to get the root icon in the terminal '#'
running dirtycow in the terminal gave this :
[INFO] Complete. Installed package "run-as" on device.\n[INFO] Cleaning up workspace...Done
[INFO] Starting shell in 3 seconds...
[email protected]:/ $ run-as -exec sh
uid run-as 2000
uid 0
0 u:r:runas:s0
context 0 u:r:shell:s0
[email protected]:/ # ls /dev/block
/dev/block: Permission denied
1|[email protected]:/ #
So my questions are as follows:
1. If we cannot reboot into a useful recovery are we screwed?
2. Am I using dirtycow correctly?
3. Is this a complete non-started as H900 has a locked bootloader?
Cheers,
Trev

If you enable developer mode, and then enable OEM unlock, are you able to adb reboot bootloader and then fastboot oem unlock?
If you are not able to unlock your bootloader, then yes it is a non-starter.
What was the root procedure for LP on the H900?

Hi Brian,
OEM unlock was enabled. Issuing adb reboot bootloader merely reboots the phone.
I foolishly upgraded to MM when I got the phone. There was a rooted Lollipop ROM on here but it is not possible to go back to L once on M.
It looks like AT&T have really locked this phone down. Being in the UK it is also not possible to get AT&T upgrades from their server.
Looks like we are stuck on MM. I cannot even uninstall an app. The phone simply soft reboots.
The root procedure for L was this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-v10/general/root-lg-h900-real-tot-make-tungkick-t3336317

Thanks for starting up a dedicated thread for this. AT&T have really messed this device up! We can't even roll it back to LP, those who've tried bricked! I'm happy to do some testing, just can't do anything too risky until I get my wife another phone since she's using this one.

Hi
I am also in UK but I bought my H900 from HK and it came with MM already installed (can't remember which) but I loaded LG Bridge and selected software update and low and behold it updated me to H90021w. I would love to get root on this phone and am willing to test as necessary.

Hi Stransky,
Do you have any problems with the H90021w update, for example unable to uninstall apps, broken finger print sensor etc?

No, no problems at all. The firmware updated as an upgrade as I retained all my apps and settings.

Hi Stransky, interesting yours already came with MM. I think this is why your update went fine without issues. I upgraded from LP so that could be where something broke.
A friend is in the US at the moment and took my H900 with him and he upgraded it using an AT&T OTA update with an AT&T sim card installed. When I get it back I will report back if this solved the problem.
Cheers,
Trev
Our ATT phone in general does not have an unlockable bootloader, which means we can not (openly) root our device on MM. This also means we can not install a custom recovery onto our device, of which is needed in order to execute adb commands onto the phone. I don't think this device will ever see a custom recovery or root, and I would be surprised if we even see official nougat at this rate.

I would tend to agree with your assessment. Such a waste of a great phone.
H900 at&t USA Holiday.
Hi Trev,
I just read you post about a friend taking your phone to the US and with an at&t Sim was hoping for an Android upgrade.
Did it work? I love the phone and a nougat upgrade would be a dream but the thought to download/upgrade manually is tempting but I am not too confident I will be successful and will no doubt damage the phone.
Cheers

Hi Bert, no it did not work.
it hurts, I'm in marshmello and I have the same problems, I can not uninstall apps: c ... nougat and apparently never arrived.
Is there any hope that official nougat for the h900 will come out? .... I update it to mm and the device is almost unusable of the errors it has: c, and it can not be returned to Lollipop either.

Me too! I sent it to my brother living in the US. He tried to update it to the latest security patch (Kernel version: 3.10.84
Build number: MRA58K /Software version: H90022b) which is stated in the AT&T website:
(To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!)
BUT unfortunately, even he succeeded to connect to their servers he couldn't get any update. Simply it didn't work!! He tried with AT&T customer service to get some technical quote or advice, but they knew nothing about the issue or how to solve it! the efffing At&t and LG!!! are both held responsible for the H900 variant mess!!!

Have you try to do factory reset before trying to update? also fresh LG up flashing may help..
I ve been trying to unlock the bootloader for a week now.
I am stuck at Developer Options > Mi Unlock status > Add account and device.
It throws up the error "Coudn't add, Device basic data authentication failed"
What could be the issue, any help / pointers will be appreciated.

I think you need to turn off wifi and enable mobile data then goto developer option and repeat the process.
Thanks, I tried but still not working.
There is no possible solution for this particular problem. We're constantly checking everyday but apparently its MIUI problem they messed up something in new update. Wait for Aug update.

This method doesn't work on newer devices, as the edl mode is locked and only accessible by opening the device's back case and shorting the edl flash point. Even after that flashing permission would be needed to flash via official mi flash tool which users can't get.

Excalibur, leave that bootloader issue first my device IMEI number is not getting verfied with the Flipkart exchange and the device exchange value is also very less its 1,680 without IMEI verified.
and then the mi suit does even recognise this device why I don't know.
And it's a 32 bit device that's a bad issue for gcam lovers too.,
Good things with this device that
Storage space 32 gb I have
(And that too this device doesn't support ExFat file system on as card)
Type C ( but its of no use without fast charging ) may be we can use this type c for audio output (again the audio drivers or hardware is of no best for orginal audio quality) you have to use mausic player like jet plus pro app to tune it .. if it's rooted then V4A viper 4 Android.

It supports 18w fast charging, you just need a fast charger to do that which doesn't come out of the box. I've been using a fast charger and it charges as quickly as rn8 pro or any other 18w supportable device.
There isn't anything wrong with the audio quality provided by the inbuilt dac, it's the same as any other phone in this price point or any devices costing even higher than this. And viper4droid does more like tuning the eq which again would be of no use if the device's dac is bad.
any update guys?

I also facing same problem brother did you find any solution or not
Hello, few weeks ago I bought a brand new Realme Pad LTE. This is really a very underestimated device considering it has on average more ram than competitors at better pricetags and a respectable octa-core processor with all the usual amenities a tablet should have along good lasting battery, no company bloatware and a solid construction in 2022. Unfortunately there is no support topic on XDA or elsewhere, and can't find a way to root it. There is no TWRP, no OTA or firmware available to download from the manufacturer nor a specific tool to dump the boot.img from the device, just unlock the bootloader and that's all. I am desperate, because otherwise I will have to return it and buy Samsung at an higher price - which I dumped for many reasons - just for the peace of mind of having support from LOS community, a working Magisk build and TWRP flashed for my backups and screw-ups. What can I do?
Because you're able to unlock tablet's bootloader you also should be able to dump tablet's boot.img by means of ADB applying Android's shell command named dd - what of course requires tablet's Android is got ( at least temporarily ) rooted.

That's why I am trying to get a boot.img. I need to root my device, and for that I need - to my understanding - to patch boot.img from this device on the Magisk app. I am a noob at all this terminal stuff, and struggled for days only to find an answer on how to unlock the bootloader on such a poorly documented/ignored device. I honestly don't understand what do you mean by "temporarily rooted" and I am also clueless on how *dd* command works or how/what path should I input over adb shell. Can you or everyone else help me out on this?
Android OS is rooted if it has su ( read: switch user ) functionality implemented.
By default this functionality is left of by OEM. Hence you've to add it by your own.
This can get achieved by means of ADB - if temporary root is your goal - or Magisk - if permament root is your goal - where the latter method patches Android's boot.img and other system files, so you no longer have a boot.img in it's initial state.
If to have a temporary root is intended, then all what is needed is to push a suitable su binary to Android's filesystem and make this binary executable.
With regards to su and dd commands: as always GIYF.

I have pretty much a stock Android 11 as OEM firmware so its my assumption it could be enabled, otherwise I have no idea of how to find out or where to find a suitable su binary for it. Anyway, my goal is to have a permanent root, so I can backup or remove system apps or eventually flash the **** out of this tablet if ever a dev pulls out a custom build for it. Also, to my understanding, flashing a Magisk zip from stock recovery or attempting adb sideload without a TWRP are a no-go, meaning I have Magisk only as apk package available to install.
From Google (the irony, I had to search for GIYF to find out what meant) I only found - for now - people that either describe a situation with a specific device that requires extra steps, or do a 180° and start rambling over TWRP stuff like it was taken for granted everyone has access to an official/unofficial build to extract that damn file. *sighs*

Hi, unfortunately I returned the tablet since there was no way up to this day to root it. You can indeed unlock the bootloader but fastboot prevents you from using sideload and since there is not a recovery for this specific tablet, and Realme support will flip you off if you ask for a firmware download, you're on your own.

Yeah, definitely. On one thing tho this tablet rocks; basic stuff like managing Netflix and using Android Auto for navigation from the tablet itself; the S6 Lite I now own can't even do that, in fact Netflix sucks and no support for AA has been even integrated despite having even the most community support. Who knows if there isn't even a longer list of unsupported daily use apps out there... By the way check P11 and A8 respective forums before making a decision; there is no certainty of support for root, recovery and all that good stuff despite being devices of recent production.

I attempted to convert my t-mobile oneplus 9 to international firmware by first flashing the Indian firmware.
I mistakenly downloaded the oneplus 9 PRO Indian msm.
I didn't realize this as the file has a very similar name. Lemonade_22.I.07_210412 vs Lemonadep_22_I.07_210412
I've tried everything since then, with no success. I tried to flash the correct oneplus 9 indian msm but it says incorrect device.
So I'm stuck with the oneplus 9 pro Indian firmware and can't get back to indian oneplus 9 firmware....
I have been developing and flashing android devices since the early days of Cyanogenmod... dozens of devices. And guess what? I did EXACTLY the same thing as you.
The link I downloaded from said it was Oneplus 9 firmware, and given the filenames being virtually identical, I never noticed it was the Oneplus 9 PRO firmware.
So don't feel too bad. Even experienced people can make mistakes when trying to flash phones!
I am working on a solution, but so far no luck because:
1. Msm Tool will not flash the Oneplus 9 firmware as it thinks it is the incorrect device (why did it let us flash the incorrect device firmware before???)
2. The bootloader is re-locked and the OEM Unlocking feature is greyed out in Developer options, therefore fastboot can't be used to re-flash the correct firmware.
3. The System Update "local upgrade" feature does not find ZIP files in the root folder and will not allow us to browse to the correct file.
So for now, we are stuck. I think solving #3 will be the solution. If we can make the "local upgrade" work, we should be able to flash the stock firmware ZIP.
@Derek6091 @mightysween did you fix it yet? I had my device screw up so bad today that the only MSM I could use on my global unit was the Indian 9 Pro firmware and I have gotten my device mostly working.
You can see my drama with it and how I finally got it working here.
[SOLVED] Can anyone help me unbrick? I have tried lite firehose, MSM for global, MSM for Indian 9 Pro, none work
I modded the global MSM so that it will flash to this frankenphone. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/all-of-those-stuck-on-indian-firmware-rejoice-i-modded-the-global-msm.4442473/ EDIT: For anyone else trying this and getting unsupported...
forum.xda-developers.com
I can get it working with 11.2.10.10 but not OOS 12, in OOS 12 the touchscreen doesn't work and it shows dual SIM icons so it's still doing something that makes it think it's a foreign variant. I ended up just going back to StagOS where I was before everything got mucked up.
Unfortunately the MSMs still see it as an Indian variant so I can only flash the Indian OP9P firmware to it, tried all the other MSMs and none work. I have been reading threads here and people claim they got it back to global but I tried all of the suggestions and none of them restored the device enough to where the global MSM Tool didn't see it as an Indian model and refuse to flash so I think we are stuck with this frankendevice.
@EtherealRemnant Yes I had to do oem unlock while on the Indian firmware. If your phone has the oem unlock greyed out, there's a guide on how to fix that with a simple command line.
Then I unlocked bootloader, flashed lineage recovery then a custom ROM. Haven't tried to get back to stock rom, and I don't think we can.... But I love this rom I'm currently on which is stagos.
Feel free to message me for any questions you may have!

Excellent. How did you do it? I would like to try with the T-Mobile MSM
Derek6091 said:
@EtherealRemnant Yes I had to do oem unlock while on the Indian firmware. If your phone has the oem unlock greyed out, there's a guide on how to fix that with a simple command line.
Then I unlocked bootloader, flashed lineage recovery then a custom ROM. Haven't tried to get back to stock rom, and I don't think we can.... But I love this rom I'm currently on which is stagos.
Feel free to message me for any questions you may have!

Go to your home screen on your phone and connect to computer with usb debugging and run this command in cmd,
adb shell pm disable-user com.qualcomm.qti.uim
Then go to developer options and oem unlock should be able to toggle.

You have to use the Oppo Decrypter tools. Decrypt the OPS file and open settings.xml. At the bottom of it there's a Target area. I just edited that to IN instead of O2 and re-packed it.

I tried it with the T-Mobile MSM but it still failed on "unsupported target". Did you only change the text value for O2 to IN, or did you need to change the numerical Target ID as well?
I am pretty content leaving this phone on StagOS anyway, but would be nice to figure out a way to return to T-Mobile stock after recovering from a brick.

Manually flashing partitions in Fastboot does work, FYI. So it is possible to go back to stock that way once the bootoader is re-unlocked.
I wonder where the "target" data is stored on the actual device. If it is simply a numerical/text value in an accessible partition, seems like it would be pretty easy to make a TWRP flashable that can change it.

Strange that it didn't work for you. That was indeed all I changed. Did you change it to what the unsupported target message said your device was? I was comparing the settings between India and global and besides the change of target ID, the target number on India was 3 instead of 1. No idea if that makes a difference though because I didn't try it.
You made sure to re-encrypt and replace the OPS, right?
Also yeah you can flash with fastboot, it doesn't fix that flag though and when I tried to go back to OOS 12 with the messed up flag it thought my device was a dual SIM device so there was no signal and the touchscreen didn't work. Happened twice. With the modified MSM I went back to global and am running OOS 12 right now.

All you have to do to go back to global is download the full OTA for your device and flash it with the system updater.

1st method: You need a code from Infinix to unlock. and put that code after the command like "fastboot OEM unlock 0x<insert your unlock code>" if you have otherwise contact the service care at this phone number 1800-4190-525 and ask them regarding unlock code of the bootloader/fastboot/ or OEM key.
2nd method: Go to your nearest service center of Carlcare or Infinix/Itel/Tecno/Spice and ask them about these scenarios maybe they will help you to unlock the bootloader/fastboot/ or OEM.
3rd method: Wait for the next firmware update maybe they will make an update that probably can unlock the bootloader/fastboot/ or OEM.
4th method: Wait for the completion of 1 year, they could maybe make an update that probably unlocks the bootloader/fastboot/ or OEM.
5th method: Sell your phone if you can because probably they will never give the privileges to the users after all it's a budget phone.
I hope you will install GSI ROMs
Have a nice day dude.
By the way, if you need any other help then you are always welcome.

I did not find information on how to unlock the bootloader for X6817, X6816C, X6816 or X6816D.
How do you know that this is possible?
What model variant do you have?

Predicted as I unlocked many bootloader of different brands.
I have Infinix Hot 12 Play ( X6816C).
Ohh sorry, I thought you replied to me.
So do you have any other ways to bypass/skip or deploy this thing?
Try this method also, this guide isn't guaranteed to work on all Unisoc devices especially if they require a different private ke: https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-32287.html

Currently, I am using Fedora 37 from the last 4 months and I am using Linux distributions from the last couple of years approximately 2 years.
Also, I have properly installed the package of adb-tools and 51-android.rules for better connectivity from device to device as well as I have made a helpful setup process at this link https://pastebin.com/Fc8xnaag
So could you help me to find out the proper tools to unlock Infinix Hot 12 Play (Unisoc version) which you have discussed?

No problem dude, by the way, you can use Universal Android Debloater application to debloat your android phone just like your Infinix phone graphically without root or Shizuku. I have a good experience after I debloated my phone.
It's available on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux as well as on other operating systems.
